I was able to configure my new Sram Red AXS drive train through the app. However, It repeatedly hung and I was forced to restart the app several times. I had no trouble updating the firmware of each of the shifting components including the power meter. I was unsuccessful at reaching the setup menu on my iPhone and eventually stopped and installed the app on my iPad. I was then able to connect to all components at the same time and get into the setup menu. On I positive note, the changes I made to actuation and sequential shifting worked perfectly and have been very satisfying. Sram has a special challenge in that the app must connect to each of the 4 wireless shifting components simultaneously. Presently, Campagnolo and Shimano only need to connect to the singular interface because the parts are hard-wired to eachother. Given Sram’s special challenge, the current version is barely adequate and needs some serious refinement.
The original app had a lot of bugs. In fact, one of the instructions in the app was “if you can’t connect to your SRAM, force-quit the app, cycle Bluetooth off and on, and reopen the app”. Ha, no lie. Anyway, it works a lot better now. I am able to connect every time I open the app now. I was able to change the shifting option from one gear per click to include 3 gears for holding the shifter. I like that you can do that for only 1 direction if you want. My only complaint is the battery level display on the app should be bigger, and include percentage. Even nice to have a separate battery indicator app, because once you setup the shifting, you will rarely need the app for anything except to check battery level. I’m happy with the app, and I absolutely love my SRAM Eagle system and will never go back to shift cables.
While most functions of this app worked decently, I was unable to delete any bikes or add any pictures. While the initial set up was rather time consuming, the performance of this app degraded over time. I am somewhat disappointed in this app, while I was able to customize my shifting, I would like to see the feature where you can view the amount of time spent in each gear in the app rather than a separate website. For such an exciting development in the mountain biking world, I expected better in terms of overall ease and convenience from this app.
First, you have to dig in three levels to get to your drive chain adjustments, which is really the only thing I use the app for. Second, the app doesn’t seem to switch to the cog the bike is actually on. you have to force quit and reopen the app to get it to move to the right cog to make adjustments. I got a developer response saying that’s not how the app is supposed to work. Well, no kidding. Maybe you can fix it.
There’s no way to use this app and not walk away angry. I’m supposed to keep pushing buttons and connecting things and choosing “master” component, whatever that means. Can’t add multiple to one bike? What? Good luck making an adjustment in the field with this random login requirement. Not that you could do it in a reasonable amount of time anyway given how utterly flaky it is. Note to SRAM: I know you build bike components not software. But factor in the true cost of outsourcing this. I am avoiding Flight Attendant because i can’t imagine relying on this app to deal with my suspension. I have no faith that your App team knows how to create a UX to make your products viable.
This app is bad and needs work. It won’t let me include both the Reverb and Derailleur systems to my one bike profile. “Only one system per bike allowed“?!? That doesn’t make sense for a mtb that can have both a dropper and shifting system. Other problems include one shifter that doesn’t show the battery level in the app. It also has some system that failed linking to the app, but can’t be identified or deleted. Even when deleting and reinstalling the app. It shows up as a “0” item. I was able to turn on the multishift setting for the derailleur and check for the latest firmware. That’s it. I would love for all the components to show up in my (one) bike profile, for the battery levels to all be shown when connected, and some minor improvements overall to how component/status and settings can be managed/viewed. First two requests seem basic.
I have to get pretty mad to leave a review, but this app has done it. You have no choice but to get it if you have the AXS system, but know that it IS DEEPLY FLAWED. I am hoping SRAM will see this and correct MAJOR issues. 1) I was in the middle of nowhere and had to microadjust the derailleur. I opened the app and it had signed me out of my account (why do you need a friggin account at all?!) There was no signal so I could not sign in. WHY AUTO-SIGN ANYONE AT ALL?!?!What if they’re actually riding in the wilderness like the derailleur was designed to do?! 2) when I got to signal and signed in, I had to add the components again just like when you first set up the system. WHY THE HECK would they do that?! 3) every time you click on the derailleur in the app it has to download firmware which takes shockingly long. Every.... single.....t....t....time... GET IT TOGETHER SRAM!! Splurge and hire a high school app developer who could solve these issues!!!
I have been an AXS user since the first groups landed years ago. The app may have a few challenges, as an app does, and there are thing I wish it did. The app connects well, update firmware, changes configurations and controls, and it offers suggestions to tire pressure and setup. For 95% of the people riding, this is 5-stars!
I was not optimistic having read the terrible reviews, but was able to set up my AXS rear derailleur (1x) with ease. I was able to update firmware and change shift settings easily and quickly. It would be nice to see battery percentages, but other than that minor grievance, the ap seems to work fine for my group set. Time will tell.
Not sure why the lot rating. Probably not a lot of downloads. I tried it tonight to update the firmware and see what kind of functionality the app contained and everything worked great. Fw update was fast, no issues. Bluetooth pairing also fast with no issues.
I like the app, would be nice to integrate the web app deeper into the native app. The workout history is very fun to look at and learn from. The latest updated has some issue tho with login. I was being asked to log in multiple times and now can’t even do that. Looking forward to see this being fix soon!
The app itself seems to be working fine other than it is constantly logging me out. When connecting to my derailleur, it’s very slow to connect and then trying to make micro adjustments, I sometimes have to quit the app and then reconnect just to get that menu option to be available. I am not sure if that is on the app side of things or the derailleur side.
It’s a shame because Shimano has always been known for terrible software on their Di2 shifters. Looks like SRAM has joined them with their own weak software. As of June 2021, I agree with the early reviewer that getting a wireless phone connection (usually when you need it most) with your wireless components it’s very difficult. You can see the derailer LED blinking that it’s trying to connect, but then an error is presented on the phone screen. The SRAM components cost too much (an understatement) for such constant software issues.
App works good to setup how you want to shift and to check battery life. It does not remember the rear cassette size which screws up the sequential shifting. You should be able to set this up once and the components remember how they were setup. Unless you set the cassette size before every ride the sequential shifting does not shift the front chainring until it starts cross chaining.
This is a frustrating app because it takes forever sometimes to link up to all the components and sometimes it doesn’t even want to do that and then you cannot check your firmware sometimes because it doesn’t completely link up to the component so you can check for firmware update. definitely need some work to make it better.
So my SRAM Force AXS groupset runs the 48/35 rings. This app is convinced I’m always riding in the 35 tooth ring. That needs to get fixed because it’s spitting out gear ratios that are completely false. My Garmin has no problem with this, so it shouldn’t be too much for the very company that makes the groupset to have zero problems as well. Also, it’ll be really nice when everything I do in the app doesn’t take me to my browser. Hope to see some improvements soon.
unfortunately you cannot give a zero rating. the app sees my components in the app. the system says there is a firmware update. it says to activate the primary component and shows the front derailure ( FD). the FD light is in a slow flashing state and the system does not connect or update the firmware. as well if i try to connect to the shifter the app keeps displaying a window saying to activate the device. the lights are flashing and the app des not connect. horrible app and not useful at all.
SRAM AXS app quality is somewhere between alpha and beta. Nothing really works 100%. In latest iteration TyreWiz defaults to Bar and when switching to PSI, app crashes and shuts down. Before the screen would refresh like a broken 50yr old TV. It is amazing that SRAM is ok to damage their otherwise great brand with this poor quality app.
Setting up the GX Eagle shift paddle and derailleur on my Stumpjumper EVO was quick and easy. App allows you to make micro adjustments to the derailleur which I find great. It seems like all of the kinks have been worked out since 2020. No complaints.
***Update - This issue is resolved. Thanks for the quick response by Sram***Trying to update the FW on my Sram Red AXS FD, RD, and shifters. Update appears to be successful, but then app reports old FW again and says update available. There is either an issue with the app itself, or the latest FW. It was successful updating the power meter.
I haven’t had any problems getting this to work, although it’s essential that all firmware be updated. I also couldn’t see the drivetrain settings until I hit “Connect” on the rear derailleur icon. Once I did, I could enable all the cog & shifting settings.
So far I’ve been very happy with the Shifter & Derailleur. Love it!. But the app logs out after a few days. So when you need it in the mountain (no signal) it’s useless, can’t login, can’t adjust anything. Can you please change this? Don’t let the app log out automatically, only user log out.
The app no longer allows me to login. I can login on the web site but not on the app. Completely useless and there is no information available regarding update status or work-arounds. Very disappointed in SRAM. Update This app is perpetually broken. I can’t ever log in. Support told me to change my password and that worked. Until it happened again. I’m sorry, if I have to continue to create a new password every time I want to use it im just not going use it.
So in the drop down list to setup my chainrings doesn’t have the option for SRAM AXS 2X 44/33T even though that’s what I have on my bike. The option for a “Custom” is only 1X, you can’t add 2X The app doesn’t read when I’m in the big chainring at all and SRAM is saying it’s a Garmin issue, even though I have the most up to date version of software in my Garmin.
Nice to have an iPhone interface to manage the shifters. But. Clunky to get set up, if you make a mistake typing in your password there is no starting over. Need a different password. It would be much more useful to indicate battery charge level with percentage values. The icons are too vague.
App only good to configure bike (which is good) but does nothing else other than give you notifications that you can’t turn off. You can try in settings but the settings will reset itself. Recommend just to uninstall once you have everything setup
All I need to do is reverse the polarity on my VERY expensive wireless shifter. I can not even sign up on this app. I mean I don’t know what’s more of a waste of money at this point my college program or this product. I give this unit two stars because unlike FORTIS college this provides a usable product, both equally disregard user standards though. Let me rephrase that, BOTH DISREGARD THE USER.
Since the last update, I cannot get into SETTINGS even though all the components show they are connected. Now, no way to go from sequential to compensating shifting or visa versa. Also, the rear derailleur shows a QUESTION MARK next to it, and clueless what this means. All components including RD have been updated to latest firmware No place to go for help.
It is nice to be able to control the drivetrain by the app, however, enhanced modes are forced on the drivetrain every time the app is used. Additionally, normal shifting is only available when enhanced is turned off rather than an election with the two enhanced modes.
Is it me or did this software become severely crap over the last 6 months? Last time I used the app it seemed to work fine. Now, not so much. Constantly says that I need to wake each of the three components (Derailer, 2x Shifters), easy enough to do, but a few secs later it’s undone. Makes the app practically unusable. Plus, where are all the useful features like the ability to get notifications if ANY of your batteries needs charging? Seriously, what is the point of this app? It doesn’t do it’s core function or anything value added. Sorry to be so negative, but wow SRAM … what a fail!
I just downloaded the app and I’m trying to create an account. Doesn’t matter how complex or simple the password I’m trying to use, it tells me that my passwords don’t match. So, I haven’t even gotten past the first step of installing the app let alone getting to the point where nothing else works like most of the other reviews claim.
The app works when setting up your drivetrain but beyond that it forces you to a sram website. Why isn’t everything contained in the app? Any notification like low battery or ride info is on the website. Seems very half-baked.
App starts up fine and logins in. When I got to connect controller and derailer it never pairs to phone/app. The device will show up to update but won’t fully pair making it so I can not access the features. Makes the whole system less useful without being able to change setting.
It kills me that I can’t microadjust each cog individually, that would be a game changer! What’s the point of having such a fancy piece of hardware if not to give way more functionality than mechanical shifter.
Update erase the ability to make micro adjustments per gear
Disappointed, I was able to micro adjust per gear when I first installed the product and after the first app update this option disappeared. I contacte SRAM and stated this is an option only for e-bikes and for all other bikes will be a coming feature. Don’t understand this at all!
First te user. Everything was find until I didn't ride my bike for 3 months. I was getting ready for next day group ride. Make sure battery is full....etc Some reason my controllers are missing in the app. Configure controls are empty. Try to delete the app, reconnect the components to the app..........etc. still missing
Most recent update has lead to this app being almost unusable. App crashes a lot. Gets stuck while trying to load drivetrain settings. I work in a shop that sells a lot of AXS bikes, and we can barely update and customize them for customers anymore since this app fails so much.
SRAM really blew it with the AXS app with mediocre performance on top of a disappointing Force eTap component groupset. I have lost confidence with SRAM and would not recommend until significant improvements in the AXS app. Simple fix: Make it work like the SRAM Red 22 double tap mechanical groupset. All rear derailleur controls on the right shifter only. Duh... Make the app work in landscape mode on my iPad.
Firmware is shown as up to date (2.17). Odd, been that way for a long time. Ah, but the AXS web app knows that I need an update and shows I need 2.7.3. From other comments here it seems this happens a lot. Simple functions should, I don’t know, work?
Ok, so after massive fiddling (install, reinstall, wake components etc), got things to connect 2x - once the rear derail did an update, then after many tries, I was able to turn on multi shift. But/ far too irritating, manually connecting components etc make this app not ready for prime time. I thought I’d flip open to app to check batts - it’s far easier to just charge everything overnight and not have to deal with this lousy app. Great when it occasionally works, not really worth the time and frustration
App will not open with current account and reset password. Just kicks me back to the opening screen. Signed up under new account and the same thing happened. Just not even a functioning app at this point.
Update from late October 2019, app won’t even load, I get an intro screen then it crashes. I uninstalled, rebooted, still won’t load. Now have no idea how much battery I have left. Hope it makes it.
The UI for this app feels like a marketing team designed it and not an actual UI expert. It has a polished appearance, but actually using this app is garbage. I’d suggest starting over with an all new app. Don’t go cheap on your UI people. If this weren’t essential for configuring SRAM electronic components I’d say don’t bother with this app.
