Great local news. I’m a print subscriber, and while it’s nice to get the paper in hand, the news is usually a couple of days old by that point, so it’s good to have the TNT app to read local news as it happens. It’s a shame though that they no longer push any notifications on the app. To get breaking local news I have to rely on the Seattle Times app, which does notifications.
TNT hates senior citizens. Not all seniors have technology skills and they are cutting back on our paper news to satisfy people who stare at their devices all the time. We are a huge number and being pushed aside like we don’t mean anything to society that wants to force people into only using technology. Technology has gotten out of control example the damage drones can do and it’s only a matter of time before we will be afraid to leave our homes. So ignore the seniors you will probably totally fold before long so TNT employees better start looking for new jobs technology will replace even you.
I do not like this app at all, jumps all over and makes it difficult to read the whole story. It is also hard to make the font larger and get the whole article you are trying to read.
This latest update is so bad it won’t let me even sign in on my iPad. I saved the correct name and password but I still cannot open the app. I also have the printed paper delivered thank goodness but even when I put my address in I cannot get the eEdition. Now there is no Saturday paper I have to rely on the electronic version. Are you trying to get rid of customers? I guess I will have to call to get my app. working again. I am old and I kid you not my time is getting shorter and I don’t want to waste it trying to get the newspaper. You charge enough for a few sheets of paper.
I normally would not rate an app based on the companies customer service…But in this case, the two are so intertwined that it’s difficult not to. The McClatchy Company owns the Tacoma News Tribune and many other newspapers. Their customer service is outsourced. And pretty useless. So…If you need help with your subscription, good luck! They are very eager to up sell services but fail at fixing existing issues. It really is sad because I’m trying to help a local paper but their mega owner doesn’t seem to care.
The app won't update to the new date upon opening and the navigation is sketchy, at best. I click on an article under an embedded 30 second video and nothing happens. Where is the article? The app looks nothing like a newspaper and apparently TNT doesn't allow us to download the other app by Olive Software that emulates the paper, worked perfectly, downloaded each day upon opening and didn't have the annoying and distracting ads, sales videos and banners. Terrible app and news service!
After they revamped the entire app it’s been nothing but problematic. The videos rarely play on my iPad and the app itself randomly and frequently shuts down. The only way to get it to work somewhat properly is to reset my iPad. Before the upgrade there were few if any problems. The only thing that seems to actually work is reading the published paper edition.
The app and webpage say that you click this link to put a hold on your subscription, but it just takes you around in circles. I did the free trial but didn’t manage ti cancel it because I kept getting distracted before I was able to figure out that I probably just needed to email “customer service.” Email sent, never subscribing to this again. Update: email sent—microsoft—paraphrased —“after multiple attempts the inbox won’t accept your message”.
I’ve had this app for years and check daily for any new articles. I’ve been extremely busy the last couple of weeks and haven’t been able to go on and read up. I read a couple articles last night before bed, and just went on here to catch up some more and it says I’ve used all of my free articles for the month?? Since when did I have to pay? And for reading more that 3 articles a month?? No wonder TNT is out of here now. Management failure at its best...
I cannot sign onto the account. This is happened over and over and over again for the last few years. I try reloading the app from the App Store and sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. At best it’s a local newspaper and that’s the reason why I want to access it. Most of the news and sports is at least one day old and sometimes two days old. I am sitting here once again trying to sign on my iPad. It’s an impossible interface to work with.
I particularly love TNT's high school sports coverage. Best of any newspaper on the state with their all-state teams and All-Area teams. Awesome feature stories and profiles on local athletes and they do highlight videos from games. I'm always looking for their Northwest Nuggets recruiting package, Western 100 and the Untouchables wrestling team.
We used to be able to receive in format of newspaper, which we both prefer. The e-edition was also available and now we can’t find it. Like format as newspaper plus being able to highlight specific articles and then increase font size on article and print a few out, like recipes. None of this works for us now. The Seattle Times app works great. This one is awful in comparison.
The app works ok but I sure wish they would just report the news instead of subjecting us to their far left, pro Dimslee, pro Ferguson, and anti gun/second amendment nonsense constantly. It’s very tiring. I also am about to pull the plug on this liberal mouthpiece for a the worst governor this state has ever seen. The TNT’s filtering of what we read is very close to being “fake news” in my opinion. This is why they are about to go under.
The latest update has ruined the experience for me. The user interface makes the e edition too small. There is no longer an option to make it fit the screen. The previous versions were far better. This one is not worth the high price of the subscription.
Before this ‘new’ app, the TNT was published digitally via an Olive Software app. It worked almost flawlessly for years. Now, I cannot get the downloaded digital version to stay put as a web page. It regularly crashes and forces me to reload. Maybe with McClatchy losing ownership of the TNT and other papers someone will listen and provide a more stable reading app that is more indicative of 21st Century technology.
I stopped using this app after I can’t figure out how to download the paper for offline use to read on the airplane. I will cancel my subscription and only read the Seattle Times. Why on earth would you think it’s better to have to open up the browser to read the paper; why wouldn’t I just use a search engine. Sad.
TNT app v6.0.6 is incompatible with iOS v8.1.2 on iPhone 6 Plus - after upgrading this morning it immediately quits when I try to open it. The upgrade comments say it's compatible with iOS 8+, it is not. Apparently "compatible with iOS 8+" really means iOS 9 or iOS 8.5. Shoddy beta testing & documentation - how hard is that to do responsibly. Functioned at 3-4 stars in past, now a zero.
For some reason, this app has been glitching out on me for a week or so. I tried crashing the app, then deleting the app and adding it again, restarting my phone, nothing works. I’m a TNT subscriber too. This is quite frustrating.
You are most often reporting news a day late. I see no reason for this since you are providing an online paper. Since you are on facebook, why not allow the community to discuss the articles that you display?
This version will not stay down loaded for reading later when WiFi May not be available. Also far too many steps to download for comfortable reading on an iPad. Extremely frustrating!
Very difficult to navigate on my iPad. Slow to open pages and bring into focus. Difficult to navigate pages after enlarging to read. Much prefer the previous app.
Even after the developers suggestion of clearing the cache, deleting and reinstalling, this app doesn’t load stories. The only thing that happens on the screen is the “processing” circle. The update has broken this app. Very disappointing.
Your newspaper business is terrible. 3 Sunday in a row no newspaper. To use this app I had to go to customer service. I am always told I would be credited. I never received any email about the credit. I am filling a complaint with the Better Business Bureau tomorrow on Monday against your newspaper for terrible customer service.
Maybe it’s just me but I can’t find a way to search on the app. I’ll see an article on social media that I want to read and can’t because of the paywall. So I go to the app and can’t find the story. Frustrating.
I won’t pay for this app. And I won’t pay for delivery that has always been hit and miss. I’ll read it for free at the bar. The tribune has gotten smaller and smaller and more and more expensive. Not worth the money anymore. It was pretty decent for many years but not any longer.
What you had was not broken. What a mess!!!!!! I will be removing myself from all tribune editions and getting my news from other sources unless you can make E paper like an E edition as advertise on all devices without all the pop up adds I just want to read paper as if it is on my table.
With this update, I can not read the app. It is time to find a new local news source. I use voiceover on the iphone, voiceover reads the screen, but tnt did not think of voiceover users with this update.
I used the title of a previous rating because I agree totally with what he says. I am using this app only because for the third time this week, l did not get my newspaper. I opened this app this morning and found only yesterdays and previous days news Dan Orr
This used to be a good app but now every time you try to read an article it closes and goes back to the main page. Please fix this or I will probably just uninstall it.
You cannot even correct your keying mistakes without losing the entire message. Just give me my e-edition like I like it. I’ll end my subscription entirely if I have to endure this miserable app. On what planet did someone think this was a good idea?
I spent $130 on the app for a year’s subscription, only to find that I don’t have any other access beyond the app. My paper doesn’t even have a record of my subscription! So where did my money go?
The TNT web site and phone app are absolutely the worst functioning I have ever unfortunately encountered. Not only is the paper itself dwindling down to a “news letter” the customer service is nonexistent. I’m about to pull the plug on this pathetic organization.
Not worth the frustration. If I could give it a minus rating I would. It's impossible to read the paper comfortably. Too shrunken. The app especially for the iPad eEdition and iOS on the paper’s website so far is working much better than this chaotic disaster.
All I want is to have a full size replica of the print newspaper. I read the Seattle Times, The NY Times, and the Washington Post every day in addition to the TNT. I want a full size replica on my IPAD not a 1/4 size one that I cannot figure out how to expand. Unhappy reader
New articles are few and between, and when they do update, they are pretty poor anyway. If it wasn’t for the sports section it would be a waste of time.
They fail to deliver the paper so often that I consider it unreliable. Now they screw up the online paper by trying to do too much. They are going backwards for sure.
If i could....and you want me to actually PAY for your cutrate crap website that is rarely updated more than once per day? Yeah good luck with keeping it afloat with "subscribers".
