First time owner of a smartwatch and so far I like it. I can not compare it with other brands of smartwatch, but I can say that this is a really nice product. I like it that it is not made of plastic, thus it gives you the look of a regular sports watch. Not too big, just right. One charge last for more than 2 weeks. You can also change the info you want to see in the dial. Affordable than some brands.
I love the Jorn smartwatch. It has had some pairing issues and sometimes the buttons get pressed unintentionally and weird things happen but support has been helpful, attentive, and prompt. Before this I used a Fitbit for many years. And while I love how the actual watch looks- the app is pretty basic- it feels more like an advertisement and a toy rather than a wellness tool. Maybe that is fair- given the fact that the watch isn’t really for the hard core fitness athlete- but can’t casual health people track their fitness too? What I would like: Adding an activity via the app. Sometimes I forget to press the button to track the activity. Or sometimes the activity isn’t offered to track (swimming/ Pilates) I still want the gold star for doing an excercise and I don’t want to have to have multiple apps to track this. Active minutes- I have no idea how this app tracks this because it seems to track an estimate of ANY calories burned- not actually active ones when my heart rate increases or walking speed increases to a certain point Stop trying to sell me more watches- I don’t need 5 buttons in the middle of my app advertising your products. I already have one of your products. If I’m happy with it, I’ll buy more. Make me happy. I don’t feel that the sleep tracking is quite as accurate as the Fitbit.
I purchased this watch in May of 2022 at the time I was utilizing Google’s Wear os to sync my watch with my phone. The phone worked perfectly. I could change watch faces with ease wether they were Skagen faces or third party faces. There were a good number of tiles to choose from. The exercise tracking worked well, the gps tracking of exercise routes was highly accurate. Since updating the watch’s software recently, I have noticed a marked decrease in functionality of the watch. While I can change the Skagen watch faces easily and somewhat customize them it is not easy to change the data on the face. They have decreased the amount of tiles available, thereby taking away functionality of the watch. The gps function of the exercise tracking is highly inaccurate. Overall I would have to say that the software update and app is highly disappointing. G. Gagnon
A few issues with the app (Skagen Jorn Gen 6), starting with a failure to connect to the app. The watch itself is constantly connected to my phone but the all often takes me to a troubleshooting page and refers to Gen 5 watches. The pedometer is also inaccurate reading random movements as steps, it jumped from 133 to 250 while I was sitting in my car this morning. I had just put it on about 5 minutes prior, 133 was correct (likely just a watch-specific issue) The app also has to be foremost on your recent apps or it will disconnect the watch (I use it to check the Temperature as I spend a lot of time outdoors with a camera in my hand and no easy way to access my phone). With a solid connection to my phone the app shouldn’t disconnect unless closed. This isn’t an infrequent problem, and it’s applied to my current iPhone 14 Pro and my old iPhone 12 mini.
Great watch. Even includes my favorite workout that you don’t always see in a sport watch. It will be an exceptional device if it updated even if the app was not on. Otherwise it is a clear screen; can see it in most conditions, and doesn’t feel clumsy on the wrist.
1.) Could you add temperature to the watch. My Skagen SKT1305 has a 1/4 quart dial which goes from 0-100. In my Fahrenheit world, the temperature usually doesn't go above or below this. And if it does, it would be sorta fun to see it like. “How do you know its cold!” “Look how far below zero it is!” 2.) Could you also add Month to the Date calendar One of my 3 options on my Skagen SKT1305 is the calendar, and both hands show the day along the 31 indicators. The little hand could point to the month using the indicators. 3.) release developer tools Even though my model shows analogue values, the simplicity of certain functions is extremely desirable. Using multiple buttons for specific tasks would also be cool. (Reset safe button would be to hold a certain button for a period of time or in a sequence) Absolutely AWESOME Watch, but UNTIL the next update there is so much opportunity slept on. I will be following up with this issue
I kind of like that we get a different number of steps now, it was all weird and didn’t synch with the Health app steps, now both have a similar count. I would request that the friend option may be set to private, I am starting to receive friend request from someone who definitely looks like catfishing.
I’ll start off by saying that I love my hybrid smartwatch. However, the new update has left a lot to be desired. With the old app you could: - Switch the rotation of the watch face so the buttons could be on the left or right - Assign all three buttons rather than just two - Clear all notifications by holding the bottom button then clicking to clear. Now you have hold to scroll to the bottom, click to scroll through the last notification, then click clear and confirm Along with that, other than a sleeker UI, we haven’t really gained any features. The new settings menu is a bit nicer and I like having a percentage for battery life, but I don’t feel like we’ve gained anything. Hopefully these features get added back soon.
I love my watch it tracks my steps and alerts me to appointments and wakes me up in the mornings. I am to control the music on my phone during my walks. It has taken a beaten on some CB of the trips I have taken and it has not failed me once.
Crazy that they dont have a setting to flash/display a digital time. Seems like an easy feature to add, not sure why you havent. The weather feature also doesnt always upload very well, but that might be more of a phone problem. Other than that i’m loving it so far
There’s no real reason to not help your users and simply combine the Skagen and Fossil apps as they are basically the same…. Many users have multiple hybrid watches spanning the two namesakes and it’s silly to keep them partitioned. Join the apps and the data so our lives are easier!
I’ve had a hybrid watch lined to this app for about 5 years. Some improvements in the last year have really improved performance and it works pretty flawlessly now.
I like how the app looks. I’m able to customize my watch face and change them whenever I want. Connecting the phone to the watch and setting it up was surprisingly painless!
Has almost all the features I want! The background customization is the best feature of the watch. Unfortunately it is a bit buggy and I’ve never gotten it to actually display data on my hybrid smartwatch.
The main dashboard is poorly designed. The main reason is that the fitness/sleep data is at the very bottom of the main screen right underneath advertisements to shop for more products. Reversing the order on this would go a huge way towards a more intuitive design.
This app consistently underestimates your step count compared to Apple Health app by thousands of steps per day. In fact it’s rather useless for step counting and setting alarms, but otherwise works if you do not require those features.
This new update doesn’t show the full text message on the watch like the previous firmware version. Please go back to that it was so much nicer. Or is there anyway to downgrade the watch to that firmware
Hopefully we can see an upcoming update that adds Google Assistant to Fossil and Skagen watches sooner rather than later. WearOS needs to get it’s act together.
I love the combination of Scandinavian design and interactive function with my iPhone this watch is a cut above and is reasonably priced highly recommend it
The app is FULL of ads. The ad space to usable features ratio is abysmal. The software is also clunk and unintuitive. Y’all need to go back to the drawing board with your entire UI and UX. Two stars because it’s mostly usable. Kind of.
Watch and app works great together for a couple days. But after about 3 days you cannot sync and you have to reset the watch in order to log health information again. It just says to “Troubleshoot” but never works unless you do a full reset/reconnect.
I use (or should I say used) my watch several times a day Every Day, at the grocery store and department stores. Very nice considering Covid, I didn’t have to touch those dirty machines. Now with the new skagen app, I can’t pay with my watch anymore. I’m very disappointed.
When I first got the watch, everything was great. Until the updates to the app came. Since then my watch hasn’t been able to connect to the app at all. I would definitely not recommend buying a smart watch or hybrid watch from Skagen.
***update*** I'm done with Skagen. Their watches last about two years. The app has constant sync issues. It will show your step count one day and then the next day, the steps will just disappear- so you show 12k steps then the next morning it shows half that. Fossil bought them a while back so that explains a lot. Another great company destroyed. Old review below: The watches have a really nice interface but...when you sync now you lose steps! This must be fixed immediately. I own 5 Skagen watches, 4 of them are hybrids so needless to say I love Skagen.
The latest update is junky. First you have to re-log in. 2nd not working to set it up. The previous version worked well. The update messed up the whole thing.
This app gets worse with every release. Not only is it confusing to navigate now, it no longer shares data with apple health. This is very disappointing.
Although the new interface is attractive, the recent update has resulted in a problem with activity tracking. It will periodically SUBTRACT from the steps recorded when you sync. This needs to be fixed ASAP!
I have been a Fossil watch owner for almost 20 years, and was touting their solid performance and value, and awesome warranty to others. This Skagen watch was a gift and I am delighted. The features are cool, relevant and it's customizable in ways I actually can use it. Again, great value. Only had it two weeks so far, so if anything changes I will update my review (especially when I need to go for warranty work!). If I could change anything, it would be the ability to select what each button does; not just the bottom LINK button. An alternate time zone isn't as useful as all the LINK options. As of Dec 2016, you can only pick one. It would be cool to control music AND take pictures - I'd sacrifice knowing another time zone, or the day of the month, for that.
Dark mode. Nuff said. Bring back the mode button option, with the option of setting a different function to the long press. I would love to have a button work as the mode button on short press and ring my phone on the long press. Export all data to Apple Health. It would be nice to get sleep tracking and other data into an interface that can be cross referenced with data points Skagen doesn't track. By being able to see a connection between say, getting less sleep and gaining weight, the data gathered by the watch would become a lot more useful. Add a scroll indicator to the right side of the app tabs. When I first used the app I had no idea that there were additional views for the data when you scroll down. Having a narrow indicator on the right side would hint at additional features without disrupting the design. Open Source? If the app isn't going to be maintained in the future, open sourcing the app would let those of us who love our Skagen Hybrid watches continue to develop features for some of the best looking activity trackers ever made. Things like using the accelerometer for input (tapping ...---... on your watch to engage SOS, flicking it twice to answer a phone call, etc.) or custom button combinations to launch specifics apps could be added on top of established features to extend the platform's utility even further. Overall: love the hardware, don't hate the software, just think there's a lot of untapped potential.
The font used in the app is quite hard to read. I am 34 with perfect vision. I only look at the app at night when I'm setting the alarm. Dark room, night mode, thin artistic font, greyed out numbers- just hard to see. Would also be nice if the watch vibrated when my phone alarm went off. As it stands I have to set the alarm in the app for the watch vibration and my regular iPhone alarm for the noise. The vibration on the Hald hybrid was not strong enough to wake me for the first few mornings and occasionally since so I have to set a back up. The vibration does wake me most mornings now after about a month. I also have not figured out how to sync the sleep metrics with the default iPhone health app. Lastly, the watch had been indicating my husband was calling/texting/emailing when he was sitting next to me driving, doing none of those things.
One thing I have to state about almost all fitness trackers in general… Make the data modifiable and correctable! In other words… I know when I go to sleep, I know when I wake up, and if the fitness tracker is incorrect about said data points, then I should be given the liberty to correct it. The fact that Fitbit is the only interface that allows a person to correct or enter this information manually (within limits, because even these dummies don’t let you touch step data) is a little retarded. (Meaning... that it retards the process of logging your health practices and information.) Not everything should be automated people. We are not machines. Kind face, We know ourselves better then the machines that monitor our daily habits. So give us the liberty to correct their mistakes and fix this ridiculous oversight in the software. (FTR... this software is better then 90% of the other softwares out there. Fossil, Garmin and Apple are only one star and Fitbit got 3)
I bought this watch second hand at charity thrift store I work at. I’m glad I was able to give about $90 to a charity I stand behind but I would have never forked out the retail price of $170 for this watch and app. It barely functions as a tracker. Especially a sleep tracker. Even if I keep it on while I sleep. Most of the features it has are so basic they really don’t do much helping me throughout the day. The only thing that has come in hand has been the shutter control for my phone camera and music controls. And it’s a very nice looking watch. So as a second hand gift to my self and a moderate donation to AIDS WALK it was worth what I paid. However it’s not very helpful or worth it other than telling time and having a stylish watch. Definitely not worth the retail asking price. I wouldn’t recommend it.
Love the watch. Hard to find an activity tracker/smart watch with a classic look. Most look sporty or techie, but this is great if you want an everyday watch you can wear to business meetings while still logging activity and storing data. My concern is the large discrepancy between actual distance traveled and what the app reports. I wear it while running, but I suppose the stride length is fixed and based on an average step. Probably takes height into the equation? Even walking 1 mile slowly (yes, wrist is free and to the side) equates to roughly .8 mi. To the developers, would increasing my height 2-3 inches get a more accurate result? It’d be cool to have a run setting we could select prior to cardio workouts to account for longer strides and produce more accurate distances. I had a Huawei Watch, very impressive, but it totally died and no one services them.
