It had the surprising effect of decreasing my body aches!
I love my Sensate and have told anyone who will listen about it. I bought it to help with my HRV as it was low and I was worried that my heart may have issues (which run in the family) so I wanted to tone my vagus nerve and improve my HRV. What I didn’t expect was it to make it easier to get out of bed in the morning as it relaxed my body so much that my inflammation started to decrease, which decreased my morning stiffness and aches. That’s a great side effect!!
I like the device, it’s easy to use, I particularly like that I use it 10 mins every day and have only had to charge once. It is expensive and what is frustrating is after spending a lot of money on the device you then have to deal with an App with so many locked tracks you have to pay for, and very few “free” tracks. And also it’s glitchy, I often try and run a 10 minute version of the one track I like (thankfully I really like it) and it keeps running the 20 minute version despite restarting several times. This is annoying when you only have 10 minute to spend and means you have to stop the track suddenly mid way through. I’ve asked for help explaining my issues and received no help. Just been directed to put my issues into a Google document, even though I’ve already explained them. So I can recommend Sensate, sort of, with these caveats.
The device is good and it has great potential. The app is lacking a lot. There are not many choices of meditations to choose from and they added 3 additional ones but want me to pay a monthly fee for the use of them. Not at all pleased about that! The choices are not explained well as far as what type of sound is used and the desired outcome. Also, other than one choice, you can’t change the duration of time that they play. For 8$ a month on the Expand app I get close to 100 choices that are clearly categorized and many with time options. For the price of this device, I expected something similar to the Expand app, without being asked to pay 8$ for 3 meditations per month. Luckily I am still within the return period. I hope the meditations available will be increased in number and with better descriptions.
Great too little to choose from… idea, I like the feeling (actually like the drumming sensation better than the vibrations), but VERY little to work with!😰 For 3 HUNDRED DOLLARS ($300), 13 different Tracks, (which I’ve listened to all in just a few days so already bored with them), most only 10 min duration, and most are not even intense enough at highest intensity, is just not worth the money. And to get just a few more tracks I’d have to already pay more? That’s just a crime! None of this was mentioned up front so, unless I hear (very soon) that there will be MANY more choices, I will have to ask for my money back, and wait til someone else does it better… Very sad as had really hoped this would be a great help for my severe Anxiety!
So first, I bought the device because it supposedly helps improve HRV balance. And it DOES. No question. And the app is OK but there is one thing I don't like about it and one thing I hate about it. I wish they gave more information about the tracks. Some seem to be sleep oriented from the title it accompanying graphic. But that's a guess. What I hate is if I forget to put my phone in airplane mode and I get a call then my session is not paused. It's stopped. Can't restart. Have to start all over again. They need to fix that.
I was a serious doubter. One who has tried everything to get more sleep, more easily relax and try to teach myself to “meditate.” Nothing has worked before Sensate. I’m telling everyone I know about it. Not only am I sleeping more, but when I use it before bed, I spend more time in deep sleep and feel so much more rested.
I am continually asked to open a new account almost every time I use this App. It can't seem to remember that I have been using this App for over two years, and that I have an existing account. It is still happening. Hard to improve one's stress with a device and App, when trying to do so only creates more stress. Tried using just now and did it again. It has no record of my account. I will stop suggesting this device to others. A hassle to constantly have to create a new account to use this. The device works great when the App doesn't make me want to throw it against a wall.
My Sensate has been great, it really seems to help me. However, I’m tired of the songs and wish I could choose 5 and 15 minute options. I also feel all the songs should allow you to choose how long you want to use them, as my favorite one if only 10 minutes long. Overall, I recommend, but I’m disappointed that the developers have done nothing more in the full 1.5 years that I’ve had it.
I don’t understand why it takes so long to “load” an already downloaded track to use. When I am fortunate enough to sneak away for half an hour to use the app, I’d like my time to go toward improving my mental health, not further stressing it. Beyond that, the track categories are unhelpful and vague. The categories are things like Space and Time, Sacred Spaces, and Somnus. I would find it much more useful if they were listed by certain intended outcomes or states of mind like: healthy digestion, easing anxiety, calming the mind, letting go, gaining focus, improving energy, winding down, etc.
I’ve had my Sensate for several years and it is used twice a day every day! I have never had an issue until this weekend when I updated. I had difficulty and sent a message to the sensate team. The response ans solution was in my inbox this morning. So easy to fix the problem😎
I got it through their Indigogo campaign since it seemed to be simple to use yet effective. Additionally, this came endorsed by Dave Asprey so I decided to support their campaign. Little did I know how amazing this little tool is to relax and recharge during these challenging times! The app is easy to use and entire process is very intuitive! Well done team Sensate 💝
Despite saying they would, Sensate now appears to have no intention of expanding the free track options included with the purchase of the Sensate. So that leaves you with a grand total of 13 or so tracks for all time unless you want to fork over even more money—as if paying $300+ for the Sensate itself weren’t enough. They can’t be bothered to expand the free tier at all while plugging their subscription model, of course, as that would undercut their goal of making even more money off of you. Shameful and ridiculous.
For an expensive piece of kit, the Sensate hardware, the app is surprisingly lacking. Really basic and there are a only a few tracks to choose from. Using for almost one has half years same few tracks. Also, no way to keep tabs on the battery life or % left in the hardware. That would be a welcome addition to the app. It needs an overhaul. Part of the experience of using this kit is the app and it needs to progress if people are to shell out this king of money.
Love my Sensate device it does help to get me in meditation state & works well with no issues. My only complaint is the lack of updates, I had it for almost a year & the number of audio options is the same. No updates to add new audio clips & the existing ones get old if you use it everyday day. There seems to be no development from the team which is disappointing.
Sensate does not provide anywhere near enough meditative tracks to justify the expense of the device AND a Plus subscription. I’m truly shocked by this. As far as the effect of the device itself I’m still assessing the possible benefits. I would not recommend buying the device or the Plus membership until Sensate gets its act together and provides substantially more meditation recordings.
The app design itself looks like it’s from the early 2000’s, their UX UI designer needs to be fired. And there’s barely any music options - most of them are annoying and give me more anxiety. The only thing I can tolerate is the Nature one since it’s the least offensive. For this expensive device, I expected a better app and user experience. Please update this hideous app and bring it to 2022 standards!
This changed my life. I tried the EMS vagus nerve stimulators and I didn't like the feeling. This is a wonderful experience. I cannot describe it, you just have to try it yourself. I'm much more calm. I sleep better. I can do a 10 minute session before an appointment with my client. I love this product!
Sensate has been with me for 22 months, first to calm down overstressed body/mind. Was involved as Key aspect on to balance. Have withnessed 50+ people who have tried it once, 80-90% get an awe experience for just 10 minute try. Recently have been using it with 60-70% sensitive vibration to activity hearth connection, coherence States of being balance in mind/body/Feel. Recommend based on own experience: - grounding, clearing of mind - calming active mind after intensive mental focus - sprints - insomnia, relaxation - as part of morning routine, before meditation - Sports recovery (still testing)
I have used three of these now bc they all stop working at some point. The vibration will not work, even though the device is connected. I have gone through every piece of trouble shooting. There is a major lack of customer service. No one will respond to emails and there is no phone number to reach out to. I just bought my third Sensate today, straight out of the box zero vibration. I give up at this point. Don’t waste your money.
Dealing with so much stress and looking for ways to cope- tried meditation, exercise, sauna, journaling. But the biggest improvement came once my sensate 2 arrived. I get such a relief from the stress, such a calm and peaceful feeling. It’s what’s gotten me through a very difficult period.
Since it helps me get to sleep after a very stressful day, and sometimes in the middle of the day, I will pull out my Sensate and take a 10 minute journey of peace to focus on the rest of my day
Sensate is definitely not for everyone. It’s not contraindicated for anyone but I discovered that it was way too powerful for me. It triggered an arrhythmia. I returned it & thought I’d get a full refund, but they refused to refund shipping because I didn’t “enjoy” the device. Just felt rather clueless and tacky and reminded me of the unpleasant experience. It wasn’t about “enjoyment” - it became dangerous for me. Would’ve left me with a positive experience of the company to just refund me completely.
I find I don’t care for most of the audio selections. Wish we could build our own sound, like you can in some apps. Sensate beat, layer in some rushing water, birdsong… healing frequencies even.
It is an amazing product. Due to workload and my lifestyle; I was suffering from anxiety and not able to sleep or to function at my full capacity. Thanks to Sensate I am able to manage my stress and get a good night sleep.
With everything going on it’s put a huge toll on my stress. I have ADHD so using apps like Headpsace and Calm are a struggle for me. This is the first thing that has actually helped me stick with it and has really helped me reduce my stress.
I have enjoyed using my Sensate. It has helped me sleep better and relax during time of high stress. Thanks sensate team for making my life better. Gordon Bufton
I’m wading into the surf by applying Sensate for meditation and find my body responds right away with the vibrations. Hoping to use this as a tool for phobia exposure training in the future. Wish there was more music to choose from.
Good device, but beware of pressure to subscribe to their Plus service
While I have been happy with the device itself, the company has pivoted very hard towards a subscription model since I purchased the device two years and has made it difficult to uncover free sessions in the app.
For the amount of $$ spent on what’s essentially a vibrating puck that syncs to meditation music you’d think the company would support the device more than 12 month warranty. I liked it when it works but know it’s only good for 1year.
After spending over $300 on the device, you’re forced to subscribe annually to utilize the majority of its features through its faulty and invasive app. Too bad- this seemed like a great concept, albeit expensive investment upon its launch. Seems like a scam now.
After paying hundreds of dollars for the device that can be manufactured for about $20, I found that most of the “music” required to use it is locked behind a subscription service. Absolute garbage! I feel swindled
My unit broke in less than a month so app is pointless
Like many reviews that have been popping up lately, my Sensate unit broke in less than a month and no response from customer service to try swap or refund under the warranty. App is useless if the Sensate doesn’t work!
Aside from the device size (comparing to Apollo), Sensate & the app is severely limited. Cons: -Cannot use your own audio while using device at the same time. It will stop vibration. (I communicated with customer service and their suggestion was to use another device for listening to music, binaural beats etc.) -Very limited free tracks and even limited tracks when you pay. Pro: size of device.
The device itself is very good. Which is why I can’t understand how the app is so bad. The plus membership is so utterly useless that it’s borderline a scam. Lots of wasted potential here.
