I’ve been using this app for years now enjoying my favorite books. It was yesterday I tried to link my account to another app (Warhammer Tv) and realized I don’t know what email I used in my black library app. thinking I’d be able to look in setting to find it I was shocked to find there is no settings icon or option. Only a restore purchase option and 3 quick app options. I feel this is a huge flaw and needs to be updated until this is fixed I won’t be using any other Warhammer apps because I don’t need to have them spread across all my different email’s trying to manage payment issues either. Please fix this
I have to start off by saying I love Black Library and the media they produce. And I have to say it's great to have so much that they have created in the audio format quickly available at your fingertips. Here is the problem, the audiobooks are formatted just like the books to have multiple tracks to correspond with chapters, but they don't work. Tracks are listed to have a run time of 0 seconds and you're stuck listing to a "prologue" track that goes on for for 8 solid hours. If you happen to lose your place you are in a bind. Since the tracks don't work you have to start back at the beginning and press the fast forward button, which only moves 30 seconds at a time btw, until you catch back up to where you were. When this app first came out I didn't have this problem, so far I've had 6 books with this problem. I hope it gets fixed soon.
Great audiobooks, but you are stuck with their feature-lite player. No ability to export or download any prior purchases to another player. Just be cognizant of this before you make any purchases.
I have to say this app has come a long way, it’s hard to find a warhammer audio you won’t like. Most are fair and price but it also depends on the author and how many people are involved in the making of it. The last full review made is obviously not relevant any more, seeing as how the issue was resolved and I have yet to run into any issues with the app in my year or so of having it. I’d also like to say that even if you have a very very poor connection the download time on the Audios (even the 20+ hour ones) download in minutes or seconds depending on how many you download at one time.
Many of the books have chapter selection problems. When youre talking about something 10+ hours long you need to be able to find your place. The app will not link with your other black library account and the content youve purchased will be mutually exclusive to their respective sources. Because... thats just the way it is bozo too bad. I have spent hundreds of dollars on this app and to be regularly blind sided with wacky errors or ‘o second’ chapter issues is ridiculous. Its just and audio player. If these were on itunes or if the app was attended to there would be Zero issues.
I adore the black library and Warhammer in general but this app is not the best way to experience it this moment. First and foremost Is no sleep timer! I like to listen to audio books as bed time stories (yes even with the brutal nature of Warhammer, makes it more fun) but without a sleep timer that Is impossible for me. Secondly I was also having some slight problems with it not keeping place or chapters being wonky. Please add a sleep timer and smash some bugs and I'll gladly rereview In the meantime unless the book is 99¢ I'll be using audible.
I had fallen behind on the Horus heresy, and I was pleased to find this app. I have a 2-3 hour commute everyday, and I have breezed through many books. However, I feel it would be nice if they would incorporate the ebook portion of this. Apple charges way to much for the ebooks when compared to the black library version. Help your followers out!
MOST IMPORTANT: if your books stop working (won’t download) BL’s policy is no refunds. However Apple will refund you your money very quickly for up to (I think) 3 months whether you’ve listened to it or not. You paid money to OWN the book; NOT RENT it. Yes, you may have listened to them but if you can’t listen to them anytime you want then get your refunds because this is a common problem! Things you should know: 1. No streaming. If you can’t download then you can’t have it. 2. No website cross over. If you bought it here, enjoy it here. Only. If you can download it. If you bought it on the website, enjoy it there. Only. 3. Zero customer support. I emailed them about it not working over a week ago and even posted on their Facebook page. Haven’t heard from them at all.
I love the Black Library. They produce an unbelievable amount of amazing story and lore. But the app needs to be updated. I redownloaded so I could listen to the amazing and rich lore at work. But it does not seem compatible with the current iOS. I can’t download any of the books I own nor the ones I just bought. It needs to be updated if it wants to continue, and honestly merge it with the ‘one warhammer’ account that is being pushed for all the various GW products. That could help things too. Willing to re-review after bugs and update complete
You can buy their product. The books are great. It doesn’t keep it place, is constantly losing it’s place, skipping around. It forgets where you were at when you shut it down. I have had success with some books, I have currently bought over 15 different books over the last year. Working through the problems. It is just so frustrating. I found that some of their books are now on Audible. Go there don’t waste your time and money on this app.
A friend of mine got me into the lore of 40K, and this place fuels the flames of intrigue. I love that y’all keep these stories in one convenient app, helps to keep track of everything. All it needs now is a notification option for when the deals pop up.
I wanted to like this app, but unfortunately it’s got stability issues. After about 40 minutes or so the audio will begin to skip and eventually the app will crash. It’s especially unstable if you attempt to run another app while you’re listening. Unfortunate because otherwise it’s a fairly convenient way to listen to Black Library books.
There is no connectivity between this app and your black library account where you have been making purchases for years. So anything you buy here doesn’t transfer back either. You’re safer buying from the website and transferring to iTunes. A shame that more effort didn’t go into this.
Well this is disappointing to me. I have bought a lot of audiobooks/dramas on the black library website, and it doesn't make sense that i cannot connect to that account and be able to download those that I have already bought. I was really looking forward to being able to buy these book on apple, so I am excited for that. I wish there was just a little more synergy between accounts. But oh well I guess we can't have it all.
Simply put this app is great when it works, it’s constantly plagued by bugs/issues. Think you’ll shoot them a quick email hoping for a response... think again they have the worst customer service which is surprising since Games Workshop’s normal customer service team is phenomenal.
Now that I can finally skip chapters and pick my time in the audi track. I can recommend this app. Linking the pic and app purchase would bump my rating to five stars.
Lost my whole library.. I was downloading a new book to add to my collection. The book would not load so I deleted the app as was advised by the app to try and fix it now none of the books I own will download. This app suffers from lack of updates by its devs but thats no surprise considering its a spawn of GW
Your black library website and audio app accounts are separate and you can't access your purchases between them? Seriously? This should have been step one on designing the audio app. I'll be back when the app is actually useful.
Seriously, all the books are randomly listed for that series. Please at least list the order and which books I would have and are missing from that list.
Purchases made via the web store and those made via the iOS app cannot be linked. This is a huge oversight, especially since you can't get the iOS purchases off of your device to play on a PC, etc. 🙄
Outside of not being able to download the files to my iTunes account, this app does what it says. I have had none of the glitches the others have posted. I even had to change devices and no problems there either. Best part for me, it's that the files are cheaper than mp3 or CD.
I really like this app and own tons of books on it, but cannot download any of them. Review would be a 4 if it worked. Some quality of life changes and a sleep timer would make it a 5.
I have over 30 audiobooks and as of Sunday I’m unable to download any. I click the album but the download doesn’t work. I’d wait till they work out that bugs before downloading.
The purchase option buttons on some of the novels will not fully load (the little circle just keeps on spinning, but no luck.) Would love to give BL money for an audiobook with these cheaper app prices, but I cannot do so due to this bug. Hopefully you'll repair it promptly. Also, it would eventually be nice to access the hundreds of dollars worth of books I've purchased from your website before this app came out instead of having to download them as zip files and importing them into iTunes. Your app description is not clear about this being a no-go option. Integrated platforms are important to consumers these days, a few things could be learned from Audible on that subject.
I bought horus rising, I am slaughter, and mission purge. mission purge works fine, I am slaughter chapter select doesn’t work and i must restart if I exit the app, and Horus rising will not play at all
I bought Age of Darkness for $40 to listen to on a long drive. It wouldn't download so I didn't have it on my drive. I had to delete the app, restore purchases and then it downloaded on the 2nd attempt. The 1st one stalled and gave up without explanation. The Chapters don't work - they just restart the book - very annoying - had to skip through 30 sec at a time to find my place. When I got into my car and started it over bluetooth the book restarted again! Not a good experience for such an expensive audiobook.
I really like it, for what it is I enjoy what it has to offer no other app I have found gives you access to such great stories. some flaws like skipping to other chapters or if you buy bulk you can't skip to other books but I really enjoy it non the less! Great app
This app needs to be linked to our black library accounts. I will not purchase a single book from this app until they are. The reasoning for this is that I dont like the idea of being forced to use an app that only runs on specific devices to have access to my media. For example, what if one day I prefer the Samsung Galaxy to my Iphone, or Microsoft Surface Pro to my IPAD. I will not be device locked.
Worked great for the first two books I bought, it even keeps your place in you close out the app. The second two I bought aren't downloading properly, they download as a 0:00 book/chapters. If they fix this I will be giving 4 stars and 5 if you can link to the other books purchased from the web site.
I can't play any of my old audio dramas, very disappointed
Very disappointed it looks like a great app but since you can't play any of the old audio dramas. It just doesn't cut it please please please let us be able to play all the old audio dramas that We own and I own quite a bit then I will give five stars.
Got the app, but don't plan on buying any audiobooks until I can link my accounts together. I've been buying the 40k audio dramas for years, and have no desire to pay for them a second time.
This app is a great idea. Unfortunately there seems to be no way to sign into your BL account and download your audiobooks and there is no way i'm paying a second time for audio books i already own.
What can I say. I downloaded the app, bought a book. The book plays for less than a minute and then I get silence. Hopefully the working version comes out soon.
I really enjoy the books they put out but I notice if you stop listening and return later that the app doesn’t pick back off where you left off. It defaults back to the very beginning, it’s very frustrating scrubbing through the chapters trying to find where you left off. This makes it a one star review otherwise I would have rated it higher. Also books seem to be over priced $35 for a 6hr book is not competing with the pricing audible by amazon or other chains.
