Where has this been all my life?!
Hi i am Ethan, im 12 and wish to be a scientist when im older. I just got a telescope for my 12th birthday, and i have been strugling trying to find things in the night sky. Today my science teacher showed me an app on her phone because she knows i LOVE science, she reffered to this! Star chart. I thought it was interesting so i told her, "i will definetly download this!!" So i get home and i immedietly run to my phone and search... Star chart. This app is litteraly the ABSOULUTE lifesaver! As im typing this is is 7:35 pm. I looked and mars was above the horizen. So i rushed outside to the deck with my telescope and pointed it, to where i thought Mars would be acourding to this app. Since this is the only time we can see it really good until 2030. This was HUGE, Mars is my first planet i (May) find, i am pretty sure last night i was on the hunt for Jupiter. I seen a bright object that was orange, i used my focus scope to put it in the crosshair, and i sall nothing. I bought a extension that extends the normal vision of a telescope for another 8000 meters. I put it in, so im hoping i can get a good look at mars. If you are reading this and want to be like me... Be like me!!!! This stuff is so interesting, good luck to those who are wanting to find mars, I encourage you!!!! This app gets FIVE STARS!!!!!!!!! Where was this all my life?! 🤣

Absolutely Great!!!!!
This is one of those app's that you know you got your money's worth and a lot more!! It gives you so much information about the heavens above, I really like being able to identify the constellations and the planets and being able to read the information about them, really great stuff. Another nice thing is that you can have it let you know of up and coming celestial events such as meteor shower, it'll let you know the where and when of the event. It'll tell you about planet conjunctions and so much more!!!!!!! If your looking for an app about the sky's this is the one you want, I've showed this app to friends and family and once I have it's not very long or it's right then that they're downloading it to their devices. Get it so you can show off your knowledge of the night sky's. It even shows you what's in the sky on the other side of the Earth!!!!!

Buggy
This used to be one of my favorite apps-- I've memorized just about every (visible) star in the summer sky thanks to it. When I first downloaded it a little over two years ago, looking at the stars quickly became one of my favorite pastimes. The Messier catalogue and all of the extra information on stars, planets, constellations, etc. is pretty expansive, even without the upgrade packages-- there is a TON of information available, all for free. This app is awesome! However, lately (I started noticing it a few months ago), the feature that allows you to point your phone at the sky and see it on your screen has been so buggy it's impossible to use. When I try to do this, the portion of the sky that shows is about 100 degrees off from the real sky, and shows at the wrong angle (the horizon line is almost vertical). The calibration screen will pop up for a split second and then go back to the sky chart before I have a chance to do anything. Those two screens will cycle until I stop it switching back to manual scroll. I really wish this bug would be fixed-- this is the best feature of the app, in my opinion! The app is still great but definitely not as fun without that feature.

Annoying to use
This app has beautiful displays of constellations and stars. The night mode is a nice feature to keep your night vision, with that, the displays go to red on black. For identifying what stars you see in the night sky, I found this app to be difficult to use. First, it could not use my iPad's GPS to identify my exact location, so I had to set that manually, and the closest I could set it was about 50 miles away. You can only set it on population centers, which of course, are not good for star gazing because of the ground light. Second, you point it at a section of sky, and it shows you the stars and constellations in that section of sky, but of course, you have now blocked your view of the sky in that location, so you have to do this up and down movement trying to match what you see on the iPad to what you see in the sky. It does not use your device's camera to actually view stars as Sky View Free does. Finally, the most annoying feature of this app is it is constantly offering you further information and when you click on that offer it says, "You have to upgrade for that information, that will be $9.95". Sky View Free is a better free app for occasional star gazing.

LOUSY FOR COMETS
I paid $9.95 for the comet upgrade, and the last 2 AMAZING comets were not in it!!! also bought The meteor showers upgrade and there are numerous minor meteor showers that aren’t included also. I can look in the newspaper for the Perseids. I was hoping this would go a little deeper, you know? . And the upgrade packs are 10 bucks apiece! SOOO disappointed!!!! The manual says they’re a handful of comets included (Hayley’s, etc.), and newer significant ones will be added as they appear. Wrong. Didn’t happen. What did I pay for? Can I get my $9.95 back for the comet upgrade package please? Display settings are also a little. wonky. if u put the star names on it’s so cluttered it’s hard to see anything, but if you zoom in it’s more useful. But Adding images and adding lines doesn’t seem to have any effect at all. It’s frustrating to use. I thought if I turned everything off except comets, then comets would be really easy to find. But tons of other stuff still appears anyway. It’s one of those apps where you get the feeling they were really excited about it until the money started rolling in and then they just stopped working on it. However, it is great for planets.

A good app, but...
I LOVE this app, and I use it all the time for finding planets, and deep space objects to observe through my telescope. I also appreciate the accuracy of each star location in relation to one another, even down to the 11+ magnitude stars, but I purchased the satellite addition recently, and even though it shows it in the sky with an apparent magnitude in the negatives, surely brighter than most stars, i see absolutely nothing! I don't know what's up, but looking at the iss is the only thing the upgrade's useful for. I also am disappointed that you used the messier catalogue only for deep space objects, because now all deep space objects in the south aren't listed, even the carina nebula! I hope that these bright southern DSO's can be added, and perhaps the new general catalogue. Other than that, this app is great and I spend hours on it star hopping to find the next galaxy!

Star Chart
Star Chart is a great application to have for those interested in astronomy and the mysteries of the universe whether in its free or premium form. While the premium version gives users access to just about every observable part of our universe including planets, constellations and our extended solar system the free version is still worthwhile. Users can use the free version to observe the constellations in our sky and the imagery and visuals presented are top notch high quality. Users can also view and read data regarding the planets in our solar system, the moon and more. Navigation within the app is easy and users can move, tap and pull the device and screen being used to look around the sky, solar system of whatever is being looked at or focused upon. While serious astronomy lovers will want the fully loaded version for those with more of a casual interest in the heavenly bodies above us the free version will do.

I absolute love it. But
This app is such a help to me its unbelievable. I am an astronomer and I have a nice telescope that I use mostly in the summer but sometimes in the winter. I strap my phone onto my telescope and I use it to locate nebulas, planets, and even a few comets. It's been amazing. I have bought two upgrades. Meteor showers and comets. They both work perfectly. I might buy the mesires upgrade as well but if I do it will be the last one I buy. The only complaint I have is that I think the upgrades are a little over priced. I mean they work but it's an app and that's a lot of commitment for an app. That is the only thing I thine is wrong with the app. If you do have problems delete the app, restart your iPhone and then download it again. If you bought any upgrades you can re download them for free. Five stars from me!!

Great 👍
It’s a cool app but definitely could be better I live in a big city and so all the lights from the city kind of block out The stars and what not but I went on vacation somewhere quite far away from the big cities in the night sky just lit up it was amazing but I never brought my telescope out there to look at everything yeah I’m not blaming the app for what happens in the city but I hope everyone understands and yeah. Anyways enough about me so the app has a bunch of cool planets and stuff it helped me find Jupiter Mars Venus and the other planets. And when the moon was out it was just extremely spectacular but I don’t need this app to find the moon. Does anyone know how annoying Siri is? Anyways it’s a nice app but I wish I was just in a better place where I could see everything I guess that’s the whole point of this review just a wish. And nice graphics too

You'll feel like a child again
Not everyone can afford a telescope or visit the planetarium. Every night I get to wish on a star and know it's name. I learn the constellations just by having fun looking around the Galaxy. It truly is amazing. Now try to convince me their is no God. This app will show you the shooting stars, constellations, meteors, comets, satellites, and each planet up close and stunningly vivid. With descriptions of each planet, the coordinates for your telescope, all their moons, what constellation they inhabit, their orbital period (it takes Saturn 29 yrs 166 days for our 1 year to go around the sun) and their rotation period (Saturn takes 10 hrs 19 mins to our 24 hrs). Your going to feel like a kid and love learning all about astronomy while your at it. Besides, learning should be fun, right?!

Outstanding!! I have been using this for over 5 years
This App is a great tool for everyone to have. Show and teach your children and others the constellations and also impress others with your knowledge of the stars. I learned all of the constellations with this app and my girlfriend at the time whom is my wife now, used to say that that she was amazed at my knowledge of the sky and stars. She was so amazed at my knowledge that she eventually fell in love with me and told me later that one of the reasons is because not many people can show and explain the stars anymore and it she felt like she did when she was a little girl and her granddaddy would show her. Thank you Starchart*********

Not working/working now
What’s with the app? It’s always been my go to app to look for planets etc and last night I thought to add the comet opt but when I loaded my app all I got was a flashing star in the middle of the screen with overlapping words going downward from the flashing light. The menu works well but not the actual ‘sky’. I tried calibrating it as suggested but still nothing. I uninstalled and reinstalled and the same thing happens. It would have been a 5 star had it not been for this. Update: I figured out my new case had a magnet that was causing my display to be out of whack. Once I removed it, my ‘sky’ was back. Yay! Still I’m disappointed to read that the comet Neowise is not on the the comet app. Will it be added before the comet disappears? 4 stars for now

Love this app
I know my winter constellations but I’m still working on summer and late autumn, and I’m out of practice. When I take the dogs out at night I pull out Star Chart to answer “What is that bright object?” A 5th (rating) star will be earned when the Augmented Reality mode (point it at the sky and it’ll show you what you’re looking at) tracks a little closer. Though upon reading the User Manual, I learn that this could simply be the best this older phone can do. (I have an iPhone SE.). It’s only a little off, but enough that I usually have to sight off a known object to match screen and sky. That said, the app is beautiful, versatile, inexpensive (go ahead, buy the upgrades you want, they’re really not that expensive), and has among the best User Manuals I’ve seen in an app. Bravo.

This app makes my morning, EVERY morning!
I work for a job that has me leave before the sunrise, and each morning I see stars that I didn’t know the names of. started using StarChart regularly and I have become more familiar with the night sky than ever before. It enriches my entire day—I find myself talking with my coworkers about how I’ve seen Jupiter, Saturn, Venus AND Mars all in the same sky that morning! I love that you can point your phone anywhere in the sky and it shows you like a window to the universe, even below the horizon. Sometimes indoors I’ll open it, just to remember that I’m on a planet and a enormous universe.

I love this app!!!!
Seriously one of my favorite apps. I’ve had it for years now and I have enjoyed it so much. It’s helped me learn the positions of the planets so I can recognize them in the sky on my own and just last week my boyfriend and I were in Joshua Tree and looking at the night sky, and we saw this star that had a BEAM OF LIGHT coming from it like a distant spotlight. We were sooo amazed and wanted to know what it was immediately so I grabbed my phone and we learned that it was Tania Borealis so I looked it up and it’s a star that is THREE TIMES BIGGER THAN OUR OWN SUN. Incredible. Try to find it for yourself at night if you’re somewhere where you can actually see the stars.

Perfect for finding planets and stars
I’ve had this for a while now and love how easy it is to find the planets and stars in the night sky. If using your phone all you have to do is hold your phone up and you can see the stars or planets matching what’s on your phone, one of the simplest apps to use for night watching of the skies. You can even see satellite’s and the time they pass over your location the app has the flight times of the International space station and you can see it when it passes over. All N’ all it’s perfect for viewing the night skies

A bit bugged out
I used this app constantly. I loved to go outside and finally figure out what stars and constellations I was looking at. I guess I used it so often that it kind of broke? It may just be a bug, and there may be a way to calibrate it, but I can't figure it out. When the compass pops up to re-calibrate, it disappears immediately. The map is off track (moon as a reference, it isn't in the right position when I hold up my phone, and neither are the rest of the stars). I don't want to have to go through the trouble of downloading the app again just to get it to work. Must be a bug? Please fix!! If the app were easier to navigate and if there was an easy way to calibrate it, I would give it five stars. Loved the app otherwise, though,

The Best Astronomy App...and Free!
I can't believe this fantastic app is free! It does everything I want in a star chart and has the basic function of labelling Messier Objects which makes it useful for using my telescope. Other Pay apps like Star Walk have a very glossy interface but no option to show Messier objects on the main chart...making it near useless. This app is simple, clean, and highly usable. It even has night mode and can move in conjunction to where you point it at the sky. I commend the developers for making an excellent app that does everything right!

Cool
This app is so cool, it has a lot of amazing features and you can go outside and look at the stars and learn all about them. You can lean about the starts and all the planets as well and look at them, you can see when the sun sets and rises and you can see the distance from any planet from the sun. There are lots of constellations to see and find on your own. It is a little confusing to work but after a little while of clicking around you will get the hang of it. I highly recommend this app if you are into stars and planets. There could be some improvements on the controls so you know what you are doing but besides that it is really cool!!

Please help
No way to contact developer about this but - the app was better before I purchased. I could see everything, the constellations and beautiful images behind them. I was in love. So I purchased thinking I was supporting the developer and it could only get better. Well it seems that the app has been degraded since the purchase. I no longer see the beautiful images. The version after purchase is much worse. I’m thinking it’s somehow a glitch and the beautiful version is available for free. Please help - I wish I could remove my purchase and go back to the original version =\ was so in love now I’m sad each time I open.

Interesting app
I've had this app for awhile but never used it much; I got it b/c a Facebook friend who's into astronomy frequently referenced it. Recently I (somehow) enabled notifications which, combined with this year's Pluto coverage, has led me to open the app much more often. I really like all the reference information and am learning a lot - the universe has changed considerably since my school days back in the Dark Ages. 🙂 However, I too, could use more & better instructions. Right now I'm more interested in reading the text than using it to look at the night sky, but I keep getting lost while trying to navigate the app. With better instructions, I would gladly give the app a higher rating.

Amazingly good
One improvement needed: if the constellation illustrations in this app were fainter, less dominant and didn't tend to block out the stars of the constellation, then identification of the actual stars in the sky would be easier. However, I've tried several similar apps, and this one definitely is superior& most closely approximates the location of the stars, and the search tool is excellent. Only thing is it tends to get stuck in search. If I search for a star and find it, then try to go back to the homepage, it often shuts down.

Ethan, you’ll be the best scientist!
I’m sure I’m going to love this app, but I wanted to give a 5 star review of Ethan’s comment. I saw a post on a FB group about the planets in the sky tonight, and stumbled upon his review of this app while searching for a constellation app. This is the most pure and heartwarming thing I’ve seen in a long time. Ethan, if you see this, keep reaching for the stars (pun intended). I’m so glad you've found something that has brought you joy in such a challenging time. I can feel the enthusiasm and love you have for the universe, and I hope you become the next Neil Tyson Degrasse.

Best Free App For the Stars!
I knew nothing about the stars but when I came across this app I said to myself "Why Not Give It A Try." Believe me, it turned my knowledge of the dark night into a bright opening of the Stars! I use this app almost nightly! And when the night sky has no clouds a whole new experience of the night sky opens up, thanks to this app! I've told all my friends about this app and they all agree it gave them a new view of the night sky! It can do the same for you too. Give this app a try. It is a five star app!

Good app but too many upgrades that require payment
I love the help finding consolations and the fact that it has an astronomical calendar saying when meteor showers are is amazing! Just saying I could pay $5-10 for the app not to have to deal with the upgrades such as where to look for meteor showers and comets which are 2 separate upgrades one if not both cost $4.99. Still overall love the app and I haven’t had any major bugs so that’s nice and remarkably no ads so I really do understand the creators trying to make some money through upgrades but wish they would do it in the overall purchase.🤩☄️💫✨🌌

It actually works!
This app is awesome.I think I’ve been using it for almost 10 years now? Not that often, but when I am curious about a certain star, like I am right now, because I randomly woke up at five in the morning and I’m wondering what that morning star is, bingo, this app tells me what it is! There was that one time when it glitched out, maybe because my phone was so old (iPhone6s), but it doesn’t seem to be having any problems now with the new phone (13pro). Solid!

Awesome app
I have been doing amateur astronomy for over 45 years and I wish I would have had this app back in the day. Any level of observer can use this app. You just point your iPad or phone up to the sky and the app shows you what your looking at in a very realistic way. The screen can be customized in so many ways and you can access whatever level of data you would like. You can even see the Space station or Hubble. I love astronomy and this app is a great way to enjoy the sky and learn at the same time.

Learning to chart the stars with this app!!! 🪐✨🌌
I wanted to learn the constellations and read the night sky, but I didn’t know where to start. There are so many books about the subject, but all of the maps are so complicated and unnecessarily confusing. This app is literally so amazing!! It makes it super easy to find and identify the constellations without all the complicated stuff!!! I one hundred percent recommend this app to anyone who loves astronomy and anyone who wants to learn the constellations

More locations!!!
So I'm a nerd interested in constellations and I thought this app would be great to help me learn the stars’ patterns. I live in a state that is almost unknown, and in that state, I live on a teeny tiny neighborhood. I wasn't aiming for my neighborhood in particular, but somewhere close to it, like Fayetteville or even Charleston. But no. There wasn't a single city in my state listed on the app, which sort of ticked me off. We may be unknown to literally everyone, but every other state will be thanking us heat-packing rednecks for fighting for our second amendment. I really hope this app is still in progress. If you don't live somewhere world famous like Washington or Los Angeles, seriously don't get this app. Good graphics tho.

Awe-inspiring
It too a little time to fully figure out how best to use this, and perhaps I should have read or watched something, but now I feel so comfortable after a few uses. I really enjoy seeing a star in the night sky and very quickly and confidently be able to identify it. I also enjoy being able to look for a planet that I know will be visible and determine where I’ll have to look to find it. I love the UI and the ability to scan the skies in real time as the display scrolls along with me.

Really, really great
I don't write reviews for apps. But I've used this app for so long, and it's so good, that I felt it deserved one. My favorite things: It has SO MUCH information on it. Anything you could possibly be looking for is there. Even when I'm not stargazing, I use it to find moon/planet rise/set times. And it doesn't need wifi or service! This is especially nice since it's not uncommon for a good stargazing spot to have terrible service. I haven't found a star chart app I like as much as this one, and this one is FREE. Get it. It's great.

Really cool but a couple problems
This app is really cool! I just got it last night to make sure the planet I saw in the sky was Venus. After clicking around on the app I purchased 2 add ons. One was the satellite add on and the other was the comet add on. Despite having proper internet, the satellite add on keeps saying “incomplete download detected” no matter how much I try to restore it. The comet add on(which I bought at the same time) got added successfully in no time at all. I wish the satellite add on would download or I could get a refund on it, it was quite expensive really but that’s the only issue I’m having. Overall it’s a good and educational app.

Great app with some quirks
I love this app and use it to inspect the sky before using my telescopes. Its very smooth and I like the experience of moving the sky around and dragging time forward so easily. The visual effects are very beautiful as well. Some areas that need improvement are the clutter of constellation s and stars should be something I can dial down or up based on visibility. Second it should be easier to confirm location. Third the search experience needs some way to super or categorize results by visibility. These features would make this app perfect.

This app is so crazy!!
It does such cool stuff. Love holding it up to the sky and reading off the constellations and planets and stars. My favorite might be the way you can select a planet or star, tap it twice and you get a little platform thin in the lower right. Tap it and the planet or star comes hurtling at you until it’s close up. You can see the geysers of fire on the sun, the dark spots on the moon. I so love this app. Lastly it lets me know what this day in astronomical history it is! So cool!!

App needs an update
I really like Star Chart. I actually purchased all of the additional expansions in the app. Sadly, I have never been able to see any of the satellites. I’m super pumped that I spent $5 on that. 🤨 I attempted to report a quality issue, but the App Store doesn’t show a purchase history for me to be able to do so. If this app actually showed me the things I paid to see, and got updated more than once every 7 years or so (those satellites I want to see? There’s a ton more out there in the last YEAR, let alone 7!), it would certainly be a 5 star rating.

Get a different app
I’ve tried three or four different free stargazing apps and this one is probably the worst. The biggest problem is that it insists on giving Arabic names for most stars even though it says it uses the main language you use on your phone—I don’t even have Arabic downloaded to my phone. But it also seems to miss things altogether—the other day I was 90 percent sure I was looking at Venus (which is huge) and it didn’t even show up. It doesn’t acknowledge several smaller constellations. I’ve never seen it acknowledge a meteor shower. It basically contributes nothing to my life. Oh I guess it helped me get better at recognizing Saturn—that’s one it usually gets right.

Super Educational!
This app is really cool! It shows the planets and stars, it also gives information about what constellation the planets and stars are in. It says how far away the star or planet is from where you are at. For the planets, it lists what and how many moons there are. It gives a lot of info about some of the plant's size, rotation, temperature, gravity, etc. It also shows you some Messiers. Shows you the outline of the constalations. It is super educational and good for learning more about space itself.

Been using this app for a while
This app was recommended to me by me middle school Astronomy teacher 7 years ago. I don’t use this app as often, but it’s fun to pull out with friends occasionally at night and find a few constellations. The app is really easy to use and understand. The AR function that rotates the sky as you rotate your phone is pretty accurate. I wouldn’t say it has the most diverse catalog of constellations, but for casual use it’s great.

The BEST one out there!
I first downloaded the free version and came to realize I needed the paid version. I had tried other free star apps before, but this is definitely the best one out there! My only problem is it gets "stuck" and for the life of me I cannot figure out how to recalibrate it. So I have to close the program and reopen it. Also be aware this app will EAT YOUR BATTERY so make sure you have a back up (or three) if you plan on using it for more than 30 minutes (but I am also using an old iPhone 4S). Love this app.

Still works pretty spot on for me, a few ticks and twitches, but at least they haven't rewritten and ruined what works so well with it (that so many other apps do in their misguided rush for... change). It would be nice to see an update, nothing more than bug fixes would be encouraging to those of us that kicked in a few bucks because we appreciate the app... Definitely worth the price of admission, especially if it guarantees longevity.

Useful and pretty!
Take it from an astronomer, this is a highly functional tool you can use at the observing site in place of other media. The night eyes preservation mode is great, and the search and trac functions are wonderful. There are even little animated tours thrown in for fun. The graphical representations are accurate enough to get an understanding of scale, and they look great too! Very nice tool for finding objects and exploring the sky (above or below the horizon). Highly, highly recommended. .99? Uhh... yes please!

Deceptive practices
I use this app on a weekly basis and have for a few years. It has been a great tool to teach myself, my family and neighborhood kids. Tonight, I felt as if I was taken to the bank. I was trying to locate the comet NEOWISE. I see the upgraded option for locating comets at $2.99 and thought it would be a great help. Unless I failed to read the fine print, if there was any, I assumed it would be able to locate the visible comet that has been in the news for the last few weeks. Went to search option and discovered it only locates comets that have been pre-selected, NEOWISE was not one of them. Huge disappointment from an app that I have really enjoyed using for a very long time.

I stumbled upon this app completely on accident. I was Googling star charts to see if there were any I could print out and hang on my walls, but the search engine brought me to this delightful, helpful tool instead. I'm very pleased with all the available information, and even more satisfied with the mere simplicity of the app. I've already recommended Star Charts to a few of my colleagues, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone else.

It would be great if it would ever calibrate properly
This has a lot of features that look really neat. However, the basic function—showing you the names of the stars you’re currently looking at—never works. I can never get the app to calibrate properly to the direction I’m pointing in. I will point my phone right at the Moon, for example, and the app says it’s something else, and the Moon is on a completely different part of the sky. It makes identifying stars impossible. I want to like this app, but I can’t use it. 😞

Star Chart
Star Chart is our go-to app whenever we are stargazing at Cherry Springs State Park in Pennsylvania, at the lake in Maine, or the beach in Florida. Finding our orientation to the horizon and the elliptical plane could not be easier. Finding various constellations, individual stars of interest, the Sun, Moon and each of the planets is made so simple. We especially like the way the magnitude of stars and planets including conjunction of planets are displayed. Thank you for a GREAT app.

Star chart upgrades
I love the app, however, I paid for the satellite upgrade. Never got it. Instructions for this problem says to “re-install app” by hitting the blue “re-install” button. Previous upgrade purchases will be remembered and won’t be charged for again. After trying that unsuccessfully several times. I deleted the app and re-installed it. It apparently didn’t remember my upgrade purchase. So much for me trusting the app with upgrade purchases.

Really Handy. Really Old!
I’ve enjoyed Star Chart for years — occasionally pulling it up on my phone, when gazing at the night sky. I was pretty sure it was the best app for star gazers. …but as I contemplated buying in-place upgrades or switching to it’s paid cousin, “Star Chart Infinite,” I was dismayed to find that Escape Velocity hadn’t updated the app in at least 5 years — this missing NEOWIN and likely other space artifacts. I guess I’ll hunt for a newer replacement whose developer keeps it current!

Would be 5 stars but
The add-ons are so expensive! They'd make more money if they were $5 or even 99¢. Come on...we explorers, we scientists are poor folk living in an economy not suited for frivolous expenditures. Let's share our knowledge without cost. Who knows, had the in app purchases been less expensive, a poor person like myself could have afforded the cost of the feature that would have aided them in the discovery of the 9th planet in our solar system...or possibly our next home planet in a far off Galaxy. I guess mankind is doomed. Otherwise - amazing app!

Mostly good
As a star chart, it is pretty good. The red night vision mode is a nice feature. Where it gets annoying, however, is with its strange use of notifications. The purpose of the app is to find stuff in the sky, so I would expect the notifications to be used for that purpose. For example, I would like to get notifications of upcoming meteor showers and bright satellites like iridium flares or the ISS. I find the "this day in history" notifications it has instead to be thoroughly useless and annoying.
