An app that caught me by surprise with addictive great stories 🌷

This book is the most addictive greatest written book that I have listened to in 30 years. The writer I salute you and I am so grateful for having the chance to experience this wonderful story. You have given me the incentive to write one myself I . I always have kept journals and have been very proud to have been given high marks in my English courses. Especially loving mythology, old English literature, Shakespeare and his book Macbeth as well as, The taming of the shrew where the two I read a few times each. ‘World Mythology’ in which is touching distance from me right now. Has the greatest stories of mythology example … like Achilles, Poseidon, cyclops. My adult daughters have always told me that I should write a book I love reading to educate myself about almost everything that calls my attention and I find it’s a subject that helps people for the better! So grateful for coming across this app, that not only keeps my mind busy listening to something entertaining but written so eloquently that i felt as if I am living the story not listening to it. Each account compliments the last! something that I look forward to listening to every day as well as giving me incentive to write myself being that I love to read and write thank you. Yet THANKS IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR HOW I ACTUALLY FEEL!!!!👍🌷❤️💋🌸💐🌻🥀🌼💮🪷🪻

I love the App

My only complaint is that you can only hear a few chapters or episodes & then you have to wait usually 20 hours for them to open. The first time I was really enjoying the book & it said that this would be the last episode. When I downloaded the App, this week it gave me 10 free coins, so I used 9 of them to open more episodes. I’m a single mom of 3 so it’s very difficult to find time to sit & enjoy a book. So when it cut off again, I decided to treat myself to a $4.99 pack; which included some extra free tokens. I began listening again and then it stopped again. It had said open for 9 tokens but I had bought more than that, plus with the free ones, it should have lasted longer. Waiting 20+ hours for more episodes to open after listening to only 5 episodes is just too long. Then I started looking ahead, to see if every day, more would open. I’ll still have to wait or purchase more, as some that I’m listening to now don’t open for months (June, August, September) for episodes to open. That’s just too long; especially most people like to read/listen to a book within a month or two. I get that creators need to make money off of their Apps but if I can find this series at the library on audiobooks, then why would I spend money & not own it for good. Besides, it’s not like it’s a classic novel by Jane Austin, it’s just a guilty pleasure of a fantasy novel. That shouldn’t cost anyone $50-$60, if I’ve calculated each time I’ll be asked to pay to listen to it!

Love it but…kind of like a drug addiction

Ok so I would like to start off by saying I love the app, but I feel that it is quite pricey. Starting out your listing to the stories getting invested. Then you either wait tell the next day or buy coins to continue listening. Now I will say you could just wait but the further yo get along the less free episodes you get. This means more interest you get the less story you get. So you buy some coins, now the episode prices very(1-12 coins) depending on how much you listen. This is where my issue comes in again as each episode is from 6-10 minutes in length (very little story progression. Basically for you to progress in the story you start spending more and more. Now to tie this all together you purchase coins and continue listening not aware that the story will continue play tell you run out of coins each episode (5-10 minutes most episodes are around 8min) continuing to get more experience until you are out of coins. I’m just saying be wary listening for and hour or longer your coins are gone. It will get to a point where you are spending $1 or more per 6-10 min episode. My rating would go up if there was a way to regulate the money/time ratio or reward the ones who want to listen instead of punishing.

Absolutely love it

I work in a very busy job for very long hours six days a week. Listening to the audiobook is great for me because I have really no time for anything else except audio books. The only thing I wish is that I could just buy the whole book and listen to it. Honestly, it’s a little annoying to have to keep buying credits multiple times a day to keep listening. I would suggest that you follow audibles footsteps and make a whole book worth a certain number of credits or just put an actual price on it. I understand that some of them are really huge books so it’s OK to charge that extra amount of money. You have a really good product and I know people will pay. It would be different if I got to listen for an hour and then maybe have to wait a day or a week for the next hour. Unfortunately, it’s not like that. I have to pay credits every few minutes. It gives you the feel that it’s not worth it. Once again, I am totally loving it. It’s just the feeling that I am paying a ton of money for itty-bitty fragments. I’m sure you’ll find a solution. One of the other apps is selling day, and week passes for unlimited watching and listen. Just another thought. ☺️

Not bad but needs improvement

Developers have made it so that when you are using coins, the story continues without letting you authorize it so it will continue spending your coins unknowingly to yourself. Developers have also gotten rid of the X, which would allow you to stop something from playing. You’re only allowed to pause it not having an )x button does not allow you to close it out/stop it. Seems like they’re doing more and more little things like this, where you cannot have control of when to end the story, or stop a story from playing that you don’t want to hear, or spend coins on. (I feel it is sneaky and underhanded schemes.) Coins are spermatic sometimes people get free coins when a story ends and sometimes they don’t- there’s seems to be no stability with coins being given. They’re also is no easy way to cancel a subscription! 🤬I believe this is done on purpose. A lot of underhanded things going on with the app, which is quite sad because some of the stories are enjoyable. There is a lot more I could say, but as you’re going down this journey of listening to stories on your own, you will come across them yourself. The ones I have mentioned are the ones that have upset me the most. I don’t have a problem with spending coins, but I have a problem with the app make it difficult for me to choose when I want to use my coins.

Okay so this app is okay. The stories seem interesting and I love listening to these when I do dishes, but I have a question. So I clicked on a vip story and I thought I had to pay like coins because I read some reviews, but it didn’t charge me anything. Im a bit uncomfortable because I don’t want it to charge me after the whole story finishes. So please let me know if I pay or not. Okay now I have a problem. So I read review of someone who had the same problem. I clicked on the app one day and all the stories including the free stories on my for you page were gone. Nothing showed there and now I read the vip stories. I still have a free story i’m reading though, but I need that to be fixed. I tried deleting the app but that didn’t work and now I’m upset. I kept the app and still listen to stories but it would be amazing to get that fixed. Im not logged in so maybe that’s the prob but I don’t really want to log in. If that’s the case, let me know please. Thank you for listening and hearing me out. Edit: I found out that I need to pay with coins to listen to the whole story. I can also listen to vip stories. Edit: I don’t think I wrote this but I actually really like this app and all my problems are solved, I have no problems in this app so yeah. Thank you for responding to me!

Great App

So this is a great app with a lot of stories on it. I’m confident that everyone will find something that interests them up here. I do love that all of the stories I have listened to so far gives you a good amount of chapters for free so you can get a sense of if this story is really for you. Fair warning there are some stories that get really long (1000+ ch) and if you’re like me and can’t wait to find out what happens next, you can pay to unlock the next chapter but that can get a little pricey. Most stories will let you unlock a certain amount of chapters daily for free, I suspect using ads to offset the cost. I will admit the timing of the ads can be a bit annoying, often triggering mid-sentence in a story. There is a VIP coin package that disables ads for a certain period of time. I like listening to the stories while driving so If that interruption bothers you I would recommend getting the package if it’s in your budget. But overall very good app and the only criticism I have is I would like to see more customization options for arranging favorite stories in my collection/library. Thanks and keep up the good work.

I’ve been trying to get in contact with customer service for the last week now

There are many discrepancies with my purchases of coins. Not only is the coin price too much but they had a $.79 option for 10 coins and they took that away. Also, there was one for 120 coins and they took that option away. I don’t know if it’s just from me or from the whole app but I think it’s crazy. Also. I will see episodes, say nine coins and then the next day or a few hours later it says seven coins. Once all my coins are gone. I like Pocket FM I like insta empire. However, I don’t like the cost of coins I don’t like the limited amount of free episodes. I don’t like the fact that I’ve listen to about four or five stories so far about 10 episodes each and they all sound the same. You guys really gotta do better. I have been charged twice for one package. And there’s no way to contact Customer Service to get my refund. I’m frustrated. And I’ve decided that once I’m finished with Insta Empire, I will no longer be purchasing anything from Pocket FM. If someone could reach out to me to resolve this issue that be great. I just want my coins I paid for the $10 pack. And I didn’t get my coins. If I could read this zero stars at this point I would. But Apple makes you put at least one star so that’s what you’re getting for now.. If the app improves with customer service and correct billing to coin ratio, then I will make another review on how I feel bad.

I’m confused

So I was just testing out a theory and I appreciate that it was thought of by someone but I’m also disappointed because I have dropped quite a bit of money into this app mainly because I am enjoying the book that I’m listening to but I don’t understand why I have to wait basically a week and a half to listen to episodes that are only 5-10 minutes I wish that the episodes were at least a bit longer like 20-30 or even 15 I understand dragging them out but sometimes it’s ok to shorten the big books or series of books in order to keep the listener wanting more giving a taste is ok but when my credits charged changes without me knowing like going from one to five too seven too ten and so on it’s basically cheating me out of my money and episodes I do enjoy the free ones but I just encountered a two free and a free one for watching 7 adds and I watched the adds got my free episode but not the other two now I have to wait 22 hours for the next two free and I’m broke again I don’t want to delete the app but the amount of money I have spent I should have been able to listen to 3-4 books by now I literally stay up late just to listen and with 2000 plus pages or episodes it will take at least 4 months for one even with buying credits.

Ridiculous marketing scheme. Few good books with even fewer good voices.

I got this app starting a new, mind-numbing job. Loved it in the beginning even though I had to sift through dozens of books just to find a couple I liked. Seems like most stories are the same or have similar plots. Like reincarnation or alternate reality. Crappy life to stupidly amazing life. Episodes are free but once you listen for a few days, they only release like 10mins per story per day listened. So instead of an hour or more of immersion, you only get a small bite and are left hungry for more. This would be fine, if the books were affordable. You have to buy coins which don’t seem expensive. When you look at the cost per short episode, you’re paying over $100 for 1 dang book. Clever but greedy marketing scheme. I’m done after dealing with mediocre stories with mediocre readers for a year. I haven’t spent one cent and would never spend that much money on a book. I’d pay $15-$30 for a gooood book. Absolutely ridiculous. When finish listening to your story, you’d think it would play the next story in your library right? Wrong. They only play books you’ve never heard of and starting new stories when I already have multiple is another greedy marketing ploy. Never using this app again. Highly recommend you don’t either.

Update: 2 Stars…Minor issues 3.75 would be a 5

Update: So I emailed their support team about the coin issue and they responded saying send me screenshots of the app saying you received so many coins but only gave me one instead. So I sent multiple screenshots showing this, after that I haven’t heard anything else from them saying they will be giving me the coins that the app said it gave me but didn’t. I even emailed again asking about it still nothing. Why should I pay for episodes when they can’t even keep there words an give me my coins? Overall the app is great an I enjoy it. I’ll buy coins to listen more sometimes. However there are a few things that I’m having problems with, when I’m watching the adds to get free coins after watching it says you have received 2-10 coins respectively but every time I only receive one no matter what it says. Another issue is the free episodes I haven’t received any in two days. I’ll watch the timer like last night before I went to bed it said six hour remaining, but after I woke up it says 21 hours remaining. Like I said I did purchase coins so I can keep listening but I would prefer to also have the free episodes and coins so I’m not spending more money than I need to. After this is fixed this is a five star app and I’ll gladly update it to that.

Good App…BUT!

This is a good app. I like the stories I’m currently listening to, BUT… when you have stories with over 1000 episodes, unlocking more than 5 episodes would help. I also don’t like that it doesn’t ask if you want to use your coins. I purchased 40 coins, which included 50 coins free. I didn’t buy coins to use immediately. I wanted to save my coins for when I get to the end of the free episodes and don’t want to wait until the next day for the next ones to be unlocked. I just purchased my coins. Today, I was about to use coins to unlock the next episode. My coins were all gone! I wasn’t even notified that my coins were being used. When you give the announcement that the next free episode will be the last, it should automatically stop. Coins shouldn’t be used unless we actually choose to use them ourselves. I also hate that after you finish the last free episode, it automatically starts a new book. That should be our choice as well. I wish there was a setting to turn off automatic coin use and automatic start of new books. Until using coins we spend our own money to purchase can only be used by our choice, I will not buy anymore coins.

It’s a start..

This app is fair right now, but it has the potential to be a very good app. I have been an audiophile for many years. My Audible library is in the thousands, but I get bored and this is SO DIFFERENT IN A GOOD WAY than an audiobook when you are looking for a little different. Pros include a story with some characters that can be seen so you can keep that in your head when not listening. Con of that is I now know they change the characters! That’s bad and will never get 5 stars if that doesn’t stop. (I know you can get them to sign a contract for a whole book!) Pro is many many titles for free and if you wait a couple days between listens than it’s all free! DON’T SPEND COIN MONEY! It is not reliable or refundable and it gets you literally nothing. The best plan is a back up free app like “TuneIn free version” to listen to on off days will keep you entertained while you wait for your next episodes to drop. Another 2 cons are the length of these books and plot repetition. Both can be cleaned easily and there is so much material that even with the plot repetition you can decrease the number of episodes so someday someone might actually finish a book! A good long book is a good thing but not when the content is repetition and ridiculous. I think it has potential for more success.

Dyslexia

I ran across this app on Facebook. I listen to the episode there and became interested in it. This particular book call, saving Nora. I was so engaged that I decided to give the app a try. So I found it finally saving Nora. I have a listen to up to 12 episodes and I’m hooked. I can’t wait till the next day to listen to a few more episodes now I am dyslexic. I found this out in college. I have always been hesitant of reading books to the very end. So now that I can listen to audio on audible app, and Ashley, see a picture that details the storyline it’s just a cool thing to be able to do. I’m also a two time author in to anthology books. So now I am beginning to write my own book and with that being said, I definitely want to be able to offer audible to my followers and purchasers in the near future. Thank you so much for this introduction and I can’t wait to get to the end of saving Nora to find out if everything will be happily ever after. And then move on to my next selection. I give this a total of 12+ stars if I could.

Should call this app pocket ads

I will start by saying that 3 out of the 5 stories I am following are pretty good. 2 of them I lost interest in the story after a while. My major gripe is with how many ads you have to watch just to listen to an episode or 2. I can’t count how many time theres are no free episodes and I would need to watch ads just to listen to 2 episodes. Sure the story starts out good and you get to listen to many episodes for free, but once the ads start, they are never ending. Furthermore who came up with the math that I need to watch 7-8 minutes worth of ads just to listen to one 12 minute episode of the story. By the time I get out of all the ads I will have spent equal the time to listening to an episode. Another major downfall is the amount of times I need to just exit out of an ad just to get onto the next thing! Why do I have to exit out of an ad 3-4 times just to able to get to the next ad! This app has to have the worst ads make up/ structure in all the App Store and internet combined. There are even ads I am not able to exit out of and get no credit for. I really wish the amount of ads used wasn’t so outrageous. Guess I may never finish the stories at this rate. This app and its ads are overly frustrating at times!

Love it but….

I am totally hook with this app! Love the stories that are played!! Love listening to the stories/episodes.. Saving Nora, Trading up, the Return and Crowns Obsession are my favorite stories to listen to plus several more stories. I’ve had a hard time reading books but these audio series are perfect for me, giving me the chance to envision what going on! The disappointing part of this app is now that I’m so engaged with these stories they start only releasing one episode a day vs the 8-10 a day!! I’m almost wanting to stop listening to the stories all together! I don’t like the fact I can’t stop the stories that I don’t want to listen!! I’d prefer to let the auto play continue the stories that are in my library not just random stories that I’m not interested in. I just wish that I could listen to the stories that I selected. This one free episode a day is really frustrating. Please do something about the auto play and only releasing one to two episodes per day! By this rate it will be two years of listening to one story! Absurd that it takes this long to listen to a story! Please please help fix this! I don’t want to lose my interest in listening to this app! This is why I have 3 stars and not 5 stars!

I’m glad I came across this app!

I honestly don’t know how I ended up with this app. If an app has NOTHING to do with my school or my children’s school I automatically delete it. Including social medias. Once having the app, I ended up listening to part of the first episode and I immediately got HOOKED. I listen to the story in my car, especially when I’m stuck in traffic, I listen to it when I’m cleaning, I even stopped watching tv because I love the story I’m reading/listening to. My only problem is, and that’s why I have it 4 stars instead of 5, in the beginning it gave me 6 free episodes daily. Since I study a lot 6 episodes was more than enough per day. Now all of a sudden it doesn’t give me any free episodes. Some times it’ll only give me one UNTIL 1:00am. Which makes no sense? After I bought coins my episodes went from costing 8-10 coins to costing 12-14 each episode and no free episodes. I’m a student and a mother, and I refuse to spend anymore money on this. If this issue can’t be fixed and I can’t have my 6 free episodes daily, as much as I love my story, I will delete this app. I can find something else to love on my free time.

Too many ads

With this new update I am getting ads randomly that pop up before a chapter plays that is unlocked with coins. I thought the point of using coins would be to unlock chapters and not unlocking ads. I would randomly have ads with audio that pop up in the middle of a chapter drowning out the story I used coins to listen to. Also some of the ads hide the button to close it above the usable space on the screen making it tricky to close out. There also needs to be a way to remove stories that have auto played that you don't want to follow. I don't want to be listening to one story and then at the end of the chapter, it jump to another story I am not even interested in. After this update, ads still play randomly in the middle of a chapter and some of them are obscurely loud cutting out the ability to hear the story, and your ability to hear if you are wearing headphones. I would understand if ads play in between chapters but not in the middle as the story is playing. Also after the ad for the pop up play and you get back to the story, the playback controls disappear. You need to exit out of the story and back in to it to be able to play.

Great stories but a buggy app

First, I have to say that there are some incredible writers who support this app, and I have really enjoyed there work, however the app leaves a lot to be desired and so I am writing this with the hope that thee developer will address these issues which detract from te enjoyment of their content. In short, there are two issues which really frustrate me. The first and arguably the biggest is the auto-advance function which either restarts your existing stories at the beginning making you lose your place (you can find it again fairly easily but it is a hassle), or launches random stories you have”t selected. I understand the value an auto-advance feature could bring if it advanced to the next chapter of the stories in my library, but this doesn’t do that and there isn’t an option to disable it so I find myself racing to press pause in time to stop it. The second issue is that the app randomly jumps to a different story randomly even when my phone islocked. It’s really frustrating to lock my phone and put it away only to have to pull it back out and respect my story because the app decided to go to a different story.

Great app, customer service unavailable, unrealistically expensive,and inaccurate data.

I’ve been using this app for almost 2 months but I mainly listened to one story because of the cost you have to pay every day for 2 or 3 episodes coming out and it’s unaffordable if you’re starting to read a story that already has hundreds of episodes, can you imagine paying more than 150$ for a book that’s not even finished? Well that’s what this is and if want to know more you’ll have to spent how much more God knows… It’s unfortunate that there is such a great app with a lot of potential but for the greediness it’s made so expensive because they know when you get hooked you will have no other choice than to spend more money. There’s not even the possibly to pay a one time fee for a story a plans to make it affordable somehow. But to top off all that if you get logged you lose the coins you bought to purchase the episodes. That’s what happened to me. And I reached out to get my coins back but the customers service has not replied. I tried to call but the customer service is switched off. Overall this is a grate app but it’s made to exploit people by offering some good stories. I was told to send an email after this to get my coins back and I did that 5 days ago but no reply so far.

Great

The stories are great. A lot of them (5 so far) though are very similar in storyline some differences is the author and character names. Another issue is they are not consistent. One chapter says the kids age is 4 the next chapter says 3 and then you get another on that says the kid is 5. It says the story takes place 4 years ago and the child is 3 then it says the story took place 6 years ago and the child is 5. All of the stories I’ve read so far have the same inconsistencies. Because the stories are good I was able to overlook them because it’s not really a big deal. I just think it should be looked into and proof read before posting it. I also wish there was an option to read the stories not just listen to them because there has been major issues with the stories skipping every 5 or 10 seconds which is really annoying. Also a lot of the stories have 600+ episodes and just seems like it’s just dragging on to make people pay more. Some of the stories shouldn’t go on forever and just gets boring after awhile. This is all just something to look into and think about.

Love But

I love this app a lot of different stories to listen to, but some of the stories I feel like drag on for no reason I feel like in some of these stories it could have ended sooner the other issue I have is it’s only one or two per day it wasn’t like that in the beginning, you would get at least 10 stories to listen to, but now it’s one or two and the other issue is now for some odd reason. I have to wait until 1 o’clock in the morning to listen to my free story it used to be midnight. I don’t know why it’s changed to 1 AM. That’s weird and I feel like in some of these stories. The characters that they have are I have no words do better. Some of these stories can be shorter. I feel like you’re dragging on a story and people lose interest, there’s a lot of other things, but those are my main issues. Other than that the app is great just certain things need to be changed and another thing if you guys have their energy to do seven episodes with video it would be nice if y’all did it with all

Rip off

I have been going back and forth with these people about being overcharged and then not getting the coin package I purchased. They asked me for a video of the purchase. Who records themselves making a purchase? I took that as a loss. Then when I did not receive the coin pack that I purchased, I screenshot the purchase and the page that showed that I did not receive the purchase. The time was clearly on both screenshots so there was no way I could use that many coins within a minute. They then asked me for a screenshot of the purchase. Conveniently, my purchase history says that I have never made a purchase. My banking info says otherwise. I have taken that as a loss as well. I went to another platform for my audiobook needs. It is actually better and does not spoon feed you small episodes. If you are wise do not purchase anything because you will either be overcharged or won’t even get what you purchased. This is ridiculous and it is sketchy to say the least. I’m sure it is also illegal for them to take money and not provide the services or products that were clearly paid for, but the legalities or lack there of is a story for another day. I’m pretty sure I am not the only one this has happened to. I’m just waiting to see how it ends.

Buggy and Overpriced

The app is simple but still manages to be buggy. The price of listening apparently keeps ratcheting up the further you get into a book. Prices seem to fluctuate a lot but it seems that around US$1 every ten minutes (about 5x what I usually pay in other apps) is the average. Some of the books have interesting storylines but could really use a good editor. A few minutes of free listening a day seem to be allowed but quickly get narrowed down to around 15 minutes a day. Unlocking free chapters by watching ads can be as disadvantageous as helpful as it resets the timer on upcoming free chapters. You’ll get to listen to one chapter now but a couple chapters that were nearly available will suddenly be back to a 24 hour wait. The app insists on trying to move the listener to a new story each time they run out of available free chapters or credits and there is no way to tell it not to do so. Plays annoying AI generated images while listening but lacks basic features of audiobook apps. If you aren’t dead set on listening to a specific book that is exclusive to Pocket then you are better off looking elsewhere. It’s just frustrating to be limited to a few minutes a day.

Don’t get hooked until you read

I have been listening to a story for a few weeks now and it’s pretty good. The readers are fairly easy to listen as they read the stories. The hate part is you get about and hour a day to listen for free then if you would like to continue listening to that story you half to buy coins or wait till the next day. The problem with that is it takes like 10 coins for about another 15 minutes. The story I’m listening to has about a thousand clips to get thru it so you can imagine how expensive it could get. FYI it’s roughly 10 coins for a 1$ the best I can tell. I’ll eventually finish this one then probably won’t get into another one due to how long it taken to get as far as I have. Oh and there’s several times that it repeats the last 1 minute of the last section in the next so you are not getting very far into each section. Sorry admins I have several issues with the app hopefully you all will quit being greedy and let people hear unlimited time for a small monthly payment like 5$ with commercials and 10-15 without commercials. Otherwise I’ll be done after this story.

The stories are great but the app needs to not give so much trouble my app been slowing down for a few weeks and then finally it just won’t open for the past 3days it was just torture then I had to delete the app and reinstall it but then I lost all of my progress on each of my books and now I’ve to start all over again and the library needs to keep the books in order better and not have me go on a hunt for my previous books I love to get my episodes in bulk so I can just indulge in the story so please do better because I’ve been telling all of my friends about this app and they have been telling their friends and family about it also so don’t make me look bad please and thanks and I don’t need the app eating up space just want to enjoy that’s all so fix the issues and I will definitely come back and give the 5th star once I am satisfied and I don’t hear complaints from any of my friends because it’s so much more fun talking about the book than the problem the app is giving so thanks again for such an amazing app and story lines 🥰

Dissatisfied, but Satisfied!!!

OK I do like the fact that this app is free and it’s up to you to purchase coins to continue the stories you are listening to. My problem is, I purchased a couple of chapters from a story and now since I’ve been waiting for the “FREE” updates, it is no longer updating the storylines episodes. It stopped at episodes 300, and there are 373 episodes. I guess it wants me to purchase the last 73 episodes of the story which to me seems very odd and it has been like this for the past three weeks any news episodes opening up. Needless to say it is a great story that I am listening to, but if this is how book is where you have to purchase the final episodes to finish the story, then just make it where you need to purchase the whole book or a subscription or maybe I just need to look for a better app and I really did like this one even though you have no control over the next story that plays it just plays automatically.

Dying woman couldn’t get help

I am a hospice nurse taking care of a 90 year old woman that is on hospice and has 2 to 6 months to live. She has been listening to saving Nora for several months. She was spending three hours a day listening to ads just to get coins for her enjoyment to listen. She is bedridden and this is her only entertainment. So I started watching the ads for her so she could just listen to them in the evening evenings, it makes her relaxed. It was taking so much time watching 17 ads to get two episodes that are only eight minutes long. So I contacted Customer Service and asked them if there’s anything you can do. Maybe give her a few episodes or some coins that she could buy the episodes. She only has a few months to live and this is the only thing that she wanted to do because she really enjoyed this book. Shame on them for not helping a dying woman. They will do absolutely nothing. They just told her to keep watching the ads. So I continue to watch these ads for her, which are so stupid, we’re not gonna download anything or buy anything all we want are a couple episodes. They really should be ashamed of themselves and I guarantee you I will not recommend this to anybody. And I will make sure that all social media knows this.

Why?

I give you a three stars because I do enjoy a few stories however what I do not enjoy is the way the you get they give 5episodes to read everyday but then whenever you want you will serve one episode per day like really its like if you need to add more episodes just add them why are you doing us like this. Maybe you still writing but why nit just complete the stories before uploading them. Just asking you to please stop giving one episode a day. Everyone’s not but for the ones that do. Please stop. The way that yall get money is a total ripoff… instead of just writing another book you just keep adding this one… just make it a series and be a new book, many people will still purchase entire book.. ive paid sooo much money or a book and still reading it… wow apparently we all have the same complaints… i will say after a while this will be obsolete because ppl will get tired and delete the app.. one story a day and I’ve already spent 100’s and still not done almost a year to read one book and still paying toooooooo much to for them… i think after I finish this story probably 6mons from now im deleting this app

Love the stories….not so happy with the app.

I started listening to a story on this app and got hooked. At first it would allow me to listen to 4-5 free episodes, which I wasn’t thrilled about because I wanted to hear more and didn’t want to keep purchasing coins. But I accepted it and would look forward to my daily dose. The episodes were short (12-14 minutes each) so getting through them didn’t take long. At one point I tried holding off on listening to it for a few days, thinking I would have several to listen to when I returned. Unfortunately, the app didn’t credit me those. I would have to access the app daily and listen before it would open the following free episodes. Ugh…that’s annoying. Then, the episodes became shorter and there were less of them. Of course, they were just pressing me to buy coins. Now….I only get one free episode a day and it’s still short. You can earn additional free episodes if you’re willing to listen to ads. However, 4-10 ads for 2-3 episodes….ugh, okay. But when it’s 22 ads for 2-3 short episodes….no. That’s really annoying. Although I enjoy listening to the story…. I’m pretty close to just shutting it down.

I love the stories but …

My sister and I listen to this app and I love the stories. So here is my problem with the app. It doesn’t let me buy the chapter ahead of the unlock ones. So my sister have her app on her phone and I have mine on mine. We don’t live together but when we go on road-trips we listen to the app (usually on her phone). When I get home and I want to start where I left off at it doesn’t let me buy where I left off. I have to buy the whole chapter that I haven't bought yet, to be able to continue listening where I left off. Which i don’t need. I feel like it’s just trying to make me buy more coins. Why can’t we buy chapters ahead. I don’t know if you understand me or not. I feel so frustrated. Let’s say I unlocked chapters up to 100 and then listen with my sister on her phone up to 150. Now, I want to continue listening on my own but I can’t since the app won’t let me buy 151 unless I buy the 50 chapters I haven’t unlock yet. Like what’s up with that? Please fix this so we don’t have to use up coming on chapters we don’t need. Please 🙏

Frustrating

Listening to stories on this app is frustrating. It’s like watching Tela Novela. Highly unbelievable stories and less than stellar writing, all wrapped up in background noises and cheesy sounds. Frankly, I actually listen because I find it humorous. The frustration comes when you get cut down to one or two 6 min episodes a day. I don’t want to pay $40 or more to get the entire story so occasionally I play some adds. This is how it went recently : The banner says watch 1 add to unlock 4 episodes. Sure. I’ll do that. But that 1 turned into 10- turned into 18 (over the course of the week) When I finished the adds, it only gave me two episodes and one was the last one I had already completed. So, I ended up spending way too much time running stupid adds to get 1 episode. The farther in you get into a story the worse they treat you. I recommend, if you are going to torture yourself with these stories, find 3 or 4 you want to try out. Play only one each day you listen. That way you have several chapters for free each time you listen. I try to limit it to 4 days each week. That way I have 6 to 10 episodes of a story when I do listen.

Good stories to enjoy, worst app to have them on.

Five stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ So I am hooked to about 3 to 4 very good stories which is not the problem with this app. Never have I ever have been lied to by a developer from an app. I paid for coin packages and twice I have been offered the “no ads for a month” and still have ads. Not talking about watching ads to get coins but ads that just appeared out of nowhere. for that I wouldn’t tell anybody about this app. But the stories I will. To Three Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Pocket FM is greedy for money now I invested in one particular show and it’s not worth spending over $100 bucks to listen to 8 to 12 minutes sublets of the show with over 1400 episodes. These is no way to pay for the series and to wait for only 2 episodes a day and if you try to wait it out for a week it only gives you five episodes so yes I understand you want your guys to get paid for their work, but paying over $100 for a series and it’s not even completed yet is to much. Be fair in your dealings please 🙏🏽 I would love to continue with this platform but other are coming a long

Doesn’t give free episodes daily

Update: I deleted this app. It is not giving the daily free episodes. The story I was listening too is just ridiculous. As the reader, you know what’s going on with the characters, but after almost 500 episodes, they haven’t figured anything out and they keep doing the same chaotic things over and over again. I’ve been cheated out of my free episodes on multiple occasions. This morning I had not new episodes. They still say free tomorrow. Some days I listen to other stories and allow a few episodes to build up so I can listen to more of the story. That doesn’t happen anymore. If I don’t listen to the 2 episodes, I don’t get the 2 new ones each day. This is a huge disappointment and I’m considering deleting because I’m not getting the free episodes. I also don’t like how it now says the next episode will be your last for today. I just want to listen to the story. My biggest complaints are that it charges me for coins even when I click use your wallet money. This has happened twice. I used to get 9-10 episodes free per day, now it’s down to only 2.

Could be better

This is a great audio book app. This app was a bit misleading at first. When you open a story a small portion is video. I was so confused because I thought that this was a broken up move. I later realized only a small portion of it is a movie. After the small video entry (that hooks you into the story) it becomes an audio book. I’m currently listening to “Rekindled Heartache”. I saw a video ad and was hooked. Began the story and listened to it for what seemed like hours. Unfortunately only 4-5 episodes are fee a day after the initial introduction of the story. That does not seem so bad BUT theirs 421 episodes at around 10 minutes each. To listen to this for free, it would take 4 months! To buy coins to listen to an episode is extremely expensive. This app does not offer to watch adds to get coins. Only option is to pay. I would have liked an option to earn coins rather than only being able to buy them. I love the story so far and the narrator is amazing. I’m going to continue to listen to this till the end.

Love the App! Struggling with glitches

I’ve been using this app for nearly a month now. I absolutely love it and love the stories. I am constantly having app issues though. When the stories automatically switch to a different story once the free episodes are done, it sometimes switches to a story I’m already listening to and will start the whole thing over and I’ll have to scroll forever to get back to where I was which is frustrating but not impossible. Latest problem is now every story has been added to my library and won’t delete out. I try to delete and it just re-adds it within seconds. Is anyone else having this problem? There’s like 25 stories now in my library and i have to search to find the one I’m listening to. I tried to find troubleshooting on the app and on the site and nothing has worked so far :( Other thank these two aggravations, everything else on the app works fantastic, stories are wonderful, readers are clear to understand, and the rest of the app is easy to navigate:)

I miss the stories

I have listen for a good while now and have spent quite a bit of money (which I don’t mind paying for good things) my problem is every since the update I no longer get free episodes. Usually you get a couple everyday or every couple days but I have some that I should have been able to open back in June 27th but it’s saying pay 1 coin to listen or listen for free on June 27th. But it’s not opening. I wish there was a place on the app to get a hold of someone to help with issues like this but I can’t find it if there is. Please please fix this. I don’t mind paying for extra episodes when I have time to listen for a long time or when it’s getting really good but I think the daily free ones should open for free. Also why if you pay to listen way in advance do you have to wait a month or two to get another free episode? I’m being punished for buying it feels like. Again I love this app but these bugs need to be fixed please

Scam

Only reason this app is even getting 2 stars is because the stories are actually really good. Everything else about this app is a scam. One story costs over $100? It started out they gave me 10 free episodes a day, now I’m only getting 1? 1 4-7 min episode. Then you have to buy. The cost of coins compared to what you get is ridiculous. They have ads that only scam companies use to sell your information, so you can a coin or a few. I really liked this app but it’s starting to become clear what kind of company this is. I want to make it clear I understand artists and the company need and should make money and support them and their families, but this amount is just a crime. Tell me how many books or audio books you know cost over 1 -3 hundred dollars? None worth your time. That’s how many. Charge a price that’s respectable or make the coins affordable and reasonable. And don’t scam People into enjoying the app by giving them so many free episodes and then when it’s a quarter of the way through start minimizing how many free episodes all the way down to 1 episode a day. It’s smart but it’s a scammy way of doing things.

Decent but be careful

I think the app overall is decent and worth having however a couple things users should be aware of. Most stories, although they have different characters are essentially the same story line leaving you feeling like you already knows what’s going to happen. In addition, if you purchase coins it will no longer tell you when it’s your last free episode for the day. The time between episodes is short and the next one que’s up, plays and charges you before you can even hit pause. I’m pretty sure this is by design and a quick way to take your money. I purchased $50 in coins thinking it would last me a while since I only listen to the free episodes and occasionally want to go a little further when I have a heavy workload. Not the case…$50 wasn’t even enough to finish the book. I could’ve purchased 3-4 books for that price so I won’t be investing anymore money into this with the setup they have and will probably search for an app that allows me to use my “coins” at my discretion instead of depleting them on the down low.

Purchase the entire series

So I’ve only began listening to one series so far, and i absolutely love it. In the beginning I was getting multiple free episodes daily, and at time I would even purchase more episodes. However, as of lately I have been getting fewer free episodes. Not to mention the cost of new episodes vary which I don’t understand. It would be nice if we could purchase the entire series at a reasonable amount, and if the price per episode was the same for each book. In addition if we had more control of how our coins are spent instead of it automatically moving to the next episode and spending our coins that would be great. It’s really frustrating waiting such a long period of time for free episodes. If we had more control and f our coin usage, or we could purchase the entire series then it would be a win for all of us. You the developers would still gain a profit, and we the customers would have the satisfaction of listening to the audiobooks at our leisure.

EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE !!

Let me start off by saying I do like the stories and most of the narrators I’ve heard. My issue is the cost of listening if you decide to purchase. Each chapter requires an average of 6 coins to unlock. If you purchased an entire story you’d pay well over $100 for just ONE story. I do like the stories, but I don’t see how any sane person would pay more than $40 for a book or movie. I understand it’s a business and we pay for entertainment however that’s more than someone’s internet or phone bill. Also with regards to purchasing coins, the higher the coin amount is the more you pay per coin. The 20 coin option is 10.5 cents per coin and the 900 coins are 11 cents a coin. I have purchased coins but once I realized how much it would cost to listen to just one story I stopped. I do like the app and the service it provides however I’m not willing to listen to a story over at least a 3 month period nor am I willing to continually purchase and endless amount of coins. I really hope you figure out a way to provide a more economical service.

Good App but not cost effective.

I love listening to the app and have no issues with even paying for the entire story however I strongly believe these stories are beyond dragged out. So paying these rates that are an ever moving goal post is difficult when one single episode typically 5-8 mins is 7 coins out of 1890 episode. How much will the entire story cost. No book, audio book especially with so much intentional repetition should cost this much. It gets annoying often especially to someone paying money. Don’t even get me started on the 2 free episodes of the same almost 2000 episodes of 1 book. If it can be more realistically affordable then you can increase consistency with your audience. Please ask writers to not drag the books out so much with all these repetitions and twists and turns that cause them the writer to seemingly forget some of the things they said earlier. 🧐 Otherwise a good app and easy to maneuver etc. with loads of options to choose from.

Too expensive to listen to a whole story

I saw an ad for Pocket FM - I listened to a teaser of a story “Insta Empire” the story was great downloaded the app and listened to 34 free 10-12 minutes episodes - the told i could wait 6 hours to listen to the next episode or pay 10 coins - I clicked on the link to find how much coins cost - I was offered a deal buy 40 coins for $4.95 and get 50 coin bonus- I took the offer and was able to listen to about 10 more episodes. I tried to get thé same deal again but the second time it only offered me 5 bonus coins for my $4.99 purchase of 40 coins- the story has over 1000 episodes at this rate it will cost me over $100 to listen to the whole story. Not going to do it when I can download and listen to a whole book on Audible for $10. I wish they had an unlimited plan or a better deal on coins. Too expensive to listen to a whole story. Their stories are good, but their goal is to get you hooked so you have to pay an outrageous price to finish the story. Not going to buy any more coins any time soon- I will look for an alternative service to listen from now on.

I love the app but the new policy updates ruined it

I have been a faithful user of this app for almost a year. I have about 10 stories that i have been listening to in that time span. I have even spent money to buy coins in order to keep listening because some of the stories are THAT GOOD. I listen to so many stories because each story would release approximately 5 episodes a day (about an hours worth of the story) and that was fine. However, last week, i opened the app to listen to my stories and found that only 2 episodes were released in all of my stories. I contacted the support team and they told me that they updates their policies and now only 1-2 episodes will be released per day. I find this very frustrating because most of these stories have 1000+ episodes and each one is approximately 7-15 mins a piece. I’m in the 700s in some stories and others I’m over 500+, and now I’m being told that i can only get 1-2 episodes a day. So whereas it would’ve taken me a few months to finish 1000+ episodes, it’ll now take me 3yrs. I need this to be fixed ASAP. I’m MAJORLY invested in these stories now and the support people basically told me to just deal with it.

Don’t waste your time

I’ve been sucked into two different audio books in this app. At the beginning of the stories the release about 10 episodes per day, the. You have to buy coins to purchase more episodes if you want to keep listening. The further you get into the story the less episodes they release to listen for free daily and there’s more than 1000 episodes in these books with more episodes added often so it’s like there’s no ending to the books, the drama just continues to reel you in and before you know it you’ve spent hundreds of dollars to listen to a book. Not to mention, it doesn’t allow you to skip ahead but doesn’t tell you that when it allows you to purchase an episode further into the book, it uses your coins and starts the very next episode that you haven’t listened to yet, despite that it allows you to select whatever locked episode, and has the button to “purchase and play” that episode for a certain # of coins. It’s just a waste of time. Go buy an actual book that has an ending and that you don’t need to put endless money into to be able to finish it without dragging it out for a year or 2. Lol

Unhappy customer

I love the book I’m currently listening too. I won’t listen to any other one because of the way the you all charge to listen. I wouldn’t mind paying an upfront fee to listen to the book BUT this piece by piece thing is ridiculous!! I haven’t listened in 3 weeks due to other circumstances so went to tune back in and I only had 2 free episodes left. Normally the have accumulated several in that time period. Now it only shows pay to listen and not the count down to the next free episode like it used too. I don’t know what or why you all changed this part but it makes me want to just quit altogether. I have purchased multiple times to be able to listen to the next several episodes but this is ridiculous. Your episodes are extremely short so the cost is high. I could buy an audiobook anywhere else and have the whole thing for what I’ve already paid you all to listen. There are over 2300 episodes of this book I’m currently listening too and I’m in 785. Very Disappointed in this app!!!!!

Unreasonable

I fell inlove with this apps and the stories. My favorite is Saving Nora but, I came to a disappointing end when I had my last episode of the day and then I was given a option to watch 13 ads to gain two more episodes. I am furious because I sat and watched all 13 stupid adds and then I was denied my two episodes!! I feel like that is a major scam for the people who enjoy this app and its stories. I wanted to write this review to let others know if they offer you more episodes by watching ads DON’T DO IT!! ITS A SCAM!! They will not give you your episodes after you sit and watch their stupid ads for games that are also misleading because the ads are nothing like the games at all and the ads where they say you can win money by playing are the BIGGEST SCAMS!! I wanted to write this before I deleted this app and found a new one that is more truthful and no scamming like this one!! Beware!! And try other apps like this one. If your looking for another app to replace this one Reel Short is a good one and they have some of the same stories.

Price gouging

I started out loving this app. I realized that the goal is to have you pay hundreds for one complete product. I don’t feel any fictional book is worth more than $30. After I stopped paying, I began to be limited to how many videos I can watch per day ( equal to no more than 4 episodes, which are like 6 minutes long). Once I didn’t purchase from that intervention, I lost my free episodes for the day. This puts my in a very tight situation. I will not be manipulated into giving away my money. There are so many ways to listen to a book. I hate that the app is basically designed to force you to pay. I will not spend one more dollar with this app. Let’s see how long I will stay interested in it. I will simply go back to to my originals (Kindle, google play, and Audible). I have the app a 3 because I liked one particular book on it and that’s it. I’ve had the displeasure of having this app cheat me out of episodes on multiple occasions and if it wasn’t for the fact that I liked the book, I would rate this app a 1 star.

Good customer service

The book that lead me to this app is long and I’m still listening to it. I find myself wondering why I’m still listening to it because it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. They talk about cell phones and Facebook, but then refer to contracts that parents made at birth to marry their daughters off, and it’s supposed to be set in America. It’s weird, but never the less, has me hooked. When I purchased more coins, apple showed me the total that was purchased that day, which included another app I’d purchased. That happened two days in a row, so I immediately thought it was pocket fm charging me more than 50% in fees. I emailed their customer service and they immediately replied and were eager to get to the bottom of what had happened. I didn’t respond for a few days and they emailed me again, letting me know they hadn’t received my response yet. I gave 4 stars for customer service and the one star I left off was because the book I’m listening to is so weird.

It’s Ok

I love the stories. They give you enough free chapters to get you hooked and even offer you a free credit to buy coins in the beginning to keep you listening. The first 100 or so episodes I was allowed to listen in for up to 8 episodes, but I noticed the price for coins increasing the further I got into the story, and the number of episodes keep decreasing. I am now more than 230 episodes in and can only listen to 2 episodes a day. If I want to listen to more, I have the option to watch videos. It started out with 5 videos, then increased to 14, and now I must listen to 15 redundant ads before getting to listen to 2 more episodes. In short, the further you get into the stories, the more likely you’ll be stuck paying ridiculous prices for coins to a book that you cannot buy any where else. I would buy coins, but $2 for 15 coins that doesn’t even allow you to purchase 2 episodes is ridiculous. AND if you attempt to wait a few days to listen in and catch up, you’re still only entitled to the 2 episodes. This app, although has decent literature, is a scam.
