Not sure why this update was necessary. In the past, some of the filters were useless as it never would allow me to use some of the filters. It had issues. However, I used to be able to delete letters, now I cannot. Same with using the first letters or the last letters. I used to be able to, now I cannot.
So, I downloaded the Unscramble app using my iPhone 5s and for the most part, I felt that the app ran just fine...I unscrambled and clicked on for definition for 6 different words and besides running a little slow, it functioned well and the slowness wasn't slow enough to bother me in any way...The only thing I think may have been an issue was the wildcard function didn't seem to work for me as well as on the home screen it says ( click on word to get definition )...there aren't any words on the home screen, so it can be a bit confusing to tell whats the purpose of those instructions... is there supposed to be words there for me to click on, or is this advising me to click on the words I'm typing in or unscrambling to get the definition...also I'm not sure what the + & - symbol in the section where you type in a word is supposed to do, because when I click on it it goes to the color-changing section but the + or - doesn't really seem to serve a purpose....Other than that the app seemed fine..the ads weren't too intrusion..the settings and other options functioned fine...yes it was a little bit slow to respond but not that slow..and the app never crashed...One of the things that I would change is the color-changing option...instead of having the entire home screen change color I would have rather the word just change color.
Props for ease of use!!! Not a lot of clutter, type in your letters and words appear. Thanx for letting us customize font sizes. WHY don’t you let us have three letter word lists? ‘ALB’, ‘ION’, ‘RHO’... I mean, who wouldn’t brain-short on those if they’re 80 years old trying to play word games on an iPad for the first time? ALSO, CRITICAL, and a deal-breaker if unaddressed MUST OFFER ONLY VALID WORDS to us. If we’re putting in 8 random letters, we only want to get actual accepted word combinations back, not obscure invalids, what’s that about? This is why you only got 4 stars. What if you added another filter, like a ‘common-place-popular-word’ filter for kids? I 5-star LOVE the ‘Tap for auto Definition’ feature, wow, NICE!!! I see what you’re TRYING to give us, and you’re really almost there! Please keep refining and consider the under 10 and over 70 age groups. Your app is the most linear of its kind. You have my gratitude for that.
I went ahead and paid for the app because I’ve gotten far more use out of the app than a dollar- not because I had to. The ads aren’t that intrusive and I’ve gotten a lot of use out of this app after my old one quit updating. This one is better for my needs anyways. I use this for a variety of word games, usually when I get stuck and just need some different ideas for my letters. Thanks for a great resource!
Update.. they fixed the filters! Back to being a great tool. The last update has wiped out the ability to use the filters. The reason this app was great was because of the filters. You could add the characters a number of times and you could add a large number of characters for larger combinations of words. Without the filters it’s now useless to me. I hope they fix it. If they do I will update my review.
Ive used this app occasionally for yrs without any problems, but rececently the screen has gone dark. It makes it very difficult to see the words. What happened and what will it take for the screen to be white again? Thank you
Perfect app for arranging and decoding words for any word game! ALL filters are working again. The display on iPad is still slightly off center, but all features work smooth. Great resource for any word game… thank you thank you to the developers “Software To Fit”
Problems on both iPad and I phone have rendered the app Unusable. Texts to help desk are unanswered, calls to phone number go to a wrong number Features like “starts with” are ignored; the “must have” feature is ignored; the feature excluding tiles results in a frozen app which requires restarts. If there were negative stars available I’d use plenty. Hope the last few days aren’t the end of a previously fine site. As it is, it’ll soon be a dead site.
I was initially upset with the update. The lack of filters made the tool useless. I’m glad to have out back. I’m also happy to have the ability to score blanks as 0 on the iPhone. Thank you
I downloaded this app and have been very happy with it, but yesterday, the app disappeared off my app page so I went to download it again and it wants me to just open the app and I love to be able to have it back on my app page.. Any ideas how I can get it back??
The app does not work when using the advanced options. When entering restrictions (start letters, end letters, excluded letters, etc) there is no longer an “enter key” on the keyboard. It has been replaced with a “Done” blue button which does not trigger the “accept changes” event. That means the algorithm ignores the restrictions entered. This worked until about 3 weeks ago.
Fixed some bugs now created more starting with the half screen. When I want to add a letter it automatically highlights everything and if you don’t catch it, it deletes all the letters and you have to input them all over again. Also when you open it up to restore or restart it used to delete the filter now you have to manually delete it. So annoying.
Just loaded this app 15 m ago and entered the word photography. I was interested in 3 & 4 letter words and got back one 4 letter word. I knew 10 off the top of my head and twice as many 3 letter words but didn’t receive any results for 3 letter words. I hit the two star rating but intended to hit this one star.... shouldn’t have such an obvious problem like this 5 minutes after downloading the app.
I have been using this app for quite awhile now. And would have given it 5 stars. But I am becoming disappointed when it often only unscrambles a word and bypasses the 3 and 4 lettered words. So I may have to find another unscrambler. Grrr
The filters aren’t working properly. When I use the last one, to input letters that cannot be in the word, they disappear and are not used. Please fix this problem.
I would have given this app 5-stars just a week ago. It was great up until the recent update. Now it’s pretty much worthless. The filter feature no longer works. This is what made this app far superior to all other unscrambler apps — the ability to exclude letters, to separate letters, etc., lots of variability. What a pity. Maybe it will get fixed or maybe the elimination of the good features — like setting the color of your window and having it still there when you return to the app, is by design. Are they planning on making those feature “paid” ones? If not, the IT folk broke the app!
The coders really missed the mark on their latest upgrade. Visually, it is a major improvement, but all functionality of the filters is gone. It also does not suggest every possible word anymore. Very disappointed and will have to switch to another app.
Ever since you updated the app the other day, none of the filters work anymore. I type in my exclusions, first letters, last letters, etc., and then go to the list and they all include everything that I excluded. I go back to the filters and none of them are listed. The app is unusable now and I’m shopping for another one.
My score for you went from a solid 5-stars, to a score of 2. Filters (Excludes) no longer work. I can enter the letters to exclude, but as soon as I leave the ‘filters’ screen, they are cleared out. Please correct, and earn your 5-star rating back.
You change or update the app. Now it doesn’t work properly I can’t end my words with the letters I enter. It gives me all the words with those letters. Also the screen is not correct-half of the screen is black.
I've been using this app for years and you recently changed the format!!! I hate it!!! Why is the bottom now black and take up so much space! You can barely see the submit button!!! Why??? It didn't need to be changed!!! Change it back please!
This latest 4.0.0 version is crippled by the fact that the Apply button in the filter screen is not doing anything. This is one of the key features of this app. How did it pass QA before release?
Lots of words are not valid her words with friends
I love the interface however it is totally useless to me if most of the words I am using come up in words with friends as “not valid“. I sent an email to their support mailbox and it was rejected as the mailbox was full. Tells you a little bit about their level of customer service.
The biggest complaint I had with the old version was that it left out some common words words and gave too many non-words. Now, the filters don't work. Think I'll try another app
I’ve used this for quite a while and was very happy with it. BUT with the latest iPhone security update, the filters no longer work. All I get is the same word list. Not very helpful.
I thought this app had crashed, but now find out there was an automatic update that just isn’t working. Please get a patch ASAP or change it back to the previous release. Thank you
I have found this app useful for many word puzzles… but the latest version (08/24 v4.0.0) will not allow you to apply the advanced filters. Hope they fix it soon.
Why all the changes? Been enjoying this app for many years. Now it’s just annoying. Whoever decided to change it to this mess is just mean. I don’t get the purpose.
This used to work perfectly. Then there was an update in Aug 2024, and now none of the folders work. It will literally give you the entire lexicon if you try to find a word that starts with S and ends with E.
This app use to work, quite nicely. But it has been abandoned by the developers, doesn’t work at all and even provides grossly wrong answers that aren’t even words found in any dictionary. They need to simply remove this app from the menu. It is TOTALLY worthless.
New version 4.0.0 has a black screen that starts in the middle of the submit and lock buttons on the blue screen. Tried to report this, but received message from Apple that it’s not reportable. Clicked on App Support, but couldn’t find a way to get help.
Guys. What’s going on??! You had a perfect app. Sure, spruce it up and whatever but this is broken. Filters, missing words. “Zen” wasn’t a result despite it’s availability. Good intentions on your part but quality assurance was lacking. Please fix.
I’ve been using Unscramble for years and all of a sudden the app is basically useless. Used to be a solid 5*. Now it’s basically useless. No response from the developer to an email.
I have been using this app for years. Then a few days ago it is a different format and nothing works. Don’t know what happened but it’s useless to me now. So I must find a new unscrambler.
Input letters and find all playable words and values. Always find the highest scoring word for SCRABBLE® and Words With Friends. This SCRABBLE® cheat ability is nice but we prefer to let your partner know you are using a word unscrambler to unscramble letters. Some call it word breaking or using a word breaker. Use filters for 'Starts with' or 'Ends With' and many other filters to speed up word searching. Select from multiple dictionaries. Increase your vocabulary by finding words and looking up the definition by tapping the word. You will see how easy generating words is. Most of all, have fun!
