Convenient to have on the device

Very convenient to have this on the device unfortunately might have to download it onto my tablet because a lot of times when the test question has a wiring diagram, the wiring diagram will disappear and you have to just kind of guess on the question wish the update would have fix that problem and also I wish this had a two-year update renewal instead of only a one year..

Good concept

It’s a good concept and works well. I don’t like the fact that because I started late it is coming down the wire to maintain my certification. My certs expire 12/31 and it’s September and I’m sitting at 6/8 on all but one it’s 5/8. Because my job REQUIRES current ase certs it would be nice if you were given small extensions as long as you are answering. Otherwise I may just get my 5 year certs and cancel app. Also I understand the idea of quizzing on NEWER technology but the test questions should not be what’s “introducing” us to them. That is what training is for. The tests should test our knowledge on what is currently being worked on in most auto repair shops and the general understanding of the systems being tested on. Dealerships give training and testing along with different levels on their new tech and systems because they will see them well before the independent side. ASE to me is testing and certification on the independent side and should not start to move away from that.

ase please help!

great idea with 1 MAJOR FLAW. no way to update your payment info either in the app over the phone or by logging into your my ase account online until it’s too late. my card info was on file and set to auto renew but i needed to change my payment info due to credit card fraud and couldn’t. i even called ase and was told i had to let the subscription expire then i could upload new credit card info. that’s what i did. this caused me to lose all my progress in the app and all the unanswered questions that i was going to go through. i had multiple tests that i only had to answer 2 more questions to get my 1 year extension. i had almost 100 unanswered questions. all lost cause ase didn’t provide me a way to update my card info. THANKS FOR NOTHING ASE!

PDF

The PDFs are way too small and difficult to see on a phone where app is meant to be used. Need to come up with better idea for diagrams and questions for use on a phone. In response to the answer I received. That’s just another thing we have to do along with figuring out what you are meaning when you don’t give all the information and details needed and answers are factually incorrect. Someone with real world experience needs to be involved in questions not just someone with book or computer knowledge. Questions are often to vague with not enough information and answers are simply wrong and explanation not plausible.

Good but needs improvement

Good idea but needs some work. Questions with pictures have a stretched picture making them hard to read. For example had an alignment question with picture of the angles and had to choose which condition would occur with the readings. Picture was so distorted that I couldn’t get read it and took an unlock guess. Otherwise questions are straight forward, multiple choice, that give you an option to eliminate the answers that don’t make sense.

Attention:ASE please read.

Three stars because I like the idea of this and the format. ASE PLEASE LISTEN: while trying to answer questions with diagrams on my phone- it is too small to read and you cannot just pinch to zoom. You have to enlarge the picture by itself and then go back and try to answer the question. All this while having no idea how much time you have to answer. I am missing questions not because I don’t know the answer, but because of the format. PLEASE at least put a countdown timer so we know how much time we have to work with. Adding the ability to pinch zoom in the question would be great also.

Crashing

After most recent update app is crashing upon opening, hard to recert when the app is not functioning…..questions are way to broad without enough information needs re-working. In response to the developer comments, I am an ASE recert technician, have an advanced level L1 recertification to which have scored above 85% on the original certification test along with the recert. Most recent proctored exams scored A1R 24/25 A6R 23/25 A7R 22/25 and A8R 25/25. In addition have owned/been running my own repair facility for 15+ years. So before you assume and make comments on what/whom your tests are designed for you may want to think about the clientele who is using your app.

Fantastic up-to-date questions encompassing latest model technology

I’m very impressed so far with the format of the App itself. Very cutting edge questions encompassing new technologies found on vehicles within the past few years. Some of the questions asked are so new, there’s a good chance most of us Master techs haven’t even had a chance to diagnose. The questions are well thought out and ample time is given to choose the answer.

It’s ok

I would have much preferred all the questions asked at once instead of waiting weeks for the next question. I would have also liked to see certification questions on here not just recertification, I want to get certified in another category but for that you will need to take the test at a test center which defeats the purpose of having the app in the first place. For those that live far from a test center I can see why this would be convenient. Some of the questions I have encountered do not seem actual real world scenarios ,but more like highest probability questions. It’s ok but I wouldn’t rely on just this app to hold you over.

It works

So you buy a year subscription to this app. After answering 8 months of questions correctly, you become recertified. If u miss questions, you have chances to retake what you missed… it’s fine and dandy to recert, however it’s only good for 1 year. They won’t tell you that by the time they send out your paper copy certificate, it’s after 12 months from when you originally subscribed. I passed all my tests at 8 months, then waited another 4 months for my subscription to end before I finally got my ASE certificate.

Best way to do ASE except!

This method works for all technicians but we really wish we can do our annual recertifications online too! For some of us our greedy employers demand ASE certificates at out cost let alone we lose pay going to your centers too! Centers are usually in very low rent districts far from our homes too. Even at one a week I would be for all retesting at home.

Be prepared

Overall I’m happy with this process. These are the latest and greatest test question ASE has to offer (with paid subscription of course.). However, every question seems to be tailored to questions on cars most technicians may not see for several years. I’ve only been asked one general ac diagnostic question so far ( 6 months in.) the other question have all been about r1234yf Freon WHICH MY SHOP DOESNT EVEN HAVE THE MACHINE TO CHARGE yet. 10k for a machine we would only use once a year.

Good concept

I like the concept of this app. It works well and it is a much easier way to maintain certification. I have a lot of certifications that require renewal and it takes a lot of time to renew them all. The only problem I found with this app is that it only has test A1-A8 as of right now. The annual subscription is $48 per year which is very reasonable. I hope this works out and more tests are added to the app.

Testing

Challenging and effective, makes you think and learn. Saves me valuable time. I think having questions often keeps us engaged and learning all year round. I can answer question anywhere anytime .

Love the app, love the concept.

My only complaint is with the content. Some manufacture-specific stuff should be left out or adequate description and operation info be provided with manufacture-specific questions. Other than that, love the app, love the concept of being able to maintain my certs instead of find testing centers! Very modern and this is the obvious evolutionary step for keeping up with my certifications.

Over the top

The app is great. It has a few issues, trying to zoom in on a wiring diagram is almost impossible. But the real issues are the questions. Way over the top. They ask questions about specific cars, and there tsb’s. Like your supposed to know tsbs off the top of your head. I got frustrated with the questions, then signed up for the five year tests. Passed all nine with flying colors (A1-A8 & L1) so i hope they fix the issues. And yes the class room questions are different, to me they were easier.

Been 2 months and no new questions.

Downloaded the app in February. Was given 15 initial questions and have received no new questions since. Just rechecked and says new questions should load Saturday, April 6. Still nothing. Great idea for app, delivery is poor. ***update - now says new questions available April 17 but still no questions. There is also no way of checking my account status, just a button to sync or logout. This app could have been good. Now it’s just another disappointment. (Too bad you cant give it 0 stars).

Students!!

Hey, I am apart of a Vo Tech high school studying auto technology and we are able to earn ASE certificates but my question is are students with entry level accounts able to use this app? I tried to log in with my student account and it wouldn’t accept it? If this isn’t a feature please look into it!! This is something that can be big!!

ASE renewal app a great learning tool.

At first, I was skeptical about using this new app, but after eight months now I’m really starting to like it. It’s really easy fast way to renew your tests without having to drive to the test center in the rush-hour traffic.

Renewal

I’d have to say if this is a renewal program you should be able to renew by taking the questions for what you’re renewing or is expiring as quick as possible to renew as quick as possible for the company that you work for. So think it would be best to do it all at once not having to wait for the questions.

I didn’t like this at first, although after using it for the first year. It has up to date questions and is easy it keep your certs up to date

Great ASE app

It’s easier to have this app, rather than having to go into a testing center. You can keep previous questions to review for second chance incorrect answers. Only about $50 per year.

Convenient but not ideal

For 10 years I never had a problem passing ASE tests until I started using this platform. The questions seem substantially more difficult, test equipment specific, and more often contain multiple correct answers. (Typical ASE). Example: Which driveline component will produce a vibration at 55 mph with frequency of 31hz. I’m a automotive technician not a NVH specialist.

Make questions available immediately

I like the idea of this app but you should be able to answer the the questions immediately not wait a whole year to extend your certificate.

Great Option!!

The renewal app gives an extramarital level of connivence and the ability of a continuous certification. I highly recommend and encourage this option.

Great app to get recertified.

Only problem is you get 1 question a month. So if your certs are about to expire then you wont be able to re cert for at least 8 months min. But worth it none the less.

Renew test

App is good but sick and tired 30 years over and over renew same ASE testes. I suggest who has same ASE 20 years just charge same amount like you charge renewals and renew an other 5 years.

Need more then 1 question a month.

Excellent idea for recertifications, if only we could get more then one question a month would be much better. Maybe 1 a week would be a great idea.

Great App

No need to go to the testing centers to renew. The questions are on point. You get the answer and the explanation why. You also have makeup questions if you get one incorrect. You need to start this app before renewal.

ASE renewal app

I got this app, thinking it would be convenient instead of rectifying. These questions are completely idiotic and have no relevant issues to anything. The real re cert questions are much better. From vibration frequencies to crazy specific manufacture, questions to experimental test questions. They are just all over the place. Would not recommend just recertify

New update

Just downloaded the new update and if you open the schematic you can’t close it out and can’t answer the question. It still shows a unanswered question but still says I answered it wrong. When I click on the unanswered question it just shows a blank screen.

Love everything ASE

Would it be cool to have an ASE convention in Vegas or Hawai’i every year? We could have vendors, classes and swap war stories. Maybe it could get big like SEMA! Until then, I love the ASE app.

Worst app update ever

I received an email today to update my ASE app because of the notification service. As soon as I did, NOTHING in my certs would show. I was able to fix this by syncing data but it’s now 10pm and I received 8 NOTIFICATIONS THAT I HAVE NEW QUESTIONS. It used to be one, now it’s a spammy, disruptive 8. Good job guys.

Due to the small screen there have been a few questions that I have timed out? Going back and forth reading question seeing results. Wish there was not a time limit or something to show how much time is left

Can’t sing in

I can logged in with no problem on my ASE wedsite, correct password at all. When I try to sign here it keep saying Email not authorize for ASE program.. I have ase certificates but can’t log in at all

Crap questions

I would have loved this app but the some of the questions are crap. They should be copying the questions right from the paper tests. Now they intentionally trick you and give 2 answers that legitimately could be correct.

I used my ase email to login and it said it’s not authorized to use this app.

Caution.

If you are endanger of your ASEs expiring do not use this app. The app shows certification expires in 2020, but until you complete 8 questions (1 question a month=8 month minimum) you won’t actually be certified. I asked for a refund and will do computer based testing.
