Super cool & intuitive app
I have a bunch of plants and love creating succulent gardens from clippings and reviving dried up/ half dead plants from the side of the road or a friend who can’t handle the care of them. I’ve been able to take pretty good care of most and have a lovely garden of likely 40+ potted plants… Sometimes my adoptees have issues tho- recently had an aphid or spider mite problem, that started spreading to my other plants! I decided to finally give this app a try to see what the problem may be with a couple as well regarding their watering needs. Now I realize each plant is different in its care and I’m having fun learning what they need so I can make sure to water and feed appropriately. The weekly charge is super high at $7 so $28 per month is more than I spend on my pots, fertilizer and tools! It kinda makes the lifetime option the only one that makes sense. Idk, hopefully as time goes on they will make a longer trial period or a cheaper monthly subscription option. But either way, the app is easy/fun to use and super informative! You can essentially create a whole catalog of your plants and where they are located and get reminded about what they need. It’s pretty brilliant.

Great Plant assistant.
I’m fairly new to plants, and the intricacies of owning caring and growing them. In my plant journey, I have adapted the theory of use all tools necessary to grow your skill or hobby. In this process, I have tried multiple, I would go as far as saying, countless apps, to aid me in becoming a better plan parent. after trying multiple premium apps I can confidently say this one is the best. Upon opening the app the aesthetics are very attractive, upon opening the app for the first time I was very pleased at how easy it is to use. One of my plan babies. I’ve had a difficult time keeping alive, not knowing if it’s being properly watered, getting enough sunlight, or near and in air-conditioning. This app help me immediately identify that my current watering schedule, for my Monstera was not conducive to keeping it healthy, while also informing me of common diseases that affect this particular. The light meter, which was the focal point of me download this app has been a plant saver. I believe this app has already helped me save several plans and will continue to help me be a great plant father. I recommend this app to the Novice and expert plant grower alike, look no further download this app.

Bad plant ID, scheduling, worse customer support
After 3 months of daily use, I’ve deleted this. My experience has not been positive *at all*, much as I wanted to like the app. My collection of plants is about 65ish (and growing!). I’m a moderately experienced plant parent, and was using the app to organize, keep track of care (misting, feeding, etc), and I liked the idea of features like the light meter (overly complicated, download one of the free apps), identifying problem areas (same comment), creating a schedule for daily care. Major problem I first encountered was the app couldn’t correctly identify 95% of the plants in my collection (google is much more accurate than PlantIn!). Customer support asked if I knew the names of the plants (of course I do), and advised me to override their system and input things manually (not a good answer, and a verrry time consuming task). Doing it that way meant that I had to input watering, misting, feeding etc manually, too. And no matter how many times I tried to time watering and feeding together, feeding popped up on a random day. By the way, I submitted a query to customer service and 5 weeks later (after a few automated emails from PlantIn thanking me for my patience) they’ll get a response to me soon. After reading several reviews I made the mistake of spending $50 on the premium membership. I hope others read this review first and try the app for awhile first!

Loving this helpful app
My daughter and I are making a raised garden in my backyard this year. I’ve grown a few things over the years in pots, but now we are venturing out to making a “raised”. Since this is our first time, we aren’t expecting a 100% success rate….50/50 will be just fine with us during this learning curve. We are very excited, but also worried that it is already the end of May and we are just beginning with our vegetable plants. I found this app on Google when I was researching how to grow parsley. So far so good!!! I’m liking this app very much. I’m learning all sorts of new things and techniques for growing a successful garden. As I’ve already stated, we are very excited. My daughter is also putting the app on her phone, so I’m hoping for great success with our very first raised bed garden. I will keep you all informed on how well this app will help us to achieve our goals. We are loving how this app answers all of our questions, and is aiding us with our challenges so far. We will keep you informed!! HAPPY GARDENING, EVERYONE! 🧑‍🌾

Good for just staring off
Now don’t hate on me yet for the poor review, I have high expectations for this app to become more advanced and accurate with the technological aid of these days, it’s highly helpful however, it can be wrong, and throw up many variations of options when scanning the same plant and that can be discouraging, but also as cameras advance in clarity of image and depth resolution and the algorithm can read more data, this app will definitely be a must for any flora enthusiast from first time green thumbs, to even helping and aiding with the most knowledgeable and skilled growers who really put the science into all the plants they cultivate. And I’m just gonna let you know now, I’m canceling my free trial, for the time being, because from my experiences with this app, I was trying to identify the type of trees the previous owners of this property had mass planted, and trying to find the purpose to them, I had it range from an almond tree to several different kinds of willow, but none of the pictures seemed to line up with the tree the several different times we tried to identify it, so I don’t find the app worth my money at the time if it is continually wrong. Please do keep in mind, I have high expectations from you guys, you’re going to achieve a lot, so don’t give up, I have faith!

Really Difficult to Cancel Subscription
I am not one to typically leave reviews, but this has been especially challenging for me and I hope that the company can read this and make some changes or someone else who is passionate about plants and wanting to learn more can proceed with caution. I really support the idea of the app, and think that with some changes to the payment system it could be a helpful idea,However, I have been trying to cancel my subscription for many months and the app would continue to charge me weekly even when under the settings of the app it says I am not subscribed. So, that means there were many months that I was paying for the app and not able to use it. As a student who budgets my time energy and finances extremely meticulously, this was infuriating at times. It felt violating and really shady. I ended up needing to contact Apple to be sure that my subscription was removed. This was gas money, food money, and how I was supposed to meet my basic needs. I do not have nine dollars for times a month to spare for a "donation" I did not sign up for. Very disappointed in this - maybe The company could issue me a refund as I was not able to use the app during the time that I was paying for it. if that happens, I would be happy to make an addendum to this review. Otherwise, I recommend highly against purchasing this app.

Be aware of in-app purchases!
I am told after the fact that in-app purchases are processed separately, and they do not issue refunds for erroneously made purchases!! Unfortunately, I can’t say that I have had much opportunity to make use of the app yet, but so far it seems adequate. I do, however, take issue with the response I received when I asked for a refund of a extraneous billing. I signed up early Jan for the free 3 day trial. Before I was charged anything, I upgraded to a lifetime subscription and was promptly charged. A couple days ago, I received a receipt for two separate charges in addition, which reflected two separate weeks of subscription on top of the lifetime subscription. I immediately sent a message inquiring about the charge to which I received this response: “The lifetime account is a one-time in-app purchase so it won’t be listed in the subscriptions list while the subscription is a recurring payment so they are processed separately. …Please be advised that according to our Subscription Policy, all purchases are non-refundable. Please be advised that agreed to the terms when you paid for the subscription. We are sorry if this brings you any inconvenience and would like for you to consider making use of the situation by trying out our service.” I received a similar response when I attempted to clarify the error. BE AWARE!!

It would be 5 stars if it worked like the ad shows
I do love this app.. but I paid for the premium version and almost immediately got it refunded because it didn’t work how the ad showed. In the ad it showed you could scan the plant and it would tell you if it needs more water or not. After getting the app and looking through it I thought maybe I needed the premium for it to do that. I got the premium and was sad to find that the premium only added the ability to scan the plant to identify any diseases or sickness it may have. But there was no way to scan to see if it’s over watered or under watered like the as showed. I still use the app cause it does help me keep track of when I should water each plant and scan to find what type of plant it is and learn a bit more about it. I am just very disappointed because I was excited and mainly downloaded the app for the ability to scan to see if I’m over watering or under watering my succulents. I hope the app will soon be updated to have this ability like how the ad shows. If that change is made I’ll bring it up to 4 stars! If you don’t have to pay for it since it doesn’t mention that part in the ad then I’ll give 5 stars!

Worst app and customer service
I’m no pro gardener but certainly not a novice either. I downloaded the app because my pothos took a turn for the worse and I couldn’t figure out it’s problem with online research. I took several clear photos of a few of my plants and the app was incorrectly identifying them. It also told me brown crunchy leaves were healthy so I opted to cancel my trial right away. Now, 7 weeks later I realize they’ve been charging me on PayPal each week. I contact customer service and they say I don’t have an account with the email provided. I share screenshots showing my ID in the app as well as PayPal receipts. They were emphatic they see detailed receipts. I shared those from my Apple account after figuring out how to pull them. I tell the rep multiple times that the app won’t allow me to click on the subscription to modify it - it just says active. However , the app will allow me to upgrade to lifetime if I want - how convenient. Ultimately I’m told NO REFUNdS and I consented when I started my trial - even though I canceled the trial and immediately got rid of the trash app. No assistance to help me cancel the subscription nor any refund for the money stolen from me. I ultimately had to go to Apple directly to get this thing canceled and filed a compliant. Terrible app and terrible customer service.

My love
To tell the truth, I started growing plants quite recently. I've always liked it when there is a lot of greenery in the house. It is pleasant and pleasing to the eye. The room immediately looks much more comfortable. But I was scared that I would not be able to cope. I have no acquaintances who could explain how to properly care for them and what to do if they get sick. But I downloaded this app and everything turned out to be surprisingly easy. They drew up a competent plan for caring for my green pets, which saved me from unnecessary worries. Also, I am a very forgetful person, but there is a possibility of reminders. Notifications come regularly and without interruptions, so there is simply no way for me to forget about something. Now my house is full of greenery, and you can say that I live in my dream home. I am very happy, thank you very much for a stress-free life. I hope that I will not have any problems, but if they do, I know who to turn to.

A pure joke
How this app has the stars it does is unknown to me. I have tried off and on over the course of a year to use this app. On average in testing, the app gets the plant correct only 20% of the time. When it does get it right, then the information is helpful (hence 2 stars not 1) but it is consistently not correct. Going further, in many places in social media, such as Instagram, the ads touts how this app can be used to diagnose what may be happening and receive specific information to help. This simply does not exist on this app. There is a “diagnose” section but not helpful in any way. For example, if it decides it’s a “water issue” then that is all it gives you. Beyond that info comes the ChatGPT style info of generalized information about a “water issue” that has absolutely nothing to do with this plant or even if it is under or over watered, let alone really what to do about it. I feel stupid for the money I put into it hoping it would help in being better with my plants. If you are of a similar mindset, STAY AWAY from this app and save the money I already lost into it and will never get back that someone has already made their millions off of.

Updated, do NOT recommend, waste of money
The app is helpful. The watering schedule has improved the health of my plants and the ID feature works well. The sickness diagnosis does not work very well and the notifications only show up about 30% of the time. The notifications were the biggest selling point for me and now it’s hardly worth it. A notification app where the notifications don’t work isn’t worth $50 to me. Update after about a year: notifications never work. I’ve reinstalled, checked settings, there appears to no explanation for why I never get notifications for when to water/fertilize. This morning I tried to identify something growing near the base of my ivy and as usual, the automatic identifier didn’t come up with anything. I started a message to the botanist for help and every time I hit send got an “unknown error.” This happened about 6 times, restarted the app, same error persisted. Eventually, after hitting send, I was directed to the page asking me to pay $20 for help service. Apparently my $50 premium lifetime membership doesn’t include help? This overpriced, broken app keeps asking for more money for what? Additional broken services? Reduced rating to one star.

Greatest plant app ever!!
This has been the best plant app I’ve tried!! It has allowed me to diagnose plant sickness with just the snap of a picture and it gives detailed guidance on how to heal them and how to prevent the sickness from happening in the future. It also provides care plans for each plant up upload so I always know what’s needed for a new plant. It also has some cool features like know the “how much to water” calculator which has been a god send! Over all this is an excellent app! I did take a star off because the price is a bit high and sometimes it’s ability to identify a plant from a picture is pretty far off, but if you know the plant name you can just type it in and pull it up that way. But just know that the “finding a plant name by picture” feature is not always accurate so double check it if you’re questioning because if you get a care plan for the wrong plant type it could result in a dead plant type! Overall very happy with my purchase and would recommend it to others!

Premium subscriber
I purchased the premium subscription with this app because it was a good deal.. or so I thought. Honestly, if I could go back and change my mind, I would. This app is good about telling me when to water my plants, keeping up with notes, pictures and history on the plant. Other than that it could use some work. There are no extras and everything you have to pay for. I am still not really sure what the “premium” subscription got me. Their diagnose your plant option needs ALOT of work. Not once had it ever successfully diagnosed an issue. I bought a new plant about a month and a half ago but it’s not available in their database. Ok, that’s fine. They have an option to request it be added and they’ll do they within a couple of days. Awesome, right? Wrong. I’m still waiting for that to happen. All in all for me being a premium subscriber I definitely don’t think it’s worth it. I’m sure there are other apps out there that offer more bang for your buck. Look into those before spending money on this one.

This is hands down, the absolute most innovative, helpful, user-friendly, intriguing, and just PERFECT app I have ever had the pleasure of downloading on my phone! Every SINGLE thing you could possibky ask for in regards to plant knowledge, care, and research is in the palm of your hands. The results are always accurate and informative, while also keeping you interested to learn more and continue fiddling with the app to see what other cool features PlantIn has invented. I so badly wish the app could have a longer free trial period, or if the cost was a bit more competitive, however, I do understand and can only imagine how much time, effort, love, and care goes into creating such a magnificent tool to aide in a gardener’s success. Whoever created this app — just know that I think about how much I love you every day as I’m with my plant babies!❤️ Signed, A girl from New Jersey who is trying to turn her thumb green!😉🌺

Helpful!
Certainly helpful in identifying plants, it has only been wrong once in the handful of times I’ve used it; other times it gives me multiple options (& in those instances one of them has always been correct)—another instance it wasn’t sure so it had me put in a request for further assistance to identify…we shall see how that pans out. It hasn’t been the most accurate with identifying problems, sometimes it’s just too broad of an answer to be of much use, but I honestly haven’t had to utilize that feature enough yet to have an opinion one way or the other. Overall, I don’t think you can beat being able to take a picture & be met with the plant’s overview/general care info so quickly. So simple yet so profound for someone like myself, & the app just feels like it was (& is) a labor of love created for plant-people, by plant-people. I can only imagine it’ll get more & more precise with identification in time; so far this one is definitely a keeper for me.

Very good
I was recently presented with a small money tree. I really wanted to raise him. I watered it a little and exposed it to the light, but it still didn't grow. I tried to change the exit strategy, but it still didn't grow. I didn't understand what was the matter. It took a long time but it remained the same size as it was when it was presented to me. Then I downloaded this application and asked the experts what was the matter. It turns out that the pot in which this plant was presented to me was too big for this and it spent too much energy on the development of the root system. Because of this, Ratsenia did not have the strength to grow at all. They explained to me how to transplant plants in great detail and I was able to transplant it into a smaller pot. Immediately after that, I noticed how it started to grow. Many thanks! If I have any other problems, I will definitely contact the experts with them.

Run to another App,pure scams
I have had nothing but problems with this app. Nothing works and their customer service is above all the worst ever. I tried to cancel and get out of it and these guys promise you everything and deliver you nothing. Before you know it they’re soaking your account left and right. Caution beware beware beware once they get their hooks into you. It’s very hard to get out of it. Pure scam going on here. They say they have a seven day free trial but once you click on that they already soaked your account. There’s plenty other apps out there that probably offer a good service. All these people want is your money ITS NOT THE MONEY ITS THE SCAM THAT GETS ME THEY SAY 7day free trail then they told me it was a three day when I pointed out I requested they cancel my 7day on day 2 they told me they didn’t have a free trail ! Scam Xxxxxxx So as to their response. I had to go to the App Store and talk with a Apple to get my refund on my three day period so the response to my review is nothing more than a lip service for anyone else who may read it. I stand by my review get away from these guys. They’re ap is crap and all they want is your weekly payment

Best app ever
To be honest, I have never developed plants. I already thought that there was some kind of evil eye on me. Whichever plant I buy, it always withers after three months, even if it was a succulent that hardly needs watering. It seems to me that only a cactus would not be wilted, but I do not really like cacti. So I kept trying and this time I got a ficus. I found out the seller all the details about his departure and did everything right, but the ficus also began to fade. I was already completely desperate, but then I found out about this application. I photographed my plant and the experts helped me solve the problem. It turns out this time it was not about me. Pests have started on the ficus. It's good that they helped me to cure my plant and get rid of them. Now it grows further. I hope everything will be fine with the plant. What a pity that I found out about this app so late. I could have saved all the previous plants as well.

This app is straightforward and simple!
I think that this app is really good for people who need advice, suggestions, and support along the way of planting! This is a small app that isn’t filled with adds and you don’t need to purchase any premium features so you can use the app for what you downloaded it for, it’s a really nice app that allows you to talk to other people about your plant related stuff! I started to get addicted to it, but not too addictive to the point where I’m on it for 5 hours straight! (Which is good) I downloaded this app for free so I can get help with my wisteria tree, and I got all the help I needed from people on this platform! I think this app is great and you should use this app if you need help and there’s not much help from people around you, I always have someone who is planting the same thing also, so I wasn’t ever alone! :)

Buyer beware
First off, I am fully confident I signed up for a 7 day free trial. In the free trial the ONLY thing you can do is identify plants. If you want to be able to diagnose and create and implement a treatment plan, etc etc the fees are ASTRONOMICAL. Thus I cancelled during the subscription period in a couple days. I then received a 9.99$ charge and they told me it was because I only had three day free trial. I started to read all the reviews and—evidently—this is a common business practice by the Developer, VORTEMOL LIMITED, whom does this, not only on this particular app, but on their other apps as well, like COININ (their app that claims to accurately scan coins and will tell you if you have a rare one with value greater than its nominal worth). Seems to be a money-grabbing-type-of-company. DO NOT BUY or even try their free trial because they will figure out a way to charge you. Also, they pay for their aggregate review score to be so high (if you don’t believe me just read all the reviews and it’s so obvious where— either AI or some other type of “bot”— created a non-human type of review. Very sketchy in a multifaceted way

New Here, it’s 50% helpful & 50% lacking
First glance I noticed a lot of plants listed with their background information to give you a good overall idea of the responsibility and expertise needed to keep it thriving. There’s a search bar to find specifics you are looking for as well. Some of the information listed is vague and/or missing, with no helpful tips or information for those that don’t know what half of the stuff on each profile means. I wish there was a filter option or some way to specifically search for non-toxic plants for babies and animals.. but you just have to go one by one and see what it says. I have yet to come across anything that doesn’t say weed, toxic to everyone or toxic to animals, so not sure they even will specify any details I’m needing. I know it says how often to water each plant, but any special water like ph wise? Plant food? How often does it need new mulch/dirt? How big do they get? Indoor or outdoor? How often should you repot? Etc.

It’s good but I’m waiting for it to be great
So I got on this app and I took a picture of one of my plants and I know that it’s not a fruit it’s a flower and App said that it was sick so when I got on how to take care of it it made me pay I think that’s super stupid you probably delete that because I’m going to delete the game I am very mad that you make me pay for stuff because I am only nine and my mom will kill me if I just take her money to pay for a game I’m gonna give you six days to respond and if you don’t respond I’m deleting the game it’s so stupid that you made it do that Other than that I really like the game and today was my first my other than that I really like the game and today was my first day of serendipity at school and I got a plant from it And it said it was A perry Winkel on the tag and I bring it home I took a picture of it and it said it was a periwinkle so other than that one incident I am very happy 😊

Helped me a lot
I had one dream for a very long time. I saw how one girl herself grew an avocado on her windowsill. It looked so cute that I really wanted to try it too. For a long time, my bones did not grow and I did not know what I was doing wrong. In the end, one still took root and I was in the 7th heaven with happiness. I ran around with this avocado sprout, substituted it in the sun, and did everything as they write on the Internet. But after a while, he began to look worse. Its leaves dropped and became covered with yellow spots. I was depressed. Then I downloaded this application and experts helped me find the right care for my plant. And everything worked out! What's more, they told me why my other avocado seeds didn't sprout. I tried to follow their advice and things went much better! Hopefully, soon I will have a whole grove of avocado on my windowsill!

Don’t Do It!
I decided after the initial trial period to cancel my subscription before being charged. The app freezes up when attempting to do so personally, so I sent an email to the support address stating I wanted to cancel immediately. I received email after email with offers of a cheaper plan, questions about why I was choosing to cancel, etc…& no indication of my subscription being cancelled. After several emails, I was told they couldn’t help me cancel it…it had to be done on the app which leads me right back to where I started! If I could cancel the silly thing myself, I would! Bottom line…their customer support group likes to play silly games that leads you in circles when trying to cancel. It should be cut & dry without harassing emails trying to get you to spend money on their app. When I specifically send an email to the support staff asking to cancel my subscription, that’s exactly what should occur & yet, I am STILL trying to get it canceled several days later. DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS APP OR PROVIDE YOUR CC INFORMATION INTO THE APP UNLESS YOU PLAN ON BEING HELD HOSTAGE.

Meh
Ok well I was kinda ok with this app. But now I’m not for it. I have been trying to figure out how to. Cancel it because I thought I was in a 7 day trail. But I can’t figure out how to cancel it. I also sent a ticket in under my feed back and it kinda strange how that tab worked just fine until I asked how to cancel. Now I can’t read the message they sent to me nor I can I send any messages under the my feed back. There is a 2nd tab that I can send message threw call feed back (not sure why they have a feed back and a my feed back tab) I can send comment’s threw the feed back but then they show up in the my feed back as a closed ticket. So yeah looks kinda of sketchy when this happens right after asking how to cancel. So the app is ok, I am kind bummed that I payed for it though since paying for what i thought was a premium membership did not give me full access. The stuff I was interested in, it is asking me to pay more money. The information that the membership is giving me is stuff I already know about my plants because I googled it.

A wonderful surprise
I have more plants that I can count and stopped counting after 25 😂!! When my 15 year old niece told me about your app and how awesome and easy it is to use, I was skeptical. I have used other apps in the past, that after using a few times I never used again, because they are either not user friendly or did not let me store my plant pics on. Well she came over my house tonight and demonstrated how she uses the app on her phone and we started to identify some of my houseplants and had a lot of fun comparing all the new plant facts we learned!! I appreciate that the app is clear and simple to understand and how easy it is to navigate, and you now have a new fan/customer and I will eagerly spread my positive experience with the many nature and plant lovers that I know. thank you ☺️

Useless.
Downloaded this app looking for some help in taking care of the plants my son bought for our home. The app was telling us it was a completely different type of plant (obviously we already knew what it was, it was just bought a few days before) and was offering no insight whatsoever in how to help improve the life of the plants. I cancelled the free trial 10 minutes later & that was that. Unfortunately, I have received about six attempts to extract $8.81 out of my bank account, one of which was about 10-15 minutes ago. I cancelled it TWICE through the app & once through my Apple device settings. After the last attempt to take funds out of my account, I had to re-download the app to go in and cancel it a THIRD time; this time it said I needed to cancel it through the App Store??? This app is useless and the people who designed it are crooks. I know how to cancel subscriptions, I have several and trust me when I say this one is not worth the aggravation or your money, it’s not even worth the lint in your pocket.

All my life I have only grown cacti. All my other plants were withering away. Even if friends went on vacation and asked to look after their plants, I managed to do something wrong. But something changed and I wanted to try to start my plant again. This time I was serious. I know the problem is that I keep forgetting to water so I downloaded this app for reminders. But then I decided to try out the care plan feature and loved it. It turns out that there are much more nuances than I thought, and simple watering is not enough even if you do not forget about it. I am glad that I turned to the experts for help this time and I will do everything right. Plus, I can be sure that thanks to the notifications I will not forget about the regular maintenance of my new plant. Thank you so much!

So it’s a cool idea?
I really like the idea of an AI based plant care/identifier app. However it is not for those with “weird” plants. I own a bunch of exotic plants that your average person probably does not. I have a dwarf cavendish tree (the app said it was a Lilly) they do look similar I’ll give it that. The I tried scanning my variegated monstera plant. The app said it was an apothos. Ok also can understand that with the white mutation on the monstera. So then I tried scanning my different pitcher plants both american and Asian species. It doesn’t recognize there is different types of pitcher plants and just categorizes them as the same. I tried scanning my lime tree and came up as a lemon tree. That is almost accurate they both look very similar and are both citrus. The only plant I own that it was able to successfully identify was my aloe plant…. And I’m pretty sure most 5 year olds can identify that. Overall not very impressed but it could be cool in the future?

Beware—Dishonest representation of subscriptions
I purchased a year premium membership because this app was inaccurately identifying a plant of mine and I needed further help. I inherited a 40 year old plant from a family member, so the pressure is on not to kill it lol. I went through the process and wrote a very detailed description to submit to the ask the botanist feature, only for the app to inform me that I hadn’t paid. I contacted customer service, figuring it was a glitch of some sort. They informed me that a premium membership did not cover all features on the app. This is extremely unclear and quite obviously meant to gouge customers. I explained my situation to customer service, politely requesting a refund—$20 for an app is definitely NOT in my budget if it isn’t going to do what it promises. They returned and offered me a lifetime membership IF I paid an ADDITIONAL $20. After several days of interacting with multiple agents, they refused to refund me. This app could be so great if it wasn’t sneakily stealing money from unsuspecting plant lovers. Such a shame.

Subscription wouldn’t cancel and kept charging me $8 a week
I’ve never given a bad review of any app ever. I’m so mad! I had been really excited about this app, but immediately found it didn’t fulfill what it had described to be able to do. So I immediately canceled. When you cancel a subscription during the trial period, it should NOT keep charging you!!! I canceled my subscription in the trial week (the SAME DAY I first used it) after finding this app did not fulfill its claims. They have still been fraudulently charging me $8 a WEEK for an app that was of NO USE to me and therefore had canceled right after signing up. Ive written them to ask them to look into this and to please refer to their records more carefully and refund these unauthorized charges going all the way back to May. I again tried to cancel again, but have no guarantee they won’t keep charging me. I found out I’m not the only one this happened to. I feel cheated and tricked. I’m considering a lawsuit if this is ignored if even for the principle of the matter.

Sometimes works sometimes doesn’t
Unfortunately the app was only successful in identifying 3 out of 10 or so of my plants correctly. Its super cool, but its been wrong too many times. It did help me identify a plant that i planted by accident and had no idea what it was. But the plants i am absolutely certain about like my grapes, my lavender, beets and many more they said a completely different plant that i have never planted. My seedlings are about 4 inches tall so i dont know if the plants have to be fully grown to get a proper reading. Although it did get a few of my seedlings correct. I also have a pea seedling that is sick and it diagnosed exactly what i had thought, which is very cool but it failed to identify other seedlings that have damaged leaves. I think its a really cool app, but i wont be purchasing it because it only works sometimes. Super cool idea and if it was correct 8 out of 10 times it would still be worth it but it isn’t even 50 percent reliable.

Misleading
The description leads on to believe that by buys the Lifetime “Premium “ plant care that access that all the described feature included as described in the body of all the features offered. Read so many reviews and some of them were really good. But there we also copious reviews about being scammed by this developer in that the features expected we available to them post purchase. That lead me to the decision to just purchase the Lifetime “Premium” plan to avoid such an issue. All the other prices reflected “Premium” dealing with certain areas of services provided. Therefore one would conclude that the purchase of the most expensive would off everything described. WRONG I’m not sure what is actually in clouded in this Lifetime “Premium” option because every time I attempt to use it as intended I’m asked to pay more money for each feature. Apple should insist the developers outline exactly what people are paying for where the actual in app purchases area! I see now why the bad review

Great in theory, meh in practice.
Hi! I enjoy this app but there are some issues. For one I’m not paying for a subscription or trying out the free trial & it won’t let me get a care plan for any plant! Also I don’t like how if I scan a sick plant I need to PAY to figure out what’s wrong and how to fix it. One great thing about PlantIn tho is the feed page where you can post about your plants and get help caring for them. Although there is an issue with that too. So many people post non-plant related content. I understand that it’s okay once in a while but my page is flooded with non-plant related posts. Maybe there should be a way to report a non-plant related post and it will give whoever posted it a reminder/warning that this is a plant app and you should be posting about PLANTS. Not your favorite show on Netflix or your dog, PLANTS. So in conclusion this app is great in theory, meh in practice. -DaughterOfDemeter

They’ll scam you when you cancel
Word to the wise — if you like this app, try to cancel it so you’ll get a massive discount offered to you (I was given a chance to buy LIFETIME subscription for $20 when I initiated the cancel process in-app. They offered every “but wait, there’s more. If you call in the next 10 minutes, you’ll get…” enticement to not cancel. I declined each and deactivated my subscription, which the app confirmed internally. My credit card still got hit a week later, however, as they do not actually cancel your recurring bill unless you manually do it through the App Store or contact Apple. The app itself has a lot of great features for enthusiasts and was useful for a trial run to try to save my dying Lilly plant, but quite frankly they should be ashamed of how predatory their cancellation process is. They must be struggling for $ if the price structure is nabbing people like myself during cancellation for a quick $7 weekly premium yet they’d go as low as $20 for lifetime. Gross and desperate.

Save your money. Google lens is more efficient
I tried to identify several of my plants with this app, only to get the response “try a different angle” or “move closer.” Tried multiple angles and basically crawled inside the plant to take the picture - still couldn’t get proper identification of my plants. I don’t have crazy exotic plants that would be exceptionally difficult to identify, yet this app failed at every attempt to identify a plant by taking a photo. I attempted to send feedback through the app twice. That was ignored. I saw the support email address on one of the reviews here so I forwarded my initial emails to that address. What I received was a canned response from someone who obviously did not read my emails because their answer to my predicament was to use the “take photo” feature. IF my emails had been read, they would have seen that’s how I was attempting to identify the plants in the first place. I had a family situation to deal with so checking emails from a worthless app was not top priority. I received an email from Plantin 4 days after they finally responded to my emails that “since they hadn’t heard from me in awhile, the ticket was going to be closed.” Conclusion: customer service is just as unhelpful as the app. ***If you simply use Google lens, take a photo of your plant and in the text line, write “care and watering” or something similar, you will get much better information than this app provides.***

Read ALL Reviews before Purchase!!!
I suggest that people always read ALL reviews before purchasing anything online!!! Protect yourselves people!!! I can get better results from google for free! I scanned a sick Aloe vera plant and the app identified it as a pineapple plant. I tried several times from different angles and got the same result. However it did correctly identify a healthy Aloe vera. There is absolutely no way I am going to pay for an app that does not allow me to try ALL of the features before purchase. Besides that, this app is way too expensive. I will throw the plant away and get a new one before I pay $7.99 a week!!! After reading Several of the ratings, I don’t see how it can be 4.4 stars. Too many issues with people having to pay extra for features that are NOT included with the subscription. Seriously???? If I’m paying for a subscription to something like this, I better have ALL of the features available to me, especially at this price!!! I think this app is a money scam!!!

Plantin app, helps you with plant iD and plant issues
Pro : The app is well designed, and works fairly well, It has a great ability to I D plants and good on analyzer on issues of plants' and recommendations for knowing the reason your plant is sick , if you are over watering and other plant issues, such as needing more light or less water, Still could be a little bit better in search by scientific name, Grammarly seems to want to correct and change the scientific spelling, a little frustrating, so the app works well when It seems to want to rely more on the searching the image of the plants, to search And than to look it to up, Which is great, but I just like knowing both the common name and being able to use scientific name research as well.

I was recently given an orchid. I have wanted this flower for a very long time. I really liked that. I was told how to care for it and I tried not to water it too often. And everything was in order, but then healthy buds began to fall off. I was very upset because I wanted the flower to bloom. I asked my friends for advice, but no one could help me. Nobody faced the same problem as me. Then I downloaded this application and I was told that it might be that the water I was using was too cold. Water for irrigation should be soft and at room temperature. It is true, I took water directly from the tap and did not monitor its temperature at all. I tried to defend the water and then the buds stopped falling off. I hope when new buds grow, I will not repeat this mistake. Thank you very much. I didn't know that this happens.

Cancelled same day downloaded it!
I had cancelled the subscription the first day I downloaded it because they had so many days of a free trial offer first. I tried it right away and it kept scanning the incorrect plant data. Tried manually and it still gave me the wrong plant. They suggested I put it in more light, so I did. Sorry if I’m not going to take and carry my heavy plants outside because the app isn’t reading the plant correctly. I wasn’t going to mess with it, so I contacted the app company and told them not to charge me, that I don’t want the app. They then offered me just some more suggestions to try. They refuse to credit my account since the payment went through right away, even though I contacted them immediately. If you have the money to spend then this app is for you! But they charge for everything. I had ask a question on why one of my houseplants leaders was turning yellow and they charged me $20. To each their own but I don’t recommend this app at all!

Cool
I have an indoor potted citrus tree (grown from seed) that has a great sentimental value for me but that I have cared for improperly and it has been in very bad shape. I have somewhat improved in my care regiment and it has recovered but growing very tall and spindly, and now it has reached some 180cm in height and bumping in the ceiling of the windowsill. I had so many questions. Should I prune the plant? Or transplant somewhere outside? How much light and warmth is necessary for the cutting at this stage? I keep it at the windowsill but the light is muted and the weather cold. Would adding artificial lights help at this stage? I tried to find answers on the forms but to no avail. Then I downloaded this app and found all the answers I needed there. The experts explained to me in great detail everything that interested me and made a plan for leaving for the future. Many thanks.

Very helpful
I’ve been using the app for a day now and it has some super cool features. It let’s you know when you water and feed and the identification while not perfect it did get 3 out of 4 right. (Still have a few more to try but happy with the results. The one it got wrong is a palm which to be fair is hard to get.) The part that identifies the issue with it seemed to work okay as well. My palm is either under or over watered (will check the roots when I get a chance) and the other plants are all okay and the app passed them as well. Not stoked on the subscription price but it is cheaper then buying a new plant every few months. So overall I would recommend this app to anyone who enjoys a nice house plant.

Buyer beware!!
This app is a very cool idea and I was very excited to try it out, but I did not do a good job at reading the fine print (and there is a lot of it). I intended to just use the app for 3 days and cancel my subscription afterwards, but if you delete it on the the third day they will charge you regardless. This app is also very pricey at $7.50/week! I missed that part, but decided it was okay to use it for one week and then cancel my subscription. I went through the process of cancelling that next day and my membership was still “Active”, I assumed this would change automatically once the one week had passed, but instead I was charged for another week!!! I immediately went to the customer support and asked for a refund, but they never replied. There is also no way to contact a person on the support team, which is deeply disappointing. Overall please stay clear of this app unless you are okay with spending $7.50/week!!

Do not download- poor customer service and shady
The customer service is a joke…. They are not helpful and look to scam you out of your money rather than help provide a quality product at a reasonable rate. I tried cancelling the subscription before the trial period ended (which was unclear on how long that actually was anyway), and never received a confirmation… I tried to verify it was done and apparently it was not and instead selected for a premium subscription. I literally contacted customer service within 24 hours of the mishap and they said “per their terms and conditions” they could not issue a refund of $50…. Seriously? First off, I’d never agree to paying $ 50 for a plant app and second, typically if a mistake is caught within 24 hours REPUTABLE companies would work with the customer to get the refund submitted. Not to mention, I never did a single thing with the app…. No pictures, not identification, nothing- useless! Plantin should be ashamed!

Makes my life Happy!
This app is one I could never let go of I renew it every year. If people only knew the family fun of exploring and seeing what’s growing around them. I’ve even found tobacco plant growing on n my property with no explanation. The treasures I’ve discovered are phenomenal. Every where we go as a family we use this app. I use the app before destroying weeds I am able to make certain what I’m allowing in my yard. I have brought back many things growing wild that would have cost a lot. I feel blessed. 😍I don’t have to worry if I forget what a tree or flower is I planted my app tells me fast. I also have a full care plan for every thing I scan making my plants outdoors and inside thrive.

Watch out for ridiculous pricing!
I downloaded this app today to check it out. I scanned one of my plants that has several yellow leaves. It came back with the correct plant however I tried diagnosing it several times with the yellow leaves and all it tells me is that it is healthy. I’m not sure that’s true. It also said it was poisonous but there was not more information as to who it’s poisonous to. What I liked the least and what I warn about is the pricing. When you first add the app there are three price choices which are exorbitant! Seven dollars a week is the cheapest? Then when I went to delete the app it gave a lot more choices like two dollars a month. Just seems really scammy not to give you all the options upfront. Won’t be downloading or using again. With the yellow leaves I would have expected it to come up with watering issues or like their ad running makes it look like there are solutions right away. Not really the case for me.

Doesn’t recognize ANY plants & WORST customer service EVER!
Don’t waste your time or money. I paid $50 for lifetime access. My husband & I lost our house to the lightning fires of 2020, and my parents did too. We are rebuilding our house and every dollar counts, but I invested in this app to help me revive some of my plants and to be a better grower. This app doesn’t know the familial species of ANY of my plants, doesn’t even categorize them even close to what I know they are. I have tried so many times to reach their customer service but just get an auto generated email with a new case number every time, and no one ever responds. The App Store shouldn’t even sell this. Must be false positive reviews, because I can’t imagine ANYONE liking gifs app. The articles are not helpful, just junk info. Better info available out of the web. I want my $50 back but no one even responds. My last short will be to call my credit card company. I’m so disappointed.

Misleading subscription
I actually have never left a poor review for any app. I was super disappointed. I intended to pay for 1 week of use for $7.99. I went inside the app and clicked to cancel my subscription, only to be charged weekly for 6 more weeks $7.99/week—despite the fact that my cancellation was listed in my app account. I experienced around $50 of charges after I cancelled. I ended up canceling through my Apple account instead. When I contacted the company, they said the cancellation button in the app is only for “internal statistics” and that all purchases are nonrefundable. Convenient way for them to take advantage of those who think they cancelled through the app. If it doesn’t officially cancel the subscription, they need a notification letting the user know they also need to cancel through their Apple account. Taking advantage of subscribers & not honoring every customers’ experience is a deceitful way to create revenue.
