We live in CA and have friends in Erwin, TN. This App has been great in keeping us informed of events in their area, especially this years extreme weather. CA needed the El Niño desperately for the rain and snow but this was the first time I was able to really follow its impact across the country. Your app kept us informed, some times hour by hour as events progressed. Very impressed and thank you as the alerts had us staying in closer contact with our friends during what seemed to be a "100 Year Event" in the east.
At first this app was good and a great way to keep up with local news , weather and sports. As time went on I noticed that they rarely update the page. Often times they leave the same news story up for days if not , stories / news events that are a week old. They often speak of extra news reports by clicking on an embedded icon / link - which never works. 1 star rating for their " current and update " news stories. The only section they seem to care about is the weather. Weather information - 4 stars. Sports , very , very poor job. As before , if you missed anything a week ago , you will be able to read about it because it's still there - no updates , only about two new stories a day. Sports - 1 star. Very disappointed in this app.
Unfortunately WCYB’s app has always been horrendous. I submitted feedback to the staff regarding audio not loading in videos, advised of the iOS version (I always have current) and they did something to make the videos finally play sound. I was excited - until I had an update and then the videos once again had no audio. And forget about the Closed Captioning - also horrendous, most of the time it’s jibberish. I gave up. I still used the app but only looked at stories I could read. Now WCYB is not even bothering putting text with their news pieces in their app, which makes it completely useless. They may as well save whatever minimal resources they are utilizing for effort and money into the app and drop it all together. It’s a complete waste. Deleted!
I usually use this app to check the weather forecast pretty much every day. Plus local news that catches my eye. I rarely have any crash issues. If there are any on the app side it is usually fixed promptly. Overall it is a good app. My only complaint is the Doppler radar isn't as accurate as other apps. Probably just an issue of relying on the NWS radar in Morristown, TN as its main source.
This is the best fake news I’ve seen in a long time. They are almost as bad as CNN. All of the stories are comically one sided. They block people on Facebook who have different opinions than they do, and if you don’t get blocked they taunt you with passive aggressive comebacks like have “a nice day” or “thanks for the feedback, we’ll look into it” but they don’t mean any of that. All in all this app is great for laughs at the end of the day after you’ve paid your ridiculously expensive insurance premiums and deductibles
It's better than nothing at all, and it is annoying trying to scroll and hitting ads at the bottom by accident, maybe add a pro version and charge like $1.99 for it. Also it would be nice to organize the side menu with selections that lead into sub categories. Anyway thanks for the news app it is cool and I would love to see it become more interactive with the news team. Also great work who ever put this together, I know it had to take some effort and I bet the Buggs and crashes were tough to work out at first. Thanks again.
Recently bought iPhone 11 and installed my favorite local news app. After viewing an article, I cannot return to the main menu from in the app. I have to shut it down and restart to get the main menu back.
I wanted to rate this app with 0 stars, but every time I tried to write this review, it would never let me start out with 0 stars; it always started at 1 star. I am disgusted and embarrassed that this is a representation of my local news organization! This app has had serious editorial errors since it first began, as well as a general lack in updating the stories, etc. I went on this app tonight, to read about the tragic deaths of members of a family I grew up with. I was disgusted to see the complete lack of ANY sort of editing. This is an insult to those who care for the family involved. It shows News5's COMPLETE lack of compassion or decency when compiling a story. It's only "news" to this corporation, apparently. I understand neutrality and needing to meet deadlines in journalism, but there is such a thing as respect. Respect for the situation you report about, as well as respect for your reputation as journalists. I will be removing this app.
This app has everything you would want including local news, weather, and sports. I like having school closings, the radar, video updates, and more in one place. Thanks WCYB!
This update for this app is quite literally the stupidest bunch of nonsense I have ever witnessed. I can’t even check the local school closings, because the application wants to send me to an alternate website and my won’t let me view the domain of which it requires to view it. I have a brand new iPhone, so I know it isn’t due to software failure on my part. Seriously, the simplest thing on the entire application is officially as useless as this updated app.
Although there appears to be a better use of spellcheck, the update fails. The new layout is a giant step back and looks more like a school news website. The ads are too large and jump as you scroll the news articles making it more likely to click on the ads rather than the articles. If I could undo this update, I would.
This app is great, however it cuts the live news broadcast off and I have to completely close it out and by the time I open the app back up I have missed half of the segment. Please fix this, this is by far the best local news app. Keep up the good work WCYB!

I enjoy the app and have always watched news 5. My only complaint is the advertisements being directly over top of the weather forecast making it impossible to see.
After the ANNOYING repeat ads from chase , farmers , and the trading company the app always freezes . Love the team and the station but it's hardly worth the hassle to try to watch now . Can't you offer a paid version for a few bucks to get rid of those ads !!?
App gets worse after each update. Latest update loads slow or not at all. What Kindergarten class does your app? I want to stay away from them. Pretty much useless. Would give less than 1 star if possible. App support page says 404 not found. REALLY? Come on guys get outta the 20th century and come into the 21st century. iPhone 6 Plus. iOS 10
This app is infuriating. What’s the point of notifications if it doesn’t actually bring you to the article you were notified about? It brings me to the app where you can’t even find the article that you were notified about!!! I left this app for a long time and NOW I remember why.
My husband and I watch WCYB News every morning, noon and night! The WCYB Staff is professional and personable. Great job reporting the news and weather! Will not watch anything but WCYB!
For the last several days there is no content in the sub menus. Pertinent information like Schedule Changes and Closings cannot be found, and we are in midst of a winter storm!
This used to be a great app but the constant ads by the same company running 2-3 times during commercial breaks...either Farmers Insurance or Window World....it's beyond annoying. Why bother using the app now...Seriously there must be other methods to generate revenue or go find more advertisers.
This was a real nice app till last update now ads pop up as soon as it opens and with a screen that don't work in spots can't get them off the screen. Guess I'll have to find something new now.
