Love getting my time in at In-Shape Suisun and Elmira. Facilities are always clean, the employees are friendly and helpful as well. Wait times between equipment isn’t bad at all and I can typically get my entire workout knocked out in about an hour. I also like being able to put in more time staying active the entire time if I’m feeling motivated to put in more than 2 hours. Thank you In-Shape for accommodating all that you can throughout this whole COVID experience
I’ve been a member of the Capitola branch for a long time. I’ve seen different phases of the gym come and go and have been very happy with where it has come. Recently over the past two years, prior to the COVID 19 fiasco, this gym in Capitola has been sliding further and further down hill. The gym is dirty, employees standing around talking rather then helping patrons but more importantly within the current pandemic this gym has failed to keep up with nor enforce current guild lines. The wipe down rags have also been there but it’s the not holding gym members accountable masks is a problem. Whether or not you believe in mandate or not, a rule is a rule and they are not exempt. On 8/21 I witness a patron complain that a group of people were not wearing masks when there are signs clearing saying to wear them. Staff told the complainer they would have them put the masks on. I was there for 45 minutes and no one showed up. This is completely unacceptable. This gym needs to enforce the rules they have posted around the gym because, they are the rules. They are state and county rules. Take personal matters else where. I urge management to get their act together and do what the laws requires. Your not above it. People can deal with workers not working and occasional dust during the pandemic but the mask enforcement is ridiculous.
1. It constantly logs you out for no reason. However, using the back arrow usually fixes it because who the world remembers their member number? Whoever came up with logging in by member number is an idiot. 2. Recently there has been a banner at the top of the app saying you can add a profile picture. Does it say how or where? No. And I’ve looked. It’s not any where in the app. 3. Scheduling is pretty frustrating. I have the VIP membership so I can go to any in shape gym in my area. Having to come out of my “home” gym to find another area gym is clunky. 4. I wish there was a summary for what each class was in the app when I am signing up for a class. I’m not talking about a book. I just want to know the difference between a Beatz ride and a Freestyle ride without having to come out of the app and go onto the website. 5. I just feel like SO MANY other apps have a lot more thought put into their interface. I wish the developers of this app would spend the same amount of time on this one.
I was without the ability to use the app for almost two months after the last update issue and the desk staff didn’t seem to care about it apart from writing it down and passing it up to management, which I don’t think they ever did. One desk associate even had the nerve to tell me that my issue was above his pay grade and couldn’t help me with it because it was up to management. (Really???) I was not pleased with the attitude I got from some of the staff either when I would come in and ask to use an amenity without a reservation because I didn’t have access to the app, so I’ve been paying for a membership upgrade only to be treated like a street beggar; wow. Now that I finally have access the attitudes toward me have changed, but it does not excuse how much of an inconvenience it was to have to use a screenshot of my membership just to come into the gym while this issue was being resolved.
Every time I am forced to sign up again for this sorry excuse for a gym as a last resort due to this pandemic, I cringe at the thought of using this app. Terribly slow. My kids’ flash player games on their iPads have smoother and better functionality than this garbage. Whoever runs this company would have had better luck hiring a couple of local college kids studying computer science to build them a functioning app. Making reservations on it is annoying and time consuming. On a side note customer service in the gyms( or should I say “gyM” because there’s only one open now out of 4 in the town I live in) has declined even further. The West Lane gym is always dimly lit and walking through it to get to the outside “muscle resort” area, one is visually assaulted by dusty unused offices with random boxes piled high and the restroom always smells! Pro tip: focus on quality and customer service and you won’t keep hemorrhaging clients and have to constantly raise membership dues.
While this app is pretty and the barcode is easy to access, it’s the worst interface ever for anyone looking for classes outside of the chosen “favorite” club. I attend several clubs and it takes a maze of clicks to see schedules. I basically feel like giving up and not working out. It shouldn’t be this hard. The online class listing was useable, but with the CFF merger, there are hundreds of classes no where near me clogging up the feed. On top of that, the app has grouped classes by genre, leaving out several of the unique one-off formats. At the very least, the app needs to allow for a selection of multiple favorite locations. For serious group fitness attendees, it is all but useless.
I was trying to go do my workout at In-Shape on the west side of my city I’ve been going there at least twice a week and wasn’t aloud to because my membership was being purchased on the east side. Does that mean I can only go to the east side and not the west same city about 7 miles away from each other but they told me I was able to go because there workers didn’t check it but now Im not aloud to go in. Do you have to pay two different account to go to the same gym I’ve been to 3 In-Shape gym’s with no worry’s I like the place people are nice it’s clean. Just want to know why
I enjoy the pools and hot tub at In Shape, which are clean and well maintained.. The app always works easily and signing up for lane times for pool use is easy and efficient.. The showers in the women’s locker room are clean and the hot water is readily available. I only wish that there was an app for ping pong! I wish there was a sign up sheet for players who need someone to play with. I love ping pong.. but I don’t get to play much at all :/
Everything is unintuitive and the forced rollout of this app was the worst. Had to leave the gym to set it up bc the wifi was down. They force you to upload your photo and the instructions to do so are unintuitive and off site. It literally takes you to the web page with a list of instructions of where to find the section to upload your photo buried deep within context menus. If this piece of crap app was designed by a human being, clicking on the error message would take you straight to the section where you can upload your photo. Awful app, cancelling my membership because of it.
This app is terrible. I typically don’t write reviews on apps but since I have to use this app to check in I hope the feedback is given to the developers for changes and fixes. This app seems rushed and an afterthought. First, it logs you out often and you have to use your member number (it does not even auto fill it) and log in again. Since you use this app to check in it should be instant to get the barcode. And if you forget your member number hope you have it saved! Second, the navigation is horrible and not intuitive. It could look better designed too. Third, (and especially because of the auto log out issue) PLEASE make an apple wallet barcode like everyone else. Then when in the geo location near the gym it will suggest to open my barcode. I like the idea of having the app control your check in experience but tech should make your life easier not harder. It could be much simpler and better designed with features members will actually use. Check out Equinox’ app.
Since the last update many people are no longer able to access their accounts. Customer Services and Team Members say to delete and reinstall the app. That doesn’t fix the problem. Haven’t been able to book a class or successfully check in since the latest update. Been told different excuses- it’s a problem with your phone, it’s a cell carrier problem, update the date, delete the app, try logging in on another device, use your spouses phone to register. Thank you InShape for passing the buck to someone else- Thank you for letting me join another gym.
My parents have been paying for the diamond membership since 09’ literally. I’m ready to commit this time though & instead of just going to the White lane & Coffee locations I plan to go to all the other ones as well, except for the furthest ones since gas prices are still really high at this point in time)
I have to give the app an extremely low score because it just doesn’t work well at all. When retrieving my member ID after the app forces me to log out, retrieving it via email gives me an error message indicating that I must go through a tedious process just to get it. The app also logs me out very often, leading to this cat and mouse chase almost every single time I use the app. Please fix this extremely annoying glitch because it takes me a good hour and a half just to get into the gym using the app when it would be much easier for the receptionists to ask me for my name and birth date.
Using the IOS link for "app support" goes to generic In Shape help webpage where reponses to questions will be vague and often not even answer your question or provide support. Where can I make feature recommendations? For example, you can list clubs & view directions, hours & an upcoming list of events. The club's phone numbers are displayed, but are not clickable. Is this an intentional dark pattern or just lack of insight regarding the needs of the users/members?
I really love going to Suisun City InShape. Staff are so very friendly and so helpful. I’ve been a member there for so many years and every morning I look forward to go there not only for my workout but see my friends and the staff. Rashida and the staff at the front desk are so awesome. Management team too. Overall, I give them *****👍!
Thank you for fixing the kid zone reservation time slots! The reason why we signed up was because you offer kids zone again and being able to use the check in system with ease now will make this a much better experience.
This app is great! Straight to the point w info. Registration was easy even without knowing my member information! Super usable and accurate on checkins for the rewards/workout and win monthly contests! Update- the reservation system let’s me make sure I have lap lane when I show up at 5am
I hate the app so much and online customer service to get assistance with anything is even worse. The app takes forever to load the Home Screen and logs out of my points every time making it harder to redeem points. I’ve also stopped receiving points since August, even though I’ve been going almost daily. I reached out to customer service for several issues, since MAY, it’s now SEPTEMBER and I still haven’t heard back. Get it together In-Shape! P.S. it would be nice to have a live gym capacity feature
I love the latest version of the app because now I can reserve a class directly from the schedule view! And add it to my calendar! Also the quick-view member barcode to scan in is helpful as well. Thanks for the improvements to the app, In-Shape! Love it and so useful.
Since the new company took over it has been a mess, difficult in their entry software, poor up keep of the exercise areas and communication is none existent! Last but not least it the planning of refusing the bathroom and showers. The portable trailers are dirty and very unsafe for handicap members. The support rail leading to the men’s stable are loose and about to come off. The stairs leading to the men’s bathroom are steep and slippery. I will advise my friends that are members to stay away from your facility until there are immediate improvements. Ramiro James Luna
I work for a bank and I’m used to great client service because I do that the same for my clients in the bank. What I like when I come in the In-Shape always greet with a smile and sometimes they call me by name which always make you feel special
The old Calfit app was far better than this In-Shape family fitness app. Of course, all apps have their limitations, but it was really nice for those of us that attend multiple gyms to be able to search and filter classes based on gym or location. This new app only allows the member access to their ‘home’ location classes unless you manually search by class type. So cumbersome.
The ladies in the Lodi Kids Zone are amazing! My son begs to go everyday. This gets me to go to the gym as well! Lol!!! He always comes home sweaty and red-faced from having fun, with a craft or painting in his hands! Thank you so much! Makes it so that my husband and I can work out together!
For the past nearly 4 weeks, the iOS app no longer works. It won’t launch, and just crashes before it ever opens. Every. Single. Time. I’ve deleted and reinstalled 7 times now, including tonight at the club. I’ve updated my iOS version, rebooted, deleted, rebooted, reinstalled, rebooted, and then tried to launch and it continues to crash immediately. What’s the point of having an app if it doesn’t work???
Thanks to Angelica at the McHenry Jim desk. I was able to work through the problems of being able to make a reservation. I am older and not as well-versed on the phone as I should be but the system had me shut out for three days. Thank you, Angelica.
Customer service and feedback from members is inadequate. As a consumer club closures and removal of services without input from the consumer using the service is inappropriate. It would be becoming of In Shape to solicit member opinions when decisions are being made solely on In Shape’s corporate business interests. For those in the corporate leadership levels, please consider your customers. We are the finance behind In Shape. Thanks!
Great engery by everyone that works there. They make us feel special and welcome us every time we go. My sister and I missed a few classes because of Covid and they applauded when we left class and welcomed us back♥️
I just got the app a week ago and it is mandatory for me as an employee at in-shape to upload a profile picture on the app. Every single photo I choose gets rejected for being to blurry even though I am using an IPhone 13 with the highest rated phone camera quality on the market. Uploading a profile picture should not be this frustrating to deal with. It’s ridiculous and disappointing.
I have tried to attend a class 4 times at the Monterey gym. Twice the class was cancelled without any notification, sign on the door, note at check-in. We are being asked to reserve a spot, show up early, wear a mask. Can’t In shape do something to let people know when their class is cancelled?! I am upset because this happens so frequently. Others showing up are equally annoyed. If you want good ratings, make an effort to support your members.
DEBBIE who teaches Les Mile Core is the BEST. We need more classes like that, and more classes taught by DEBBIE. She is very focused on proper form and technique. Same goes for Laura in her Forever Fit classes. She’s the BEST asset you have here!! Also Chrissy who teaches the low Impact Total Body, is amazing. She as well focuses on safe form and offers a variety of options for all levels and limitations. Loretta’s Zumba’s are awesome. We need more of HER Zumba’s during the mornings! I like the l latest format on signing into classes, and easy check in. Way more user friendly.
I’m new in town . My son took me to the gym for me to heal from so much body aches do to my arthritis rheumatoid . I’m happy here at gym is so clean and members are polite pleasant always friendly. The gym staff are very professional and always willing to answer my concerns or questions ❤️

Ever since the update I’ve been unable to add my reserved classes to my calendar. It worked fine prior to the update but hasn’t worked since and there is no way for me to add this function from my phone.
For a commercial app, it is unremarkable. It works, let’s you check for classes and so forth but lacks any sparkle or sophistication. Features like searching for all the classes a particular leader teaches across all clubs has been available on the web site, not here. Guess what rankles is its smugness, 2 stars is probably a bit harsh but it is a weak 3 at best.
Somebody has to fix this app. I can never make a reservation or check in or out. It always says “error has occurred sorry for the inconvenience”. I have deleted the app and reinstalled it too many times to count. Considering the app is one of the only ways to access the gym it should be more accessible and updated.
Your pool needs to be up to the specified heat which is between 82 and 84 they told us and the last few times we went it’s been ice cold, please fix this, thank you.
I think it is ridiculous that former Cal Fit members are suddenly being forced to use this app. I missed my workout tonight because I didn’t have it downloaded already. I’m also questioning the need for my picture to be on my profile. I’m not really happy with this, not sure if your company is using AI. There is a reason I do not have social media and I do not want to start now.
Even after clearly stating I had interest, even sought out gym due to the jacuzzi, not a hint that it was DOWN! Or that it had been…. AND STILL NO CLUE WHEN IT WILL BE UP AGAIN! Not professional OR honest. No doubt my associate gets a small reward for signing me up. No one so far can tell me ANYY in regards to a repair schedule….evidently no priority
I have this app downloaded to iPhone. I was in the club, scanned in was told by rep to go back and reserve. In doing so I’ve had nothing but problems! I’m asked to allow or deny notifications no matter if I accept or decline, I get the same error message “ An unexpected error has occurred please try again later we apologize for the inconvenience. I can’t even get back in!
I hate having to use an app to come into the gym and will begin looking for alternatives. I have been a member since shortly after the Folsom Cal-Fit club opened. The managers of In-Shape should focus on member’s actual fitness rather than encouraging people to come into the club using their cell phones. This just leads to the useless texting and ear plugs that are so prevalent already. Bad decision.
Melina (front desk) was very helpful and was able to sign me up for a membership at the In Shape on 10th St W (Palmdale, CA). I’m very excited and thankful for the opportunity that was given to me, thank you 🙏
I have trouble trying to schedule a class, wait for 3 days before the class meanwhile other people was able to schedule it before. also you should let schedule classes weekly
It worked fine but after I discontinued membership and took a new membership after few months, the app is not working. Its not opening on my mobile. I told this to the gum manager and he is clueless and said he cant do anything . I dont know what to do
I used to love this app but over the past month it won’t open. When I click on it, it opens and closes. Doesn’t stay open for longer than a split second. I’ve rebooted the phone, deleted and downloaded the app again, checked for updates, and emailed customer service. Still no response and no progress.
I go to enjoy the pool and it is too cold and lately after being in the pool for 5-10 minutes it will become a little cool off but not like in the past. It feels like ice was just being removed I’ve been going to In-Shape since 2014 and never wants it to go. Now all I’m thinking about ice water I’m getting into
Now that the lack of towel issues have been solved now it’s the spray bottles issues that need to be solved it is not enough of them I have to walk all the way to the other side of the gym just to get one
I have auto payment and it said that I didn’t have enough in my account (I do) so they charged me a fee. I’m trying to pay that and tried online and on the app. It doesn’t work for either. So what? I’m going to get charged again? 🙄
This app is buggy and missing important features. When searching for classes, the app should show if a class is full before clicking the reserve button. You should also have the ability to filter by club before selecting the type of class you’re looking for.
