Just get it

Soooo helpful! I was becoming so frustrated not understanding why my tummy started messing with me the last yrs. To find something that is specific to me has been so helpful! I use to eat garlic, paprika, tomatoes, cucumbers EVERYDAY! To find out that those things created an inflammatory response in me was mind blowing. I feel loads better since applying their recommendations. I recently started their supplements for piece of mind knowing I’m getting what I need and from a quality supplement company. I’m really excited to retest to see how much stronger I’ve gotten. Some reviews say the test gives you common sense info- lies. 2 co workers and myself did this and our results were very different. I’m annoyed I can’t get this test in NY (I just moved back). Trying to figure out a solution as to where I can still have access to Viome

Month supplements and pre/probiotics delayed every single time

While the data and recommendations provided in the gut health report has been very useful, I am extremely frustrated with the turn around times for the services and products I subscribed to, the gut health report took about a month or more to be delivered and the monthly subscription of precision supplements + pre/probiotics have been absolutely horrible, the monthly supply runs out in 30 days, however the order is always delayed, meaning while I finish one month’s supply I have to wait 2 more weeks to receive the next month’s supply, forcing me to always have lapses in the intake and treatment with the recommended products by Viome, what is the point of a monthly subscription if the shipment and delivery is always severely delayed? Why do I get charged at the beginning of every month and then only see my shipping notification 3-4 weeks after? Every time I contact support with this issue the answer is ‘no worries your order is in production and you’ll receive a shipping notification when it ships’ what type of support is this? Why can I not get someone to actually realize how bad the issue is and do something to fix it? Paying $150 month for their supplements and probiotics is not a small sum to invest, the least I’d expect is that they deliver on time. PLEASE FIX ASAP or I will be cancelling my subscription shortly. Plenty of competitor solutions that promise the same..

Skeptical

There is a lot I don’t like about this. 1) I eat a highly anti-inflammatory diet but this test says I have a very low inflammation response. I also take probiotics daily and it says I have a 40 out of 100 gut health score. I don’t buy it. Also, broccoli and brussels sprouts contribute to “harmful microbial activity”? I’m just going to keep eating a diverse selection of vegetables, fruits, and probiotics and save the $150 a month to correct these suspicious results. 2) Also, a large number of my “avoid” foods are there because they may boost my blood sugar. I have to wonder if these are included because I told Viome that I have type 1 diabetes. I manage my blood sugars with insulin just fine and don’t need Viome’s help with this. I regret including that information in the sign-up section. If I did this again I would I tell them I’m perfectly healthy and see what the results were. There is at least one very specific herb they recommended that I also think is there because of info I put in the questionnaire and not because of a test result. I really wonder how much of their recommendations are just a response to my answers on the questionnaire. My advice: don’t admit to ailments in the sign-up.

Viome changed my life!

I’ve been super careful to eat nutritiously since I was 15 years old. I’m now 67 years old. I figured out a lot of things over the years, but I couldn’t resolve certain mysteries. When I received my Viome recommendations, I saw that some of my favorite foods, that I was eating often, were in the avoid list! In a million years, I would never have guessed that those particular foods would be causing me problems! When I removed them, I had enormous improvement! I have been eating my super foods and avoiding my avoid foods and I am doing much better than before. Viome is cutting edge and I am so grateful to you for the work that you are doing, understanding that we are each totally unique and need to learn which foods reduce or cause inflammation in our body in particular. Life changing!

After years of poor digestion, I’ve finally been able to learn what’s happening internally with my digestive system and how to improve my diet for better immunity. And let’s face it, with such busy and stressful lives, we could all use a little more natural strength from within! My only wish is that everyone can benefit from this technology. Oh, and to the product team, it would be really awesome to have a bigger library of searchable foods (ex. adding Stilton, halloumi). i barely write reviews but think it’s high time this maturing company got the credit it deserves :) Congrats on making this innovative and nascent technology a commercial success. After all, it’s easy to have brilliant ideas and quite another to impact lives positively at scale, bravo!!

Great marketing, no substance

This company is a joke. When I got my list of recommended/not recommended foods, the first thing that seemed a little suspicious was that they only pick one chemical compound in each food by which they either recommend the food or don’t. Each fruit/vegetable/meat has way more than just that one compound. So how do they sort it all out to give you the right food recommendations for you? Well, let me tell you how. Sardines were on my “avoid” list, reason given high purines (210 mg/100 g). Anchovies were in my “superfoods” category, and they have almost twice the amount of purines (410 mg/100 g). The same purines I have to avoid sardines for! Forget my question about matching multiple compounds, they can’t even do one right! Use the app for entertainment purposes if you want. And since they’re mostly recommending fruits and vegetables, you’ll probably feel better following their recommendations. Alternatively, just eat more vegetables and save the money!

Changed my Health! Like New Design!

The Viome test and food results have changed my digestion. I NEVER feel bloated anymore (a reoccurring problem I had for years!) and everything runs much more smoothly than I can ever remember. The new app design is very helpful in that it shows pictures of each food, making the recommendations more memorable. I like that the video explanations are more accessible, I plan to watch them soon as I need to learn more. Previously, I noticed rhubarb was not included in the recommendation list and now it is. I appreciate all the small improvements and look forward to seeing Viome benefit my husband and friends!!

If the APP WOULD WORK, I’d have ANY info at all

Several of my friends have raved about this, so I came in prepared to love it. The kit was beautifully and excellently designed and the sample part was clean and easy. For that, I give them a star. Then the questionnaires, which you understandably have to complete before you can get any info, absolutely will not complete for me. I’ve tried 5 times, spent hours on them, and some will show completed, while others just go round and round showing random blanks where before I’d written detailed answers. I contacted help three times and heard nothing for weeks, then only a cursory note telling me that they’re completed when the check mark is next to it. Didn’t listen to the fact that the check mark isn’t occurring next to some, regardless of how many times I complete it. I’d asked for a way to ensure that they’ll be completed, and that was all I got. So I tried again, several times, with the same results. Since they simply won’t complete, I can’t receive any info from my sample/test. Which means the entire point is null. Thus the one star. I’ve never given a 1 star review, but since there was no help or solution, I feel it only honest to share my experience. I’m sure it works perfectly for many people. But unless the app accepts your questionnaires, it’s all a waste. Pardon the pun. ;-) Blessings upon your health and well-being ~

Warning: custom supplement quantities are false and potentially dangerous

When I noticed many of the supplement quantities recommended for my son where extremely high such as vitamin D 16mg day or selenium 32 mg I contacted the company and after much back and forth it eventually became clear that the values they report in the app are actually the supplement plus the powder it’s compounded in. In other words, what’s reported is false and you don’t actually know what they’re giving you because you don’t know how their stocks are compounded. This is like buying a vitamin D tablet at the pharmacy and they list the weight of the pill and not how much vitamin D is in it!! So don’t take the values shown in the app and try and go buy your own selection of supplements because you could get dangerously too much. I explained this issue to the company and they said they would get back to me. Hopefully they will do the right thing and correct their app ASAP.

Results taking 7+ weeks

I have completed several gut tests through Viome and other services however the wait time for Viome is the worst. I am still waiting for results and it has been 7 weeks. 4 weeks is the max time I am willing to wait. Having the results tracking feature is only useful if the sample progresses and the user has some idea of how long each stage takes. I also don’t like that the test kits expire in 6 months especially if it takes 2-3 months to get results. After complaining to customer service they said my sample had to be reprocessed however there was no indication in the tracker of reprocessing. Also if that is the case then I should have my results in a few days which I doubt will happen. Also I paid for the extra health tests and that sample has not moved in the tracker in 4 weeks. So disappointed in Viome.

I am so grateful for this company for providing us with the tools to not only educate ourselves about our own health but to also provide helpful action items that help improve my health and takes the guesswork out of the equation. When I got my results I was shocked to see that literally my whole current diet was on my avoid or minimize list then again I am not surprised because my digestion, skin and health is a mess. I am now slowly working on changing my diet and I can’t wait to get retested again to see my health improve

Great! Could be a little better

I love this service! I do think they could do better on a few things: From a design standpoint, there should be a simple arrow or button to go back to the top of the page anytime you scroll down a long list of food or bacteria or whatever. I think a scroll bar would also help here (so you know where you are in the list and can scroll up fast). For people participating in your study, I think it would be nice to have access to more information regarding that (after the initial message disappeared I haven’t seen anything). If this is all about your diet, I think it would be worth while to have a meal tracking section. Especially if study participants are supposed to keep track of this. Overall I love the app! The loading screen seems a little lazily done but I love the service being provided and the overall organization of the app is great. Edit: I also agree that there should be an offline version that’s shows your list of foods for when you’re out grocery shopping

Great service, great app!

Best part about this service is that when you submit your sample you’re not waiting for results through a doctors portal or an email that can get lost. You’re directly connected through your app as soon as your results are ready! The recommendations basically give you a shopping list as well as specific foods to avoid. I also would’ve just been taking regular vitamins and guessing at supplements that would be good for me if not for Viome.

Not as informational as thryve

I was looking forward to learn more about my constipation issues. The foods didn’t help too much, even cutting them 100% from my diet. Then, I bought their “optimized supplements” in which gave severe allergy reactions. Apparently they should have known that I am allergic to some of the ingredients used in my supplements. I wish I could have given 100% refund, but anyways, moving forward, decided to invest a little more and decided to go for thryve and everlywell. Thryve was it, gave me all the foods I should NOT eat and the reasons why those foods were really bad for my gut. It gave the microbiome that would decrease or increase in my gut and cause even more constipation and the ones that it would give better gut. If I could, I would give zero stars.

Some of the recommendations make no sense

There’s a good chance they make suggestions that will keep you subscribed to their supplements and probiotics. I looked up what to avoid given that I had a bad score for a particular metabolic pathway and according to Harvard and many other reputable sources the last thing I should be eating is one of the things listed as a superfood. This particular food was listed as a superfood for the most vague and stupid reason: because it is a source of protein. Pretty sure there are many other sources of protein that I could have to avoid the harmful substances in this particular food. So either they are a) trying to keep me subscribed b) conducting some ethically questionable experiment or c) they are backed by the meat industry. In all of these scenarios you should absolutely not pay for monthly supplements.

Sick & tired of being SICK AND TIRED!!

I did this test because I’ve been sick for 8 years now & between 3 different SPECIALISTS TRYING TO GET ME WELL, I WAS NOT GETTING ANY BETTER!! All I seem to get was one antibiotic after another & although the different drugs would help for a little while I CONTINUED TO STAY SICK & FRUSTRATED! So I had NOTHING LEFT TO DO EXCEPT TRY VIOME!! Although my test REVEALED I’D NEED 45 different supplements for me, I JUST DIDNT CARE ANYMORE! I had nothing left to lose EXCEPT ANOTHER ROUND OF ANTIBIOTICS! So, after getting my results from VIOME I’ve decided I’m taking their supplements & giving it a shot! I’ll keep this posted on my progress but I have NOTHING TO LOSE EXCEPT STAYING SICK & GETTING SICKER!! I’m EXCITED to think about the fact that I MIGHT ACTUALLY BE ON MY ROAD TO RECOVERY! I have NOTHING TO LOSE & after all I can cancel anytime IF IT DOESNT seem to be working but I THINK VIOME IS GOING TO WORK!! Thank you guys, Pam Foshee Florida!!

Life changing dietary test!

Viome has been a game changer for my health. Ever since I took my test and got my results back, I’ve been very healthy. I love that I know which foods are my superfoods, foods to avoid or to minimize. I use to get really bad stomach aches when ever I would eat certain foods and little did I know I had a list of 20 foods I needed to avoid. I’ve been eating potatoes and drinking coffee for years without knowing that it’s terrible for microbiome. I’ve never been into health in my life and feel super grateful for this life changing test! Thanks Viome!

Never get results, never get help

I was so excited to try this, it seems like such a great idea. But after weeks of no results and horrible/non existent customer service, all I can say is save yourself time, money and energy and go somewhere else!!! I had tried reaching out through IG, and all they say is “DM us,” when you dm them, all they say is “call customer service” which I had done in the first place. They give you the runaround and no results and then say they have to charge you a cancellation fee of $199! Cancel from what??? I did not receive a service! To make matters worse, they block you if you complain so I havr a feeling they get MULTIPLE complaints that we just can’t see!!!

Great app once results came in. Did not appreciate that I could not read my results without the app repeatedly sending me to this review page. Would have been a more positive review if I’d been able to actually fully use the app and write a review at my own convenience. Update** after getting to review my results, they are amazing. Very detailed with the data and references to support it. Way more helpful than my health insurance has ever been!

Results and supplements

Truly enjoy the ability to see what is good for my gut microbiome. I’ve experienced quite a few positives with following my recommendations. Now, the new supplement line is going to make it easier for me to order supplements and the monthly subscription price is decent than spending $300+ in supplements that will only give you 1 month supply. It’s nice to see this change. As for the app, it’s useful and my account through the website is just as great.

Still lacking

I’m disappointed. This is my second purchase of the basic gut biome and after 3 years since the first one, I don’t see many advances to the food list. For instance, I know I am gluten sensitive, but I’m not finding anything about other grains - like plain, organic oatmeal. I did find a generic list of foods everyone should avoid, which included flavored oatmeal, but come on! I feel like this is more of an advertisement for their very expensive supplement products. I do feel that this program offers some good info, but wonder how truly personalized it is.

Hoping the results are better than the app

The app is pretty horrible as others have mentioned. No matter how many times I answer the questions random sections are labeled as in complete even though I have finished them all. I hope this won’t delay my results! It’s also not intuitive that once you finish a section it drops it to the bottom of the screen, but remains ‘open’. You then have to scroll back up to find the remaining sections to answer. Also asking the stomach questions like “do you have a sensitivity to dairy/grains” should come with a “I don’t know” choice. I don’t know if I have a sensitivity to diary or grains— that’s what I paid Viome to tell me!

Good tests, terrible customer service

I have used viome on and off for years. As someone who is heavy in the biohacking field and has tried many products I will say: 1. I like their tests but don’t find them to be as effective with their choices. 2. Twice I have gotten supplements that made me ill. I checked I was allergic to an ingredient which they then put in my supplement and wouldn’t refund me. 3. They don’t refund if there is an issue. 4. If you have an issue, the customer service process is laborious and ineffective. Often, your emails go to different agents who don’t actually scroll to see the previous messages so there is a lot of repeating. Talking to a live person to solve something is not allowed. I am so absolutely frustrated that I cannot get my problems solved with them in a timely manner or any manner. 5. For the higher cost paid, I would expect better responses and a more efficient back end.

Great business but horrible app!

The idea of this business is great. It was easy to understand the instructions to collect and send back a sample. The app needs a lot of work. For example, many images are pixelated- not the right resolution. Numbers/symbols are not centered on buttons or other circle icons. Images sometimes are broken. Notifications can’t be “read”- in other words, when I check a new notification, it is still shown as a *new* notification each subsequent time I log in. And many other things... These kinds of things are not so major but make the app seem amateur and unprofessional.

Life Changing

After struggling with poor digestion since my twenties and developing and recovering from colon cancer in my forties, I am thrilled that a friend introduced me to Viome. After following Viome’s food and supplement recommendations for 90 days so far, my overall health has improved dramatically including my digestion, hormone balance, mental sharpness and reduced anxiety. I don’t like my time wasted

This company is trying to improve your health but it’s elevating my stress hormones when I am unable to submit my questions on the app that are required to be answered to get proper results. To add to the frustation, I have not found a way to be able to contact a human to answer my specific problem regarding collecting samples. And the method they have for helping customers find questions is also very useless. Now that I’m typing this, I’m thinking maybe I should give this just a 1 star review. Let’s see how things go after they receive my collection sample...

Unexpected great results

I never expected to feel this good! I did the tests, followed the food recommendations and I’ve been taking the supplements for about 3 months. I feel AMAZING. No sugar nor salt cravings, no mid-day hunger pangs, much more energy, and - best of all - an incredible sense of calm and wellbeing. I’m so delighted that I plan to order test kits for all of my children and their spouses as Christmas gifts. Thank you, Viome!

Awful customer service

Awful, slow customer service. I wish I could say anything else, but results of testing for samples they received on October 31 haven’t posted 7 weeks later. One of the tests isn't even showing as registered in the app and I keep going back and forth by email answering one question after another with days in between not hearing anything from Viome. If this ever gets resolved and I can see any results perhaps there will be reason for me to come back and change the rating. But for now, highly suggest anyone reading this consider a different service...there are plenty to choose from !

Great way to focus on my health! (With data)

I’ve been testing with viome system for a while and love the detailed data about how my body deals with food. I’ve also started taking their supplements and they’ve been huge boost to my health. I definitely have more energy and better digestion not to mention the peace of mind with ping my immune system strong. Highly recommend.

Waste of money

This app keeps forcing me to review it so I’ll just say their supplements recommendations evidence include studies done on broiler chickens and in vitro studies. Their superfood recommendations are things that people already regard as healthy. There are foods that it recommends I avoid that cause me no issues and actually leave me feeling pretty great. Some of the supplements recommendations cause severe issues with me (insomnia, heart palpitations, anxiety). Some food recommendations are contradictory (ie don’t eat prunes, they’ll cause a blood sugar spike while simultaneously recommending other fruits that would have the same effect). Save your money.

This technology will change the health industry. The testing, app, and products have been a game changer so far. The key is to give it time. It takes a while to see benefits but if you stick with the plan you will notice your mind and body getting back to homeostasis.

3.0 Update Broke Studies

App has always worked great but as soon as 3.0 was installed I’ve been unable to access Studies, receive an “OPPS There was an error - should have been a text string.” Kind of makes it impossible to participate in a Viome study when the app prevents access. I haven’t walked thru the rest of the app to see how it’s working.

Great improvements

I did two Full Body Intelligence tests 4 years apart. The increased details in the report for the second round was notable. This makes it more meaningful as I can study these pathways and see what else I can do other than diet modification, exercise and taking the recommended supplements.

Comprehensive app, but buggy

I received the test kit as a gift, was disappointed to find several of the questions during the “nutrition” portion of the survey on the app (with the 0-100 slider) would not respond to my inputs on my iPhone. Since inputing a number other than 0 is required to move to the next question, I just sporadically clicked whatever I could to proceed, making the number inaccurate. Need to refine the app.

Results Disappeared

*update* The link to my results is gone, and I have no way to access them. I tried the website and it’s exactly the same - no access to results. I’ve been robbed! I emailed the company (which is the only way to contact them), but the last time I emailed them they took a month to respond. They do not deliver on their promises. I DO NOT RECOMMEND. I just updated, and the new version crashes every time I try to view my recommendations. When I reopen the app it says my session timed out and makes me login again. Over and over. Major bummer. Please fix!

Scary

I just bought one of their package, the experience was OK so far. Now that I was completed my samples collection, I have to interact with the app and the questionnaire part. It does not work. The questionnaire is looping on the same body measurements questions. If an engineering team cannot figure simple data collection on an iPhone app, I am quite scarred about the other topics that are much more complicated such security of my private data, respect of health regulations, accuracy of the analysis...

I’m so excited!

I have been battling with an auto immune deficiency for years now that has caused me to lose all my hair, I am also Nigerian, so most of the main foods in my avoid groups, are foods that I eat often! I’m excited to see how these changes will affect my overall health and my hair growth!

Wow, first app to make personalized diet recommendations based on science and customer data!

This app is great. Instead of guessing which one of the newest fad diets to follow, Viome tells you exactly what to eat and what not to eat, based on your personal gut microbiome. The user interface is simple and easy to follow. It’s also very cool that you get to see the results of the gut microbiome analysis.

Not inspiring trust - especially with DNA access

5 mins in. 4 crashes. I have only made it as far as the legal notice. 🙄 Have had to go back and start from scratch each time. Your app is the second step in building *trust* in your brand with your customers. Customers who are spending hundreds of dollars each. How do you manage the SECURITY of our entrusted private information if you cannot even make an app that you can get through the most basic step of registration? Where is our money going? It is not app development!

Love having my results at my fingertips!

I have found the app to be fairly easy to use and love the ability to track our sample and see results as soon as they are completed. Having access to the food list is extremely helpful while out shopping! Keep up the great work Viome and I look forward to many more updates!

Doing something right…

I immediately kmew you were doing something right when i saw the ;isr of superfoods. All are favorites of mine! I’m waiting for my retest results with high expectations. I did one thing different from Viome’s recommendations. I use the prebiotic, probiotic supplements as starter culture to ferment greens, fruits and A 2 dairy products. I do this most days.

Non operational app

The app is not crashing devs, your UI is not working right. When the questionnaire goes to pull up height measurements it stutters and doesn’t allow me to select anything. I see it pulling up but it doesn’t actually happen. I’m on an iPhone X Pro running the latest iOS. Additionally, a free design crit. 1) don’t use animations in your onboarding screen background if not smooth. Each loop it feels like the page is reloading. Distracting. 2) don’t prompt a user to enter address and then apt number without including additional fields to show they will input state and zip next. It won’t be clear and you’ll get a lot of full addresses in that first field. 3) smoother transitions between questions - I had to scan for some time before knowing whether my submission actually moved me to the next question - user feedback needed. Do better

Great concept if the app would work... which it doesn’t

Wasted at least an hour without even being able to register my kit. Bugs and errors and force app closings at every turn that would lose all info. Frustrating to say the least. Actually somewhat hilarious and shocking at how awful the functionality is, at this point all I can do is laugh. Get it together team. It’s the app is so bug riddled that unfortunately I could never recommend this no matter how good the actual test is until they fix the app. :(

Waste of Money

Everything about this experience felt like a means to an end: to sell supplements. No reviews about the product on their website, supplement plugs left and right — I should’ve known better. The results felt generic. I could’ve Googled ‘food that’s bad for gut health’ and whatever results came up would probably be exactly what Viome provided. Where’s the direct personalization or connection to MY gut? Wish I could get my money back.

App doesn’t work white screen

I downloaded then app and made my sign in and it immediately went to a white screen. I closed out and opened again. Same thing. Powered phone down and back on. Signed in still white screen. Thought maybe it was just my phone. Signed on on someone else’s phone still white screen. I have a iPhone 13 pro. Don’t understand why it won’t work. If they say download app to view results then app should work. Very disappointed.

Newest version still bad

I’ve been impressed with health results from my food recommendations from Viome, but have been totally unimpressed with their app! First version kept crashing and couldn’t see all the info on the screen. Tried reloading many times but gave up after awhile. Just reloaded newest version. From the very first screen, you can’t read all the info. The design/writing is very unprofessional. PLEASE hire some new developers! I want to order a retest kit, but this experience is really making me question their capabilities.

App functions do not work fully

The idea sounds great and I’m hoping the full experience turns out bettter than the initial impression. The app will not allow you to select options from any of the questioner surgery’s thy ask for your response in the check boxes. I tried everything from long holding the check box to double clicking to single clicking, nothing. I don’t know if this will affect my final result yet or not so I’m hoping it’s figured out ASAP.

Still no better?

I’ve taken a test with you a few years ago and it was a disaster because it took months to get the results back which kind of defeats the purpose of the test since my microbiome has changed by then. Since it’s been a few years I’ve given you another chance, thinking y’all would have improved, but now I can’t even register my new test kit. It won’t accept my acceptance of the terms. 🙄 can someone help me please?
