App doesn’t work/Worried they won’t be around 4 long
It’s suuuuch a pain to get my food delivered from Thistle because the app won’t work- but I’ll be determined so I’ll open my email, then search for their last email to me, then open it and click through the link in it to finally get to my account where I can then look through the website to take care of my deliveries. It’s barely worth it right now. PS. since the rebranding was in conjunction with the order process worsening I wonder if it will be around for much longer :/
I’m in LOVE with Thistle!! The meals I’ve got have been so delicious, filling, and just my taste. I now have the gift of time back in my day and peace of mind knowing that I’m getting a healthy, sustainable meal for every work day. The plans are super customizable. And their support team is always so responsive and helpful. I’ve had to reach out twice for minor things and always have my issue resolved within 5 minutes. The meals are reasonably priced, especially if you factor in the time it would normally take to shop, make a meal, and clean up. (Freelancers, contractors, and other hourly workers I’m looking at you!) Highly recommend!
One star review for this service - the food is quite good and nicely heavy on veggies, but their service is straight horrible and they didn’t deliver our food this last and now final week, and even before that were delivering the week’s food sometimes after 11 PM on delivery day! I’m not staying up waiting on my food delivery for the week, that’s absurd. Then, we paid for this week’s delivery and it didn’t show, with an email @ 9:30pm saying food delayed 24 hrs. Then, food didn’t show the next 24 hours with no update at all. The THIRD day, we got an update at 5:30am that food was on its way and would be here in 29 minutes and guess what….didn’t come. No more updates, not answering phone, still no food. A freaking joke.
It’s not really an app, it’s more of a mobile site - which eventually takes you back to the main website and requires logging in again if you click around enough. It also doesn’t have as much functional ease as the website, which means I’m often just contacting customer support to take care of my needs. The good news is, their support team is excellent, sweet and highly responsive - and the food is delicious. Large portions as well… even on the veggie lunch choices I’m often full before finishing the portion. I got a friend of mine hooked now as well.
Can’t login to app if you created your account via Google login
My rating is purely for the mobile app. I’ve been getting Thistle for about 9 months now. I created my account on the website using Google account authentication. At the time, the mobile app lacked the ability to login using a Google account, so I literally couldn’t use it. 9 months later, this is still the case. I often forget to customize which meals I’m getting, and I’m not always a fan of the automatic choices. Would like to be able to use the app to make this process easier, so I’m more likely to get meals I like and continue subscribing.
I think many people have said that the service is just downright terrible. They are constantly missing meals. I think if you just have a lot of money laying around and you just wanna have some extra food in your fridge that is relatively healthy and decent tasting then this might be for you. However if you want any sort of reliability, then find something else. I won’t give it one star because like I said the food is actually decent.
I acknowledge that the app isn’t perfect, but the food is so good, environmentally sustainable, and accessible that I believe anything less than 5 stars would be unfair. Please don’t let the app reviews dissuade you from using Thistle. The planet needs services like Thistle to provide comfort to those exploring tasty plant-based diets. Without Thistle, my busy work schedule would have made switching to a vegan diet stressful and impractical. To those already on a healthy, climate friendly diet, it likely seems obvious that my energy levels would improve significantly. If you’re like me and wary of getting ample nutrition when reducing dairy/animal use, try it! It’s a lot of chewing, but your body and mind will feel incredible.
Love the food! As some one with a gluten and dairy allergy I love saving time and stress looking for healthy meals that fit my dietary needs. I wanted to leave feedback for some of this weeks delicious meals, but it seems the app needs to be fixed. After I sign in it shows my upcoming deliveries. If I tap anything at the bottom (my account, feedback etc) it just prompts me to sign in again. If I sign it again it takes me back to upcoming deliveries so I am stuck in a loop.
Should be one star but it is sorta functional. The app is not sized correctly for all screens which makes it hard to click on edge icons. If you change your password you will not be able to use any tab except the upcoming deliveries because it will constantly ask you to login and send you to that page. Stick with the website as the mobile app will only make you frustrated.
Really difficult to use. It needs to be formatted for an iPhone screen. I have the latest model iPhone in the larger size and everything in this app is so difficult to read and very squished. Pretty much impossible to use for meal planning. I have to my computer and use the website to make sure I can see what I’m doing.
App is fine, food is delicious, but delivery has gotten completely unreliable
I’ve had six failed or extremely delayed deliveries (around or after midnight) in the past two months. Would not recommend this service unless you want to stay up all night wondering whether your food is going to arrive, only to then have to rush order replacement groceries. Otherwise the app is fine, and the food is delicious. Good luck actually receiving the food though.
App offers convenient management of everything…. Except cancellation of your plan. There’s no reason to not have this option and No where on the app does it actually say you need to use a web browser or computer to cancel and the rep made it seem like adding this to the app was some inconceivable feat of coding. I like the service but this is deceptive and a poor way to treat customers, especially those who may return again in the future.
This app hasn’t been optimized for iPhone or at least the ones without the home buttons. This is exactly why it’s cut out of all the screenshots for the App Store here. All the navigation items on the bottom of the screen are cut off and really hard to press without swiping out of the app. All the top of the app is cut off by the dynamic island. Hands down I go and use the website for anything. This app isn’t functional.
Hi Thistle dev team, I love that you’ve added visibility to my/our ratings for meals in the app! But I really miss seeing others ratings on meals I haven’t tried yet. Any chance you could bring that back? Yes, I want to both ways. 😄
Please tech team, go order “Hello Fresh” just to see how great their website is. I am about to quit Thistle because there is so little control over what I can order. I can’t even order two same extra dinners so my husband and I can have dinner together. I would purchase more - but there is very little control on the customers side. Thistle tells me what I am getting - and I can not cancel or change. I HATE your website. Hate it!
Unfortunate that the app is bringing down the whole thistle experience and potentially turning away future customers when they don’t bother to read reviews because they are for the app not the food
The only reason my partner and I were able to go vegan while still getting all the nutrients we need! Plus there are so many delicious options. Will always recommend!!
The food is mostly good, but the delivery service is terrible. Meals often get mixed up or left out. There’s supposed to be a three hour delivery window, but they often deliver way outside that window and I’ve even had them leave my food outside on the street despite marking the instruction not to leave the food unattended. I’m going to discontinue using the service because it’s so much more hassle than it’s worth.
Literally so many functions in this app do not work. I click the top left gift button to refer a friend and the whole app closes. Things take forever to load. They really need to work on this as it makes it more accessible. I don’t wanna have to use my laptop all the time.
The app was always buggy. I paused deliveries for a few months and now after redownloading, I keep getting redirected to different pages when trying to re-activate my subscription…. I’m trying to rejoin and can’t through the app! Navigation buttons at the top are placed at the edge of the phone screen for it not to work. Frustrating and unfortunate as their food is so good.
I’d give 5 stars for the food, but I can only give 3 stars for the app UI. The buttons are falling off the screen which makes them difficult to press. Navigating the menu frequently sends you back to the main page where you have to restart.
I wanted to try this out despite all of the negative reviews of the app, and I couldn’t make it past the “select a plan” stage of the sign up. The page just keeps refreshing when you select your desired plan. Bummer they’re losing customers for not addressing their very clear app issues — I was willing to pay for the most expensive plan if it was good. Back to Blue Apron I go…
I’ve never had any major problems with the app and their food is excellent. I can only speak for the San Diego area since there are multiple delivery locations but A+ in my book.
I REALLY wish I wouldn't have to go to my computer to manage my Thistle deliveries. However, I "signed up with Google" on the website, and now I have to use the "log in with Google" feature to log in. Except the app doesn't have this function. So I can't even log in within the app. Very frustrating.
The portions are really nice, great taste and filling. Truly the worst app I’ve ever downloaded in my life, it would be great in all other regards. Customer service was also very quick to respond and helpful.
This is one of the buggier app experiences. You can't do much of anything without getting logged out, and it doesn't persist credentials between app sessions. Annoying enough that I probably won't use the service anymore - can't make quick changes, etc without moving over to web.
The app doesn’t load some pages and the font is so big it overlaps surrounding text making it unreadable. Overall meal quality and customer service tanked in spring of 2021. I’ve been a customer for years and sad to see a product go from gourmet to gas station level quality.
Seriously, this app looks like it was built by a high school class. Nothing works properly, and all of the menu buttons are barely visible. You can get a higher quality app built for a couple thousand dollars, I really don't understand what the problem is here
I was excited for the service, but i am concerned about the overall service when you release this poor version of app. You are better off not releasing this and direct folks to the website. The website is also poorly designed as well.
I cannot log in to the app because I setup my account on the website by connecting it to my Google account. When using the app this isn’t a supported way to login. It just presents a simple username/password login screen with no option to log in via Google.
This app is in dire need of an update - the buttons are too close to the top and bottom of the screen and don’t click through on my iPhone 14 Pro - really annoying to try and actually use to make any updates.
The website works well but when logging in with same passwords on app, I continue to get the message that it won’t log me on. Trying the product for the first time this week.
The app logs me out anytime I try to click on one of my orders. Completely broken. It is also not optimized for newer generation iPhones so many of the buttons are hidden/unusable. I deleted the app and will just have to use the website sadly.
My app hasn’t been working for months. I cannot leave feedback which I rely on to remember my ratings for meals and if I want them again. I love Thistle, but the app just needs some serious updating.
Thistle has an amazing selection of nutritious foods, snacks and juices to feast on. If you are really diet conscious and want to maximize your time spent eating then Thistle is an excellent option that you can choose. As a delivery driver I was accused of harassment and it was spread throughout the entire company. I do not respect the upper management at all.
The boundaries for the app are too high at the top, unable to select buttons at the top, cut off by the area of the front facing camera. Bottom is also cut off from the boundary.
The app is too broken to be usable, I recommend using the website. It fails to save changes to meals and also shows orders associated with the wrong days. On the iPad it’s the most zoomed-in app I’ve ever seen. Very disappointing all around.
This is such a subpar app experience I’d pull it from the store until you can fix critical bugs like me needing to sign in on EVERY tab I click on. So frustrating.
I was an interested customer but after not being able to select allergens button on the app and verbally having trouble with the user experience, I’m no longer subscribing.
Food is good, app layout is horrendous. Cannot tap any buttons on top or bottom because it does not accommodate the notches. Probably a cross platform hack job. It’s not that hard, please update.
They kept delivering to my neighbor, not to me. So I canceled for a third time because I didn’t have lunch for work. The food is great. The service is awful. The delivery is downright stupid.
