J C app

I like your app much better than the actual paper. It is a joke. I have lived here for over 40 years and was very impressed with the paper when I moved here. Monday and Tuesday it is just like a pamphlet anymore.

I am canceling, here is why

I subscribe to the E edition for several years. They “upgraded the app”. For me it wasn’t an upgrade but a down grade. All I want/need was to be able to swipe left or right, pinch to expand or contract. With the new version I am not able to do that and I am slammed with more click bait…promo ads. And in reality that is the real reason for the “up grade”…..more exposure to the ads. As other reviewers noted, it jumps to places not intended, there is no guarantee when hitting the back arrow you end where you were, the size format is not consistent, there is probably more but I am trying to erase it from my brain cells. As a result I am looking to other sources for my local news. Adios, J & C

Update. Obituaries cumbersome to use

The obit app has been greatly improved. Very easy to use. From2021 The obituaries are very difficult to use. There is an announcement of someone’s passing only. To find out more you have to search the funeral homes pages. Very cumbersome. This used to be an OK app but not so much anymore. Disappointing.

Very Annoying

I have never had so much trouble with any app that I use regularly. Articles jump around randomly, reload for no reason, freeze up, or won’t load at all. If I try to zoom in on an article for more readability, the view might jump to the previous page, disappear, or reload the whole paper. My wife has almost given up trying to read the J&C because of how difficult the app makes it to read.

App crashes since update

I haven’t been able to access the app in the past week. I’ve deleted and reinstalled several times with the same problem of it crashing every time I try to open.

Beyond terrible but improved

Unless this app gets changed for the better, I will be canceling my account It is much better than I first thought. I have yet to find an easy way to go back to the previous page.

Terrible experience!

I like the Journal and Courier as a newspaper, but every time they change the app, I have issues. I typically read the paper on an iPhone and each app change has caused me to have to readjust how I am able to view it on my phone. Also the settings don’t seem to function correctly - I don’t want tracked or targeted advertisements, but there does not appear to be any functioning mechanism in settings to change to anything but allow all. Not happy!

Crashes immediately

I have used this app for years. Since the most recent version came out it immediately crashes on both of my iPhones. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app and I’m using the latest iOS. I called customer service for help and they said there must be something wrong with both of my phones. There is not! Then they said I need to talk to Apple. No, I think they need to talk to someone get this glitch fixed. This app is now unusable.

Not able to access my subscription

Periodically, I am unable to read articles. I have my fee automatically withdrawn each month with no exceptions. Right now, I keep being locked out. I go to the "restore subscription" link which takes me no where. Very aggravating. There is no way to contact anyone for help.

Good source of news

App functions well. Local news is posted timely and e-newspaper mirrors the paper version which makes reading very convenient.

Not as good as an actual paper

There are enough glitches in this thing to choke a mule, including making me sign in on a regular basis, not to mention the annoying pop up ads. For example, I was in the middle of blissfully reading the Saturday morning paper when it disappeared and all I get is this crappola.

Delivery

We have been subscribed to home delivery for 5weeks! The paper has not been delivered at least 15 timesheet! It is random days that we don’t receive it. On Sunday I asked for the paper to be re delivered, still didn’t receive it. I hope our account is being credited accordingly. If this continues we will be removing our subscription☹️☹️☹️

J&J does not look or feel like a local paper. More local news in a timely manner and more coverage on high school sports would be a huge improvement .

J-C App works great!

I use the Journal Courier app every day to check the local news and sports. Having read the J/C since 1967, it’s pretty much a figment if it’s former self. The lack of staff editorials and reader opinions is really sad.

App crashes immediately on opening

Would do 0 stars if possible! Latest update is horrible and constantly crashes. I’ve removed app and reloaded multiple times and it continues to crash. I have latest iPhone and software is updated. Don’t frustrate yourself with it! They need to fix it.

Not good

The side buttons are in the wrong location. You can easily hit them accidentally. Now the app will reset itself multiple times while trying to read the paper.

I like getting the local news and national/world news without bias. Fortunately JC still presents the news in detail and offers opinions with common sense opinions. Thank you.

App will not open

I’ve had issues recently with the app not opening. It starts, then abruptly closes. I have to access the paper via my browser instead. I’ve deleted and reinstalled, but no difference. Please fix this.

The App has not been working past several days. Am a subscriber and went get daily email cannot access it. Will go to App then disappear. Only way to view that way is to delete app each day and download it.

This app is failing. I pay to read the news but it’s impossible when it crashes upon opening each time. I’ve tried uninstalling it and re installing. Still crashes. I’m ready to stop my subscription.

Version 6.4.0 crashes

While using the iPhone, app crashed when clicking on masthead to return to homepage. It then crashes every time you reopen. This happened first to my wife on her phone, then the today on mine. Only fix is to delete app and download again.

Latest update crashing on open

Most recent update crashing instantly on Open. Will re-rate when fixed. Until then, don’t waste your time. Go to the print edition (separate app) or access through a browser.

Zero stars

This is one of the worst apps I’ve ever used. I don’t know if it is just the app or if it is also the incompetence of the paper but I seem to be stuck in some kind of infinite loop where every time I try to click on a link it asks me to log in. Every. Time. This is bogus.

Terrible

This thing is a dog. Unable to subscribe, or manage purchases. Tech support is off shore and unintelligible. Basically useless. But they do seem to be able to take your money quite efficiently.

Don’t Bother

It used to be I could read several articles per month for free via my iPhone. Not any longer. I’m going to delete this app. Can get the same, or usually better, coverage via WLFI or even the Indianapolis Star.

Please help

I am a long term subscriber to J&C online content, and I used to enjoy their app. But, FOR THE PAST SEVERAL DAYS THE APP SHUTS DOWN IMMEDIATELY. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO USE IT AT ALL. I HAVE DELETED AND REDOWNLOADED IT SEVERAL TIMES. I have iPhone 12 PM, with most recent updates. Please help me, or I'll have to cancel. I want my J&C!!!

Please, please fix the app so it will download the jconline version of the paper. I like to get “today’s news” and not yesterday’s like the current daily paper.

Complete Waste

Rarely gets updated, and now you can’t even read the articles unless you subscribe....even if you subscribe to the paper version.

Please reprint legal ad on page 4C of 1/26 print edition. The legal ad is overprinted on a commercial ad, making it difficult/impossible to read. Thank you.
