Makes things difficult
I get logged out far too often. It also needs to allow for updating past days if we forget to log an activity on the day we complete it. Would be great to have more automated logging from Apple Health and/or other fitness apps.

Long time user
I have had this ap and the body tracer scale for years and I love it!!! I was first introduced to Newtopia through a work program and lost a fair amount of weight with my coach while on the program. I then left the company but even after leaving, I continued to use the ap/ scale because I love it so much. I have not had any issues with it except for one time and it turned out the batteries were low. As soon as I changed them it started working perfectly again. So in 4+ years I have only had to change the batteries 1 time and have not had any other issues. (And I step on almost daily). My only item on the wish list is to figure out how to pull my years of data out of the ap into a spread sheet. Future enhancement I hope.

Room to improve
The new app is easy to use and have helped me lose 16 lbs in a year in a healthy way. However, the goal setting function have limited function. It limits exercise to “taking steps” and ignore strength training, stretching, and flexibility. If all someone do is walk and run without strength training, ultimately that’s not good for overall health. If all someone does is walk and run at some point they might develop joints, back, and flexibility issues due to weak core and limited range of movements.

Can’t track food or take pictures
I signed up for this but so far I am not able to add my food intake or take pictures. I appear to not have the same Home Screen as everyone else. I have uninstalled and reinstalled as suggested but it never works. It has been 2 weeks now and so far no one has called me back to trouble shoot this issue.

Really clunky
Not sure if this is a back-end issue, but it’s no longer tracking my steps from my FitBit, even though I have it linked. It also logs me out way too often and deletes my steps.

Not great on iPhone 14
Any fixes in the works to make app more compatible with iPhone 14? The Settings and Calendar icon at the very top of the screen are difficult to tap. Have to try multiple times before app recognizes the tap.

Doesn’t track exercise
This app only tracks steps, not actual exercise. Even though the data is right there on the phone, this app fails to grab and track it. What’s worse, you can’t even manually import it, not even a screen grab! Someone is a lazy app builder, and this one is worthless. One star is too generous, but I had to give it one, to write this review.

Very limited and mostly useless app
This app is not able to sync with other apps and/or smart devices to track workouts. Unable to reschedule appointments and unable edit/delete unwanted weight entries, my son uses the scale provided and the app is recording both entries, mine and my sons. In other words, this app is mostly useless

I don’t know why anyone would use this company.
This app is horrible. I’m not sure why my employer wastes their money subscribing to this company. Here’s just a few issues: Goals go away with no way to review past goals. If you cancel a coaching session, because the app doesn’t let you reschedule, you then cannot choose a new time because it tells you that you’ve reached your monthly session limit. Steps don’t always update. All of my other fitness apps sync steps just fine, but not this app. There’s no fitness or workout sections. Only steps and food.

Unclear
The app is annoying. Unclear on how to do things. You can’t control anything only your inspirator can…They tell you to do thing on the app you can’t even do. Stopped using the program that was free to me because I can’t stand the fact that we can only use the app.

One of the most inept an incomplete apps I’ve ever had to use I deleted it twice but I have to use it because I’m in the stupid program so are use it because I have to not because I want to use it.

poor data integration
Limited data collection options: Apple or Fitbit. Any data collected in that app or companion device like the body trace scale cannot be share with any external source. The app is more for the health coach than it is for the end user.

Inspirators always late and never available
Every time it came time for my session, I got a text about how she’d be late! On the app there is no availability. Thanks for nothing.

Lackluster
The app should be more like MyFitnessPal and offer more to it. It’s very limited, the only thing it really does is offer meal ideas (if you heart/like recipes it should go to a my recipe section with all your saves) and tracks your weight. Should get the option for calorie tracking and working tracking. The weekly goals are a little lame, would be better if the app had a place to track food intake and then the weekly goals would be more help. They should really take some of what MyFitnessPal is doing to improve the newtopia app.

Not user friendly
My old body trace scale stopped connecting to this app. Tech support did lots of troubleshooting and determined the scale was bad. This time, they gave me an option between the body trace (cellular connection) or YUNMAI (Bluetooth connection). I opted for the yunmai bc at least then i know it would be based on my Bluetooth connection vs cellular which only worked in my kitchen (not the most convenient location for a scale!). YUNMAI scale arrived today and I got it working and connecting to my phone via Bluetooth onto their app. This is where it gets fuzzy...the directions they included with the scale for connecting to Apple Health and the newtopia app are not great. They’ve updated the apps ever so slightly, making the directions nonsense. I am unable to get the two apps to speak to one another without getting tech support on the phone. Most technology these days is intuitive and very user friendly...this app is not either of those things.

Great App
I’m not sure why others are saying it doesn’t work with Fitbit, because mine syncs flawlessly. The app functions as it should and I appreciate the ease of scheduling/rescheduling appointments, the links that can be accessed that my inspirator uploads for me and the other tools to help get or keep me on track.

Buggy and doesn’t work with Fitbit
As many have noted, it doesn’t work with Fitbit and clearly has issues connecting to APIs. I’m using the BodyTrace scale and looks like it’s stopped connecting to that, too. I have an app (SyncSolver) that can sync my Fitbit steps to Apple Health and I’m using that for my steps since it seems like the Apple Health integration at least is working. But woof, this is a terrible implementation and I feel bad for the Inspirators who have to rely on this to work with their clients.

Could be so much more
Very minimal and more irritating than helpful to the program. Loses connection to the Fitbit and syncs inconsistently. Displays “No internet” message when in strong internet locations. Sometimes ROUNDS UP on the scale readings. No way to track activity other than the fit bit. And here’s the kicker...I asked why the pdf guide they sent shows screenshots of activity-tracking in the app and was told that was an old version— so it must have done so in the past. There’s no food diary in the app—just the pictures. No nutritional tracking. No calories, no macro-nutrients. No in-app notes for between meetings with your inspector. The Newtopia program itself is pretty good but the app is a huge albatross. AND the iPad version is even worse.

Wait for your inspirator to beef up the app
The app is intentionally minimal. Your inspirator customizes it for YOU. You have to wait until your calls so they can add specific goals into the app. The program is awesome.

Buggy
App works when it wants to and when it works it's good. With that said, when using the app to take pictures of meals it sometimes loads and saves it and other times nothing.

Too many bugs
I am working hard on my health and the app is not helping. It constantly loses connection to Apple health and constantly displays a no internet message even though I am working in a strong WiFi signal. Testing with this update was pretty weak. Hopefully a quick update comes soon.

Terrible App
The app was previously just very slow. The latest update made it not only slow but terribly non-user friendly. Can look at or update prior dates and no idea how to use it anymore. My health, incremental MRA deposits and weight management plan depend on the usage of this app and it’s gone downhill fast.

Keeps losing weight history
This is the worst app. This is the third time my history has been wiped after an update. So annoying. If you’re going to have an app, can you hire some tech people to support it properly.

Very Elementary App. Missing key functions
Very elementary app that inhibits rather then helps the program. Specifically; 1) no way to contact your inspirator. 2) data from body trace scale not collected 3) no calendar for appointments 4) data from exercise other then steps such as swimming, tennis, biking etc not collected.(even it is being collected on your Fitbit) 5) photos of your food do not always get sent.

Doesn’t work well. At all. No app support.
There are no instructions to help troubleshoot the app. I changed the battery in my scale that Newtopia sent to me, and it is not connecting to anything. I can see the readings, but the whole point of the fancy scale was so it would connect to the app. There were instructions when I got the scale, but that was a year ago and I don’t know where they are anymore. Would it kill you to put a FAQ or Troubleshooting page in the app for this kind of thing? My app also constantly says could not connect to the internet...which is bizarre since I am sitting there playing a game that requires an internet connection at the same exact time...so it’s not my phone... The Newtopia program was provided by my employer and I have had two “inspirators” (dropped out for a while when I couldn’t get it together after a department change and my schedule made meetings a challenge, totally on me, not Newtopia!) and I have started back up again. I find their employees to be excellent at helping make suggestions and set my goals as things that meet me where I am right now and are possible. I also find them to be wonderful about being creative and helping suggest ideas that are maybe a bit “off the beaten path” but work better for me and my lifestyle. As an example, breakfast is a challenge for me, the typical suggestions were difficult. I simply don’t have time in the mornings, so we came up with the idea of a baggie of nuts (premeasured, to keep it under control) and a piece of fruit that I can totally eat in the car on the way to work! Now we are adding a mid morning snack of a nut “milk” with chia seeds to make kind of a pudding that I can make and store in the fridge at work! So simple, and it works for me. Instead of setting up complicated lists of things to remember, what works for me is to do a few small changes at a time and then I don’t get so overwhelmed. Just wish the app worked as well as the Newtopia people! I give 5 stars for the people and 1 star for the app.

Amazing program! Terrible app though...
I was hesitant about joining Newtopia because I didn’t feel like I was in a good place to start making changes. If I’m being fully honest, I thought the whole idea seemed cheesy and stupid. I ended up really loving the whole program, and my coach is the absolute best. They’re great, not cheesy at all, and they take the time to get to know you as a person and vibe well with you. Even if you’re on the fence about joining, or you’re just doing it for insurance purposes like I initially was, they’re really cool about it. They take things slow (if that’s what you prefer.) and they seem to be all about helping you make even seemingly tiny changes in your life that are easy for you to stick with because it suits your lifestyle/tastes. Solid example- money is rough for me right now, so I end up eating a lot packaged soups like ramen, etc. My coach taught me a couple tricks to jazz it up a bit- only using half of the flavor packet, and keeping bagged frozen veggies on hand to mix in with the soup. Never would have thought of that myself, but it was so easy and tastes even better! All that being said... this app is REALLY frustrating. It’s clunky, the UX doesn’t feel intuitive, and ohhhhh my god I’ve never seen an app move so slow. It typically takes around a minute just for the app to OPEN, let alone, do anything within the app. The best way I’ve found to navigate the speed performance issue, and various limitations within the app, is to find little work arounds, as well as simply just jotting down notes and discussing them with my coach at the next call. They’re really great and understanding about how the app limitations sometimes get in the way. I would definitely recommend that the devs figure out what’s causing the speed performance issues and work to resolve them. Additionally, including a clear and easy way for users to submit feedback on the app WITHIN the app, whenever they run into an issue would be a pretty good idea! Overall, I hate the app, but I love Newtopia/my coach, so the program is worth it, bugs and all haha

No Way to Really Track Nutrition
Updating 8/14/18 since the update my goals do not come through for days, steps do not synch nor does my scale though I step on daily. I have logged out and back in and uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times but the app does not work. I also constantly get an error “no internet connection “ even though I have a strong WiFi connection and am running on data. I wish the app actually let you track what you are eating and not just snap photos. Photos tell me nothing about calories, carbs, fats, etc which is much more helpful. I also would like to be able to enter notes to my inspirator when I can’t make a call. It would be nice if there were a chat or email type feature so we do not have to miss n entire session. Unfortunately in this busy world sometimes schedules change last minute and calls just don’t work out.
