Needs some work
When I first opened the app it looked suspiciously similar to the AMC app, which is not particularly appealing either, but I figured they must have had positive user experience for Marcus to copy/emulate it. This Marcus Theaters app lacks some of the easy to use features the previous app offered: ease of locating the tickets for the movie you just purchased, being able to view all movies at your favorite theater, and the ability to see your current point status without having to click through several items (which are not necessarily intuitive). Additionally, the price for the tickets was $0.60 higher per ticket than if I purchased it in the theater. It seems as if I was charged a fee for convenience even as a member of the rewards program. Not seeing an advantage with the new app 😔

Harder than it needed to be?!
As a consumer I’m not sure why a separate new app was needed vs just making a update/rework. Thus making this “transition” seamless. As others mentioned there was plenty of frustration logging in the old app and it wasn’t working. Spent some time just troubleshooting my phone connection before realizing the app was discontinued. Why not have a notification window pop up saying “Hey there’s a new app, please click to download”. I mean that’s how just about everyone else pushes an update. Instead you had an cryptic message in the movie title saying “download our new mobile app, DreamLounger”. Didn’t even notice the message until I was about to look up an AMC theater. I’m guessing they had their reasons. Oh and yes you have to create an entirely new account. I tried a few times with different email addresses wondering, what address did I use?! Non of them were found in the forgot password option. Wasn’t until I read another posters comments saying just create another account then add your rewards member number. Oh okay, not such a big deal as long as I don’t lose all my reward points. Once I got through all that garbage on Friday night right before the movie everything seemed to work fine. Kind of a dumb thing to complain about but I bet I’ve spent close to $1K at this theater over this past year for my family of 5 and this is what I get? Otherwise thanks for what appears to be an updated UI that’s just as slow as the last app. Yay!

Confusing
I had the Movie Tavern app and tried to open it, it never told me the app shut down and needed to download a new app... it just kept saying server busy. After a week passed tried again same thing so I finally went to the App Store to see if I needed to manually update, just to find out it’s no longer there. Why copy amc anyways. I use the Cinemark app with ease, this one seems poorly done like a cluster duck. I still manage to purchase tickets hoping app doesn’t screw me. And my god please reconsider those stupid fees(online purchase fee per ticket)!!!! I’m saving us both time and your charging me... I even feel you get more benefits because now I have to drive a extra 40 minutes.. you idiots (theaters) started this seat saving so now, not to waste my gas to drive to the theater, I use the app to save my seat which is your idea... I still save that person time and soon you can do most of this automated and won’t need to pay a person to sell ticked because I know basic computer skills.. just saying in the future to save money I’ll just stay local because spending an extra $40-50 just to use your theaters doesn’t seem worth it. Yes I’m including gas in a V8.. I’m just consider building a home theater and the hell with over priced movie theaters... you know when you you spend more on popcorn and a drink then you did actually watching a movie something is up. Your screwed if you have a large family.... Anyways the app need work!

The movies are great and I love the seats!! The service is horrible and the food is great but once I got a pizza and it had the biggest amount of sauce. Today I am going to see avatar for 3 hours. I got a rap and I really hope it’s good! The movies on Tuesdays are so worth it!! All of the movies are great for kids, but the seats are not! Make sure that your kid will not fall off or press the button on the seats. Seating: The seats are amazing but it depends where you sit, my family always sits in the back. If you have an option to sit towards the back, do it never sit in the front. First it hurts your neck and no one wants to sit like that for 1-2 hours. Second, your probably thinking, we should sit in the front because people will block the screen. But it’s nothing like that. It’s not one floor, there are multiple floors, so you can always see the screen no matter what!! on the bottom floor, DO NOT SIT THERE! Your wasting your money if you sit there trust me and sit at the top, even if you have young kids!! So I give this 4/5, because it’s supper fun to go to with my friends. They also have a bar and some games you could play at the bar for kids!! Go check it out it’s great⭐️.

New version
I don’t like that some of the best features from the original version was dropped when making this new & so called new version of the rewards app. I liked that I could view the previews straight from the movie listings not having to go back to the beginning to see what’s the movie is about. That blows. I liked that the old version let u know how long is the movie. That’s very important information for the viewers for planning there outings. I love that when u purchase movie tickets u could add it to your calendar straight from the app. That was the best so people could be reminded of there upcoming movie date. I liked that u could see what special was running for rewards members e.g 2$ candy and hotdogs etc. It was nice to be able to plan what u were going to buy or buy something u would not have normally bought because it was to expensive. Those are my biggest problems I have with this new app version. Other than that it seems to be an okay app. But if some how those few things could be added as a update it would be great. That along with the many new great things u can do from this app will make this app fantastic. Just some ideas

Good and bad
While purchasing the tickets online is a great. The idea of buying the food and drink ahead of time is horrible mainly because I’m the kind of person who doesn’t know what I’ll get til I get there. While I understand the idea was probably thought of as a step to limit contact for covid it is poorly executed and falsely advertised at least the theater I went to. As the ad in the preshow and everywhere I see shows that the food will be ready when you get there instead of having the popcorn and drink filled when I got there I still had to wait for them to get the food together and had to get the drink as self serve. My suggestion if the theater is not going to fill the drink then don’t have the option of what you want the drink and instead just have the size of the drink the same for the popcorn if your going to not have it ready by the time and ask for butter in person then take out that step as well. Another more positive suggestion when you buy the tickets before going into the check out have an option to add the food in one go instead of two separate purchases as it is not friendly at all for people who do a quick check out as a guest.

Better app missing one feature I use for all tickets
This is better than the last it’s smoother it works better than the last one thing missing is the ability adding the tickets to passes in wallet. Now technically you can still do that but downside is only can do right after purchasing tickets. If you back out or close app and go to tickets there is no option to add to wallet which isn’t a huge thing but I had forgotten to add to wallet the first time but now that I’m trying to add wallet to share the passes with my family I can’t. And because often I drop them off in front so I can go park they can grab tickets now I have to give my phone to somebody for them to have the tickets to get it and start buying popcorn. And I can’t call to see if they are in line or in the seats or I have trouble getting in because staff wants to see a ticket and I got nothing to show. Please add the option to add to passes at any point in time like the last app thanks.

Not a good “showing” to go backwards in app features!!
Why would you remove the ability to at least see an icon (let alone, and better yet, click a link to the actual movie trailer) FROM MY LOCAL THEATER SELECTED PAGE?? Makes no sense. Why isn’t there an easily-found (if at all) option for the app to open directly to my “favorited” theater. The other initial pages don’t matter. Who does your user interface/user experience testing and validation?? Movie goers really don’t care about the full gamut of all the movies across the country at Marcus theaters (corporate arrogance) if they can’t see it at the theater they normally go to. Your brand is not that strong that most would go out of their way to find a Marcus Theater for the sake of it being Marcus...and the lack of thoughtfulness put into your app’s REGRESSION in CAPABILITY is just one example of its brand weakness. I don’t mean to be all negative, so Yay! for $5 Tuesdays. I’m appreciative of that. But it has nothing to do with the weakness of this app which is very vital to the Marcus brands very first impression to all of the movies goers who use it.

Ticket service fee outrageous
I’m not quite sure why there is a 300% service fee when buying through the app. I understand why a third party app would charge a convenience fee but to charge nearly seven dollars for five dollar tickets is ridiculous. That’s more than an entire ticket. And the ticket prices themselves are higher than going to the theater and buying in person. I used to support Movie Tavern as they were a chain who cared about the moviegoer. Not anymore. If I wanted to be price gouged and insulted, I might as well go to a theater with a giant screen and better sound quality. Your app just cemented everything I hate about the new buyout. Expensive food, lackluster quality, gouging the customer with a smile on your face while holding a sack full of cash. You should be ashamed of what you’ve become.

Can’t stand this version
They took a decent app and ruined it. What is with the circular red dot that expands? It’s doing that like constantly. It is so annoying. It is so hard to get to where you want to go. They just really ruined it. Made it more complicated than it should be. Wish I could go back and get the old app. Or use some other App to get the movies at the Marcus Theatres. Also, way too much advertising. Way too many things flashing around the screen. Hello – I’m in your app. You don’t need to advertise! There is a reason I am in your app. KISS - keep it simple stupid. That is what you should do. Please help!

It (BARELY) works when it wants to.
Let me preface that I have been a mega fan of my local marcus theatre for almost a decade. They recently in the past year or so made a subscription service that lets you watch movies for cheaper if you only pay 15 upfront a month. Great deal! However the big issue is that on at least 6+ occasions just this year it has been impossible to use this subscription because the app is either unable to process payments, always giving me a “tickets are unavailable” which is not true because on the website the theater is empty, or some other issue. Tech support always tells me it’s an ongoing issue. Which you know what? Fine if I can’t use the app the website works why not just do that? Only problem is this subscription only works ON the app. You expect me to pay 15 a month for a service I can’t get to work? Has me considering what AMC is offering…

Why is this so difficult?
A movie app should make it easy to select the theater, see all of the show times, and select and buy tickets with or without rewards. WHY has this new app become worse? The last app was no prize, I was excited to get this new one, and then quickly let down. It’s difficult to see your rewards card balance, and also to access tickets which are both buried under your “profile”. Also, if I frequently visit the same theater, why doesn’t the app have the option to open up, by default for that theatre?? Instead, I have to go “Theaters”, then select my favorite, and then see a list of movies - all of which take a while to load. The app wastes a lot of screen space with pictures when you could have more intuitive icon links to get to the movie selection and purchase quickly. Selecting seats is also MUCH slower and hard to read. Please make it easier to see Movie “rewards balance” and to see “My Tickets” from the main screen!

Worse than one star
This company’s apps have never worked right and have always been unintuitive. The update logged me out and now I cdd add my log back in. It let me reset my password on my account and now says that my rewards number is attached to another account….so why did they let me reset my password???? Worthless. Also, every time you open the app, it plays an add, so if you are trying to use it to buy tickets or food and want to show them your rewards number, they have ti wait for the ad to finish playing when there are people standing behind you in line. They must hire the cheapest developers they can, as it seems they don’t care about their fellow workers nor their customers. I’m going to request they send me a physical card, because the app is worthless. The account you log into here should be the same account you have online, just like every other company out there and not like this convoluted mess.

Cumbersome- step backwards from previous app
You can’t just scroll and see showtimes. You have to click each individual movie poster to see the time that movie is playing. Remember the times, go back out to the main screen then select the next movie and remember those move times, and repeat for another movie. When negotiating as a family which movie everyone will agree to see this is tedious. You know the timeframe you have the family together or just when you are free. It’s much simpler and user friendly AND functional to be able to scan and see a list of multiple movies and times playing in one list. This way if my husband and I know we are free after 8pm we can scan the list looking for movies that start around then and make a decision on those movies vs clicking on movies we might be interested in only to find the first 3 we selected don’t work. You don’t become excited to go to movies when it’s your fourth movie choice option.

Really bad compared to the old version
I’m surprised by the really high ratings for this app and wonder if maybe they were left for the original app, they changed it up about six months ago. Now it’s visually ugly and difficult to navigate to the point where I now search for movies in Fandango and if it’s playing at the Marcus I come over to this app just to make the reservation. You can no longer watch the trailers directly from the app the way that I could before and there are no thumbnails so you can’t really tell which movie is which unless you know the names of the movies. I don’t remember all the names of the new movies! thumbnails are helpful for that. of course you can still make reservations and if you’re a Marcus member you don’t pay for the fee so it’s still worth it to use the app. It’s just such a bummer the direction they've gone with this. it’s like going back in time in app design.

Get your App together!
Thank you for forcing me to download a new app that not only doesn’t work, but now I am not even able to use the old app. I set up a new account, linked my movie rewards, selected the theaters in our area, etc... Next step, I try to find tickets for my family to see a movie, and guess what happens?! Not only can I not see movies in our local theaters, I can’t even find them via the search function. Meaning I can’t even purchase tickets online anymore, so thanks for that... Another thing I noticed was that there is no longer an option to preview the available seating. Needless to to say, I am beyond disappointed at this point. My family really enjoy going to the movies and purchasing tickets online made that much more convenient! Maybe next time do a little more field testing and make sure your product works before just throwing it out there. I am beyond disappointed by this huge indiscretion towards your loyal customers

Can’t order tickets!!!
Why would you shut down the old app before your new one is operational? I went on the old app to see what new movies were out. It no longer shows the movies at all and I kept being told to download the new app. After downloading the new app I had to create a profile, find my rewards card to enter that number, enter my local theater and other preferences After all that, I tried to see what movies were playing at my local theater and their times. (Which you would think would pop right up since I took the time to set my theater in the preferences) I had to search the theater and kept getting an error message saying my theater is unavailable. I eventually just picked a movie and tried to go from there. Again when it came to selecting a theater in the search bar it said my theater was unavailable. I scrolled down and hit the more theaters button about 10 times before I found my theater. It would only show showtimes for today if I tried to switch days I got the error and had to start all over. When I got back to the screen and tried to select a seat for today It wouldn’t let me select a seat or show which seats were taken. Needless to say, I went to AMC and got tickets to their dine in theater instead, since your app wouldn’t sell me tickets. Why not leave the old app operational until you get this one working?

Would be fine if it worked.
As I opened up the app it prompted me to make an account so I complied. First, my last name has a space in it, which is not allowed, which is fine until when I attempt to add my already existing rewards card. It asks for the card number naturally, then it asks for my last name for the card. I don’t add space, doesn’t work, I do add a space doesn’t work. I try capitalization, also doesn’t work. So I skip that step and move onto looking at the schedule of movies. It brings up my theater selection but once I go to select a theater it doesn’t work. It doesn’t bring up the movies. The whole purpose of the app is non existent in its current state. I understand some bugs but this is a bit too much. I will update my review if the app actually works but I can’t be too much more positive on this when we had an app the worked with Fandango and then they give us an app that doesn’t work with this Marcus app.

Triple charged me for tickets - terrible app
I purchased a movie pass plus, which was a difficulty of its own. Then, once I finally got that figured out, I used the app to select seats for a move and tried to use Apple Pay – each time I did this the loading symbol would come up and eventually freeze for 5+ minutes before saying there was an issue, and I tried three times. Each time I was charged $20+ and wasn’t given a ticket. I tried a fourth time today, putting in my credit card information and it STILL didn’t work – it said I needed to put my first name into the field (which I did do). I don’t know if you let interns build this garbage app but it’s not only worthless but is actively stealing from your customer base. I hope someone from corporate see this and loses it on whoever they paid to build such an awful app, because I’m switching to AMC theaters now.

Never gets better
This app has been so bad throughout the past 5 years almost and I guess it took me this long to be so fed up now just because I’d like to see how much my payment was for the previous movie I went to like 2 weeks ago but instead lists previous movies from months ago I bought, such a great help. It’s terribly slow, they put their stupid icons when you want to purchase tickets right on the corner seats which makes you struggle to get that icon out of the way to begin with once you find out you have to hold and drag it a little out of the way. The only reason I’ve ever still Kept up with the app is because I’m a huge movie person and the Marcus theater in gurnee is great, but I absolutely dread the moment I have to buy movie tickets through your application. It’s probably time to replace whoever is in charge of designing the app

Marcus Theater App
Even though I don’t go to movies because it’s so expensive, I love the app! With $5 Tuesday’s, I look forward to going more often. I love how the app tracks your genres to help suggest movies to see. The only thing that would make this app better would be to update it to have a tab at the bottom where people can tag movies (in theaters now, coming soon, etc) to a “see list.” This will help track what they want to see so they don’t miss anything. Also, a tab to have people tag what movies they have seen in theaters will help too, so they can decide if they want to see it again or not. Just an idea. I have a separate app that tracks movies that I want to see, movies I own, etc. it would be nice if I could have just one app for it!

Clunky & Inconvenient
I guess they created this during Covid, I just went to a Movie Tavern Theater last night and encountered this miserable app for the first time. It takes 8 clicks to get to the menu to order something, times out half the time if you shut your phone off, then you have to do 8 clicks again, taking you away from the movie you came to watch. Plus this app doesn’t let you order alcohol, doesn’t let you call your server for issues, gives you a time limit of 1 hour from the start of the movie to order food—which lead to me not ordering any food because I was watching a 3 hour movie and was unaware of the time limit. This app is trying to reinvent the wheel and failed spectacularly. There’s a reason why servers and call buttons have been a staple in restaurants for over a century.

Why so much work?
The only seamless part for me was downloading the new app (which begs the question- why a new app?). After being unable to sign into my account and the new app not recognizing my rewards number, I contacted customer support. I ended up having to create a new account so that I could purchase tickets, and then when customer support finally got back to me, they had to deactivate my new account and link my old account to the new app. Painful. Now the app functionality itself- junk. I can’t skip ahead to Tuesday to see what is playing at my home theater that day. I have to sort through a big list of “now playing” shows, some of which are really old, pick a movie, page ahead to my desired date, then hope that movie is even showing at a theater within 200 miles of me. Not worth it. I’ll stay home and watch Netflix on Tuesdays now.

Why didn’t it update and not great visually
First of all, big props to updating their previous app which looked like it was developed by a toddler. As for this app, they definitely didn’t follow the basic best practices- at least for iPhone. The app didn’t update, you had to install a new version which while not a big deal shouldn’t need to happen. The bigger issue is the layout of the movies and times. The app navigation is much better, but when you view a load of movies the movie title is same color as type and size (eg dreamlounger). And in some cases theatre type (like 4DX) is actually bigger than the movie title. They didn’t follow some basi common sense and just not have not any usability testing. A few small tweaks and this will go from 3 stars to 5!

Easy to navigate but leaves out pivotal information about theaters.
This app makes getting tickets to movies very easy. Much easier than doing it online or in person. But what the app doesn’t do is tell you in store policies. I recently purchased tickets for a 6:10pm showing of Jurassic world but wasn’t able to see the movie because of policies in place about minors having to be accompanied by a adult after 6. No where in the app when purchasing my tickets was i given a warning. So i effectively wasted both time and money on something that could have been told to me before i bought my tickets. There is a warning on the website so why is there not one in the app.

Updates not always debugged
Mostly, I love using the app. It lets me skip lines at the theater. But things get upset when a major app update comes along. Updates don’t happen often, but when they do, I’ve found that the passport numbers I’ve installed, don’t show up on screen, so I have to re-enter them each time, and payment for snacks by gift card disappears. It was working smoothly before updates, and then after updates, some things just disappear. Both passports and gift cards were still in the app, so it wasn’t like I just had to reinstall the numbers (which shouldn’t be necessary either)

Significant usability degradation
In recent months, this app has developed several frustrating usability issues. Most significantly, movie passports added to the app can’t be selected to be added to a seat purchase anymore. You need to have already copied the pass number to the clipboard (from your email, since the text is not selectable in the passport tab!) or written it on paper. If you press back or exit the app while dealing with this, the app will drop your reservation while still holding the seat for the 6 minute reservation window. Additionally, the skip button on the app splash screen doesn’t skip, it still counts down the 8 seconds of the preview. This is getting in the way of users who want to pay you money!

Disappointed
App does not allow you to apply multiple gift cards for a single transaction or combine gift card balances. Why? Having a family of young children, we wanted to purchase all of our seats together. However, we were forced to process each of our gift cards as a separate purchase. Of course, by the time we completed the first purchase, the other seats we released and were already taken by someone else. We all had to sit in completely different sections making this a very frustrating experience. Please add the ability to combine cards or allow multiple cards to be used for a single purchase. That is the only way to guarantee you get the seats you want without having them released back to the public. Thanks!!

Why are y’all complainin’?
I just saw the message in the old app as it was a movie title. I thought it was a funny way of doing it, especially if they weren't able to do a notification. Y’all know the owner likes his comedy if you have ever been to a movie at a Marcus theatre. Chill out guys. The new app is absolutely amazing and so needed. I was able to easily add my magical movies reward card to it with no issues. I selected the movie I wanted, and got to pay with Apple Pay which is really convenient. This is so much better than the old app that crashed on me every other second. Thanks for listening to people!

Very unhappy!
I tried purchasing 2 tickets and used $5 gift card thinking I could use another gift card to finish the purchase. The app would not let me finish paying with any method of payment. So I cancelled the purchase since it told me i needed to. Now my $5 gift card is gone! I know it’s $5 but its $5!!! So I do NOT endorse this updated version. Please be aware that only ONE type of payment can be made and that needs to be in full. Buyer beware!! Now I cannot even put in a nickname for this review. Ugh.

Might not be the worst app, but it’s close
This app is worthless. My wife is a teacher and has received hundreds of dollars of gift cards to Marcus Theaters. And now we can’t use them on this new app. One brand new card it says has $0, but when we take it in, they say it has &10. Another card they say has $10, but after you upload the card to the app, it claims it can not access the money. Usually when you “update” something you improve it. You have just gone backwards and made it harder. Maybe Greg should stop making promos and start actually overseeing the business. Update - after unanswered emails and phone calls that went nowhere, I log in tonight and now they tell me my gift cards are “inactive” instead of “Unable to access the cards at this time”. So how do I get that money back?

User friendly, but missing a few creature comforts
App works as advertised. However, changing the name of the app is undesirable. It makes it difficult to find when using apple search function. I’d also like to see the magical movie rewards card available for addition to the apple wallet as you can with the tickets. Makes it very convenient for frequent users. I’m not sure where people are getting charged large service fees. I usually get charged around 0.20 for a $5 ticket. Additionally the food ordering system is very convenient I’m looking forward to global roll out.

Not allowing purchase
So I’ve always used the app to purchase my tickets whenever I want to see a movie. Recently though I tried to purchase some and it kept telling my my card was declined. After reaching out to my bank they said the issue was on the apps end. So I tried to enter the same card info onto the main website and it finally worked, though I was charged for a service fee even though through the app I wouldn’t have been. I’m not too worried about the service fee, but I wish there were a way for me to enter a ticket. Hopefully someone who works on the app sees this and can possibly fix it, since I’m 100% sure my card info I entered into the main website and on the app were identical.

Rewards won’t transfer
I just downloaded the new Marcus Theatres app to view the movie schedules at my local theatre, because the old app no longer supports my theatre. When I tried to create an account, it wouldn’t accept my last name which has two parts to it. “Special Characters” are not accepted, and apparently the program for this app considers a space between the two parts of my name to be a special character. So, I took the space out. Next, I tried to connect my rewards to the app, but failed. It claims that my last name doesn’t match the number I used. I tried all sorts of variations (space, no space, hyphen, only half of my last name), but nothing works. This app is utterly useless to me. Please fix it. Why was a new app even created. I was perfectly happy with the old one.

Apple Pay won’t work
Suddenly my app can no longer access Apple Pay. I don’t want to have to go searching for my wallet to enter in payment info which is why I typically use AP…it always used to be able to access it and why have it as an option if it can’t be used anymore then??? While I’m here I also have consistently asked for doors to be shown when buying tickets. For people who have bladder, GI, or other health issues it’s pretty important to know where the door is in case you need to make a quick exit and don’t want to have to walk over everyone and their mother and all their belongings on the floor on the way to the door…

Buggy, full of ads
Very frustrating app. I bought a Passport for four movies. You have to specifically go to Passport in the menus to “buy” your tickets. Kind of annoying, wish it let you apply things during the normal checkout process. But not end of the world. Then there’s the rest of it. When you buy tickets the app surfaces a bunch of ads and “specials” you can sign up for when you’re just viewing the order confirmation. The actual tickets interface drives me up the wall, though. Because I have the passport, I have 8 tickets listed on this screen. Except you can’t see them all, you can’t even scroll through them all. I have to collapse some tickets then expand them again, which seems to expand the scrolling area and finally lets me see everything. Then there’s the add to wallet button, which works maybe 50% of the time. If it doesn’t work, the only repeatable fix is to entirely close the app and hope it works the next time. I’m shocked by the score the app has on here. Must have gotten worse over time.

Time
A month or so ago,we went to the theater and it opened at 11:00 AM. Today we went to the theater, the door was open but the lady there said the theater was closed and didn’t open until noon. I asked her the first movie started at 11:55. She promptly said’ we must open before noon’. It would be nice if they had a sign someplace that would tell people what time they open. Oh, I was not real impressed with the ladies attitude either. We have been going to the Marcus in Oakdale for a long time and I was kind of disappointed. We still plan on going there but hopefully will be better.

Please put movie pics under each movie theater
In the old app, when I brought up my local movie theatre, I could see the various movies that were playing along WITH the picture of the movie. This new version does not have pictures, only the titles. I have to go all the way back into the app to then see the main “advertised” picture icon for the specific movies. Can u please add back the picture icons for the movies when I bring up the individual theatre movie times? Many people rely on the picture to remind them of what the movie is. Titles are hard to remember in and of themselves related to the content.

What were they thinking
The user interface designer for this app is almost certainly committing crimes against humanity with this layout. You have a narrow horizontal scroll on the food menu - WHAT? Why is it so hard to see what food I can order? Want to use Apple Pay? Only works half the time. Did you just buy tickets and want to go back to the Home Screen? The home button is all the way at the bottom of a long screen - why? Just to torture me? If it is faster for me to force quit the app and re-open it than find the button to go to the previous screen, you have failed as a user interface designer. The app is convenient to have but miserable to actually use.

Worst movie app ever!
OMG! I am SO frustrated using this app that I no longer want to go to a movie, and it’s cheap movie night! I can view trailers on one screen, but I don’t know if that movie is playing at my theater. I can see what’s playing at my theater but I can’t view the trailers to see if I’d like to go to that movie. So I need to dance between screens and try to remember what I was looking for and where and then go back to the other screen. In one theater I’m shown what seats remain before I purchase so I can pick my seats or go to a different movie if there aren’t multiple seats together. At another theater I have to choose the number of seats I want at various price points and purchase them, but I have no idea how many seats are even available! Aarrrggghhh!

Great app, pretty easy to use
I’ve been enjoying this app. It makes buying my tickets easy. Only 2 little issues this far; 1. It took quite a few tries before the app accepted my card. It said ‘payment declined by the provider,’ or something to that effect, which was frustrating in the moment. 2. I think my tickets should be on the main screen; going in to my account to find them is just inconvenient. Otherwise, it’s a great app, would definitely recommend.

Give us back the old App!
This is terrible from a user standpoint! It loads automatically to movies, not local theaters, with no option to change. I'm really glad the movie I want to see is showing in the neighboring state, but how about what's playing here?! If your local theater actually loads from favorites after several minutes, you get a free eye test trying to select seats. Was there something wrong with check marks and x marks? Now it's gray and lighter gray, and tiny lines that show seats that are connected. It's impossible to see! Not to mention it could be a lot clearer which movies are bistro service. I'm done. We have a Alamo too - it's more expensive and farther away, but its app is easy and straight forward, so I know what I'm getting.

Great app - could be better - just got worse
I use the app all the time. I don’t buy tickets at the theater anymore, I only buy through the app. Positives: Convenient, quick, and mostly intuitive. Negatives: Sometimes crashes while using, lets you use ApplePay for tickets but not for food (huh?), and recently added annoying in-app ads and sales pop-ups that you have to scroll through to move forward. (If they get more invasive, I’ll stop using the app!)

Limited to Three
What is the point of limiting my “favorite theatres” options to a maximum of three? I live in a city with four theatres and have no issue driving to whichever one is the most convenient for me, but without being able to quickly search through all of my theatre options, I have to clunkily navigate to Theatres > States > Scroll to each threatre to sort by movie and showtimes. It just seems like such an arbitrary restriction and I can’t imagine how inconvenient it is for people living in large cities who have way more theatre options than I do.

Least intuitive app I’ve ever used
There are four movie theaters in Baytown I finally decided to set up an account and when I did it asked me to select three favorite movie theaters which did not allow me to select the fourth should be fine right now it’s now harder to find the force movie theater than when I just continued as a guest. Then after finally selecting the showtime and seats and all of that, if you even think about leaving the app for any reason, it’ll kick you back to the start screen, and to top it off the seats you selected 30 seconds prior will be considered unavailable. So many poor decisions from such a large company is unacceptable

Better in some ways, but not others
The old Marcus app would crash after viewing two different movie times, and this version improves on that. But the new design is not very user friendly. Accessing the rewards card is clumsy, requiring too many steps when you’re standing in line at the theater. The new app has also removed the function of displaying which showings are sold out, so you can’t find that out without trying to order tickets. I would suggest adding that back in and making the rewards card available through the Wallet app.

Slow load
Before last update, you would have a list of all theatres in order of distance from your location. Now you choose your top three theaters and if you want to check other theaters you have to go to the state and then go through alphabetically to the one you want. When you choose the theater, it spins and spins for up to 30 seconds before it loads the theater and movies playing. Not fun when you check multiple locations. Never fix something that is not broken.

New app is a downgrade
The app is generally slow and has lots of load screens for every operation. It does nothing to justify the creation of a new app when the old one worked just as well if not better. The old app allowed for filtering movies by location. This old system is much easier and allows users to find movies and showtimes much faster. When you select a movie, changing the day you are looking at is a slow and annoying process. It should just be a drop down menu and not the arrow over one day at a time with load times between each day method they have now. Also please add some form of notification when movie tickets are available for purchase. This was an option when ticket purchasing went through Fandango that absolutely needs to return. Currently there are showtimes available for movies but no tickets are available for purchase so why even show them? Allow for notifications when these tickets become available.

Needs work
The app is still very very slow despite multiple updates!!The seats need to be color-coded better for instants in the theater at the register their available seats are green it is very hard to see black and gray on a black background! There should be a way for you to look up your rewards card number by phone number or email in the app , it is impossible to add an existing rewards card to the app without the card number so people sign up for multiple cards and it makes a huge mess. It would also be helpful if the app indicated whether or not shows are sold out especially on 5 dollar Tuesday!!

Slow loading & “not available”
This app is very poorly designed. I had the old app and it never gave me too much of an issue. The new app takes way to long to load (and it doesn’t matter if you are on wi-fi or not). I couldn’t get my rewards account to pull up in the actual theater. Every time I try to buy tickets for any movie that is more than a week out it says “no tickets available, check back.” I can purchase them just fine on the computer or another app such as Fandango. Very disappointed in the way this app works. Makes it pretty pointless to even have the app if you can’t buy tickets on it. Hope someone from the company can address this.
