Great site! Easy to navigate

I really appreciate the ease of navigation and logical layout of the app. Great local news and sports at your fingertips.

This is a nice app

It does the things I want it to do and none of the things I don’t. Easy to use interface, and I really appreciate night mode. The only thing I really want is easier access and push notifications about photo galleries, because that’s what I’m really here to see.

Frequent subscription/log-in issues

Bugs leading to hassles with logging into my account after updating app. When I finally just gave in and tried to re-set my password, that became a whole unnecessarily complicated journey in and of itself. The Press-Citizen itself leaves very much to be desired (that could be a whole other rant), but it is still the best option for local news. So I’ll keep dealing with these aggravating and unnecessary tech issues, because what choice do I have?

Keeps logging me out

I am a subscriber to the press citizen but the app keeps saying I’m out of free articles. I try to sign out and then sign back in but it seems to be stuck at that step, a circle keeps going around and around but never takes me to the logged in page. There is no place on the app to ask for help or send a message requesting assistance. Very frustrating to be paying for a subscription but then not able to read the articles.

Sneaky add pop ups are really frustrating!

I’m paying for the subscription but can’t get through an article on the app without inadvertently opening up multiple adds. So annoying. I’d pay a premium subscription price to eliminate this point of frustration.

Often problems loading

Poor site, loading issues and in turning pages often changes format back to smaller double pages. Previous app was much more reliable

E-edition

Moving the e-edition to this app needs some work, trying to pinch to zoom in and out does not work smooth at all. App is jumpy and not like it was on the old application. Please continue to work on improving the old function.

Too many ads for a paid subscription

I like the old app

New app has pop up ads. As a SUBSCRIBER, one shouldn’t have to put up with pop up ads. Also, you can’t zoom into a page to make it full width like you could with the old app.

App crashes

Since the last update to version 5.23.1, the app almost always crashes on my up to date 2018 iPad Pro. I deleted and reinstalled the app and restarted the iPad. Support just takes me to the Press-Citizen news page in a browser.

Please fix the app so whole pages can be displayed!!

The page is either too large or too small. I want to read the newspaper on my iPad, and it’s frustrating to try to do so.

Hard to view all articles

With Top Stories, “Catch Up”, and the Sections, I never know if I have seen all the latest articles. The Catch Up seems to just force you to see ads.

Doesn’t work with iOS14

Have tried numerous times to open the app after installing iOS14 and it quickly closes each time. Will have to delete it since I can’t use it.

No way to cancel

No way to cancel on the app. I’ve called and told a lady I wanted to cancel my subscription. It just came out of my checking account again!

App crashes on iPad

While reading the Iowa City Press Citizen e-newspaper in the app or browser mode crash almost daily. It’s hardly worth subscribing to the digital version of the newspaper.

Purchased this app to get an overview of the local news and to get information on local issues. It also allows the selection of another Gannet newspaper highlights.

It is ridiculous that you can no longer see current obituaries. The whole app is not particularly user friendly.

A suggestion or two

Please put a "remember me" button into the app so I don't have to sign in again every couple of days. Also, the splash screen is insulting. Iowa City is more than sports. How about something concerning I. C. being a UNESCO International City of Literature rather than some idiotic football picture?

Awesome News Coverage in a convenient app

I very much enjoy the news coverage of Press Citizen and having the news presented via a convenient app is even better.

Not much news

This app is a handy way to get some if the news. I would like to see it have more news. It only gets like 3 or 4 new articles a day. Then it leaves it in the news feed for like a week. I only want to read each article once. There's a whole paper that getting left out.

Limited content

No search feature. No way to see today's news as option instead of Top Stories that may be days old. Today's Mug Shots feature serves no public interest, offers no context, and individuals arrested are not always guilty. Needs to be reconsidered. Waiting for upgrades...

So paid subscribers are subjected to banner ads that occupy screen real estate? I think I'll just keep dumping the cookies and continue to use Safari.
