THE app to prepare you for your cycling goals
I haven’t had any prior experience training with structure or using intervals as a training tool in the past. I took on a lofty goal of finishing Unbound 200 and after getting 4 months of zone 2 base miles in my legs using Zwift, I decided to try and ultimately commit to Trainer Road to help me reach the finish line. I learned a lot for their Ask a Cycling Coach Podcast which built a base of knowledge to supplement the training with the app. I feel like I went 0-100 with all of the resources they provide across all of their platforms. I adhered to the training plan it created for me very closely after taking into account my goals and schedule. I trained for 9 months with TR leading up to Unbound and I’m proud to say I finished through the terrible conditions on course. Mud, wind, heat, lightning storm, hours of rain, a little hail, more mud, a mechanical. NOT ONCE during the race did I doubt my legs. I charged up every named climb clean, the repeatability I inherited is like nothing I’ve ever experienced in my few years of casual cycling. Thank you Trainer Road for your help, I’m continuing to train with the platform with bigger goals in the future (Unbound 200 again, Gravel Worlds 300, BC Epic in the years to come). If you’re wondering if the cost is worth it, I’m here to say it’s a no-brainer 👍🏼

Can’t Share This Enough
TrainerRoad has changed my life. I’ve been riding regularly for 5+ years, entered races for fun, raced competitively as well as worked in a bike shop for most of those years. I battled with the elitist attitude in the cycling world regularly and mainly just wanted to get myself and others out and ride. I had never cared or given much thought to statistics besides miles, speed, and cadence. Last year I was signed on to a local racing team and knew I needed more “training” but the other riding/training app didn’t bring any motivation to the table. We have cold winters in South Dakota and indoor rides are a must. A friend and fellow cyclist recommended TrainerRoad and immediately I was hooked. The team has put so much work into tailoring each block, educational and motivational text during rides, not to mention and the podcast and forums. Using TR makes me excited about the next ride as soon as I finish one. I tell everyone I know that rides about it because it is a beautiful balance between beginner and elite cycling and I cannot thank y’all enough.

I Am Blown Away!
This app is absolutely amazing to me. The training plans are spot on, and they adapt as you go. The new Master’s option has been great for me (at 52 years old). The ability to (very simply) make the workout available on my Garmin head unit and to make the screen similar to what you are used to in Trainerroad is fantastic during these months of hit-and-miss weather. Being able to modify the assigned workout by selecting a slightly different workout based on your parameters (like time) is pretty powerful. I just had my complementary “onboarding” call with Meghan, and that also exceeded all expectations. I strongly encourage taking advantage of this as she was able to show me things in the app I wasn’t aware of. It is so refreshing to see a company like this dedicated to taking care of their customers and providing extremely high value.

Great app...but
I have a lot of good things to say about this app and the program, overall. However, there is something (obvious) missing — when TR begins sharing its data with Apple Activity & Health apps I will update to 5 stars. The Sensor pairing has improved tremendously since the early releases. The in ride experience has also improved. The entire TR experience is fairly transparent during a ride and that is a good thing as it allows me to focus on riding and not the app itself. I also love the custom workout creator. I have looked at EVERY cycling app on the market (and I develop iOS apps) and can say that these guys got it right. TR is worth every penny of the subscription price. I do wish there was a better visual for staying in my power zone. I like the horizontal slider and that TR will notify me if I stray too far... but I want to see more than a ‘dot’ for this indication. I’d like to see the entire range (% lower and higher) around my goal power at all times. I’d also like to have some control over this range. Otherwise, I love the experience and it makes me want to train — which is always a good thing!

Worth it
I started riding again in 2019 after a 7 year hiatus. I was an overweight powerlifter and couldn’t tie my shoes without getting out of breath. I was depressed and needed a big change to bothsee myself differently and feel good again. This program has given me the tools I needed to get out of my own head and enjoy cycling again. I don’t have power numbers from my 20s and 30s to compare to because hr was the only affordable option for me back then. I will say that with this program, I started with a 177 ftp in 2019 and am currently at 285. The new features with adaptive training are wonderful. I could go on, but TR is worth every penny. If you’re hesitant just listen to the podcast and you’ll hear many similar stories. Update- just used the new ftp detection feature and @ 288 now!

Shape to Challenge
I’ve played sports all my life, mostly soccer and had indoor team for over 20 years so being in shape was easy. However the last 8 to 10 years as I’ve gotten into my forties and the economy wouldn’t help either, I closed my team and have been neglecting myself. I’ve slowly packed on pound after pound and adapted to it. However getting older was no choice but staying active and try to be healthy it was. I don’t like running and not much into other sports but I like cycling so I started indoor and out depending on weather. I downloaded this ap and I’m happy to say that it gave me a challenge every workout and because of my previous workouts I have something to compare and challenge myself. I’m down about 35lbs and feel better than I’ve been in a very long time. Thanks TrainerRoad

1 Year In
I have been using TrainerRoad for over a year now and feel like it offers good returns on my training. I like to follow a plan and check things off so I feel like I’m accomplishing a goal and I can do that with TrainerRoad. Their workout calendar allows me to see my weekly TSS score so I can keep up with it even when I do shop rides. The calendar also allows me to move my workouts around if I miss a day or know that I will be missing a future day. I live in a rural area and actually do many of my rides outside and just memorize the workout before I ride. My FTP has risen some but more than that I am able sustain hard efforts for much longer periods of time. The higher threshold really shows on large group rides and races. FYI I’m a cat 1 MTB racer. Also regardless

Not happy with March 2021 update
I have been using Trainer Road for a couple of years now and have been very happy with the app. Unfortunately, that all changed with the recent update/redesign of the app this March 2021. I never had issues connecting my smart trainer, power meter, heart monitor, and speed/cadence device. I also did not have a problem calibrating my smart trainer. The past three rides since the update have been highly frustrating. I have spent between 10 to 20 minutes trying to connect my devices which was no problem before the update. Once my devices are attached my smart trainer will not calibrate. After multiple attempts, opening and closing the app, all of a sudden everything is connected and I can calibrate. All of my devices connect with the manufacturer’s app and the Wahoo Utility app. I do not have any of devices connected to any other app when using Trainer Road. If the app is not fixed ASAP, I will cancel my subscription.

Great improvement in my training
Update to my earlier review- I have now completed 4 Ironmans and about to do my fifth. I have used TR on its own and with a coach. It has really helped tremendously. TrainerRoad has been and incredible boost to my performance. I have been using it for 2.5 months and love it. The addition of the AI is awesome! Because TR is adding AI to a proven system and because it allows me to approve the adaptations before they are applied, I feel completely confident. I thought my training was well structured before TR, but now I see how sloppy and ineffective it was. Before, I was left to my own devices to adhere to target wattages and cadence. I use TR with a Wahoo Kickr so it sets the wattage and I have to but in very consistent work to follow the plan.

Great Training App
The workouts are excellent— after the ramp test to assess your initial condition, the training plans have been really good at finding that balance of feeling like /really/ hard work, but still giving you enough margin to be ready for the next one. The workout themselves are varied, and the optional training suggested (cadence drills, form on the bike, aero positioning and breathing) really help to mentally break up the workout and leave you feeling surprised how quickly it seemed to pass. Also just as a recommendation — I started by listening to their podcast, it’s fun, crazily well produced, and packed with info on training and racing, after a few episodes of that I tried the app and the only downside is that I should have signed up a year earlier!

Long time user, avid underachiever
TrainerRoad has been my go to training platform for 5 or 6 years. I am very sporadic in my training and not a racer but use TR for kicking myself into shape. Earlier this year (2018) I was diagnosed with Celiac disease and colitis. I have successfully improved my diet and have become and avid runner and casual cyclist. Next year I will be competing in my 3rd 70.3 race and 1st full IM distance event and am planning to follow the TR plans through the multiple phases as close as possible. I truly believe this is a great way to achieve success on race day. I am expecting our second child in April, but am counting on being prepared for the May and September races thanks to the hard work and great product from the guys at TR! Thanks! - Jake H.

Finally “The One”
I’ve been on multiple training platforms that I won’t name. They’ve been okay, but for my busy lifestyle this provides the most ease and flexibility in planning my workout. Really loving the incorporation of green light and red light. I suffer from overtraining and this keeps me in check. I will say I also put a power meter on my bike to move things outdoor, which has been helping immensely with an understanding that I’ve been going way to hard in previous sessions. Training for the Asheville Gran Fondo in July right now and am looking forward to seeing what results I get out of it. Thanks so much for the great program and podcast content. Keep it coming! In the best bike shape of my life due to TR!!
Been using TR for about a year to help me get good bike rides in on very limited time. I started w a few rides a week then decided to do a program for a century ride earlier this year. The adaptive training in 3 months got me in some of the best bike shape of my life (38 yrs old). I’ve stuck with it and done another century 3 months later. My FTP has gone from 180 to 232 in just 8 months and I feel great in the bike and off. I’ve also found their customer service to be super responsive when I’ve had questions. Their podcasts are also very informative and motivating. My only regret is not trying trainer road soon! I have mine setup with Wahoo kickr core trainer in the basement.

Best cycling training app
This app is in such a perfect place right now. Adaptive Training + Train Now + FTP detection is such an incredible combination of tools to keep my training consistent. For reference, I have been using TR since before Adaptive Training and even before Plan Builder. I took pride in building out what I thought would be the perfect plan for me and I was hesitant to use Adaptive Training at first, but I would never go back. FTP detection is like the last piece of the puzzle for me. I always had “test anxiety” the night before a ramp test and I would sleep terribly, inevitably having a negative impact on my ramp test. Not anymore. Now I just have to ride, eat, and get faster! If only TR could make my meals healthy, too!

Getting Faster Every Day!
I’m a relatively new cycling enthusiast! I started cycling seriously in Feb ‘22. Picked up a trainer and a gravel bike to prep for a 150 mile charity ride. Had a friend turn me on to TR and I’ve absolutely loved it! The workouts are challenging, and as a hobbyist, it’s really awesome to have the program build structured workouts to help me achieve my goals for events. I went from being just a regular biking commuter to riding multiple century events a year in a very short period of time. Regular, structured training from TR has given me a ton of confidence as a rider, and I’ve gotten a ton of enjoyment out of the fitness gained since starting the program! Love the app, love the podcast! Thanks, TrainerRoad team!

Thank you TR!
TrainerRoad has been instrumental in me being able to improve my fitness. With TR I have empirical data each and every workout that demonstrates my progress. As a lot of people in my age group (46 y/o) I don’t have unlimited time to train. TrainerRoad AND the Ask A Cycling Coach Podcast have been great tools to improve my workouts, knowledge, and overall well being. I have a subscription as well as my 16 y/o son. We can keep up with all of our rides including outdoor using the calendar. TR has continued to add useful features and they’ve all been fantastic! Thank you Chad, Jonathan, Nate, Pete and now Amber! The list can go on but all the folks at TrainerRoad are great AND they’re serious about how to make you a faster cyclist!

Great training. Decent app.
The training plans and concept for trainerroad are fantastic but they suffer from the same blind spots that a lot of smaller developers frequently develop. The application continues to suffer from the same persistence errors it has had since the beginning. ( is it still based on the weird adobe mobile thing? ) The application frequently gets into a state bad enough to need to be restarted, to need the phone and bluetooth devices to be restarted, or finally the application to be uninstalled and reinstalled on the device and all the devices re-paired. The support process they think is acceptable is to make their customers waste their training time restarting everything every time there is the smallest hiccup in anything then mark the case as "solved" because technically it worked in the end.

If you want to get faster
I started out as a 45 year old wanting to loose some weight and get in shape. Training outside was inconsistent and often dangerous so I bought a trainer. A friend recommended TrainerRoad and I love the product. With three sensors from Wahoo (Speed, cadence and heart rate) and a usb dongle I was able to set up an old laptop in the garage. My first Functional Threshold Test (FTP) I measured around 213 wats. Two years later I am down from 200 lbs to 172 and my FTP increased to 285. The training plans help slowly ramp up the training stress and have rest built in which keeps me from over training. I love this product and will continue to use it and take on big goals like the Hincapie Gran Fondo I just completed in Greenville SC USA.

Great app, Getting pricy
I love this app. Prefer it to other smart trainer apps out there (ie. Zwift). Really focused training modules, excellent training tips. In just 6 weeks my FTP went up 30 watts. Now with the addition of group rides is an added bonus that truly enriches the experience. The reason that I am not giving 5 stars is the price increase to 20 dollars a month. All the other apps (ie Zwift) have continued to remain at 15 dollars a month. If they decrease the cost or add enough new features that justify the the price hike (price increase did not include any new features except group ride which the competition has had for a while). I will still remain loyal and can afford the added cost but not fair to those that can’t. All in all great app and gets the job done.

TrainerRoad is hands down the best coach
If you follow their process you will be stronger and faster. Forget all the other apps, just follow their podcast and do your assigned TrainerRoad workouts, and you will be a faster cyclist. Use the plan builder to layout your planes. You will also amaze your friends with all the cycling knowledge and drills you will absorb from the app. I’ve paid $1000s for pro coaches and gotten some results, but TrainerRoad will give you measurable results you can deposit in the bank. You will be the person putting a hurting on your friends in the Saturday rides. Be warned, you will be accused of doping with your new found fitness gained from TrainerRoad.

The Best Training Tool for Any Serious Cyclist!
An outstanding bike training application for those cyclists who really want to maximize their athletic and performance potential. Awesome functionality, customized and automated structured training for all types of cyclists and events, continued great feature development, fair pricing and a passionate and supportive community. And it works both outdoors and indoors with Garmin and Wahoo head units. I have biked for years, view myself as a competitive and athletic person, have used other tools, and this has helped me train and learn more about training than any other tool out there. I’m so happy I started this. My only regret is that I did not start using it years ago.

IMO best cycling app
I understand not everyone will agree, however TR is the best cycling/trainer app for me. Zwift, FULGAZ, ROUVY, and peaks are all great but only ideal for cycling use not a inexpensive training plan for half or full distance IM. Trainer road gives you a full plan based on your goals and abilities. Also it offers the entire plan in erg mode which is critical for me because shifting is not something I want to constantly be doing when I am on the trainer. Additionally, when on the trainer I typically watch a movie/show and therefore I could care less about watching my avatar race. I understand others do and zwift is very popular for a reason but for me TR is my go to.

Cost vs reward
I’ve been with trainer road for 9+ years actually closer to 10. App has been improving and I like features that have been changed and improved upon. I can’t say that I have any complaints nor areas for improvement. It does the job I need. All that said the price has been steadily going up. I’d like to see some kind of return or benefit for those that have been here longer or price difference. At some point it will be too much and I’ll have to find a cheaper service which might lack in over all enjoyment but it would be lighter on my wallet. Again thanks for a great app. Myles

No Apple Health Integration - Really Unfortunate
This review isn’t a criticism of the platform regarding training effectiveness. As others have said, it’s great for that. With that being said, the app lacks a critical feature for those users who use an Apple Watch for activity tracking and other types of workouts (running, weight training, etc). Most fitness apps on iOS these days (including Zwift I believe) integrate with the Apple Health/Activity app. It’s a nice, convenient way to track total activity in a single place if you’re an Apple Watch user. I hope the developers will add this functionality soon as I really like other aspects of the platform (their podcast is great too).

The place to get faster
There are plenty of apps out there trying their best to distract you. This app is for those who are not afraid to admit why you’re here: training. Incredible execution and light years ahead in tailoring every workout and recovery ride to make you faster. The coaches and people behind this app are truly leading the way in maximizing your ability. The new flexible Adaptive Training is smart enough to consider your missed days or potential overtraining when life gets stressful. If you need to suffer with company, the group workout feature works slick to patch in a few friends. TrainerRoad is worth every penny.

The best training platform
Been using now for several months after previously trying Zwift and The Sufferfest/Wahoo SYSTM. For anybody with an interest in systematic improvement and the ability to generate custom training plans that adapt to your personal improvement and life stresses, there is NO comparison. Interface is simple compared to others, but that makes it easier to focus on the work IMO. Tech support is fast and very impressive (able to recover a ride after my computer died midway through - computer is cooked but progression levels and TSS are saved)! The podcast is also excellent. Strongly recommend.

I have been using TrainerRoad week in week out for about 18 months now working through the half and full Ironman programs. I enjoy the no thrills approach - no fancy graphics or enforced soundtracks and videos. Just a slick interface that tells you what you need to know. The structure of the training is great and with the inclusion of wise words from Coach Chad I feel that I’ve become a better and more efficient cyclist as well as a stronger one. TrainerRoad continue to make improvements to the app and it just keeps getting better and better. I love the TrainerRoad podcast too - very insightful and entertaining. You will get faster with TrainerRoad
I have been a TrainerRoad user for the last couple years now and I love this app. There is so much research and user testing that make my subscriptions worth every penny. The plans are very well thought out and their podcast is a great resource for training and racing advice. I find that if there is a specific skill I want to target for a race, I can always find a workout in their library to match my needs. They have been hard at work building in new features and are serious about further product development. I am faster and stronger now and am looking forward to more gains in this upcoming season!

Regressing, unbelievably buggy these days
UPDATE: back to working like a charm, after months and months of bug fínese. Glad they put in the work to make things quicker and more stable, back to a 5-star product! Been a fan of the platform for years, but persistent, worsening crashes are ruining the experience. Finish an FTP test? Crash. Sweat get on your phone screen during a workout? Crash. Cooling down? Crash. When the app crashes you’ll be lucky if it saves your partial workout, and all of the ‘adaptive’ behaviors., progression level, etc will be unusable. TR support seems unable to help and diagnose, and these errors have worsened for months despite repeated deletion/reinstalls. A shame, because the product is otherwise great.

Plans aren’t what they say they will be…
I want to schedule a plan and set it and forget it but the workouts they pick don’t match the description. For example, if I selected low load base, the description says less than 4 hours a week of riding. But the plan actually averages about 7 hours per week and not all the workouts are at zone 2. What ends up happening is I swap a lot of the rides to match what I want. Is it the end of the world? No, but it defeats the purpose of the AI they’ve designed to automatically suggest workouts that match my fitness trajectory. I do like the workouts in there but the entire purpose of the app is defeated because the plans don’t match the description. Regardless, you can definitely get fit using TrainerRoad, but I wouldn’t say TrainerRoad is going to provide magical training that another app doesn’t.

An effective training tool with a good library of workouts…
TrainerRoad has been a very effective tool for helping me build and maintain fitness. While riding outdoors can’t be beaten, TrainerRoad is great at helping time-crunched people do workouts. The app for iOS and iPadOS puts all the important info front and center with no distractions. Instructional text for workouts are clear, concise, and legible. Audible beeps between segment intervals are present, though sometimes I wish they could be louder. I’m also happy for ANT+ dongle support to use with equipment that doesn’t support Bluetooth. The app is stable, and even accidentally quitting the app allows you to resume the ride later.

Training that works
I’ve used TR in the past and got a little bored with looking at numbers. I switched over to Zwift for a winter season only to not see many gains when using their trining plans. My fitness plateaued. I’m using TR again and find the plan builder very useful for structure in workouts and daily life. Finished my fist six weeks in my current training plan, feeling good and motivated for my next FTP test tomorrow. TR has me motivated and looking forward to race season. Structured Training
TR is a very structured and intense training program that is based on your FTP and cycling goals. Want to train for a century but only have 1 hour -3 days a week to do it....no problem! It also has different levels of training, beginning with the basics in Base Training and then working yourself to Build Training. I started out at 170 FTP and in just a few months I had improved to 200. At a year I was at my peak of 260 and enjoying a 65 mile ride over hilly terrain. It’s not flashy and it can be boring staring at a screen reading motivational training guidance which is why I combine it with other media/programs to work thru it.

A rare example of excellence in a market plagued by mediocrity
I’ve been using TrainerRoad now for about seven years. Theirs is the complete package: an app that is uncluttered and easy to use, a podcast absolutely crammed with good information, and tech support that is second to none. It’s easy to tell they’ve put a ton of effort into the user interface. The app and website provide loads of functionality for laying out a training plan, adjusting your workouts or changing your workout schedule when something unexpected comes up. Yet despite this functionality, the interface is remarkably simple. I only wish more apps would be this well thought out and this well executed.

I can’t say enough good about TrainerRoad. I joined just for the training plans and structured workouts, but since that time they have added so much functionality. The performance analytics are fantastic and the new calendar is excellent. I’m able to use performance analytics to see very clearly how much faster I am getting as a result of the training plans and workouts. You could spend thousands and thousands of dollars on lightweight aero gear and still not get even a fraction of the speed that you will get for a nominal annual fee and some hard work on the trainer. Best in class app with best in class support/management
There are few apps and companies that I feel personally passionate about. TrainerRoad is one of them. First up using their program I am fitter than ever. TrainerRoad and everything it does is designed to help create fitter cyclists and triathletes - their entire ecosystem is dedicated and stays on point to that mission. The app is streamlined and great, without excess fluff or baggage that strays from the purpose. And what has really made me feel connected is listening to the TrainerRoad podcast and seeing the level of engagement by CEO Nate Pearson and his team with TR’s customer base (in person, in direct support, and cycling/triathlon forums).

No fuss app
I’ve tried Zwift and am also a current Rouvy user. What I like about Trainerroad is where they choose to put their resources. On the former apps, graphics and group experience reign (not a bad thing) but with limited bandwidth (two teenagers sucking up my bandwidth) I find that experience less than optimal. TR is plug n play with no apparent streaming hiccups. Simple but informative and surprisingly engaging. The textual coaching as I work through an interval workout keeps boredom at bay. Drills sprinkled in add variety and improve my technique. The coaches’ podcast adds an element of reality and sense of belonging to something beyond an inanimate app. Well done! Keep it up TR crew.

Best workout on the bike.
I’ve been looking for a safe way to train while getting quality power based workouts. I’ve never used a trainer in the 30 years of cycling but I’m definitely hooked to TR. I just started my plan in January 2020 and using plan builder while scheduling ABC races for the year couldn’t be easier. The mental stress trying to wrap my head around training plans is now gone. Now all I have to worry about is getting dressed, water bottles, food and then just get on the bike cause the plan is already in my calendar with a scheduled workout. Thanks TR for all your hard work and TR podcasts are icing on the cake.

Annoying lack of Powertap wheel circumference setting support, but otherwise great.
My distance and speed never add up to what it really is on my properly calibrated Garmin. I Contacted TrainerRoad several times and they just don’t care about the PowerTap. I find it hard to believe that I am the only one to have an issue with this. When you do most of your training inside, it would be nice if all the numbers added up. Everything else about TrainerRoad is really good, the plans and the podcast are as good or better than anything else out there. I have recommended their product many times. Please, just make the wheel size calibration for the PowerTap actually do something and I’ll change my review to five stars.

Like a coach but doesn’t break the bank
I trained loosely with a coach who wrote me a recovery plan after a bad injury - but decided this winter to try TrainerRoad. I am using the base plan, and it is awesome. What is really helpful are all the prompts at the bottom as I go through the workout - I am really working on my form, and becoming more efficient with my pedal stroke. The reminders during the workout are spot on and get me through the drills. The workouts are structured to be just hard enough, with enough rest and recovery in between. I am looking forward to the next phase of the plan and becoming super fit for the outdoor season.

It supports getting faster across all three when you use it. Train now, alternate workouts, and the adaptive training are the 3 main reasons why I can’t live without it now. And bonus now! It pull in power from runs to be even more integrated in your workouts and training! Love it and worth every penny. Just do the year and save $50. :)

Super app
I want to get better and faster with cycling and tried out many apps and this one is the best. This is a very dedicated structured training app so there are no social distractions or videos of biking and this. I pair it with the Wahoo Kickr and it works perfectly together. The only thing to keep in mind is to get a dedicated cadence sensor as the one in the Kickr is only estimated and will send out false data. It also works seamlessly with Strava. I am pretty self motivated when I train but with TrainerRoad it just makes it that much easier. Very motivating, excellent sessions and love the onscreen text coaching.

10 year Customer
I have been a loyal Trainerroad customer since 2011. This program has helped me complete 5 full Ironman bike races, 12 half Ironmans, countless Olympic Distance triathlons and bike races. I never thought my training platform would interject your political views upon me, but you did. Spend your personal money as you see fit but I can’t stand the company I support virtue signaling while I simply want to ride without your razor shape political views being broadcasted over this platforms email. Campaign and spend all your money on whatever group you want but keep this platform politics free.

Best training plans, calendars and indoor cycling app
I have listened to Trainerroads podcast for a few years, and finally took the plunge to join (annual membership). I have zero regrets. The app is intentionally kept simple, so that you focus on training. I start the app, check my trainer and HR strap are still linked, go to calendar, and load the days workout. There are shorter and longer versions I can switch to if I’m short of time. Within perhaps 1-2 mins of launching the app, I’m training. When I finish, it all syncs to the calendar and strava and garmin. Could not be happier. I had used Elites’ app and Zwift before.

Best Cycling Training App Out There
Just to be clear, i am just an average rider that enjoys being on my bike. I am in no way an profession cyclist. This app has changed my overall riding performance. I am able to keep up pr even go faster than some local guys that I try to ride with. My focusing on some simple details and being a little more attentive and productive with the time I am on my bike I am seeing greater returns than just randomly riding out doors. I have actually been riding less but with more focus with TR which has given me incredible returns on investment. Wether you are a pro or a recreational rider, use this app. Also, their podcast “Get Faster” is a must listen to as you go along your training journey. Funny, engaging and very informative. Not too over your head for us simple folk and when they hit complex issues, they break it down to bite sized understandable terms. Keep it up. Seriously. Dont loose the quality you guys have.

Indoor Only
The app can only assess your fitness from TrainerRoad workouts. Outdoor workouts show up if linked to your computer but TrainerRoad cannot assess your fitness based on the data. So if you ride a lot outdoors, this app is not for you. AI is a buzzword in technology today, but there doesn’t seem to be any intelligence in TrainerRoad. Update: I’ve been using TrainerRoad for a while and it’s got a lot of great workouts and the support staff is good. There’s nothing AI about it, just algorithm to help calculate your FTP and plan workouts. My biggest complaint is that if you deviate from their workouts, or do a lot of outdoor rides, it seems to discount that data. Also it has no simple free ride function, like the basic wahoo app.

It just works and you will get faster
I am a fan of software products that are simple to use, extremely well thought through, and just work the first time, all the time. This is one of them. Bravo to the developers. I’ve picked up my FTP 15% in 5 months. This program is just dead easy to use and you can go deep as you want or keep it light. Compare it to Zwift, which is fun and engaging but can be fussy and buggy. I subscribe to both, but if I had to keep just one, I think it would be TrainerRoad.

Fat to fast!
I started my riding career off at 265 lbs. tired of being out of breath and over being the strong guy (I did a lot of power lifting). I jumped on a mountain bike and quickly found trainer road podcast. Been listening and using trainer road for over 3 years now and I keep it going year around for those times when I need more structure. I take the rides outside but, a good trainer ride can put you in a great headspace and helps with the time restraints. Thanks team for what you are doing and hopefully, I can race Nate again. It was fun to see you in Chico two years ago

High efficiency training
Been a TR rider for 4 years, and have convinced four others to join along the way. There are many virtues, but the best for me is the confidence that the effort is yielding the maximum benefit in the minimum time that modern exercise science currently knows how to deliver. As I am now in my 60’s, I do wish there was more effort to serve the special needs of aging riders (weaker lungs and stronger legs in my case), but Nate and his crew will figure that out as natural business force them to find new markets. The recent greater focus on the needs of female athletes is evidence of their responsiveness. Keep up the good work gents.
