As someone who likes to set it and forget it, I know this app gets me in the ballpark of a proper suspension setup. If I feel like tweaking further I can, but this is a great starting point! Also great if you have friends borrowing your bike - just change the rider weight and get new reccos for them.
Can enter serials, receive product info, setup recommendations that are more specific than the sticker on the fork including rebound suggestions, which the sticker doesn’t offer. Also offers service kits and upgrade parts. Best part is it now offers starting suggestions for rear shocks. There is also a link to an entire tuning guide that walks a user through the many possible adjustments and what they can do for their ride. Trailhead does the job.
I recent purchased a Specialized Chisel that came with Rockshox Reba forks. I am certainly no suspension expert but this app was easy to use. Enter the serial number of the fork, your weight with riding gear and then adjust the air psi and rebound to the number of clicks provided. It literally took two minutes.
I don’t get the point of this app. So there is no tuning instructions for my air fork with low speed compression and rebound adjustments? Nothing for shock pressure? I mean come on, at least link to the generic tuning PDF on your website! There is also no “upgrade kits” yet a selectable option displayed for it. The “service kit” option literally gives you part numbers an no links to dealers or even a google search. Did anyone think to QA this app or did they have their high-schooler develop this in an afternoon? Sorry, this gets a big F…
This app has potential to be good. Being able to create a profile and save your shock and fork is at least a starting point. Every time you get on the app you have to type in your serial number to pull up your product which gets old after a while. On top of that, the app doesn’t work at the moment which is annoying.
Entered serial numbers for all 3 of my Revelation forks and my daughter’s Reba. Apparently SRAM/RockShox doesn’t think that tuning info is important to us plebs, unless you’re a pro/expert running their top line models, as it offered NO setup info for any of our four forks. Basically, a glorified parts lookup. I’d rather give my local shop a few shekels to do what this app claimed to do. More reason to check out FOX at the end of the day.
As others have stated, it’s pointless. You enter the serial number plus rider weight and it gives the pressure that’s already printed on the shock. It makes no mention of balancing the (+) & (-) air chambers or setting sag. It does give a starting point for rebound, but no info about high or low compression. I deleted the app and downloaded the suspension instructions from the website. The downloaded instructions provide the info you’d expect…balancing air pressure, setting sag, etc.
What’s the point of an app that gives you recommended upgrades and exact compatible parts, if the parts are incorrect and don’t actually work with the serial number you provide?? Trash. Don’t waste your time. I bought a part that this app recommend, based off my fork serial number and brought it to the shop for them to disassemble and realize the part didn't work.
Might as well just go to the website instead of downloading
This could be so much more. No different than going to the website. Doesn’t even save the fork or shock model so you can come back without looking it up again. Should also include what changes you could make based on what you are feeling.
I echo what others have said. There is no real tuning advice. It’s essentially an app for initial pressure. Recommendations like this would be a good start: Harshness - reduce 5-psi Easily Bottoms out - add 5-10psi or add token Like the feel but blows through travel - add token Harsh in high speed bumps - speed up rebound etc...
I would expect one of leading companies in the MTB industry to have a reliable and functional app for their products. The Trailhead app crashes frequently and doesn’t store any data about the user’s forks or shocks. Every time you use you have to start from scratch again. Big disappointment.
Helped to get my initial settings close. It would be nice to save my serial numbers and nickname each setup so that it would save my settings and keep track of any modifications I made (recent pressures, added tokens, etc.)
Downloaded the app to lookup my fork specs via serial number. Allows me to enter the serial number but the “ENTER” button does not respond. The website also is down saying “too many redirects”. I guess the web designers went home for the holidays after doing a poor upgrade.
It gave an initial setting recommendation for the fork, and it did need some adjustments after but it was a good starting point. It would be nice to have a few other features.
There are no tuning recommendations for my kid’s fork on his 2021 Stumpy. Not sure why this is but SRAM website directs you to this app for this reason. Not very useful. Also. Would be nice to be able to save suspension setups for each bike. Will certainly be happy to update this review if the app is updated to be of use to my specific 2021 forks and shocks.
The workaround I found was to switch it to German language in the upper right corner, then pick your fork. It actually allows you to click “enter” in the German version. Then switch back to English after you’re selected your fork. Yikes.
The whole point of downloading this app was to get suggestions on tuning, but my fork doesn’t have that option. Don’t waste your time downloading this. If you want info on your fork, just refer back to the manufacturer of the bike.
I type in the s/n of my new fork, identifies the shock but the tuning button is grayed out. Also does not store it, so you have to type in the s/n every time anyways. C’mon.
I downloaded the application .. when I open it it asks me for the serial number of the fork .. when I enter I find 4 options .. but the set-up does not work..🤷♂️
Pretty much like everyone else says it’s pointless!! I wanted more detailed base setup for my shock to get a base for LSC HSC And all it does is give you rebound and air.
