Good app, but still find myself preferring the website at times

Been using the site for years and been hoping for an app version one day. When I found out MDL was getting an app version I downloaded it as soon as It dropped. So far it’s been working great until maybe the last couple months…. Mostly all the features work fine however, more than a few times. I’ve noticed that every time I open a show page to look at the drama info and want to scroll down past the synopsis section, the app completely freezes up and I can’t do anything except close the app completely. I make sure I update the app as often as possible and I do understand that there may be bugs but, the constant freezing of the app just keeps me from actually using the app so much that I still keep finding myself just using the site on my web browser instead.

Prefer browser version

The app works fine but I prefer the looks of the mobile and desktop versions. App doesn’t seem to show everything on a drama’s page and my personal watchlist isn’t as sortable as it is on the regular version. The app is simple to use at least and not hard to figure out so I’ll still recommend it. P. S. I’ve found that if you block someone, you’ll still see their comments on the app. Please fix this, I block people so I don’t have to see their negative, unconstructive comments.

Great for finding new dramas!

I’ve been using the website for many years and have only recently downloaded the app. It has an easy to use and seamless interface which I love- it’s not too cluttered which makes it easy to navigate. It has everything the website did, so keeping track of what you’ve watched, plan to watch + recommendations is super easy. The only thing I would add is the possibility to browse photos of the dramas since I am unable to find this option on the app and it’s something which I always use to get a feel of the dramas and the cast. Overall, it’s a pretty good app so far!

I really enjoy this app. It’s wonderful and so convenient to be able to keep track of the dramas/movies I watch in such detailed ways. However, I would really like if users were able to view the comments they made under posts and dramas/movies. It really hurts not to be able to find a comment again after you’ve posted it—this also prevents users from having/continuing conversations with other users. Love this app, but would greatly appreciate if this aspect changed!

please fix certain issues

1. I can’t scroll past the first few comments at the bottom of any page, the pages always freezes up when it comes to scrolling. 2. certain emojis in custom lists titles and descriptions do not appear on this site or the app. 3. I’d really appreciate if someone please adds a “sort by release date” for series custom lists and watch lists.

Great app! Great support!

This app is the perfect tool for anyone who loves and watches lots of Asian dramas. All the show info in one place: show description, where to watch it, who are the actors, etc. When I first downloaded the app I had trouble with it freezing and not being able to scroll… I sent a note to the app developers describing the issue and they fixed it within a couple days! It works great with the new update. I love this app!

Quick and streamlined.

Been using MDL since 2019. Didn't even know there was an app till now. Every feature I use MDL for works perfect. Much easier, quicker, and looks better than the mobile site. 🤙 People with low ratings are trying to use MDL as a social media platform, for whatever reason. Go use Reddit if you wanna do serious chit chat. 🙄

a couple bugs

has a couple bugs here and there. main one being the watch lists seem to merge sometimes, like my plan to watch is suddenly all my already watched dramas. one thing i would say is that i do not like the recommended for you section. it should change depending on what you watch. it is the same exact list since the day i joined my drama list and i’ve been using the app for about 5 years.

Better than the website

I spent way too long using the website on my phone browser. This app gives me more ways to sort my lists and just looks better on my phone. I haven’t had any issues with it so far.

Love and love but

Hello I just have few things I kinda wish it says if the show ends good or not, and a lot of the shows I searched up on this app yk where it says where to watch please add the HiTV app I found most of my shows on HiTV even when this app does not have it.

Buggy mess

I’ve tried I’ve tried, but this is just such a sucky app. It is definitely a web rapper around something. It just doesn’t work. Please stop using Web technologies in App Store apps. It never works out right this hot garbage doesn’t do anything it pretty much just takes up space on my phone. Sometimes I can get some information out of it for more often and not it just locks up. I can’t tap anything just wow.

Not user friendly

You can’t see the photos for shows. If there’s a way it’s not easy enough to navigate to be able to find them. There’s not helpful section of what shows are starting or ending in the current week. Future shows actors are in are mixed and at the bottom or in the middle and not in date order.

I want this app to work so badly

I have been on since the beta version praying for the app to improve. It freezes and lags constantly (even if it is the only app I have running) on ever device I have tried. (I’m currently on an iPhone 15 pro max.) I keep having to revert to the website just to update my lists.

Drama list app!

Just really happy there’s an app I didn’t know about. Having to navigate the website to quickly add titles was pretty inconvenient

Useless

This is my second review. I am just so frustrated by how completely useless this app is. Is there anyone of the developers out there reading these reviews. Can we get a response? I am going to delete and try using the website. Why bother putting a product out when it is rarely and most often non-functional?

Wasted potential

This app just never works. It has potential but there are just too many bugs when using the app which ruins the user experience and forces users to go back to the website which is unfortunately less convenient now that they’re more accustomed to the app.

Could be better

Please fix app

Your app decided to stop working. It will not allow me to search titles, go on my profile, etc. Also, you should add the option that as soon as someone starts typing in the name it goes off of your previous search and brings up what you previously searched. Sort of like what google does. Having to type in pretty much the whole title over and over is redundant. Especially since there’s sometimes a ton of titles with the same name or close. So make it more user focused if possible. Otherwise I enjoy using it without having to go on to the web browser all the time!

Hmm.. Mobile Site Works Better?

MDL mobile site works better: – (1) It loads faster. Every time I open MDL App, it is very, very slow to start. No other app is as slow as this. I'm on the latest iOS and my phone is still relatively new. Even if I keep the app running in the background, it'll take a good 5 seconds+ to start up. It's faster to open MDL website that I bookmarked on Safari. – (2) Notifications will take me directly to the comment reply. However, MDL App fails to do this. If it tells me someone replied to my comment, tapping on that notification brings me to the Drama page.. but sorts the comments from recent to oldest. It makes me DIG for the comment I left, just to see the reply. 99% of the time, I can't find it. Mobile website does it right. MDL App fails to navigate users to the comment in question. For those 2 reasons alone, I am uninstalling the app. The site works great on its Mobile counterpart via Safari browser for iPhone. It does the job perfectly, shows me the comment replies when I tap on the Notification, and is quick to load. The MDL App has a lot of room for improvement before it gets a spot on my App Library.

I wish the official version was never added to the AppStore

I have had the beta version downloaded for at least a year and half and I never had any real issues. Just last week I was kicked out of the beta testing so I realized it was added to the AppStore. It worked the same at first but now I’m facing issues that I never had to before. Suddenly I can’t edit the shows on my watchlist. When I try to edit it from the actual list it’s just a perpetual loading pinwheel and when I go to the shows page the option isn’t even available. In addition, I can’t even look up shows and actors anymore because the results won’t load. I personally don’t understand why there would suddenly be bugs that weren’t there during beta testing but I hope it gets fixed soon. As the website isn’t exactly mobile-friendly, this app was a lifesaver when I first started expanding the content I watched but these issues make it difficult to use the app for the way it was meant to be used. I really enjoyed the app prior to all this so I look forward to the continued improvement of the official AppStore version.

I like it but

I do enjoy the app since I can keep track of what I’m watching but I would also like it to be fixed. It keeps loading when I want to update on the episodes I’ve watched and the series I want to watch.

Good BUT

The app need alil more improvement, but thank god the updated will pull up the comments who reply to you instead of going back to the comments and find the response, that was annoying. Overall I like how it keep me posted on what dramas coming soon, show ratings and I can saved to watch later. And I especially love it all show all actors and what their up coming dramas will be .

Google Login

My dramalist account is linked to my gmail, and every time i try to login with gmail, i am kicked out of the app. I’m writing this even after there was an update to fix the google login. I will continue using the website but I hope the app will allow me to sign in soon😁 EDIT: IT WORKS YAYY

The best app

I've been supporting this site for years. They have been by far the best way to view and organize the eastern shows I've been watching. Always my #1 choice for looking up new shows and the casts in shows I'm watching.

More Features Please

Overall I love that I’m able to add shows easily on my phone. Now I don’t know if maybe I’m not looking in the right place but I would really love to be able to see lists that other users make. I always loved that feature from the website.

Wish I could see my custom lists

I wish it would show the custom lists I’ve created so that I can add to them quickly and easily rather having to go on the website. I have a note in my phone dedicated to keeping track of the dramas and things I watch and I’ve been trying to switch it over to dramacool and i just wish the app could be easier to use for that

So glad the Beta has finally turned OFFICIAL!

I’ve been using the flight test Beta of MDL for quite some time now. So glad it’s finally here for the public! LET’S GOOOOO!!!!! 🥳 Side note: I will up it a star rating when ya’ll finally allow GagaOOLala and YouTube to count as viewing locations. There is no reason to not allow them as where to find things to watch officially without pirated streaming. And 5 stars when you finally include Vietnamese made items of all genres. Ya’ll have dragged the timing out on adding that for far too many years. There is no excuse not to be able to start trickling actors and series into the database. Thanks 🇻🇳🫶🏻 **Oh! Almost forgot. It would be amazing to have production companies listed on everything. To be able to select the production company and see everything they’ve produced in one spot would be amazing! 🥰

False rating

Obviously production team paid them to give the shows and movies boosted rating highest false rating is 8.5 , i wonder how it stays 8.5 when almost 4 thousand people rated it as 1 on IMDB and google ..such frauds .. keep your fraudulent app that doesn’t reflect peoples rating correctly

Great Concept - Horrible Implementation!!!

Save yourself some time and just use the internet website - MyDramaList.com is AWESOME! Their APP is Not!! Locks up immediately when using, closes while using, can’t expand. I don’t know if they don’t have enough server space or bandwidth to handle the traffic but it NEVER works and I just end up going to the website. Seems like a failed attempt to make money. Half the reviews are now 1/zero stars. Sorry I have to leave this review - maybe they will be motivated to do something about it. Especially since they this is what the company does - Daebak Media!
