Great device. App could use few changes
I’m not an athlete. I’m a middle aged guy who needs to lose weight and get healthier. After exhaustive research of health and fitness devices and guides I decided to ge the whoop. I love the band and the metrics and data it provides, however, I would love to see some of the data presented in a way that is geared towards general fitness and wellness. I’m not an athlete and 99.9% of the app is geared towards sports and athletics. The data is the same it’s how it’s presented. I often feel bad becuase I’m not running 5 miles a day or engaged In powerlifting and that’s what the app pushes. I would like to see an option when you activate and pair the band which way you want the data and metrics presented. I would choose more Health and wellness oriented. Am easy Star would be letting users select and add activities. The band noticed I started an activity and asks me to log it but all the activities are sports related. That’s not the activities I’m doing so I never get to log any activity. The developers have an amazing product and good app they need to not omit a large percentage of people buying and lying for the subscription. Oh and I LOVE the AI coach. Awesome 👏

Hits and Misses!
I've been using Whoop for a year and don't think I'll renew my membership. Let's start with the Hits: good software and app that is both intuitive and easy to use. Whoop does a good job of simplifying the concepts of output (strain) and recovery to guide your effort on a day to day basis. It also enables you to determine impact of specific activities, food, supplements etc on your recovery (albeit you are tied to what Whoop deems important vs being able to create your own categories...a big miss to tailoring the experience to what is important to individuals vs what Whoop thinks you should track). Misses: 1/ the sensor is most effective in static situations (riding a bike) vs dynamic movements that hinder the sensor from accurate readings. The oblong optical shape is suboptimal and is easily disrupted during dynamic (arm movements) exercises. I've tried wrist and arm straps and the arm band and have the same issue. The sensor is finicky and I haven't found optional placement while working out. Ave workout HR is typically 5-10 bpm lower than other sensors. 2/ Also i haven't seen any correlation between recovery and quality sleep. I understand autonomic system but their recovery need to also account for quality sleeping not simoly HRV, resting HR and breathing rate. I've had 95% recovery and been very tired due to poor sleep. 3/ Walled garden... Can't share data with other apps / systems. 4/ no ability to customize categories for tracking impact.

Great stuff, feel odd without it now.
The data that this product provides is simply invaluable for anyone who really wants to fine tune their athletic performance. It’ll make you more conscious of everything you do and how different things you do effect your life. If you know how to read the data properly (which admittedly takes some time and research) and use it to your advantage you’ll make huge strides in your athletic performance. It won’t be overnight and it doesn’t make the work that you have to put in ‘easier’, but it assures you that you are taking the right steps towards achieving your goals and can tell you when you’re overworking YOUR body. The personalization is one of the best features of this product, for sure. It’s helped me get my diet even better, my sleep has become more important to me, I’ve realized that it’s okay to take break days sometimes, and I’ve realized that there is a certain type of lifestyle I need to live to truly achieve my goals. Thank you for the great product. It’s not for everyone but it’s the golden ticket for many.

I should have listened; now, I advise you not to make the same mistake.
Let me save you the headache and tell you what will happen if you sign up for and use this device. Firstly, you’ll use it for a month or two at most, enough time to figure out your bedtime habits. Then, you’ll realize the smarter choice would have been an Apple Watch, cheaper and packed with hundreds of functionalities, Whoop doesn’t do 1% of what an Apple Watch can do, plus, the Apple Watch it’s more accurate for sleep tracking than Whoop. After spending one to two months learning about sleep patterns, you might spend years trying to improve your sleep quality by just 5%. However, this won’t impact your life, and making the necessary rituals is not worth it. Secondly. It’s more challenging to cancel a gym membership than the payment plan with this company. Despite advertising the device as a simple subscription, it’s essentially a binding contract. You’re locked in for a full year, even if you’re not actively using the device and wish to return it. So charming WHOOP turns into a huge parasite that wants to live of you, even when you’re not using their product. Don’t make the same mistake. Opt for an Apple Watch and a $9 sleep app subscription until you find what works best for you. This way, you’ll save hundreds of dollars that you can allocate to other projects to treat yourself.

Uncomfortable, poor design, and just Ehhhh
I didn’t give them one because I feel like they’re trying but man,I gotta be honest, I’m a few months into it and I’m kind of over it. I have a few problems with it. First of all, I had to buy a new charger because I lost the original due to its loose fitting design making it easy to slide off. It’s a terrible design and half the time it wasn’t connecting to the strap giving it a charge. I always had to jostle it to get it to connect. Plus the charger barely holds a charge and need to be charged itself immediately. The monitor is big, gawky plastic, uncomfortableness tight fitting, and is impossible to sleep with on tho It was marginally more comfortable when I bought a different style band. but it’s just too big and gawky and can’t be worn slightly loose or else it won’t register your heartbeats. The price for wearing it in a way where it functions properly is to cut off circulation to your hand. As far as the app Idk I guess it’s alright, I workout a lot but I find that this really doesn’t benefit my performance at all and gives me information that I don’t really care about. My sleep was the only thing I really took away from it, but other, cheaper, and more comfortable bands do the same thing. Wish I hadn’t bought it. Won’t be continuing the $30/month. Getting something else and so should you.

Getting more seriously back into fitness and friends had raved about Whoop in past years. When I saw the vibrating alarm feature was added I hit the purchase button. Sadly, it wasn’t what I was hoping for. I love the strain approach and it was initially exciting. But at the same time I had also bought an Apple Watch and learned about the Athlytic app. Compared to the very limited visibility and benefit from whoop there was just no comparison. If the Whoop (4.0) was better designed to be super slim and unobtrusive it could have been a winner. The band design lets it kinda flip around if worn on a bicep and the device gets so warm for so long while charging that I got a nasty skin rash using the bicep band. On the wrist it was better but still limited. The vibrating alarm is jarring and when I reached out to customer service about it they were pretty dismissive and unfriendly (via text, the only way to communicate with them). I could go on but I’m in the process of returning the product and have been waiting a week for my return shipping label but still haven’t received it. The real opportunity here at a time when an Apple Watch can do all and way more is for Whoop to really embrace customers and evolve a product with their feedback. I’d certainly expect that for the expensive subscription model but that’s just not the way it is. Bummer.

Waste of money (poor HRV, no wgtlifting for Strain score, no feature updates)
I’ve been a member since 2018 and over the period of time I’ve noticed company moves at a snails pace when pushing out new features for the application. You still can’t see more than a weeks data on your phone. You can’t export anything. You can’t adjust the scales on the chart to see a longer picture (unless you load up the website). You can’t add moving averages. It’s like the company just cares about releasing it’s next version of the straps so they can lock you for another subscription and don’t really do much for the app except these bug fixes and performance optimizations. With the amount of funding they’ve received, I would've expected more features and app updates. But they are more concerned with the social aspect of the app which just gets more people to use the app until people realize that the HRV monitoring for your recovery is based on a couple minutes before you wake up so it’s not that accurate And the strain score is not able to accurately show the impact of weightlifting on your strain. Switching to the Oura, where I don’t have to pay a monthly fee for no features. ~$400 for 1x cost vs Whoop $30/mo or $360 per year for no new features (except a longer lasting battery LOL). I’m the sucker for paying $1k+ for Whoop when I could have bought another product.

Great service. Terrible when you want out.
First off. If you have tattoos on your wrists it will not read correctly. I’ve had my 4.0 for a year and haven’t updated the firmware once because I did and the sensors couldn’t read because of the tattoos. So they had to set me back an updated. Secondly. I cancelled through the different clicks and pages they make you go to. Then months later get an email that I’m set to be renewed. I had to jump through the same hoops to try and cancel on my own. Click the link and nothing loads. So then you have to live chat with someone and all they want to do is sell you on the product you don’t want and have already cancelled. During that time they ask if what else they can do, please just cancel my membership like I’ve done and now asked to do. It’s something that bothers me and leaves me not wanting to come back. Overall the data is great and is fun to know so you can see patterns and change habits to be healthy. When you’re in the green and feel great you can learn what you did the previous day to get to that level. Which creates good habits. I don’t know that I need to spend another 300 for the year for that now after 15 months.

Whoop is amazing! Life changing!
I have been a competitive cyclist, gym rat and yogi for years. I’ve also trained with coaches for years. That being said the data Whoop provides is simply astonishing and unmatched. This is ground breaking technology. I understand it takes time for the strap to truly understand each individual’s needs and biometric rhythms. Tech support and podcast are amazing to help understand as you dive deeper and deeper into the data. Also inspiring to have better life habits in general. Anyone who doesn’t like this product is either too anxious, doesn’t completely understand the merits or simply not the right candidate. Again this is life changing and should not be overlooked from the most competitive elite athlete to the weekend warrior. Kudos to Whoop, after only a short period of time I cannot picture a time in my life where I wouldn’t be wearing this strap and extremely interested and intrigued by the data provided which has never before been available on any level, up to the minute in one’s hands. Thank you thank you thank you 🙏❤️🧘!

A little expensive but the best in the biz
Started using whoop back in 2021 and loved it - but after a year I cancelled my membership. Thought Garmin or Apple Watch would be a nice alternative due to no subscription cost, but I eventually came back to whoop for one reason: how the data is utilized. No one even comes close to whoop in terms of making data useful for the average person and presenting in an digestible way. So instead of just HRV metrics, it’s also how recovered you are. It’s not the most helpful for lifting sessions, but you don’t really need it for those anyway. Much more useful to track lifestyle changes outside of the gym and how they are effecting your health. Utilizing the morning questionnaire (journal) is where it shines. Track a few activities that are important to you or that you would like to evaluate and see if they effect your rest/recovery. East example: for me having a positive outlook averaged a +4% positive recovery as opposed to days where I logged the opposite. Interestingly enough, days where I took my “daily greens” only had a negligible effect of around 1-2%. Expensive, but also one of a kind currently

Surprised by the negative comments
I am 1 yr in to my Whoop experience and am surprised to read all the negative reviews. I have had an overall excellent experience and as an active 56 yr old multi sport recreational athlete (mountaineering, climbing, ice climbing, kitesurfing/skiing, sailing, paddle boarding, cycling, skiing, flying, regular gym +a few) I have found the whole whoop experience extremely useful. A couple of hardware issues at the beginning were addressed quickly by a replacement strap and have not had problems since. Suffering from Sleep Apnea means sleep data is important and whoop is the best I’ve used (and I’ve tried them all) and correlates (unofficially) well to the random sleep clinics I have done. As an ex- world class athlete, I enjoy the extensive data and awareness it brings to my “state” and the quick tips are great food for thought. I have always had answers from customer service through mail within 2-3 days, and the new UI is a great improvement on an already excellent years worth of experience. Thanks

Whoop has made such a significant positive impact on my life.
When I subscribed to Whoop, I could’ve never imagined how big of a difference it would make to my life, as far as my overall health, wellness and fitness goes. It has given me an entirely new perspective on how every aspect of my day to day activities correlates with my health and recovery - even far beyond exercise and workouts. I’ve learned about the importance of quality sleep, which has lead me to better understand which routine habits improve the quality of my sleep, which habits hinder the quality sleep, and how much control I truly have on the way my body performs and recovers. I could go on and on, but the proof is in the pudding. The reviews don’t lie. This is a game changer. As far as the app goes - it’s great. I can’t think of anything about the user experience or functionality to complain about, especially considering the constant improvements being made to the app, new features (incl. new tracking insights for weight training, a newly added Stress Monitor - just two new features I’ve seen other users get recently, which I am PATIENTLY ANTICIPATING - cough cough, Whoop :)) Overall this is a great tool for anyone who cares about their health. I am by no means an ‘athlete’ or anything of the sort, yet my Whoop provides me with the same high-level insights that elite athletes use to improve their performance, and I use that to improve my health exponentially.

Battery Life Is Great . . . Still something missing
I’ve been using my whoop for 6 months now. I purchased it to track sleep as my Apple Watch doesn’t have the battery life to avoid a charge every night. The ability to charge the bracelet while wearing it is a HUGE advantage. Improvement needed. I do track my workouts, however I often forget to end them as I also use other apps such as strong during my workouts; meaning too many things going on to remember to turn on and turn off selected activities every time. The device should recognize nonactivity and suggest I end an exercise. Would also be nice if it recognized strain and suggest I turn on an exercise. Suggestions would be nice in regard to improving strain and recovery. I still have no idea how to improve recovery and maximize strain. The sole suggestion is bed time, which I have found is not always the solution . . . Remembering to choose sleep in the app as an activity would be nice to avoid as well. I bought the year subscription . . . As of now I don’t plan to renew without improvements.

Works for me
I’m not a high level athlete, but I exercise a lot and more importantly, I work in health care treating a whole range of difficult and complex conditions and health problems. It can be tough identifying the impact that small lifestyle factors can have on different people. I got the strap to see improved data on how my longer term health was being impacted by small daily choices. Turns out meditation does more for me than I thought, while alcohol has a seriously negative impact on my HVR, even in small amounts. I’m using a lot of different tools to identify small nuances in patients that can lead me to optimize their long term health and when I started doing research on HVR it sounded like a great tool. I recommend the whoop strap to my patients who suffer from unusual conditions characterized by unexpected flares. It can be really helpful to identify the subclinical factors straining homeostasis in the system.

Very Frustrating Connection Issues
I enjoy the metrics and analysis of my workouts. The app is complex and takes a bit to get the hang of but is overall user friendly. However, the rate at which the strap looses connection with the app is unacceptable. Dropping a connection here and there isn’t a big deal but my strap drops connection multiple times a week, even multiple times a day. Again maybe not a big deal but the fix usually involves me having to cycle the power on my phone for the strap to reconnect. When I have to do this multiple times a day it becomes an issue! Also on the personal diary for Recovery (which I think is valuable input) there are some screens that I just ignore at this point. For example if I take prescription medication every day it becomes a nuisance to input time and dosage EVERY day when the information never changes. Plus if I take multiple meds at different times at different dosages and there is no option for this. There should be a way to store dosages when the journal is set up.

Wildly inaccurate data
Their data is inaccurate and they have terrible customer service— don’t waste your money on this gimmick. I used Whoop for 4 months, and after the 1st month I noticed some of the reporting statistics on my sleep were incorrect. I reported the problem to Whoop, and they said they would fix it (however, they never did). At this point I was concerned that much of the sleep data was inaccurate, so I used an EEG device and compared the results to my Whoop — it seems Whoop has trouble distinguishing stages of sleep, especially deep sleep/slow wave sleep. This was concerning because your day score is based on your heart rate variance in the last few minutes of slow wave sleep. Given that Whoop inconsistently measured slow wave sleep, the day score number is nearly meaningless. Since Whoop didn’t provide the accurate data they promised, I offered to return the product and asked to stop my subscription. After a month of asking their customer service to stop my subscription, I finally had to go to my credit card company to stop payment. I would suggest staying away from this company.

I don’t understand who this is for, and app feels unpolished
I’ve been using the Whoop and the companion app for a few days now, and so far I’m unimpressed. The setup experience out of the box was confusing and the instructions were vague (it turned out that my whoop was not charged, but you I would never know that from the instructions in the box) I charged it up and have been using it to track my workouts - the app is cluttered and doesn’t do a good job of explaining what anything means. Also, if you are in a workout there is no way to look at the rest of the app that I can tell, you have to look at your workout stats too. I also don’t understand why each workout takes so long to process + why I need to manually click a button to process my sleep, this feels like something that should happen automatically. If you’re already a fitness influencer maybe this is a good device and app for you, but so far I have been unimpressed. I will update if anything changes

Horrible Product, even worse customer service
i never write reviews in the app store, but this seemed like an appropriate time because of the money i wasted. this product is absolute garbage and does not work for more than two weeks. i have revived two new whoop devices, and they have all stopped working. i have received 2 new charging units, but they don’t seem to charge my whoop devices. i regret ever spending money on this and now i am paying for a subscription i can’t even use. i have never been more furious with a product until i met whoop. the sad part it i really loved tracking my sleep and running, and sadly i have to now find a product that won’t break on me. the customer service takes days to respond, and they blamed the coronavirus as a reason my package showed up 2 weeks late. absolutely no respect for their customer; this product is a complete rip off, and it’s not a coincidence that Joe Rogan stopped talking about it after a while, he knew the product was garbage. they must have bots writing these reviews because in no way has my experience been a 5 star experience

App disconnects a lot ☹️
I love the idea of whoop but its benefit relies on accurate data to give you usable information and unfortunately the app disconnects from the strap on a regular basis since 4.0. Sometimes it takes a few hours to notice or if it happens while you sleep, up to half a day. You have to reboot and have no data for that time. Which means you don’t have a recovery score or maybe you’ve missed a workout. Every time I’ve reached out to customer support, they get back to you in a few days, blame it on firmware, and suggest a reboot or update. This happen to both my and my husband’s whoop so it’s not a “me” thing, and I can see other reviewers also experience it. We have also noticed our full battery charge almost never makes it to five days. We recharge every 3-4 days. We also invested in the clothing which works great, but that investment of over $1k between the clothes and membership and upgrades means the inconsistent data is not worth the price.

New layout worse
I don’t like the new design at all. Starting with the alignment of the rings. By moving it from the middle is kinda lost it’s importance to me. I feel like I’ve stopped wanting to look at it. And now you’ve taken way to much space to show the same information. I dislike having to scroll and where things have been moved. For instance starting an activity or answering your journal was placed much better before and didn’t require an extra click. To make it worse I’ve lost the ability to know if I answered the journal or not. The Icon doesn’t change like it used to indicating a completed journal. I’d be interested in the usage rate post design changes. I know I’ve stopped using the app as much on how much I dislike this new design. I would consider giving us an option for a compact view and moving around some things. Reduce the need to scroll so much. And center the rings!! It’s the most important feature of your app and you’ve made it irrelevant. Everyone of my friends that use whoop agree. Hope my feedback is taken into consideration. Thank you.

Worst customer customer support
I took a month trial and was still on the fence on whether I should move ahead with a subscription. I’ve decided to return a device while I’m still considering the options. I then decided to go ahead and “renew” my subscription which I proposed right through the app. Of course, there was no mention about any extra charges when I selected a $30/mo option. When inquired with their support on the device shipment they said that I had to pay $175 for it or prepay for the annual sub. Which would have been fine, if it was clearly stated at the time of the purchase from the whoop app. Upon explaining the situation, they’ve stated their ground and basically tried to force me into paying extra. I had to waste time and dispute the transaction through my bank. This is very unfortunate as I did like the app and a device. But because of their serious issues with customer support, I doubt I’ll ever be their customer. They should learn the lesson to be willing to work with their clients instead of forcing them into something.

Whoop needs to do better for long term members
Whoop is a great app but way too expensive! The worst part is that the longer you use it for, the more you pay for it. This is a great model for making money, but not for consumer satisfaction. This is especially true when there are other wearables on the market that don’t operate on a subscription model. I have had my whoop for 2 years, which has cost me $720 in subscription fees. I can buy a better, more complete wearable with every feature known to man for that price AND it will last a lot longer than 2 years. I have asked them to have a loyalty rate whereby after a certain time of membership, your fees decrease. But since they are only worried about gaining new members and the rate of new membership is outpacing the loss of membership, they don’t care. It’s only a matter of time before all of those new members realize how much this costs them in the long run. It’s just really sad because I really do like the service, but am going to leave for a different product solely based on the business model.

App disconnects from strap
When it works it’s great, and the way it’s supposed to work is you keep the app open on you phone, when you and your strong are out of range the strap’s Bluetooth connection (obviously) disconnects and when you/strap come back in range if your phone, the strap should reconnect (and update the app with the data since it’s last connection). Unfortunately too many times the strap does not reconnect to the app, leaving for LONG periods of disconnect, where the only way I’ve found to reconnect the app is (a) turn Bluetooth off on my phone then back on, then (b) restart the app on my phone then (c) wait about an hour for the app to catch up some the last connection. Yesterday the strap lost connection around 530p. I wake up and like to check my sleep data.....to the disappointment of the strap being disconnected. So I did the above and now I’ll wait and hour or so for the strap to synchronize data to the phone app since it’s last connection at 530p yesterday. I have all current firmware and updates too.

Demotivating
It’s been about a month. WHOOP and I have been getting to know each other. I found the first few weeks to be very demotivating because my Apple Watch seemed to give me a more accurate feedback for the intensity I was putting out during workouts. I am guessing this band would work wonderfully for semi professional or professional athletes. For example, I had an hour and a half of intense strength training and it said I burned about 100 calories. Mind you, I often had to catch my breath. I was sweating. It was a fabulous workout. But when you look at WHOOP, it’s like whoa. So low. A 3 mile brisk walk only burned 100 cal and I was out of breath and sweating the whole time because I take my fitness seriously and the whoop was like “sorry buddy try harder next time.” I guess I need to kill myself in order to get a strain or burn calories? Now my partner has slightly high blood pressure. So when she works out, her strain numbers are astronomical. On the positive, I’m working harder. So that’s a good thing right? I did realize that I could push myself harder, which was really good——for that reason alone I’m keeping the WHOOP for the entire year of the subscription with purchase of the band. However, at this point, I’m not sure that I would re-up once my subscription is done. Ps. Why can’t they use a Pedometer? It would be wonderful because we wear it 24/7?!

Highly recommend
I have been using WHOOP since the beginning of 2020. If you like data, if you like analytics, if you like numbers, and you want to improve your game in whatever activity you do, this is the number one fitness band out there. Over the past two years I have seen my analytics improve and improve over the months and now years of being consistent and trying to get better at achieving my goals. It’s unbelievable to see the analytics and see how I am improving…whether it’s sleep, recovery, or activity strain. And finally, they are a great company, their customer service is excellent and any issues I’ve had with my WHOOP they are there to satisfy my needs and I can’t say enough about how great the company and the band are. Go out there and try WHOOP for yourself!

Frustrating to the Extreme
I really wanted to like Whoop. I’ve listened to several of their podcasts and have no doubt they work hard and mean well. But this device has failed to be consistently useful. Not only does it focus very heavily on extremely short term information, but it also showed extreme fluctuations in my HR - sometimes hitting 160bpm just doing dishes. The daily strain would often be totally overstated. The latest update seems to tamp down the HR spikes but they still happen. More importantly, the HRV and therefore the recovery scores can fluctuate like crazy. And if you suffer from any anxiety about sleep this thing can make it worse. The straw that broke the camel’s back for me was when Whoop told me my recovery was GREEN (114pt HRV) at 1am, then YELLOW at 6am (70pt HRV). This happened the night before my goal race for the year and really messed with my mental game. I have no confidence in Whoop and do not intend to continue as a month to month subscriber after my 6-month commitment (insult to injury) expires. They have a super slick app, and super slick CEO, but the support is non existent and living with the Whoop can make you go nuts.

3.0 strap was good but 4.0 is unreliable
I’ve been a member 2+ years and didn’t experience any problems until I “upgraded” to 4.0 strap. It constantly disconnects from my phone and I can tell my exercise metrics have been down 20% or more. They sent a replacement that didn’t remedy the issue. I have even replaced my phone in this time hoping if would help. I reverted back to my 3.0 while I waited on the arrival of the 4.0 replacement and strain returned to normal levels. I should have known it was going to be a half baked product when it was delayed 4+ months due to “supply chain issues.” I understand there was a chip shortage but I now believe this was just an excuse. I will say support has been good about adding weeks or months to my membership while they work out the issues, but what’s the point if the product continues to provide faulty measurements for 3 months now. I will be using the 3.0 strap for the remainder of my membership then will be moving on to a different company

Very good, but occasionally frustrating
The WHOOP is a very useful tool. I've used it for almost two years -- the sleep numbers have helped me become healthier and fitter. I've also enjoyed tracking my strain of various types of workouts. This has helped me understand the workout's effect on my body. The frustrating part is the app. Occasionally an update will happen, causing parts of the app to break. For example, my app is somehow a day behind -- I live in Singapore, so we are 12 hours ahead, but my WHOOP shows the data from yesterday. It seems like the company is going through growing pains with the release of the 4.0 and the injection of a bunch of money through the latest fundraising round. I hope Will and the rest of the team can get it sorted -- keeping the core functionality of the WHOOP while adding more and better integrations.

Alright I’ll be honest I was skeptical about this product working because I had an Apple Watch that I use basically every day.. well 2 months later I can tell you they work completely differently and this thing is the real deal. This isn’t out to tell you how many calories you burned or miles you walked or how much you can lift. It’s meant to show your RECOVERY and cardiovascular fitness. It is constantly checking your heart rate and matching it up with the activities you do so it knows how hard you’re pushing. Want some examples on how freaking cool this is? -for a few weeks I manually went into the app and logged my weightlifting workouts (logging isn’t necessary it knows how hard you worked during the workout anyway because it’s always monitoring). Now, I don’t even have to log it. I go lift and then 30 mins later it notifies ME saying that it logged a weightlifting workout. Also: did my third ever cycling workout wirh WHOOP today and it notified me a few minutes after saying that it logged a cycling workout. It also knows when I do abs because those aren’t logged as lifting/cycling/etc. it logs them correctly. And the sleep analysis is second to none. Freaking love this thing.

WHOOP 4.0 - Exceptional sleep staging & actionable insights
Love the new redesign of the app. The UI is much more pleasing aesthetically, and this design is primed for the addition of new features in the coming weeks/months. WHOOP 4.0 provides actionable insights that aids profoundly in dialing in my sleep and overall wellness. I find the sleep staging to be the most accurate of any wearable that I’ve tested. As they incorporate insights from their acquisition of PUSH, via updates to their algorithms & firmware, I’m excited to see improvements in the way WHOOP tracks anaerobic activities such as weight training. Furthermore, whereas every other subscription/membership is increasing prices, WHOOP has added immense value while keeping their monthly rate the same and lowering prices on thier annual/2-year plans.

Inspiring Every Day
I’ve enjoyed Whoop for almost 2 years. As an older gentleman I found myself in “couch potato” shape and in need of some sort of motivation. I read how my hero’s were using this device to really understand their healthy habits, and boom, I got whoop. Since my first day I’ve been hooked. I now understand what it takes to perform and I’m proud to be working out like a demon along side many of my PGA athletes. I can truly say it’s made me feel as strong as ever and if this is possible, I’m physically stronger than I’ve ever been. Seeing the strain guidelines Whoop provided keeps me going and exceeding my own expectations. I can’t recommend this enough for people that find themselves looking down at a rounded belly and a desire to be strong snd healthy.

Awesome Tool for Runners Who Like to Push It
I love running marathons feelng light and strong - pushing my limits! I do not like couching an over-training injury. Since Dec 2016, the data from my Whoop allowed me to make better decisions on when and how hard I push it when running. Getting the right information on my strain, HRV and Respiratory Rate as well as feedback on how my lifestyle choices affect my performance I believe is the main reason I am making the right decisions for my fitness so I can run faster, harder, and longer than I did 15 years ago. Plus stay injury free! Since 2016, I really like finishing races in the top 25% of the total runner field regardless of age or gender. Thanks Whoop for helping me view age as just a number and not a limit!! 62 and running strong!

Post Activity Survey Quit Working
My post activity survey has quit working for the weightlifting activity. Contacted Customer Service to report and after having to prove that I’m not an idiot and that they don’t actually read the complaint emails. I finally received a response that said they are aware of this issue and that they are working on a fix which likely be in the form of an update. Well guess what? Surprise surprise it has been 2 updates later and even a firmware update for the device and the issue is still not resolved. I would report it again but would rather run head first into a brick wall than have go through Customer Service (They really are useless). It would be really nice if the features of the app worked when you needed them. They say they use this data for future Strain consideration. So by not being able to add it I’m not getting the best out of the app or device.

Almost awesome- women’s health lacking
This app and band are sweet. I like being reminded when I need to go to bed, I like seeing how strained I am, as sometimes I just am strained from work! Whoop helps me make more notice of my body. My only complaint is how unintuitive the period cycle tracking is. I am 26 and like to keep track of my period in an app as well as a traditional calendar at home. The way to track your period is in the “journal”. It’s unintuitive as it is unclear whether you need to select “period” each day, and it is unclear how to edit the dates later on. The period function is important as it suggests your needed recovery depending on where you are at in your cycle. So not being able to edit period dates later on is frustrating. I am actually on day 28 but the app thinks I’m on day14, and I can’t figure out how to change it. I know this is a whole book lol, BUT! If this function of period tracking was easier, this app would be perfect. There are tons of period tracking apps out there that are simple and easy to use, I just prefer all my health stats in one streamlined app. Hopefully the team can see this and help other women who want to be more aware of their cycles too

90% Perfect
Whoop has definitely contributed to a healthier, more insightful self. The app & device are excellent, but there are a few tweaks that could be made. -Addition of Apple Watch complications for battery remaining, strain, and recovery would be appreciated. -Setting a default “activity” & “location” so that you don’t have to edit activity every time. Set the activity detected survey to appear after editing the activity & location vs before. Right now you have to complete it twice. -Allow the alarm to be set on a recurring schedule. -Allow the recovery goal to be set on a recurring schedule. Allow for the alarm to wake you “while in light sleep, if in the green, no later than ____ this time”. -Keep menus in consistent places: they move throughout the day which is confusing. -Include health monitor readings in weekly/monthly reports -allow for on-demand O2 readings & skin temp readings. -make a “today” button, but don’t default to “today” if phone locks. -more consistency with turning phone sideways to see overview. Sometimes it does not work.

Lots of potential
I like the app interface a lot, east to figure out right away, work flow makes sense and I know they are going to add more features in the future. Not 100% sure about the monitor though. I was awake two hours in the middle of the night with my infant and it didn’t register it for recovery and sleep. The monitor itself is large and bulky. I hate wearing it and I feel that something you need to wear 24/7 should be light and minimal. Or even putting a clock on it would be helpful and make the bulky-ness worth it. I’m sure they are working on this as each new monitor gets smaller and smaller. Lastly integration with other applications as we all hate having a million apps for single-use features. Seems like they are working on this as well. Other than that, I think it has a lot of potential.

Charging me even after my subscription ended
Last April I decided to give whoop a try. I figured I’d do the 1 month subscription and see how the device would work in conjunction with my fitness journey. Once I got it, I realized it didn’t track very well. It almost never picked up my fitness activities and logging each one individually was not something I wanted to do. I figured no harm no foul. I won’t continue using it. I didn’t renew my subscription. Come to find out, whoop started charging me again in August and have been charging me monthly since then. This was 2.5 months AFTER my subscription should have ended. When reaching out to the help line I was told it’s a 6 month subscription. My email verifying my purchase clearly states 1 month. It’s crazy to think that I’ve paid $360+ for a device I discarded and discontinued. They’re only willing to reimburse 2 months. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME. The device is crap. And the service is even worse.

Still a disappointing experience
My current coach asked me to use Whoop primarily for sleep tracking. It’s surprising there have been so few improvements to the app experience in the past years, both technically and in the UX. Syncing is clunky, screens are unnecessarily complex and navigation is poor. Still mostly useful just for cardio workouts. It doesn’t accurately capture training load for strength, which could lead to inaccurate recovery goals and — by Whoop’s own claims — overtraining and injury. Whoop is not a coach and does not provide stellar data for coaches. See what pro teams are actually using. That tech will eventually come to mainstream athletes and be worth the money. I started using Whoop when the v3 band had just come out. Not many improvements since then. Without genuine focus on the product/service side, Whoop is mostly a brilliant vehicle for marketing and monetization.

It’s not for everyone
To be completely honest, I’ve been more than pleased with Whoop in the past. When I was a single man with little responsibilities, whoop gave me information about my body that proved invaluable to me. So much so, that I signed up for one full year. After now two children, the purchase of a home, and a side business along with a full time job, it goes without saying that I’m a very busy man. I purchased a second year and my experience was less than satisfactory. With new tattoos where my wristband was placed, it didn’t read well. Im constantly incredibly busy, and due to my inability to utilize it as effectively as last time, I elected to cancel. They refused to refund me any of the extra 10 months I had left (I only requested half of what o initially paid) and they nicely told me to kick rocks. I’m greatly disappointed with the era of subscription based business model, and Whoop exemplifies that. 1/5.

Bad product
I bought this band hoping to track my sleep and workouts. I can’t speak about the accuracy of the sleep but It seems ok. What is not ok is recovery tracking. It’s absolutely awful. They use an algorithm with multiple inputs to calculate your recovery aka your body’s readiness to take on strain. Their algorithm however is horribly flawed. I and several of my friends have experienced the same issue where the band will sometimes think you are awake when you wake to use the bathroom after a couple hours of sleep. When you correct your wake time the band will recalculate and add the several additional hours of sleep. The problem is usually your score drops significantly. So the band says I’m very recovered after 2-3 hours but if I fall back to sleep and end up with 7 or 8 hours I’m much worse off. It’s clearly wrong and they know it is. They are trying to work on a software fix but until they have it I would avoid this flawed product.

Needs Apple Watch app & strength refinements
Been a user for years. My favorite fitness tracker platform. The strength trainer has been a game changer! I know it was the first iteration, and with that in mind it is a wild success. However, do hope their are some refinements to it. 1. Being able to edit workouts or change/delete lifts after they are done is a must. It is too easy to start the wrong lift on accident. 2. There should be a very basic Apple Watch interface to start/stop sets. Failing that, being able to triple tap (or something) the whoop itself to start/stop would be good enough. Having to do all this with phone is tiresome and slows down the workout. Especially painful during supersets. 3. When closing out a workout, the default should NOT be set to save changes the workout. There should be an option to “save this as a new workout.” 4. We should be able to duplicate workouts. Not related to Strength Trainer, but the app more widely, the sliders are clumsy/imprecise. Scroll wheels or +/- buttons should be used imho.

Zero Customer Support Won’t Hold a Charge
Ok, so I spent what, $300 for the full package. Was extremely happy in the beginning, but am now furious. After three complaints I have never received a response. Not a word. You can’t leave a review on their site. Their phone support says send an email and hangs up. The strap used to go for five days, now about two. It goes dead at night so I lose my sleep data and recovery status. Of course they just had a sale on extra battery chargers — why? Because the straps stop holding a charge. They sucked me into buying one but I don’t see why I should have to use two battery packs to charge the strap. Now one pack only gets it to 80%. My first complaint was why I get white lines on my skin under the sensor laser. They look like scars. No response. They just got another $100M in financing. This whole thing will collapse if they don’t address they charging issue and take better care of their customers.

Not intrusive- Goldilocks tracking
I love data, and using it to make better decisions. I love being able to see results and switch tactics or even bigger strategies. But I hate logging in apps, it’s annoying. Whoop makes it a simple 30second process that is part of my routine, and if I don’t get to it til evening, no sweat. The band doesn’t have any superfluous or excessive alerts, no distractions. I just forget it’s on. Battery life is great, easy to just pop on the battery charger every 3-4 days. I get the data I want, I get the support I need for tracking the things I’m interested in, all in a comfy unobtrusive band and app. Best wearable I’ve had.

Great data. Terrible heart rate monitor
I love the data provided by whoop. I really want to love the whoop. So much so that this is my third year having one. The problem is that all of that great data is dependent on a good heart rate reading and the whoop is inconsistent at best when reading heart rate and will not pair with a dedicated heart rate monitor to allow you the most accurate data. For example, I just finished a 20 minute workout and whoop missed 5 minutes of heart rate data. That’s a quarter of my workout unaccounted for. I’ve tried loosening it, tightening it, every imaginable wrist position and location. I’ve tried the biceps band and now the biceps sleeve. All equally inconsistent. A want to love it so much. Rumor has it the 5.0 may be out soon and I hope they fix the issue with that one. If not, I’ll have to shop for another product

Almost worth five stars
I love everything about the device. It so much more comfortable to wear when weightlifting than my Apple Watch. The software is clean and easy to use. The major drawback I found is with the strength trainer function. I currently use the SmartGym app for my lifting routines because it allows me to easily adjust workouts on the fly and it quick and easy to log sets with automatic rest timers. The Whoops workout are clunky and having to hit start and stop for each set is a pain. Especially when you forgot to start/stop it and don’t notice till after the set. Also the fact you can’t create custom workout for machine/movements that are not in their database is ridiculous.

Meh at best
Pros- Honestly can’t think of any. Cons- It appears that you are locked into a 6 month minimum membership unless you return it within 30 days of purchase, of which you still have to pay return shipping fees on top of the initial $30 a month membership fee, if you went month to month as I did. As for the app, both Whoop and Fitbit seemed to track my sleep patterns equally effectively but Fitbit premium is cheaper. I didn’t see much benefit in the strain and recovery categories for telling me what I can already feel in my body, knowing when I can hit it hard and take it easy. Anyone in tune with their body can tell that. Also, the strap absorbs water and sweat to the point where it feels gross on your wrist and it doesn’t appear that you can toss the strap in the wash easily as you can with Fitbit straps. Also, Whoop does not count steps or have a watch face. For me, Fitbit is a better option as it is more versatile.

Good App, No Customer Service?
I’ve had my Whoop bad for a few days now, and so far, I love it. However, I wanted to better understand an optional feature that was suggested for me, and after 30 minutes of looking through FAQ’s and articles, I was unable to find an answer. I looked for an option for customer support, and after filling out a contact form, I was directed back to articles /FAQs I’d already seen without any confirmation that my form had been received. It also did not ask for details on the question/issue. There was no other clear option for customer support/feedback. This makes me question how much they value the user experience, and if I’d get support if I needed it for a more technical issue.

Awesome
I’ve used many wearables - and am a current Apple Watch user. The metrics provided by Whoop are second to none. The level of detail provided is incredibly helpful at tracking your sleep, recovery and strain. You can log journal entries and better understand how different things affect your sleep and performance. While the subscription cost isn’t for everyone (yes, it’s a bit high), you have to look at what’s provided and the fact that you aren’t paying for the device (upgrades are free as well when new ones come out). I’ve not had this thing for too long, but I can tell already that this will be valuable to my running and cycling performance.

Great except for HR accuracy, its core metric
I love my Whoop and what it teaches me about myself and my training status. The journaling function and ability to link behavior on one day to recovery status the next is fantastic for reinforcing good habits, sleep hygiene, etc. However... Whoop can’t measure in-activity hr even remotely accurately. It’s ridiculously bad. Occasionally, while cycling indoors, if I get the strap just right and make sure not to shift or move my hand (at all), it’ll be accurate, but change positions from seated to out of saddle and kiss 20bpm goodbye. When running, so some reason it reads 10-20 bpm high?! I realize that optical hr is a tough tech challenge, but the solution is just to use some other platform’s accurate data, or change your form factor to an adhesive patch that can detect hr via electrode, or chest strap, or?? Whoop app desperately needs the ability to pull accurate hr data from its existing data integration partners. This would be an easy fix. Finally, why is riding 100 miles moderate/avg z2-3 the same strain (20.7) as riding 150 miles at the same avg hr? Keep up the good work, but there’s a bit more to be done.

GPS not working
When I start an activity I never know if GPS will track my course and distance or not. Seems to just randomly stop tracking at some point mid workout. Not very helpful when trying to track pace or distance. This has been going on for some time. Probably a month. I’ve been using my apple watch as a backup but I prefer integration into whoop to view all my stats. For what we pay for this service it should work. 1* until fixed. For all the “updates” we get to the app I find it takes longer and longer to process a work work despite using iPhone 13 pro. It’s the system/service itself that has slowed down in the last few months. It hasn’t resolved. And now the GPS tracking issues. I can’t be confident my strain is properly measured if this strap can’t seem to manage the basics of tracking.
