I have tried multiple language tutor sites, but this one blows them all out of the water. They offer one trial class PER TUTOR which is great because you can test out the teaching styles for only $2-$10 per 25 minute trial class! So I bought about 8 trial classes before finding someone that was absolutely perfect. A couple other great things is that app is super easy to navigate and makes the experience more convenient, and this site does not force you to buy packages! You can buy single classes whenever you would like! I would recommend this to anyone that does not want to overspend for a good tutor. They make it easy to test the waters and find the perfect fit for you!
I got interested in AT through Instagram and it was the first time I did something like this. I like that the teachers reach out to you first. It’s easier than scrolling through every single teacher. The app itself has some bugs sometimes but it’ll fix itself if you refresh the page or close and reopen the app. I did have a problem before when it came to cancelling a lesson. As a mom of 2 under 2 y/o, rescheduling a lesson is constant. I believe that the cancellation/reschedule of a lesson should be up to the teacher and student without the need for it to be 12 hours before the lesson starts. If it’s alright with both parties, it should be okay instead of making it a big deal. It worked out for me in the end but it was a little confusing. All in all I actually enjoy using AmazingTalker
This platform is nothing special. They claim to match students to the teachers but it’s still a rigged game. You’re sent a notification that gives you three minutes to respond to the student request. Other teachers are also matched and seeing the same request too. By the time your phone pushes the notification to you, you likely missed the chance to contact the student. Even then, the student might choose a different teacher. Your only choice is to literally sit glued to the app all day and pounce on the requests as soon as they come in and hope the student picks you. You’re also penalized if you try raise your hourly rate above the so-called average which means fewer profile views and requests. The average is quite low and you’d have to work yourself to death with back-to-back classes every day just to make a halfway decent living. You’re better off with Preply or similar platforms.
I am both a tutor (English) and a student (Chinese) on Amazing Talker. I pretty much live on the platform now, and the App has been incredibly convenient. For the Matches, it is a swift response ready to go on the App. For replying to students, I have zero issue. You can also send documents and pictures with ease in the messages, like pdf books and homework pictures. It’s a good working App, very convenient, and it keeps you updated on any changes for your classes.
The app is awesome! I connected with a teacher who I’ve been studying with for two years. I have learned so much from her and we have a great time. She gives plenty of time to talk, learn new things and homework. The only thing I don’t like is the cashback program. After two years, I still haven’t figured out how to get the money I’ve accumulated. The steps are convoluted and seem unattainable. You have to become a “study buddy” which is nearly impossible. The cashback feature should not be associated with it. I can’t control how someone uses the app or have a desire to learn a new language. Only what I can do.
This new way of grasping a new language is great and it’s secure when it comes to your payments. I would like to say that the prices are very reasonable and it does not hurt your pockets. You have the choice to pick the tutor who is right for you. It’s nothing like having a face to face chat with an actual person that you can learn and grow with as you gain the skills you need to become more fluent in the area of your choosing.
In past 9 classes, I can always get something in each class. For me, it’s not just learning English, it’s way beyond my expectations! I get lots of courage, and not afraid to talk! I get to know more about American! And I feel like I have a good friend! I can ask her everything, my struggles and of course, English! I was looking for an opportunity to practice speaking Spanish and to build on my grammar and knowledge. Working with Dani has provided that. He is so enjoyable to work with. You can tell he is passionate about teaching. The atmosphere of the lesson is relaxed . I feel like I am meeting a friend for coffee/beer and we’re just chatting. I have been super pleased with my whole experience with both Dani and AmazingTalker.
I love how you have an unlimited amount of trial lessons you can do. The only critiques I have are that, 1) when you’ve checked you messages sometimes the notifications still stay there, 2) you can’t delete/hide previous messages from other tutors you’ve spoke with, 3) there’s no option to toggle off getting emails every time you receive a message. As for the main use of the app, I love it, it’s a wonderful resource.
My fiancé referred me to AmazingTalker when I wanted to learn Spanish and I cannot believe how awesome this app/website is! It took me a little bit to find the right tutor and now we have become friends! I am learning so quickly and I’m already speaking with people daily! It’s so affordable, so fun, and having a tutor who is a native speaker makes learning languages so much better!
I have an excellent teacher helping me learn Korean! He is professional and prepared. Even when I’m not at my best he encourages me to work harder in the nicest way. It’s truly inspiring. I look forward to each lesson and has seen progress in such a short time. Even my family is impressed.
I’ve been using this app for almost a year and it still has the same problems. I don’t know why, but sometimes I enter to the app and I have to log in again or it simply kicks me out. It’s really annoying. Right now I had to delete the app to install it again because it said multiple times ‘No Data’ and my account didn’t appear neither.
I joined AT like a month ago, to teach English. It’s been hard to find students but putting that aside, when “you do” find students or match people you start getting this messages “ Hello how are you doing I just went through your bio now and I believe you’re the perfect tutor for my company project” I have received at least 15 of those scam messages. The website doesn’t have any kind of filtration for students and literally anyone can register and start scamming teachers.
Basically a great app but the flow is difficult because you need to go backwards to advance through it. A good workflow analysis can really help. Update: 4.5 stars after reviewing the recording feature for lessons which is priceless for continuing study.
I stumbled upon this app just looking for language teachers. It was really easy to search and filter options and within 10 minutes I booked 4 different ones to try out.
I’ve tried many language apps, but this one is hands down the best. The teachers are very nice and professional. The app is very easy to work, and there’s many of plans to help depending on your budget. Thank you!!
Honestly, I really love this platform! I am currently studying Korean with a tutor on here and she’s so patient and so easy to talk and work with. And she’s very accommodating. But I love this platform because it allows me to reach out to tutors who can help me with my needs!
This app has been difficult from the beginning and just gets worse the more you use it. Interface is dysfunctional and there are so many kinks and bugs with the app. Their customer service reps are nice but sadly can’t fix anything or help. Sadly if you want to learn a new La gauge you’re kind of stuck. But prepare yourself to be constantly frustrated and spending more time talking to a their helpdesk than to your teacher. Just awful!
He is very dynamic and well known about learning techniques, in a very short time I have been able to enrich my vocabulary and increase my fluency. Excellent
I was learning Korean on my own. I have no language partner and really needed to speak and hear the language in order to progress. The growth I’ve experienced since learning with my tutor is tremendous!! They are reasonably priced and my tutor is patient, encouraging, and great at teaching!
My child(5 years old)likes her class and enjoy. She prepares really well with her presentation for the class. She knows what student needs to help. I Appreciate her.
I noticed that when you’re trying to offer a customized course to a student, you can tap “Course” to create one, but the duration comes out as 10 min no matter what you choose (25 min, 50min, etc). Please fix this ASAP so that tutors can provide the right lesson. 10 min is way too short!!

I’m new to the app and I have been taking lesson for Korean by a Korean native. I really enjoy my lessons but my app keeps kicking me out when I go to check my feedback from the teacher and when I try to write feedback myself. I’m not sure why it’s doing this and I have tried on two different devices but the problem remains.
We are fortunately finding Joyu lao-shi. My child had wonderful lessons with Joyu lao-shi. She was so open to discuss with us about our expectations and materials she will provide to teach. She assigned weekly hw to my child and guiding my kid with a smooth pace. I could see how my child will develop a better writing skill as well as gaining knowledge in Chinese. Thank you Joyu lao shi!
