We live in San Diego and read the news from home everyday. We moved here over 30 years ago (time really flies) from the Sharon area. When we came to San Diego, there was no internet or cell phones. It was much harder to keep in touch with local news. This website keeps us connected to our hometown and Youngstown area news and events. We both have our iPads and iPhones setup for notifications. My husband and I couldn't be anymore pleased with the quality of your app. Clusew

I LOVE this app!! I have a busy life and I’m always on the go. I don’t always have time to sit and watch the news at home so it’s just more convenient for me that I can just pick up my phone at anytime and check out the news and see what’s going on in my neighborhood. I don’t have any issues with this app. I give this app a 5 Star.

Home news away from home

For those like me that live most of the year away from the area, I‘m glad for this local news app. The app functions well, but it could be technically improved. I depend on notifications (turn them ON!) and usually read the stories that interest me. If there’s one thing I could change it would be for the content editors to show less left wing bias; It’s sometimes like you’re on the DNC payroll.

Your TV Signal

I can’t receive your signal here in Salem even though my antenna with a booster is headed towards you. I recieve channel 21 very clear however WKBN 27 is my favorite channel. Even pointed your direction I even get Cleveland Channels. This is a FYI only. I have your News and Weather apps on my iPhone and iPad. Thanks.

Was very good, but not recently

I’ve used this app for a long time, and it is always been very good, but as other people have mentioned recently, it’s almost unusable now. It locks up constantly. I have the latest version. I restart my iPad and iPhone regularly. The app is just locking up and crashing a lot in the last month or two. Hopefully this can be fixed and it can go back to being a very good app!

News Alerts

No sense to send news alerts cause when you click on the alert it doesn’t take you to the article it just takes you to the site. You have to search the site for the article and HOPE it’s on there. Every time you do an update to this app you just make it worse instead of better

I have never seen a station so biased as your station against the city of Warren . When your weather team shows views of other areas Warren is excluded when they show temperatures they show the airport using the excuse of not having a thermometer for Warren but working on getting one which has been ever since Paul became head weather man. Your news announcer referred to the airport as the Youngstown-Vienna airport I will encourage all Warren residence to refrain from doing business with your sponsors until the time comes when your staff can be less biased

One flaw that could be deadly

Nice app, except when the weather changes for the worst and your trying to watch the live feed broadcast and have to sit through a 30sec to a minute ad. In moments where seconds could mean life and death and somebody is trying to sell me a car. Smh please remove ads from emergency broadcasts on the mobile app.

Too many ads!

When the app first came out it was fine, but now it has gotten ridiculous with the ads. There’s an ad when the app is first opened. Then there is a permanent banner ad at the bottom of the screen. When you click on a news video you get a commercial first then the news is played. Now most recently, there are ‘Sponsor’ ads in between every couple of news stories on the feed. Crazy!

New version. Terrible ads.

The new version of the app is very nice. However the ads are too sensitive to touch and I accidentally open them all of the time just trying to scroll through. It’s a very unpleasant user experience. I understand why you’re doing it, it just stinks.

I would like to see more frequent updates especially on weekends. High school sports schedules are difficult to find, as I like to see different teams each week during football season. Access to timely police blotters each day would be great, not just weekly or monthly. The weather reports are excellent.

Deceptive "headlines"

The ads on this app are placed so that you accidentally click on them. I don't like that the ads often have "headlines" that look like a news story. The ads are often inappropriate. I don't want to be linked to a page about a gun range when reading about the Texas church shootings or any other murder. When trying to read election results, I was redirected 3-4 times to a site asking for money to send Bibles to Syria. Very annoying.

Great local coverage

When the WKBN site first changed I was unsure of the quality of the reporting. But it has grown to be the number one site I go to for all things local. I think they do a fine job.

Ads

In the latest update lengthy video ads pop up, fill the whole screen and aren’t able to be closed while trying to read stories. Tried to read 2 stories this morning and that happened 5 times, I finally just gave up. I understand the need for advertising to create revenue, but if continues to be this aggressive I’ll just switch to another app for my news.

Unreliable performance

This app has gotten worse over time! I loved it and used it regularly but over the last few months it has gotten so bad that I rarely CAN use it! I can read one or possibly two articles then they stop populating. I open an article and get first one or two paragraphs and a blank white screen below that. I’ve waited and waited but it never populates an often it freezes or the app just spontaneously closes. VERY DISAPPOINTING!!!

Review

So hard to navigate through the app. Many times I want to get quick local news updates but then refrain from accessing app because of the challenges in navigating the app. I like the news team but app needs something to make it more friendly and easier.

App freezes

The app is ok but it freezes constantly. Thought maybe it may have been my phone or WiFi, but other news apps don’t do that at all, I never have to deal with that on the others. Can that be addressed and fixed? Thanks so much

New IOS update killed it

Overall good app, but Whois the font so small on some of the stories? Make the font adjustable or at lest bigger.

Clunky

This app continues to disappoint. Freezes, is clunky when moving from one heading to the next. Currently it won’t let me view at all, saying there is an update needed. When attempting to update, nothing happens besides watching the circle spin. Come on guys. You’re a media company. Get it together.

Network connectivity issues

Almost every time I open up the app it tells me I have network connectivity issues even though my Internet is strong. It might be because I have an I phone 5S and struggling to be compatible with the newer applications but nonetheless it is very very annoying. I ended up just deleting The app.

Recent Issues

I use this app daily to keep up with local news. Lately, it has been freezing on me every time I use it. No other apps do this, so I suspect it is this app. FYI!

Blurry pics

Please fix the thumbnails. They are blurry. Even when you click on them. Also give people an option to see a clear photo not a video still. Most people wanna read the story not watch a video. Thank you.

No more automatic video

If I want to watch the video I can click on it turn off the automatic play. When I am somewhere that is quiet and want to read a news story I don’t need the video to start making noise

New site

Like everything else, change is hard to accept. I much prefer the old site, to this one. Also, the older site frequently said fetching article, which was annoying so I would need to try later. I didn't have problems with other sites, just yours.

App not working on iPad Pro 10.5

Although it is one of the first apps I use in the morning, all of the sudden it has been freezing on startup. I would restart my iPad and all is good. Today after restarting twice, it still hasn’t started.

Didn't like the site before with too many videos I'd rather read the articles and not have to sit through the ads which are ignored anyway. Don't like that the local news doesn't automatically come up.

To much copy and paste articles

When WKBN post an article from another news outlet, it doesn’t make it a real story. That story should have real people and real information and not just hearsay or opinions. The copy and pasted articles are just bias stories that News outlets want us to believe.

New format is terrible

Too many ads interwoven into the news articles. I find as I try and scroll to the rest of the article it is pushing me to an insurance ad on my browser. Very frustrating.

I would rather pay for this add a few bucks than deal with the ads. You can not do anything without having the an ad pop up. This is horrible!!!

The new update is awful. The automatic playing of video is annoying. I can understand ads but not opening a story to read and getting blasted with video. I’ll probably delete.
