Fun and fair fitness!
Waybetter games really help motivate me. You can bet on yourself in fitness challenges along with other players, and if you meet the goals you win your money back, plus an equal share of what is in the pot from players who didn’t meet their goals. They have a lot of games for 10$, but if that isn’t enough to motivate you there are some for 25, 50, or 100. Upon winning you can cash out very easily though PayPal or leave the money in your account to wager in more games. I love that you are just competing against yourself- it’s a fun environment where people are cheering each other on. The game hosts and references are excellent. I can attest that the referees are fair and will personally get back to you if you have a question or a technical difficulty. When I started, they offered 10$ free with membership, and I built that up to 50$ in a few months of winning each game that I tried. The membership fee is well worth the motivation and fair play. If you are careful and play a lot of games it can pay for itself. I have slipped up quite a few times and am in the red, but I’ve seen health benefits that are well worth the fee. This ap adds fun to my fitness routine :-) try it out!

Great idea ruined with huge price tag.
Look I love this concept and I’ve participated in a lot of other apps with challenges like this where you have the potential to earn rewards. They work great. The problem is that this app costs $70 every 6 months (that’s almost $12 per month) and each challenge is about 2 weeks and you’ll generally win like under $2 every challenge you win. Soo.. Just to break EVEN you have to WIN (zero mistakes) 6 challenges every 2 week period. That’s a lot to keep track of.. and anytime you mess up, it costs you $10-20. The math just doesn’t math. Breaking Even isn’t motivating, it just makes me resent that I paid for nothing. Is not like the people running the challenges are super motivating or anything honestly.. And I’m discouraged that there is so little self care challenges. In all I love the concept but there are apps out there and communities that do the same thing for free or they take the free from a percent of the challenge winnings which means you can take on the challenges you want and not have to commit to so many just to attempt to break even. Again that’s just not motivating to me. I also think having a good community is everything with these things and I have not connected with their community much in my months here., most people don’t comment or interact. Other communities like this save costs by having the challenges user verified so you know the community is viewing everyone’s submission and they get to know each other more.

Pretty new but I am LOVING this app and I never write reviews!!!
There are so many fun and positive reinforcements. Convenient and fun ways to stay accountable for instance with my own journal logs and scale entries/photos. The best part is having a huge variety of games to pick from. And you’re not suckered in there. I was spotted my first game and on some you can back out and get a refund at the very beginning. You can also choose to enter a game with no money and just a accountability buddy at first to get you going. So fun a interactive and nothing usually works for me or excites me. But now I can bet on my myself winning to drink water and it even personalized a good steps a day goal for me based on my recent averages. So fun already and I have much to learn still. I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!! Told so many of my friends about it. Love me a good bet and love me some fitness goals/gains!!!!! I wish you the best and if you’re thinking about it,, hey try it out for the first week free and they even spot you $10 bucks!!!!!! Shedding a tear lol of happiness. (I love how the app keeps none of money- only the sub we way separate). Loooove okay I’m done now lol :) BEST WISHES

Horrible customer service not aligned with promoted health goals
Overpriced app with small payouts and after I experienced ONE connectivity challenge preventing me from submitting challenge updates while traveling, customer service offered no flexibility to submit activities late. I made huge effort to actually follow through on the activities, when typical submission process is entirely honor system based, and was still given no credit. Waste of time and money. Join Noom or another reputable incentive program, skip this. Update 8/7: Please note developers will take time to RESPOND TO BAD REVIEWS WITH LIES! I shared a connectivity issue with the app as soon as I completed the travel that prevented me from uploading pics and instead was told they can’t accept a picture proving 4+ hours of reading for a challenge that requires 15 minutes a day! And I thought I submitted the new picture of watermelon (funny, a single watermelon lasted me more than one day so I have multiple pictures - do you eat yours all in one day?) and they post about that on the internet instead of accepting a new one. The good reviews on here are probably all from their employees, like 5/6 of the good reviews I saw on Google - maybe spend more time working with your customers to achieve health goals and less trying to slander them on reviews! Then you’d have good reviews from someone who isn’t your CFO or a Product Manager.

Life changing
I have to give it 5 stars because it’s literally changed my life. I’ve never been this consistent with any health habits and since I’ve started I’ve been working out for 8 weeks, meal tracking for 68 days straight, learning new things, drinking water, and the list goes on. I’ve been investing in myself and actually succeeding and reaping the benefits with the help of this app. SUGGESTIONS: I would love for the games to be rated and payed out a bit faster because it prevents me from consistently working through games that start on Mondays. They payout is Tuesday and I miss a day so it’s hard to fix my schedule especially for games that require 5/6 days of participation a week. Some of the games are exclusive and I don’t want to miss out on a game that I would enjoy. At the very least we should get our investment back and wait for the bonus so we can sign up for new games and keep the ball rolling!! Looking forward to more new games this month.

Thinly veiled gambling
I thought I was joining a healthy eating challenge and paid $10 for what I believed would be an engaging and motivating experience and upon downloading and opening the app at the beginning of the challenge I was prompted to gamble with my own money by betting $20 against myself for completing the challenge and sharing the pool of money other users gambled with. Since I didn’t opt to gamble, at the end of the challenge I was declared a “winner” but offered no reward. With over 400 participants and a pool of less than $4000, had we all “won” our takeaway would have been less than $10 so you would essentially be at a loss from the $30 you had already paid out of pocket. I found this whole business model tacky and misleading. Not to mention the poor user experience offered. Each time you log into the app, to view the challenge you participated in requires additional clicks to navigate there. You don’t open the app and arrive at your own challenge feed. Instead there is a feed of all the other challenges happening and if you try to click to read more of the posts that appear you are prompted to pay even more money to become a member and ultimately to join and gamble on those challenges too. Unless gambling is your thing, I’d recommend avoiding this app.

I wanted to like this app…
I love to gamify life in any way possible, I also love the idea of holding yourself accountable and putting your money where your mouth is. This app had a lot of potential… However - from what I could tell in my short time in the app, users only have two options - pay $20 per challenge, or do it for free and ask a friend for accountability. The latter I can do without spending a $69 subscription fee, but $20 per challenge is just not feasible. Of course the idea is that you get the $20 back if you complete the challenge- but there are too many variables in life to guarantee you will be able to check in when necessary to ensure you get your money back instead of losing it. If there were more tiered options (such as $5 or $10 challenges) I would maybe have stuck with it, but $20 is too much to risk on something foolish going wrong. Normally I wouldn’t bother with a review, but be warned YOU MUST ENTER CREDIT CARD INFO before you can access the free trial and THEY WILL PUT A HOLD OF $69 on your card when you sign up. I canceled within 24 hours of downloading the app and there is a charge pending on my card for the subscription that should not have happened for another 5 days.

Economics of membership don’t make sense
The idea is good, but not executed in a way that’s usable for me: - it became unlikely that I would break even after paying for a membership. the economics of this app don’t shake out for the games I’d have like to wagered on. - you can’t join any games/make wagers or cash out on your sign up incentive if you are not a member, so without paying to play, the app is basically a brick - I will not sync my fitness tracker with this app because the privacy policy allows the app to share information with third party researchers. I don’t want to opt such personal data into research without knowing what the research is - all of the running games require you to sync your fitness tracker. would consider participating in those if I could upload a screenshot of my stats instead to avoid syncing all my data Edited to add that the concerning paragraph in their privacy policy is paragraph 15, since they replied to (incorrectly) say they don’t share your app info w third parties: Use of User Submissions for Research and Development Purposes: WayBetter may use photos, videos, and other user submissions for research and development purposes, including to train artificial intelligence systems (our own or those of third parties).

Put some skin in the game...Invest in yourself!
Wow. What a great idea! Turn weight loss into a game! I realize that the whole idea of making it a "competition" isn't for everyone, but it's more about finding that motivation, and knowing you're doing it with a whole community of people along side you! It's not a "win" or "lose", but it's extremely satisfying to get a few extra bucks in your pocket after successfully completing one of the challenges! The challenges can be pretty easy (drinking a glass of water a day), somewhere in the middle (journaling 3x/wk), or far more difficult (getting in a certain number of daily steps based on your average, then slowly increasing it). Just sign up already! You won't regret it! Oh...and if you don't feel like spending money to enter each challenge? You can always just tag a friend as an accountability partner...You just won't be in for any of the cash rewards from the pot at the end.

Remarkable, research-based, effective
There’s no motivator quite as powerful as money (for me at least). The team has always been very responsive when I’ve had issues, and this is the only program that I’ve been able to stick to thanks to the financial motivation. I do think that the support team/approach is a little too strict regarding exceptions for illness, connectivity issues, etc. as mentioned in other reviews, but I also understand that they have to uphold the integrity of the challenges in order for the financial motivation to be effective. As for others concerns about being charged for the service and not breaking even — no, you won’t break even. The subscription fee is just the cost of being able to access this research-backed and effective program. It’s a high fee, but comparable to other health program subscriptions (and for me, it’s been more effective).

Pushing 50 with buddy life and way too much weight!
I’m super enjoying this app, it’s helpful to motivate and inspire me as one always been competitive and at my age and stage it’s difficult to find the comradely to keep up the push and maintain the focus. Working in health care I appreciate all the scientifically baked methods and the way the app encourages you to harness them. I am in my trial period and just starting my first week of games but as soon as I signed up I started changing my ways and preparing and I’ve already lost 7 pounds before ever even starting the actual program and games! Truly looking forward to this journey and forever grateful for all who put it together and continue to contribute to its growth and my success. Thank you for helping me empower myself and lead a healthier example for my children and afford more time to enjoying them in all the ways I love to! Bless you all!

Great incentives to do what you should be doing anyway!
It’s funny how we often don’t do the things we should do, or DO do the things we shouldn’t do. Just establishing good habits or breaking bad ones should be their own reward - but alas it is part of the human condition that we self destruct (either actively or passively). Why this silly app with admittedly small rewards is so powerful is that you want to win real money, prizes, and bragging rights. You don’t want to “go it alone”. Now you don’t have to. Then something amazing happens - the real reward of a changed life starts becoming more tangible and it changes everything. And once you have victory in one are of life, your confidence grows and you’re hooked on self improvement. You discover that one little goal at a time, you can literally do anything.

Games Hosts Change Rules During Game-Lost Money
So I just started, it’s my second week. I entered 3 different games, and paid $30 total ($10 for each). The rule for one of them was to initially take a photo of myself on a scale once a week. I thought initially that all games would be similar by posting photos and comments almost every day (or every day), but I thought this was easy and great because I could definitely show results after one week. I was super excited about it. Today is Monday, I enter the game and I see that the rule has changed: I was suppose to log in every day. So, I automatically lost the $10 I gave for it (the people who log in every day win and split the sum of the money that were given by all participants). Great concept for an app, but I’m not going to be a part of a scam where a host decides to rip of hundreds of people to take all their money. And if this was some kind of a game glitch, then the host and the app should give the participants their money back (and I don’t think they will do that). Don’t subscribe to this app.

Used to be fun now company seems toxic
I love the push up game but the app glitches occasionally. Sometimes videos don’t upload properly and the way the user face is designed it’s easy to miss. This usually doesn’t cause too much trouble because I’ll catch it before I lose the game. But one time about a year ago I didn’t so i reached out to CS and shared my timestamped video and they’re were happy to fix it. However, the video failed upload again recently and customer service tone’s drastically changed. They fixed it as a “one time exception” but moving forward I would need to let them know by midnight the day the video didn’t post and a screenshot of the error message. There’s never an error message, the video just never shows up so good luck with that. Fix the bugs in your app instead of sending aggressive emails to your users. Combined with the obnoxious membership increase, makes me not want to use the app. From a user standpoint it feels like their company culture has changed.

App stole my moneys
The app stole my money. I submitted per usual, then the next morning my submission was gone. I contacted customer service, submitted the same photo that I submitted to the game every day per the rules . There was an entire hospital unit that witnessed me submit it cuz I was excitedly trying to get everyone on board with me because INITIALLY I thought it was a great app!!!! Then customer service says they can’t prove I’m not lying and the app takes my money. I submitted as much proof as I could possibly come up with. All the information from my fitness tracking app including the weekly trends, the dated photo, everything I have just short of just giving them my smart watch app login information. Which they probably wouldn’t have accepted anyway. I lost 50 dollars!!! And now 70 too cuz I’m so afraid and distrustful of this app, that how could I ever play a game again? I can never recommend this to anyone ever again. I told them I’ll be sharing my story everywhere and I meant it. I’m angry and disappointed!!!!

Not RunBet
I loved RunBet to keep me accountable while training for runs. WayBetter has expanded on that to offer other games - fitness, nutrition, mindfulness etc. In doing so, they have also removed the option to submit either a treadmill photo or a fitness tracker readout. There is one treadmill only game and everything else is fitness tracker. I hate that they have left out the option to mix and match throughout the bet. Sometimes the weather or circumstances make you have to use a treadmill for the day. Most of the bets have relaxed their time limits to 18 minute miles and I did see one game for walking (25 minute miles). While these are good additions, this is not RunBet any longer and I wish they’d go back to allowing either treadmill or tracker runs. I also wish the app was a little easier to weed out the bets you aren’t interested in now that they offer so many. Also, subscribing just to see the bets is ridiculous. You are already paying to join the bet??

Accountability in Spades!!
I was desperately looking for some way to be sure to hold myself accountable to drinking my water and exercising as I had fallen off the healthy lifestyle wagon a while ago and was struggling to get back on track. I was skeptical at first, but this app is exactly what I needed. I’ve been consistent for four solid weeks now by joining these games. It’s the small financial commitment that holds me accountable because I don’t want to lose my little $10! You get back your commitment money plus extra from others who do not complete the games. The games are not hard, they just make you do what you set out to do! I’m super happy with my results so far and I intend to keep playing the games so I don’t fall off again.

Love the app but…
The app is awesome and is a great motivator to get some workout and exercise in the routine. Have done some 3k miles since I have joined the app. Taking 1 star off as for only 1 time I have reached out to the referee in the game with a screenshot of the workout and the reply was I have both Apple health and Strava connected and it didn’t record my heart rate but since I had more days left, it’s okay to lose a day and should cover up another day. That sounds wrong if 1 miss makes someone lose some money but 1 miss from the referee not adding an actual workout(screenshots provided) is completely fine!! Might be a referee issue but is a bummer if that happens. Other than that, the app is still awesome and will recommend everyone who is interested in exercise but needs a little push every now and then.

FINALLY losing weight!
Admittedly the $10 sign on credit essentially requires you to pay for a 6 month subscription since the free trial is only valid for a week and all of their games go on for two weeks. However, I’m less than 3 months in and I’ve already made back my subscription cost AND LOST 20 POUNDS! I’ve tried nutrisystem, etc and this is the first thing that’s finally worked for me! This is also the first review I’ve ever written for the App Store after downloading hundreds of apps and it’s just because I want to make sure this app continues to grow and improve my own sake. If you’re motivated by by daily tasks, reminders and competition this is the weight loss app for you.

New ownership is NOT good!
I’ve been playing DietBet games for years and had fun with it, but I am done after receiving an email saying I need to submit a copy of my drivers license in order to get paid for games I have already won. The reason for this is supposedly security, but what about my security? A drivers license contains your photo, address, signature, birthdate, height, weight and other personal information. Yes, much of this can be gleaned from the internet, but I feel like handing over a copy of your personal ID is an invitation for identity theft. They say it is destroyed after they verify, but how do I know if they have done that? I don’t. I feel like this could have been adapted as a requirement to sign up for new games, if necessary, but to change the requirements midstream seems dishonest to me. After several attempts to get my money without being stripped of my privacy, I feel Im being held hostage. Way better is now WAY WORSE! I’m done!

Review from a serial quitter
I have downloaded 30+ apps trying to lose weight, and NONE of them have gotten me as motivated as this app. I’m a very competitive person, especially when money is involved lol, so this has been the greatest experience and has jump started my weight loss. I’ve always put my health on the back burner because I spend more time trying to hustle for extra cash (I’m a single mom) and usually skipped exercising and hit a drive through, and now I’m making sure I hit my competition goals. I can honestly say this is the best app I’ve ever downloaded because it’s mixing my hustle spirit with self love and self care which is a winning combination. DOWNLOAD THIS APP! You won’t regret it!

Too Focused on Weight - I Miss RunBet
I started using RunBet in 2017. I’d put up my own money as a commitment to follow a running program over a number of weeks. There was something so satisfying about watching the circles fill up as I completed my runs, and the community was so supportive. I didn’t complete every bet, but the games held me accountable and helped me to develop a love of running and a regular habit. When WayBetter took over, the first disappointment was that each game’s feed was filled with posts from the game host, not the participants. Instead of organic discussions of tips and real talk about challenges, the hosts would post silly conversation prompts that were usually ignored, at least in my games. The next disappointment was that there was hardly any variety in the running games offered. But this recent overhaul of the interface is toxic…. it is so focused on losing weight, even though there is an attempt to frame activities through a lens of “health.” I logged into iTunes to cancel my subscription and noticed that I must have been grandfathered in… I pay $16 a YEAR for mine, but the other options are $22 a MONTH or $69 for 6 MONTHS… now I understand the complaints of some of the other reviews. I can’t find a RunBet dupe for iPhone… I guess the business model didn’t work :(

Buyer beware! They don’t refund you for illnesses
This app is designed for you to invest money to “bet on yourself” for exercise (and other health-related activities). I have been using it for four months. It is fun to use until you get sick. They refuse to refund you for illnesses unless you have an “official doctors note.” Never mind the absolute throwback to high school sick policies, people with illnesses like COVID or the flu should not be going to urgent care unless they need acute medical care since the chance of exposing other patients is high. Plus, unfortunately in the US, a doctors visit is much more expensive than the investment in any of these “games”. Since I can’t predict the future or guarantee health for a two-week commitment, it isn’t worth it to me to continue using this app given their strict refund policy. I would suggest people interested in this app be careful unless they are willing to part with cash for unforeseen illnesses!

Finally seeing results while paying myself!
With WayBetter, I’m finally showing up for myself for the first time my life!! 💪 💗I have more self-respect, healthier boundaries, healthier diet, more consistency in my exercise routine, and a cleaner house!!🎉 I’ve been using the app for over two months, and it pays for itself. ♻️ I do find that it’s best to have 8 games going at a time (around $100 rotating in the app) and I get an average return of 10 to 13% back on each game. It’s the same $100 all the time, and accumulative winnings pay for the app subscription! 🤔I think the negative reviews here are the people who aren’t actually following through for themselves, and I’m getting their $.🤭 👉Over the years, I’ve paid thousands of dollars for specialized apps, therapist, body-doubling subscriptions, professional organizers, coaches, etc. and ended up having limited long-term impact. 🏆I’m finally breaking through the barriers while paying myself pennies- it’s almost comical, but I’m celebrating too much to laugh! 😃🎉

Too expensive to be worth it
This is a really great app! But as the membership is $130 every 6 months, ON TOP OF what you have to put in to your initial bets, it can get hard to actually make money. Yes I know you can use the money you’ve one as points on your next bet. But you have to wait a few days into the following week for those points to show up in your account, which gives you a late start / disadvantage to the next round of betting. I’ve been very diligently doing as many bets as possible, and now doing more expensive bets cause I’m killing it, but I’m still about only halfway to making back the money I invested in May. We will see how I feel at the end of the 6 months; but currently I would definitely not renew my subscription or recommend this app to anyone.

No customer service
Originally, I was going to cancel my membership in the app but finish the 6 months I paid for. When I went to do that the app wanted to end my membership now and not let me continue any more games. I reached out to customer service and was given a blanket ‘No’ Your membership will end immediately but you can finish your current games. I ask for a prorated refund which was ignored. There was no empathy or let me see if there is a way to make that happen. I don’t understand why if I pay for 6 months and decide to cancel I can’t finish the six months I paid for or receive a refund for the months not used. I didn’t receive customer service; there was no explanation or alternative offered. All I received was a regurgitation of what the app had already told me. I thought maybe it was bad timing and I’d try the app later but I will never use this app again.

Thanks for bringing back more tracker games
Previously used stepbet and loved it, and patiently awaited expansion of the app to include other workout-related challenges. I was disheartened when the expanded app required you to submit a photo of yourself for verification of completion of a workout as this is something I’m not comfortable doing, and I don’t think it’s an accurate verification means. Pleased to see more fitness-tracker verification games on the app now as that is how I measure and track my workouts anyway. That said, a lot of the non-running bets still require photo verification. I hope WayBetter will continue to support more tracker-verification games so that a wide variety of people can play with options that suit them.

Love it!
I’ve been a WayBetter member since January and have been using it as a way to hold myself accountable to my health. I play all of the different types of games, mainly focusing on fitness. The app has helped me build great habits and learn new skills, like strength training and running. I started running pretty seriously in February or March, beginning with interval running. I’m now at the point where I can run 5 miles consecutively (without run/walk intervals). I’ve gotten my 5k pace to a comfortable 11:12 minute mile, and I’m working to increase my speed, along with my distance. I love the running games because they force me to get up and do it!

Motivation and Community!
This app has helped me so much! Not only are there physical fitness goals, but also mental fitness and healthy well-being goals for you to choose from and participate in. The community is so encouraging and it’s not an app that pushes you to be perfect, it encourages you to be your best self. I love this app for the water intake goals, gratitude games, and fitness goals- there’s always a little bit of something for someone, with the added bonus that you can come away with making a bit more than what you started with- it’s a fabulous investment and I recommend this to anyone willing to try it!

100% Worth it
For anyone struggling to stay motivated on their health goals, this app will help. No one wants to lose their hard earned money, so when you put that on the line, you don’t forget. I’ve told anyone who will listen to me about this app. I love it! I recently finished a 6-week game that required a $100 buy-in, when I finished it, I got back $120! How cool is that?? I truly feel more motivated than ever to meet my step goal and get my strength based workouts in. I also really like the mindset and nutrition challenges. I love this app and the community within it is also really sweet, fun and supportive as well.

Building healthy habits
I like that the games are focused on building healthy habits instead of focusing on weight. Let’s be honest, we all know we’re trying to lose weight but just saying “ok you have four weeks to lose a percentage of your body weight” doesn’t really do anything. Instead, the challenges are activity based, like walking a certain amount per day or swapping out a processed food for a veggie. You will naturally lose weight by doing these things. It helps you make those small changes in your life that lead to real results instead of crash dieting.

Don’t waste your money
Not worth it. The “games” don’t help you lose weight, all you have to do is take selfies. The UI isn’t great and the customer support is worse. You also don’t win much money, so yeah, there are better weight loss apps out there. Edit: based on the response: the tracker games aren’t compatible with my tracker, so they don’t work for me. And I submitted everything on the correct day, except for one that had an error in the metadata from my camera but the game didn’t tell me there was an error, I had to contact customer support. And by the time they got back to me, it was too late to fix, so I lost my money. Because of an error that I couldn’t foresee and couldn’t know to fix. So no, I’m not going to give it another try, and it wasn’t my fault for submitting things on the wrong day.

WayBetter Games help keep me Active!
One thing I really love about way better is the accountability to stick with healthy goals. I said it keeps me active, it’s true, but there are also nutrition and good habit challenges to keep you on track. I have been consistently exercising, cooking, eating veggies, expressing gratitude, and decluttering my house (to name a few) through challenges - all things that help me develop good habits and keep promises to myself. I highly recommend way better to others who want to start and maintain holistic and healthy habits.

Scam.
This app forces a financial commitment to engage properly and promises “winnings”. What they don’t disclose as these can only be collected via PayPal. Their FAQ claims you can request a check, for a fee, but fails to provide contact options to do so. Additionally, if you decide to cancel… you can see the account but cannot use it/engage in games through the duration of your membership. Overall, I am out roughly $100 without collecting any “winnings” for less than 30 days use after determining it did not fit my needs. I wasn’t seeking a refund for the membership, simply collecting my “earnings” and the option to use for my remaining five months. Now I have determined this is a scam. Unless you’re sure you’ll use it and you’re comfortable using PayPal, you’ll likely end up out of pocket more than necessary with no recourse.

Turned into another social media app
I loved the premise of putting money on the line and found it super motivating. This product was nearly perfect in January. However after the new update it’s way more social-media style where you’re constantly asked to share publicly and that’s just not my jam. I bet it’s great for most but it’s not for me and I was frustrated that they and apple both refused to refund me for the remainder of my six month subscription. I was very happy for the first six weeks but wish that I’d been given the chance to refund the six month commitment with this new update. Bottom line; if you’re sociable and find motivation from like-minded people, you’ll love this. But it’s frustrating that they bait and switched and refused to let customers decide if it was still working for them.

still charging me after i canceled
i did one game in this app and canceled my subscription right after bc i didn’t like it and wasn’t going to use it anymore. i earned $12 on that game, and it’s been charging me $1.99 monthly even after i canceled and deleted the app. i didn’t notice since it was coming out of that $12 in the app for so long, then it started to charge my card? but it wasn’t charging monthly like every 3 months. very weird and suspicious. i went to cancel my subscription again just to make sure it didn’t auto renew, and I DONT EVEN HAVE ONE anymore but it’s still charging me. and the help section says i have to contact apple? don’t get this app if you aren’t wanting to be charged even after you cancel. luckily it’s only $1.99 but the cancellation process is a nightmare

Misleading
OK I’m in my early 20s so I’ve grown up with technology. This app, however, is the worst app to try to navigate through to use and understand on a daily basis. You have to use several apps in conjunction with this one. The instructions are not straight forward. When you submit a photo for proof it’s shown at first then disappears the following day. That’s dumb and feels like a scam (it could be a little bug that they need to fix but it feels like a scam) Not to mention I can’t even find the meal plan that I created to originally start the challenge. It’s not an easy app. It’s very confusing , prices are higher than most of its competitors for the membership. There are many other similar apps where you can earn a lot more and still actually do the work. I’m cancelling rn.

They won’t pay out
They won’t pay out if you have multiple email addresses (like most normal people do). If you don’t initially sign up for WayWorse using the same email address you use for your PayPal account, they will keep all the money you invested and won. They don’t tell you this until it’s too late. So unless you use the same email address for Paypal as you use for Facebook or Google, don’t use your Facebook or Google account to sign up for WayWorse. And even if you remember do that, this app really is not worth shelling out $70 every six months just to use it. UPDATE: WayBetter’s disingenuous response says they simply need me to confirm my PayPal account, and to just email their support team for more help. But I’VE ALREADY DONE BOTH MULTIPLE TIMES!!!!

It works!!!!
I have to admit I was very skeptical when I first started doing the challenges in this app. But once I got into the challenges, I found being consistent with my workouts. I even started challenging myself with more activities and above all I was enjoying myself. This app is a GameChanger if you struggle with how to have fun while you are bettering yourself! If you’re on the fence, just do it you won’t turn back but forward to your future. Bonus, money is a good motivator, bigger bonus I’m making money.

Love it!
I've been using the WayBetter app for a few months now. I've got to say, it's a game changer! The app makes setting and achieving my goals so much fun by adding a bit of friendly competition and you can even host your own games. The user interface is super easy to navigate, and the community support is fantastic – it feels like having a bunch of friends cheering you on. If you're looking to make some positive changes in your life and have a great time doing it, WayBetter is definitely worth a try!

UNHELPFUL
I love the concept behind the game. However, the app is not intuitive and doesn’t seemlessly connect with your listed approved devices. I completed a workout, using my Apple Watch, Apple Health, Apple Fitness AND Openfit (which is not an approved device as it is a third party app). Low and behold, the WayBetter app would not accept ANY data from ANY of those devices. So, I emailed support- their response was less than helpful. Everyone states that support will help you, and to maintain documentation to send to support in the event that this happens. Well, support won’t help you either. Good concept, poor support. This is copy and paste of their email AFTER sending documentation. “ Hi Kim, Thank you for reaching out and we're sorry for the trouble. Unfortunately, as our rules state, we are unable to honor third-party tracking devices. We can only honor activities performed on approved tracking devices. You can track your runs with Fitbit, Apple Watch, Garmin, RunKeeper, or Strava. You can also sync indoor treadmill runs with Fitbit, Apple, and Garmin. We apologize for the trouble. Please let us know if you have additional questions. Thank you,”

Money pit
The app still has bugs and glitches that interfere with how it tracks your progress. At first their referee team was very responsive and helpful, but if you ask them to refund too many glitchy challenges, they will treat you like you’re a scammer and stop replying to your emails even though you’ve spent money entering dozens of challenges already. You also have to enter (and win) a really high amount of challenges to earn enough to pay off the subscription fee.

Free week misleading
I started this last Sunday thinking I’d have the full week to try it. Joined a few games (that seemed like the only ones available to start, and were required to get anywhere) - and none of them started until Thursday. So I got 4 free days of nothing, then 3 free days to try. Seems ok so far, hoping the monetary requirement will motivate me more. Just warning anyone who joins that you’re free week isn’t actually a full week unless you manage to pick the right day to start. Was hoping to have 4 more days to decide if I want to spend $69 on this. Guess I’ll just have to deal and hope.

Great idea
I love this app a lot! However, I do think that same of the games don’t hold people accountable. For example, I have seen some people reusing pictures. I think that WayBetter should make it so that you are required to take a picture in real time (so not being allowed to check camera roll). It really is a bummer to know that others are “cheating” their way through games that others are working hard to win. Other than that, it’s a great app! I can’t wait to try out the cardio challenges that sync directly to my Fitbit- that will definitely hold me accountable.

Cancel Subscription
They’ve made It so complicated to cancel I’m sure many just let it go on charging. I read instructions and it keeps sending me to different articles on how easy it is. Was going to cancel because it is t something I want to spend my money and the $10 trial credit they give you is t enough to cover one game. EAS thinking of coming back but it feels abusive when they don’t let you off subscription. I really dislike companies that do this. Will not be returning. But good luck to all that start your weight journey with them starting is the first and hardest step. And hope this works out for you. If not you’ll understand my frustration at the moment.

Price is way too high compared to money you can win
I signed up after seeing a bunch of ads about winning hundreds of dollars from 15 games. That is literally impossible and false advertising. I have won 6 games so far and have won a little over $20. It is my goal to win back the $70 I paid for the six month subscription in the next 6 months. Even that seems unlikely at this point. Making a profit is definitely out of the question. The app itself is fun and is motivational but I am too upset by the blatantly false advertising of winning amounts coupled with the insanely high price to give it more than 2 stars.

SCAM ALERT
I have been using this app for a couple of months now, but it seems like every other game they fail me. I submit my photo for the day, I follow every step to the end where it says “thanks for your submission” and then the submission somehow disappears and they kick me out of the game and I’m out $25 or whatever it cost to enter. This is not a case of user error. It has happened to me on 2 or 3 games now. I have reminders in my phone set to remind me to submit my photos for the games I’m playing. They just want to keep my money instead of returning it to me when the game is over so they delete my photo submissions. I have the photos saved to my phone so I know that I submitted them. SCAM!!!

Falls short
It’s a good app if you’re wanting something to tangibly account for your steps. But you’ll pay $68 after a free trial of 7 days when most if not all challenges you pay additional money into are more than 7 days (so you’re forced to pay the fee before any return of investment can be seen. And each persons goals are varied. So even though my goal was 4 days at about 10k steps with one day of 12k steps (when there were some with less than 1000 steps) and I averaged 26k steps a day for 15 straight days, I “won” $22 for my total of $78 investment. Look around before dropping the money. There are other options.

Update brings damaging diet culture to formerly fun games
As someone who has struggled with diets, loosing weight, and the cultural expectations around this my entire life, I was incredibly disheartened to see this latest update. I’ve been working to establish healthy patterns for the sake of being healthy, not because I want a temporary “plan” or “program”. In doing so, I’ve lost weight. Now the first screen and homepage once again slaps me in the face with toxic weightloss messaging & pressure. When I want to focus on loosing weight, I join a DietBet. When I wanted to become more healthy, I came to WayBetter. Instead of encouraging healthy habits, WayBetter has joined the masses in this attempt to make $$ off our insecurities. This absolutely ruins the app for me.
