The Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska app has been one of the worst iOS apps possible for years. Now with the most recent September, 2022 update, the developers (and we use that term very loosely) have managed to somehow make it even worse. Extremely difficult to navigate, virtually impossible to use. Oh and even though the app is mostly just a wrapper/browser of the BCBS Nebraska website, your password has to be reset for you to use. If the actual insurance wasn’t the best, the rates not extremely competitive, and the company one of the oldest, most established and most respected health insurance companies in the nation one might be tempted to believe this was a joke or scam, from their iOS app. It’s not, but you may find yourself like me giving serious consideration to going Amish because of this app. There aren’t very many good choices for health insurance, and if you have Blue Cross Blue Shield don’t download this app. You’ll thank me later.
You will not be able to find the worst health insurance app in the App Store! Every time you want to log in it throw you to the browser so the app is worthless to have it on your phone. And even on the website it is slooooooooooooooow to open page in full. So get your coffee, popcorn and a movie and wait for it to open. Looks like “developer” of this app is out of the world of programming cause with today technology this app looks like was developed by 3yo who was just clapping on the keyboard with open hand and have fun with what popped up on the screen, which was this app!
slow app. requires typing in full login credentials every time. should use biometric or at least retain userid. took less than 2 minutes of use to get an endless spinning wheel of death indicating app was locked. can shuffle through the console of my car and pull out paper ID card faster than i can pull it up on this app. would only use the app if there was a problem or issue and there seems to be no way to address anything awry with the app, only view high level descriptions.
I see a lot of comments here that are a little older and they reference the app being slow or not easy to use. I just downloaded it and was able to view my insurance card and review my past claims pretty easily.. so I guess it at least does what I expected it to.
If I could give this app zero stars I would. There’s no functionality to it and it constantly crashes and freezes. The design interface is not attractive. This app needs a total rehaul to even be worth using. You think for how much money this company makes off the average hard-working person they would be able to afford to create a better working app.
What is the point of having the app on my phone if I can’t rely on the information provided. Thankfully the doctors I have seen have been covered by the insurance, but their location and phone number have not been updated. I call disconnected phone numbers and when I tried to call a general practice office it connected me to a hospital. 😒 Do better
I’ve never been one to write an app review…until now. Believe every single one star review for this app. It’s completely useless and was on my phone for less than 5 minutes before I deleted it. Come on BCBS…you’ve got enough money to have someone develop something functional. 0-5 stars…would not recommend.
When you open the app, the first thing you notice is it doesn’t fit the screen on a modern iPhone. It looks like it hasn’t been updated for half a decade. There’s no functionality to securely store your ID card in Apple Wallet and it refused to display my ID card in the app too.
I wish this were an actual app instead of just opening the website. The website is sooooo slow and anytime you try to click on anything, it takes a bit to load.
If you are looking for quick access to your information you will get faster service calling the customer service number on the back of the card. The app is slow, cumbersome, no login info is saved, and it locks up frequently. We just switched to BCBS from UHC and the app capability is night and day difference...
It’s extremely slow. It’s almost just a web browser and not an actually app. Most the time you click on something it doesn’t even register. Please fix this, we pay a lot of insurance. We should have access to a easily usable app.
This app is literally just a web browser of their website. Super pointless to download and almost works worse than just using your choice of browser. The old app wasn’t great, but this is just plain lazy. You’d think we all paid enough to get a decent app…
Where to start? It doesn’t save your login. It’s web based not app. Nothing loads once you are in. Exit any page or try and go back and it kicks you out and you have to log back in. Awful product.
I was able to log in and see my recent claims but found the app sluggish and not too responsive. Never was able to view my ID card. User interface doesn't look like it was designed for iPhone 7 plus.
I can barely get past entering my password without having issues with this app. It locks up. I clicked on a link about covid then had to kill the app just to be able to go back. Every attempt at using this app ends in complete disappointment and frustration.
This has to win for WORST APP out there. It’s an app but basically a mask app for the website. It’s useless, doesn’t give you the info that you need and overall very frustrating. The website itself is NOT any better. Do better BCBS!
Had some high hope with the app considering the size of the business and the amount of customer they have, totally disappointed. Coming from a web dev background, the UI/UX of the app lack of thoughts and logic. It looked like it was developed offshore with a budget team.
App feels like I’m on dial up internet. Freezes, won’t scroll, long lag after selection. It’s been this way for years. You guys going to make it better any time soon?
For the amount of $ people pay toward health insurance, there’s really no excuse for a crappy app. Give us something to work with… not this sad attempt of an app.
This is less of an app, and more of a browser. No Apple Wallet support for ID cards like other BCBS state apps have. Please release a new version that is comparable to other states!
My employer just switched from UHC to BCBS so I’m used to the UHC app which is so helpful. This app is just a fancy list of bookmarks to their website, not actually useful or helpful.
Obviously a wrapped website. Website is bad UI. Unusable. I’ll quote two other reviews I agree with: “This app looks like it was designed by a 5 year old” “Just don’t”
