Can't open the app anymore, just deleted, maybe time to stick to the website browser version

This app is an actual joke. With the entire world able to download and read/review what is published, the editor(s) should be ashamed! Unless of course preschool news education, format, grammatical errors and the continual inability to perform the most basic function of a “NEWS” app is your goal....... you hit it out of the park! This is the first time I’ve rated an app low because I always remember the motto my parents instilled in me that “if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.” If I could give zero stars you would have been the first for me. Every time I try to use your app, a video won’t play, a hyperlink doesn’t work or there is something spelled wrong. I have actually emailed multiple times to multiple recipients to include the writer of each story and the editors of said department of writers etc. In one article alone, I wasn’t through the second paragraph and had encountered 3 errors. I wanted to pull my hair out!! To think that this company swooped in and purchased the old channel 11, KTVA which was the CBS affiliate in Anchorage (not sure if all of AK) and turns around and spits out Channel 5 in its place but smooshed one the best news apps right into the trash. The Great Replacement: Now we have the same preschool type stuff presented all wrapped up in the sadness they call KTUU/KYES. I hope they hire some experts to help them get out of the hole they have put them selves into.

Gray Television Stations bought out KTVA channel 11 in Anchorage Alaska. KTVA had a fantastic app that allowed us to stream their professional news reports flawlessly. We were able to watch in our community of Seward, Alaska. Now we can only watch KTUU Chanel 2 in Anchorage which is somewhat boring. KTVA had a great news team including Melissa Frey reporting the Alaska weather with great expertise! Megan Mazuric was the best news journalist in Alaska. KTVA news & weather were transformed to KYES channel 5 in Anchorage & now we can no longer stream KYES in Seward. KTUU CHANNEL 2 is our only streaming option and it freezes constantly & we end up missing the news & weather reports altogether. Please create an app specifically for KYES Channel 5 (which is a CBS network). We pay for CBS live streaming every month but somehow Gray Television has disabled our ability to live stream CBS although we pay for it. Thanks for blocking our ability to watch the news. Sure hope there is not an emergency in Seward, Alaska and we are left in the dark.

Honestly it’s not the best app but Alaska has been such a mess since Covid that I’m just happy we even have an app for our news source. So many people here don’t have the slightest idea of what’s even going on here. Better than nothing. I’m still giving a low rating because of the ridiculous ads. This is the first app I’ve ever downloaded that forces constant ads in your face, I’ve NEVER downloaded an app that forces this amount of ads either. Gross greed for Alaska’s primary news source, something ever other state doesn’t have to put up with

Ads now pop up everywhere and you're forced to listen to sound and talking in the background when all I wanted is to read the local new. Now it's much intrusion so moving on to any other app with local news. This app is now too intrusive. I may be back when ads have no sounds. Was good until this. Straw that broke the trust is that it's now using so much batt power. Only check the news a few time a day but usage show it's use 25% the iPhone power. Even when app not being viewed it seems to use the most power. Ads seem to play in the background even when no longer viewing the news.

I almost didn’t download the app due to the horrid reviews, but I have to say, I’ve had no issues. Only pop up is a banner when opening the app and it clears quickly, I get the news I need, weather, and so on with no interruptions. Maybe the developers have fixed the app since the negative reviews, but it’s perfect for me.

I only downloaded the app because KTVA is basically defunct, but sheesh guys, this app is terrible. It loads up half of the time, it’s buggy and full of ads. It takes me forever to scroll through the topics because everything is scattered and clunky. Who designed this app???? You should take a page from KTVA’s app and streamline line your product. A top tier news app shouldn’t look like some random glitch article from Facebook. Do better KTUU, please. This is an embarrassment.

We watch KTUU every day, but after having to go with internet instead of cable we have found that it is very difficult to watch LIVE News & Weather. For 2 days now, we haven’t been able to watch any live news, it’s from 2 days ago! Very frustrating! Never thought I would rate something so low, especially KTUU app.

I like reading the updated news. I hope and pray it starts working again. I’ve tried everything I can think of to get it back going again.

I thought I could catch the weather and news since we live remote and outside of Anchorage. First thing I experienced is a vocal ad while I am asking the app to not track me. Then I get a screen and there are 2 ads and no content. It took me about 10 seconds to delete this app! There is nothing here to entice a user to want this advertising app.

Ads pop up all over the place and usually don’t disappear or collapse when you try to close them. I like news, but this is too frustrating! Grey Television marketing department, take note: Your mix of ads and content on this is imbalanced. You’ve drowned out the content in favor of ad revenue. And now I’m deleting your app. Poof! (Gone.) Time to rethink this “app thing!”

I used to rely on this app for local news but now i just get the title page and occasionally the opening ad and then back to the title page...indefinitely. I tried deleting the app and downloading again but the problem still remains.

I use to love this app, never had problems - then it just quit opening for me - it would load, but then go immediately into ‘background’ mode; did all the updates, deleted and reinstalled - nothing worked ... a.m. very sad I’ll have to rely on the competition for my news 💔

I used this as one of my primary news sources, but they did something to the app that caused it to severely drain my battery. My Iphone SE is only a month old, and this morning the battery went from 100% to 22% in 2 hours. Diagnostics shows KTUU app running full power in the background all night. Deleted the app.

App for last several versions continues to crash and close unexpectedly. Freezes at times making me close and reopen which is highly annoying when app opens into Advertising. Using current iOS version. If it doesn’t improve going to delete and try a different local news app.

I haven’t had any problems with this until recently. The notification count will zero out after I open the app, but comes back and just continues to climb from the previous number

The worst news app. Cannot open app and read an article without video adds popping up and blasting at full volume. Anytime I get an alert and think I can just read the article in the alert I get bombarded with adds and turn off the app. Completely useless news app.

I’ve never had any problems until just recently. When trying to open the TopHeadlines portion of the app, it just closes the page and sends it back to my home screen. Frustrating. Something changed. Wish they’d fix it.

This is terrible, there is no option to stop it and now there is no way to discretely check the news at anytime due to the obnoxiously loud ad that I have to listen to while doing so. If this doesn’t stop soon I will have delete this app that I love.....

I have had this app for years, recently I have had to delete, reinstall & after few days, same thing. When it works, it’s good, but in 2021 I have had to delete/install more times then the app worked.

I get it that they need advertisers but the ads run way too long and there are too many. I just close out and go to the other local site and not use it hardly at all. There needs to be a better balance.

A lot of the time I am checking this on the go or when in line. It’s horrible that I am forced to listen to an ad without the option to turn it off. If it keeps happening I will discontinue using this app.

Can load app but takes several steps to get it correctly. Cannot share your series on permafrost at all. Sends total but nothing else.

I cannot exit the iOS app in Apple TV to get back to Apple’s home screen without rebooting the device EVERY TIME.

The ads pop up while I’m trying to read news. Also the latest version keeps crashing when I try to open it. I have the KTVA app as well and their platform runs smoother and no ads when I’m reading a story.

We were just watching the news and they made it look like an infected woman was coughing on people until the end where they said that someone else was infected. We had to watch twice to make sure that was wrong. Just sick and twisted.

As others have noted this app won’t open properly. All I get is a white spinning wheel which is very hard to see since it’s on a white background. It should just be taken out of the App Store entirely.

Will not support this app that expects you to have your locations on at all times to use this app The weather app is just fine but this app expects you to have your locations on to utilize !

I updated this app a few days ago and now it won’t open. Bug fixes or bug problem? I like to stay informed as to what’s going on in my home state, so please fix…

This app won’t even open past the first screen. No big loss. KTUU is an opinion garbage news source. You read any article and know exactly how the reporter feels about the issue.

Constantly having issues trying to open the app. Been having to delete it and re download the app just to try to get it to work

How can you call it news! I watched for an hour and there was no mention of the biggest Supreme Court decision in 50 years. What is up not even Ak news most of the time

Not as good as I want. The only news app for Anchorage Alaska. KTUU has taken over other news channels. So all you get is what they tell you. Someone needs to give out real news. Please give us a chance to here the other side of the news. Takeover is not good.

I can’t even load the app. When I try open it it automatically closes. Tried deleting it and re-loading it, using WiFi instead of data. Doesn’t work.

It’s a terrible app! Half of the time it doesn’t work and the other half of the time it has trouble loading. Not worth the effort to try any more! delete!

To be honest I am personally disgusted with how you present the news, many people would agree channel 2 news is one-sided. what happened to both sides?!? Why don’t you tell the public what is really going on?

I can’t find anything about the I Spy contest on this app 😕 I watched carefully to learn the the word but now I don’t know where to enter it, unlike last year when there was a ‘Contest’ label in the index. What’s up with that?

Every time I try to look at the news the app shuts down. It’s been like this for a couple of weeks now.

I can’t open this app. My husband has it on his phone and it crashes several times before he can open it. It happens any time he wants to use it. Worthless.

Seem to be pretty lazy in reporting local news. Tired of the constant stream of RNC. Suppose it will be the same when the DNC is in swing. But then you have a pretty much monopoly on the system in anchorage and Ak.

May just be the worst app ever! Extremely slow and irritatingly lacking in detail. Hoping to see improvements soon.

I used to be able to check my local news. However this app is not functioning. So I am deleting KTUU. I won’t miss the ads or the poorly written stories with bad grammar and misspelled words.

Sometimes live stream works and sometimes it doesn't, in the same place.

Not sure what happened.... this used to be a great app...is terrible now. I downloaded the latest version and now it won’t load up.....

Why does this stupid app never load? Every day I have to delete the non-functioning app and reload it to get it to load. How stupid is that??? Get it together Gray. VERY unhappy user.

I have had this for a few years and had no problems. I just updated it and it will not open.
