Sent me returned merchandise
I purchased a product that was out of stock in my area. When I received the item, the main piece was missing and the instructions were for a completely different product. Guess what? The item is no longer on sale. Even as I am typing this, I’m getting irritated. This field they give us to type in has a midnight background and black text. Nice job Academy. I’d fire the pro responsible for this mess. Anyway, they’ve lost a customer. Sorry if there are any typos, I can’t really see this. The Rolla store is where my order came from. I’d look into the stellar hiring practice at that location if it were my company.

Why is “Hide OUT OF STOCK” an option if still shown?!
Searching couple specific brands so decided to toggle “hide out of stock” items in order to make the list more manageable (& they’re OUT OF STOCK anyway!). Even after sorting various ways, out of stock items are STILL being shown. INCLUDES OUT OF STOCK — ONLINE, SET +NEARBY STORES, ALL OF THE SIZES + ALL OF THE COLORS. ❌ Also tried on the website, same thing. Even more inconvenient than the list of thousands of items that came up—that also include items by OTHER brands than your selection BUT apparently Academy thinks you won’t notice (?)—is that you decide you want to purchase so click that item only to discover it’s out of stock when the item comes up. INCLUDES OUT OF STOCK — ONLINE, IN STORE, ALL OF THE SIZES (even the seldom ordered XXXS or XXXXL are out of stock & some items only have 1 size listed AT ALL-that’s out of stock) and yep, ALL OF THE COLORS. No all of the items didn’t JUST miraculously sell out when I began the search, as that would be HUNDREDS of items over 10 + searches within the Academy app AND main website, over a course of several weeks. So no. **The conclusion—too little time for this nonsense when alternate stores do not have this same issue.**

Let’s see now
First time I ordered from here & it was so so, ordered a knife, 2 men’s sandals, 3 packs of under armor socks & a knife sharpener. Delivery was fast BUT one of my items which was the knife sharpener was returned & used before I bought it, the box was stapled & I would’ve been fine with that BUT it was used where you can see it was used, they should’ve said that & maybe gave a discount on an open used item so the customer at least knows & decides if he/she wants a used item, not cool for any customer especially for a first time customer for them to go through a so so experience & 2nd was they gave me the wrong size on 2 of the 3 packs of socks. I like this website & the deals they have especially with the free shipping are good so it’s fine but hopefully they will let customers know when something is used especially when it shows that it’s been used. So I gave it a 3 stars because for that but I will be shopping here again because they have nice products & reasonable prices.

Disappointed
I placed a significant order on this past Black Friday, I opted to pick up my order in-store for safety reasons. What I was not aware is that half of my Christmas order would be cancelled and for the remaining items I’d have to do several trips to the store after receiving emails after emails “that my order had been fulfilled!” Only to arrive at said store to be handed 1 item and no clear answer as to why I have to do various trips. The first person I spoke with was very unprofessional and cocky and not interested in the inconvenience this has been to me. I believe he was a supervisor or manager he wore a blue shirt. When I went back again 3rd time to pick up another package of my (order) I ask to speak to a Manager who this time was very empathetic and understanding with the situation I was experiencing. He was kind and patient and listened carefully as I explained my experience at this store. He promised he would look into it and to make up for the inconvenience he actually gifted me a gift card out of his own expense and a few discounts coupons. He didn’t have to but he understood the inconvenience of me having to drive multiple times to the store to pick up my items. And the disappointment of shopping online at the store I picked and then not even notified that half my order was cancelled. Until I personally checked the Academy app. I can’t say that I will continue shopping here.

Best service in town
I received the the customer service from several associates at the academy sports in Warner Robins GA. I was greeted at the door with a smile and walked to exactly what I asked for. The young man at the podium was happy to help me and engaged in friendly conversation as he walked me to the department I was looking for. In the outdoor department another associate helped me find the item I was looking for. She helped me find a gift for my son and it was perfect. I will speak highly of this location and look forward to my next visit.

Ok as a reference, don't take as gospel
Inventory counts aren't always accurate for any number of things. Ammo stated as not in stock at a particular store was actually there, or shown as in stock and actually wasn't. Same applies to fishing lures, rods and reels, footwear, etc. Products in locked cases are usually spot on as shown whether in/out of stock though. Product descriptions are basic and don't provide near enough detail for certain things, particularly firearm related products: ammo, optics, firearms. Very little usable info for ammo. No ballistic info for velocity, BC, energy, etc. Almost no usable info given for rifles: barrel twist, barrel composition or material used, BCG details, gas system, etc. List goes on. It's good for basic reference but not near as good as it should be. Leaves a lot to be desired

Live Academy Sports
Using the Academy Sports app has been very convenient as we do not have an Academy sports within less than an hour and a half of where we live. My son plays baseball and we love the outdoors and lake life, so it is always an easy way to shop for all of the gear and things that is useful for each of us. Everything typically has a reasonable price and decent quality. The only bad thing about the app that I have found is that when you select to hide the out of stock items, it does not hide all of the out of stock items which makes it a little frustrating. But will still continue to use.

App update
I updated my app today, because I had to. When I opened the app, I was forced to create/sign in to an account even though I didn’t really want to. All I wanted to do was search for an item at the store so I wouldn’t walk all over the store. I used my email address, got a temporary passcode….because that was supposed to be easier than using a password. Now I’m stuck on the sign in page. I enter my email, click continue, entered my phone number, and it takes me back to the sign in screen. I repeated with my email, chose to skip entering my phone number to do it later, and I still get thrown back to the sign in page. Can’t use the app, won’t be shopping at Academy.

Terrible, can’t get past confirming I’m not a bot
I keep having to press and hold to confirm I’m not a bot, and it keeps saying my password is incorrect even though it’s correct. I even updated my password through the website because it still has me logged in for the purchase I just made, and I wanted to be absolutely sure my password was correct. The app keeps telling my it’s not. I only downloaded the app to change the pick up person on my order, and to do so you’re directed to do it through the app… the app I can’t gain access to. It’s a never ending loop of “incorrect password” or “press and hold”. App was deleted immediately since it’s 100% useless and I couldn’t get passed the login screen. One of the most garbage apps I’ve ever tried to use.

Great store. Bad CC service.
Love academy. Made the mistake of getting a credit card. I’m normally on top of all of my payments with reminders on my credit cards. However I could not access my Academy account until the CC has arrived in the mail(3 weeks). Payed it on time. However the text and email notifications I enrolled in never sent me my due dates to be able to put them in my phone. They were more than happy to send promotional shopping offers though! Ended up racking non refundable fees and customer service would not help at all! Either way my mistake for not being more on top of it but I figured out of the four emails a day I get about academy deals they could have the decency to email me about my credit card payment that’s due😃

Great ! …. Quick, user friendly shopping ….. even for an older “IT-challenged” dude (me) !!! ….. in a matter of seconds I located the exact item that I wanted - an UnderArmor button up plaid shirt, IDENTICAL TO THE ONE THAT BOUGHT A WEEK AGO ( in the West Monroe, LA ACADEMY store) for my 50th high school reunion ….. I wore the 1st one to the gala, but ripped it when trotting by a bolt protruding from a fence post in the parking lot ….. loved the shirt so much that I wanted to replace it immediately, but didn’t want to drive 60 mile round-trip again to the nearest ACADEMY ….. so, voila !! ….. efficient shopping 😎

App isn’t the greatest.
I don’t know how, but the app doesn’t filter products the way you would think. I try to hide out of stock items and it still shows out of stock items. No matter the size, no matter that I put in my location, I don’t know if my store carries the item I am looking for. The only reason why I keep the app is to check my CC balance. Luckily I paid it all off. I can’t even use the app to pay off the CC like other apps I have. Edit: I was asked for a review of the app, so here goes. Two things: how is it that I can pay all of my other credit cards using their apps yet I have to be redirected to a web browser when I’m trying to pay my CC bill? Also, “Hide Out of Stock” still shows items that are not in stock in my location. In fact, there is a few items which are online only yet if you scroll down, it def states that the items are not in stock at the location I am at. Hopefully I have made my point a bit more clearly. I was mad at first, Academy. Now, I’m just disappointed. We can still be friends, right?

Status of delivery
Est delivery date: is way off by 5-7 days, customer would be better served if the shipping tracking numbers were included. I have one order purchased in late Apr, est del 4-7 May , date of this review is 7 May , the purchase doesn’t show shipped yet. I also signed up for notifications of ready for pickup at store via text and email, but last three orders I have not received these notifications.

Ease of app and navigation
I find the Academy App so easy to use from searching for items to utilizing the the out of stock capabilities so your not wasting time finding what you want and then it’s not in stock at your store. I also like the special hidden price bargains Academy offers once you place it in your cart, most of the time it’s a pretty good discount/ deal there offering! Academy is my go to place for all my outdoor needs

Login problems
I like the app but every now and then it has a problem with me logging in. For example: I was using the app and was about to purchase some clothes and it told me I had to sign in. I did, with the same email and password and it said my info was incorrect. I did it the second time thinking I might have pressed a wrong letter or something but it still said the same thing. Now I contacted customer service through the app and they said now I have to wait 24 hours before being able to retry but when I do I have to choose the option that says forgot password.

Awful
I’ve had my credit card for years now but use it sparingly. I typically pay the balance off on all my credit cards when due. I have not been able to make a payment on line, on my computer or on my mobile phone, and have had to go into the store to make a payment. I have mailed my payment in and it takes a while before it is posted. My credit score is above the 800’s and I do not trust the payment system to post timely. The online system will not allow me to make a payment. I’ve contacted customer service but they simply suggest I make a phone payment. I’d rather not be placed on hold and wait. Good luck

The best
This app makes my outdoor experience 100 times better!!! I can order my hunting/fishing gear and have it shipped so I don’t have to take my wife in the store and hear (y do you need that) every time I look at something plus I can order more than 1 of the same thing without hearing (but you already have one of those) so thank you academy app for making my life a 10/10!!!!!

Was better before.
Before I was able to search items in stock around my area and a map showed which stores had the items I wanted to buy. Now all the stores show availability but when trying to purchase it says : the is item is available now and another next day and another next week. I don’t want to drive many times to pick up single items. I just need to know on the spot which store has everything I need. And please don’t suggest free shipping because the items I usually buy are not available for shipping

I tried to chat online and waited over 30 minutes. When I got to #1 in the queue I was told there was no one to help me. Someone needs to work on that. On the other hand when I called the store and talked to the store manager Kristin she was wonderful and was able to help me immediately. Thank you Kristen. Took me over 3 hours just to buy a bike for my granddaughter. First I created an account. Wanted to pay for. It’s unbelievable nobody could help me. So I decided to chat No way. I kept saying I want to buy a bike. Than called the store ohh noo we can’t help because its a on line order. Than I was finally ready to make the order, they needed a pin. If only the filters worked
If I select “hide out of stock” I shouldn’t be continually shown products that are out of stock. If I select “40S&W” I should not be shown anything that is not compatible with “40S&W”. If I wanted to see 9mm options I would select 9mm, if I wanted to see all the products you DON’T have, I wouldn’t select “hide out of stock”, I’d waste my time looking at all the items I have to go else where to get. Website is just as bad as this app. Better off just going in store or even better shopping else where that can keep up with inventory and demands. I would suggest Adventure Outdoors over Academy any day.

Drove 20 minutes to another store and item wasn’t there.
Last night my local store was out of the ammo I needed, so I checked online to see if another store had it in stock. I drove 20 minutes burning expensive gas and incurring $5.40 in tolls alone only to be horribly disappointed. They showed 2 boxes, but when I arrived their inventory was just wrong and they had NONE in stock! This is not the first time this has happened and Academy refused to do anything to make it right or correct this error. They could have easily offered free home delivery of the items from another store, but refused to help.

Love doing business online w Academy
Absolutely love the convenience and savings by using the Academy credit card. However, on my very first statement I was charged a “late fee”. As it turned out it was simply due to timing and automation. I called and spoke to a friendly and understanding Academy rep and the issue was resolved. I look forward to many more online dealings with Academy utilizing the Academy credit card and saving on discounts and shipping. Good to go!

Best Sports Store Ever!!
You can always count on Academy to: 1) customer service centered 2) well stocked with sizes your looking for 3) Fairly priced even when demand is high for certain items and on certain holidays 4) a house house brand that is competitive in quality and superior in value or cheaper! 5) Best gun selection I know of with “patient” and “knowledgeable” gun salesmen 6) something for everyone in the family to look at or look for. Yet the store is small enough with front door team to not loose a kiddo. 7) clean restrooms 8) Fair prices even with inflation. No gouging 9) dressing room always open (walmart👎🏻) And always clean with great mirrors.

In-store pick up options
I understand stores run out of products, however the option to pick up in certain stores close by should still be available when an item is out of stock it should be able to be ordered and sent to the store of choice for pickup. It can be transferred between stores or sent from the warehouse as a store order. The customer shouldn’t have to drive further to get items to save on shipping costs.

App is ok to buy products but nothing else!
Wanted to review the store but you have to go to the website which asks for store number and transaction ID as well asks for register number. Look at your receipt and tell me how much of that info is on the receipt! Benton, Arkansas store has empty shelves, poor selection and terrible customer service! Long wait lines during busy hours only to have a register open and tell those at the very back of the line to come to the newly opened register! What about those who are 3-4 customers deep who have stood there for 10 minutes??

Website needs work
Disappointed with the website. I would search an item, click on it, and when I returned to the items it would take me back to the very first item on the list. If I was on page three, I’d have to go back through all the item again till I got to the third page and start looking again. It’s not the first time it’s happened. You are going to lose sales or customers. It’s very annoying, but it does not do it every time.

Although the item is out of stock in store, the ship to home option is fantastic! I have taken this route and received my item in a timely manner. I just placed a second order and will be using the “pick up at store” option. I hope it all goes well!!

I cannot access my shopping cart to check out even on this app. I’ve tried every browser using my desktop and even then I can’t. I’m just frustrated because I need to check out my items. This makes me want to go to another store website to shop.

Quick and easy
I love how they have deals going all the time, prices are respectable and reasonable. I’ve been inside the store one time on colonial in Orlando and it’s really cool in there. Overall I think it’s a good place to shop if your looking for good quality without spending your whole bank👌🏾

Credit card
I applied for the credit card as I love your store was suppose to get $15 credit but did not. Also being new to Acadamy in Christiansburg signed up for both email and text but didn’t get the 10% off. I have made three purchases in 3 days. I’m very confused so I’m not sure if I messed up or maybe it’s too confusing. I love the new store but I’m confused by trying to sign up for things.

The worst
This app is so bad, it’s turned me off of Academy permanently. Glitches abound. It forgets your cart repeatedly. Tells you it’s empty. Refill it. Again and again. Everything is out of stock. Then in stock again. Picks your delivery/pickup method for you and charges for delivery on items not available for pickup! Then, all of the sudden, remembers your cart and multiplies it! Changes prices from the item screen to the cart. BE CAREFUL!! Quadruple check EVERYTHING if you dare to use this app! Chat won’t help you. IF you get a human, they “unfortunately” can’t do a darn thing. BEWARE.

One major flaw in an app to buy stuff
Academy’s website has this problem too. Pretty infuriating when you’re actively trying to buy something. The website and app show items that are not available. You can filter by selecting “Hide Out of Stock” - but still find items that aren’t available in store and aren’t available for delivery. I end up frustrated and going to a competitor, finding items in stock immediately when they are on the site, and buying from them.

Not allowed to use the app without an Academy acct??
Used to be able to open the Academy app and browse merchandise, see what store has what I’m looking for in-stock, but now it won’t let me into the app without having an Academy account and there’s no Skip option to get past the first page to provide an email address or create an account. Nobody does that - Target, Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes, etc. I always have the option on these other apps to login later but Academy wants a login upfront to get in. Highly irritating.

Watch your shipping choices
I ordered 4 items on one order. It was split into 3 sections. I wanted 1 section (3 items) shipped to home address. This section went to an out of state address on my list - which I did not want. The other remaining mysteriously appeared as ‘pick up’ order - which I did not want. Called customer service - after an order is placed no changes can be made. To change anything you have to cancel the entire order and start all over! I’m not a happy Academy shopper!!

Not Taking Credit Card Info Properly
There is an issue within the App…although I had updated and saved all my credit card info, the App still reverts to trying to use the old credit card info (SAME NUMBER BUT DIFFERENT DATE & DIFFERENT CVV) even though I’ve saved the new info repeatedly and selected each time “save this card for future use” … So very time I make a purchase now, I have to go to “add new card” and type in the long credit card # plus the date + the CVV …

Great store.
The Academy in Kannapolis NC is a great store. The business is always clean, the employees are very nice and knowledgeable about the products. Also the curbside service is a great help since I am handicapped. Employees have helped and even loaded large items I have purchased either in my pickup or on a trailer.

Apple Pay
When trying to place an order for pick up it and it comes to payment. You can select apple pay and then it starts getting picky on your address. Like they’re going to deliver when delivery is stupid high so I decided to pick up at the store. They still want a complete address when it’s already stored on your profile.

Payment info/non-stock
I am a PIM / Digital Coordinator for my company so I am quite versed about what is ancient a great site. The sight is horrible at saving payment information. Cannot have 2 Academy cards listed apparently. Tired of adding mine and then reading once I use my dads. I always pick save for future. When you want to search only stock, and click “hide out of stock”, it still shows so many items it in stock. Coming from the digital word, I am quite disappointed in this website.

Easy to Order
I’m a big fan of Academy Sports. I’m from the Gulf Coast of Mississippi living now in Tucson, AZ. I’ve always shopped AS but there is not one on the Western side. I’m glad I can order online. A wide selection as always and easy to order. Be back on the Mississippi coast soon and back in Academy!

Fix your online inventory system
Almost every time I place an order online I get a notification a day or two later that some of my items are out of stock and cancelled. I love academy as my go-to sports store but I don’t have that problem with other online retailers. Once is not a big deal, but this has happened several times now. I won’t be ordering online anymore, will shop virtually on sites that know what products they have in stock.

Forced to create an account
Go back to allowing the user to browse without an account please. I have always searched the app to see if a product is available at my local Academy, if it is then I’d drive there and buy it. Since the update I am no longer able to do this and have expanded my search to other retailers. I’ll now await the auto generated developer reply “Thank you for sharing your feedback, your concerns have been shared with the approrpriate team for review.”

Website is very inefficient
I spent more than an hour trying to order and ship 3 items to my daughter at college. When I entered her shipping address, MY BILLING address was changed to her shipping address! Then, I couldn’t use my saved credit card to complete the purchase because my credit card billing address didn’t match the Billing Address in my Academy order. It was a conundrum that took way too long to correct. I will avoid online ordering with Academy in the future.

Favorite store
I love academy and love shopping there. I fish and get most of my supplies there for any fishing trip. I also love the customer service aspect and love how friendly and helpful they are! I wish I could get a job here but don't have any retail experience.

App is TERRIBLE
The app sticks, takes forever and a day to load and does not sort items correctly. It always shows out of stock items!! For as much money as this store makes, they definitely need to improve their app!! When looking for something you better not select it unless your absolutely sure your going to buy it. Guess what? Even if you’re sure it’s not in stock after you’ve selected hide out of stock.

Not a great app
It’s very aggravating and annoying. When I add something to the cart and want to change the shipping location (from store pickup to home delivery) I have to select the correct box. There is nowhere to select update. Instead, i have to delete it and go back and select it again. It’s very annoying.

Needs some polish
The app seems to behave erratically. Sometimes searches return irrelevant results and Apple Pay doesn't seem to work at all. No matter how many times I try to fix my contact info, it doesn't want to work. I haven't seen this problem occur before, every other app/point of sale I use Apple Pay on works flawlessly.

“Opps Somethings always wrong..”
They had a 3 day online only sale and the app wouldn’t select anything for the cart. I closed the app and reopened it a couple days in a row. Figured I had to create an account to get around it, but you guessed it… “Opps something went wrong with your request.” Eventually they moved to an in store sale, so I’ll just go by the store instead. Error message was the same each time. Looks good, but doesn’t really function for shopping.
