I paid $700 for this thing. You would think that in this day and age and at this price point they would offer an automated experience that allows for HomeKit integration or at the very least greater control over the scheduling. I need this thing to start at very specific times and I would like to control it through HomeKit. But no. It really feels like some kind of scam. as if they don't want you to control this thing, minimizing how much it's used so that you will buy more of their unbelievably expensive air filter replacements sooner.
I live in a three bedroom townhouse and had the unfortunate experience of enduring a summer without central air conditioning. As a result, my allergies alerted me to the consequence of zero airflow in my home. Rooms were stuffy and dusty despite three A/C window units. I purchased two rabbit air spa-780N purifiers and am beyond pleased to report back that the extra $$ is worth it. Not only am I not coughing and sneezing every morning, I dust less as well! As an avid firearm enthusiast, I regularly use heavy solvents and lube to maintain and clean my collection. Lord knows that odor of these chemicals can leave one desiring a hazmat suit with air filtration system! Suffocate no more with the rabbit air on guard duty!! Minus the initial mushroom cloud of stench upon opening/spraying solvents, the rabbit air kicks into high gear within seconds and abolishes any trace of smell. Prior to its arrival, I could count on that smell lingering for days if not weeks. Rabbit air eats any and all issues for breakfast and keeps my allergies at bay! The app could use some work. After stretched periods of non use, it says “rabbit air not connected”. This can be allayed by force quitting the app. Scheduling is slightly confusing to use and not customizable enough. Night mode can be slightly irritating as it turns the fan speed all the way down. Would be nice to be able to dim the LED’s/mood light as well.
So..the app is meh, kind of whatever. I have more of a set it and forget it approach to air purifiers - except on the rare occasion my husband and I are trying to watch a movie or something. BUT, I've now had three units (one in each of two rooms, and a replacement for one of them) do the same glitchy thing where it will report "blue" or best air quality when it's not connected to the app, then when I get it connected (with nothing else in the environment changing) it's immediately go through the purples to red. I wish I hadn't tried to connect them one last time I just now - they're both stuck on red when they'd been humming along on blue for days... Customer service is somewhat responsive, making you jump through a bunch of hoops to get a swap out, but I'm just not that confident that another one wouldn't just do the same thing. I wish I could just get the price difference for the wifi back because although they appear to filter the air, they just don't work when connected to the app :(
Replace filter light came on so ordered new ones and replaced. Light still on. Called tech support and was told there is a software bug and had to connect unit to wifi and update. Downloaded app, went through multiple cumbersome steps, got solid green wifi light but app can get past this point, get “no app” error. Have tried many fixes with tech support and no luck. They are willing to send a replacement unit but i am not confident i wont have the same issues all over again. Is it the unit (which they admit has at least one bug), the app, or both? This whole process has been a time consuming pain. I would not waste time or money paying for the wifi unit. Does not work. If they are going to offer units that have internet connectivity, the should have a LAN cable jack with a control panel on the unit in addition to wifi through ad app so you can hard wire and avoid these issues (like all printers have)
I purchased the Rabbit Air A3, and when I turn up the fan speed manually on the unit, I looked at the fan speed on the Rabbit Air app, and it didn’t move. The A3 was on fan speed 4, but on the Rabbit Air app it shows the fan speed on 1. This Rabbit Air purifier and the app could be so much better. Pay attention to details and your competitors along with current/future technology, especially when asking for a premium price on the current A3. Can’t wait what Rabbit Air comes out next. And it would be nice if Rabbit Air had a recycle plan? Meaning when we purchase a new Rabbit Air to replace our old unit, and if still fairly new we would get some money back towards a new purchase on a Rabbit Air purifier. And please make the air purifier more quiet even when on the max fan speed. Thank you.
Just follow the directions to get your Rabbit Air connected to your WiFi. You can then - turn off ALL lights, and pretty much do anything else you would need to do. You can schedule fan speed at certain times of the day as well. App works great (had to restart app once as it appeared to lose connection... same thing can happen with the NEST app... no biggie) I’m impressed with how well the app does work. The Rabbit Air itself (minus a2) is pretty much silent on silent speed. I wanted to use it as a white noise machine at night... it will work great for that if you turn it on high or Turbo mode... it will definitely circulate the air. If you’re used to a fan being on you should be fine - if not you might wake up with a dry mouth.
UPDATE: Our Minus A2 is back online. I have updated the star rating accordingly. Thanks for whatever was done to fix this issue! Our RabbitAir Minus A2 worked fine until I purchased a new router and set-up a new WiFi network. Every device connected to the new network right away, including two 2.4 GHz devices, but not the RabbitAir. I spoke with technical support and they did some trouble shooting that failed to solve the problem. They blamed the router and told me to call the router manufacturer - but what would the router manufacturer say since every other device I have connects fine? RabbitAir were dismissive and not helpful. I won’t be buying another RabbitAir!
I have 2 units and recently moved. Prior to the move the units were on 2 floors and never an issue. Now that I moved I was able to connect one unit to WiFi but the other (which is closer to the router) will not connect. Whether using password or WPS it constantly says ERROR and forced me to cancel the entire setup process. Pretty disappointing.
Exceeding my expectations. Just got this for Christmas and so far it seems to work well. One thing would be nice to improve the schedule feature to include days of the week and also rather than having to enable/disable the scheduler just have it override auto so that it resumes auto mode after an override period. Sort of like a smart thermostat where you might want to change a temperature setting for 2 hours and at the end of the period it returns to auto mode.
So far I love the actual filter, but am disappointed with the app only working on a less secure WiFi that everyone can see. The app looks and worked great the few minutes my WiFi’s security was reduced in order to connect with the filter; however as soon as security was turned back on this app stopped working. It should be made to work even when WiFi is hidden, like numerous other apps that control things around the house. I regret wasting the extra $20 for WiFi capability that can’t be used unless I want to sacrifice WiFi security.
Hello everyone. I installed the app and went through the step by step instructions to setup the air purifier, wireless, etc.. It was a no-brainer and worked exactly as expected. Maybe all the bugs have now been corrected. I encountered ZERO issues. 10 stars. Just letting everyone know that I setup a minusA2 and NOT an A3.
I just bought two new Minus A2 Rabbit air purifiers. I was sent a link to this app, but it’s worthless to me as it does not work with my brand new Rabbit purifiers. I do not have a wi-fi button on either of my purifiers to connect them. Like, huh?? I thought I was buying the newest, most expensive, version of their purifier, and just took delivery yesterday. But it seems there must be some newer version available, unavailable on their website, which works with this app, as it does NOT work with the purifiers that I just purchased! Disappointing...
I had the A2 unit for almost a year with no problems. When all of a sudden I got kicked off of Wi-Fi. Now every time I try to connect, it connects no problem but then when I go to use the app later it is off-line I contacted RabbitAir and spoke to them numerous times, with all of the troubleshooting, the same thing keeps happening.I am truly getting no help from them. This unit is very expensive and I should not be having these problems. very frustrating.
The app seems to work fine. It would be cool if it could display graphs of pollution over time rather than just the current estimated value. This could make it easier to design appropriate schedules. It’d also be nice if the UI included helper text to explain what the negative ions feature is doing.
I wrote an earlier review giving a lower grade and I will say I jumped the gun....after calling Rabbit Air, the awesome customer service rep walked me right through the install process and it was breeze. I’ve been messing with the controls and I really like the flexibility.... Again, thanks Rabbit Air for having such good customer service team in place !!!
While the actual device works great, the app (which is what I’m rating) is complete garbage. I cannot go 1 login without having an issue. Recently, it has just been showing a perpetual loading screen and not allowing me to do ANYTHING. I can’t click on any of the buttons or control any features. I have tried restarting everything (device, WiFi, iPhone) and nothing is working. I even deleted and reinstalled the app, and same issue. This is a major issue that should be resolved.
App was easy to set up. It gave specific instructions and they were easy to understand and follow. I had my Rabbit Air set up on my phone in less than 5 minutes. I like that I can check my air filter from bed or work if I want to. 😀
We have been using Rabbit Air purifier for more than a year. Purifier itself is excellent. It does what it claims to do. However, ever since we replaced our old router to Eero, Rabbit air wifi doesn’t connect to it. We tried several approaches such as rebooting the router and retry connecting but none of them works. It’s very frustrating to know that I cannot use wifi function even though the purifier has a feature. Definitely need some solution here.
The Rabbit Air purifier works great! The quality of the filters and quiet operation ensure most pollutants are filtered. It would be helpful to integrate an air quality meter in the unit. The app is ok, but needs some work. I have a few other Wi-Fi enabled air purifiers that include current air quality readings outside and historical trends of your indoor air quality. I’d love to see data trends in the app not just control.
1 year later, still not able to connect to the Wi-Fi
My MinusA2 used to be able to connect to the Wi-Fi, but not anymore. I have exchanged countless emails with the support last year, exchanged the unit multiple times – no luck. I decided to give it a go today, thinking they would have solved the issue. Still not. I was planning on buying more units but won’t because of this issue.
Good start to the app. It crashed every now and then I’d have to restart the app then it works great. Improvement Suggestions: 1) on the schedule allow it to be on “auto” or “pollen” mode during certain hours of the day 2) have historical air quality graph If those 2 things were added then I’d rate the app 4 stars. If it was a little smoother which I can tell your trying to do then it would be 5 stars.
App constantly nags to use Bluetooth EVERY time I open it I have to dismiss a notification asking for it. I don’t want and will never grant you access to my Bluetooth so stop asking! Also, “Schedule” only allows set fan speeds for each hour of the day - it doesn’t allow me to schedule “Auto” for some times and “Low” for others (e.g. while sleeping so the fan doesn’t roar).
Impossible to connect unless you go the WPS route. Finally connected when I found the WPS on my router and then when I finally got access to the app there’s a perpetual loading screen that says “Cloud setup is in progress. Please wait a minute.” 20 minutes later still staring at that screen. Can’t believe I paid almost $800 for this thing.
Good overall...needs updated features in Scheduling
The app seems to have all the features except the schedule is missing Pollen and Auto mode. If the developers can add these 2 modes to the schedule them I believe this application would be excellent!
New update has taken a functional app to the state of none functionality. I can no longer log in or do anything to control my purifier. I’m was considering buying a new rabbit air purifier…this however has sealed the deal on me looking else where. Shame!
I enable the schedule, and close the app. A couple of hours later I open the app and the schedule is disabled. This defeats the purpose of having a schedule. I’ll update my rating to 5 stars once this gets fixed. I have my app updates set to automatic, so I am always running the latest version. Thanks for looking into this.
Unfortunate that only my husband can login from his phone. This is very ridiculous because we live in a house with multiple people (as many people do!) who need to control the units!! I cannot constantly be asking him to make adjustments. This should be an easy fix. Please adjust and update the app ASAP.
The app doesn’t work properly. It doesn’t adjust fan speed or turn off lights. It only seems to want to turn on and off. If I had realized it came with a remote I wouldn’t have paid the extra money to get the Wi-Fi enabled rabbit.
This app doesn’t work. I was able to get the app to recognize my A3 once but it always said it was offline and the controls did nothing. I uninstalled and tried to re-add my A3 but now it wont even recognize there’s an A3. Best to ignore that this purifier even has an app/wireless connection.
“Purchase a $700 air purifier,” they said. “It will be great,” they said. Well, that is until you need any type of support. The app is a useless web frame that doesn’t enable account creation and phone support is useless unless you connect your unit to the internet and a subsequent user account within the app.
Thinking of sending this back and getting the cheaper one. WiFi app doesn’t work. It won’t connect to my phone, despite having the most updated app. I also found I interesting that they sign you up with a passcode but don’t tell you.
This app is the worst app I have ever used. It is almost impossible to even login, keeps crashing and always keeps freezing up. Every page is an error message. I will return this item today.
Connects to my MinusA3, auto fills the serial number, but won’t advance to the next step. Unfortunately that makes the app not function at all, so this app is basically useless.
It worked great for a while. Suddenly it’s offline and can’t connect. Removing and reconnecting the unit always errors out. Useless now, just leave the unit on auto and call it a day.
Tells you to create an account, then says account is already created. Try to login with my email and it says account does not exist. Over and over again. Guess I’ll just stick with the remote
Apparently I set a PIN number at some point for my account. I have forgotten it and there is no way I can find to reset it. Really bad user experience design.
Initial setup went fine. 30 minutes later it’s totally offline and won’t reconnect. Wasted $$$ buying the WiFi enabled unit. Skip it and get the less expensive unit. Will save $$$ and aggravation. The app is crap.
