Great overall of news and sports I even check my horoscope on the e edition I’ve read the herald for 65years and wouldn’t miss Howie Carrs articles each week being able to read it on my phone is the best keep up. The good job
This app is terrible. It’s plagued by pop up video ads and signs you out all the time. Then won’t let you sign back in. Read the New York Post instead. The herald is a joke
The recent reviews made me hesitant to get an e subscription to the Herald. I have an old iPad (iOs 9). This loads quickly, pages change easily, resolution is fine. No complaints.
How does this app have a 4.4 rating? This is an improvement, the layout is terrible. The same headlines are repeated in the different sections as you scroll down. Why do we have to see the same headlines more than once? I agree with another review, there was nothing wrong with the layout of the previous app. I don’t get it? Someone or some department is supposed to feel good about the job they did with this, better go back to the drawing board!
In 2022 you should be able to swipe to the next article. instead the user must use a back button that rarely works. Make the default screen the news page. Currently the user has to navigate back and forth to different subsections or select news from the menu. The content is mediocre at best. Save your money.
First, as others have stated the articles appear more than once on the main home page. Then two days ago I was asked to create an account to continue reading articles for free. This morning there are no free articles to read - opening every article results in a prompt to sign up for a paid subscription. Removing the app.
Headline Print is extremely small and you can’t see who the columnists are without clicking on the story. Also, when they killed the previous app there was no heads up. It just stopped working. More though needs to go into design and implementation.
Not even worth the price of a subscription. No front page, articles scattered around. Even worse set-up than the printed version of the paper. I signed-up for the digital version because I couldn’t always get a printed version, and I’m only 25 miles from Boston. How amazing that a once Great newspaper has declined so quickly!!!!
The font setting doesn’t work. At its largest setting it never changes from the minute size. The layout of the articles and sections, if really there are any, is illogical and useless. I’m not sure what was wrong with the last version of the app that drove this downgrade. And how is the app rating still over 4? Given the ratings I read that looks false.
The latest release is terrible. This app has been getting less user friendly for the last year or so and every new release just makes it worse. You used to be able to change articles and even sections with relative ease. Now it’s just painful to use. Guess for a free app, you get what you pay for...
Have had a paid digital subscription, but get directed to a page selling subscriptions. Choose log in alternative if you have an account, log in and with great fanfare get sent back to the buy a subscription page! Must be the Herald’s version of build back better!
Shame on the Herald for telling you that you must set up an account in order to view the content. When you do, they block you from reading anything until you pay for a subscription. This is no longer a free app and the Herald is being very deceptive in saying that it is free.
I like the sports coverage and follow the Boston teams while living in Scottsdale AZ. I am able to get the scores, trades and info on the Red Sox, Bruins, Celtics and Patriots.
They want you to pay for everything that you read. Most of the same articles or stories are available on Fox News or NECN for free why would I pay the Herald. Paid subscription required
I have tried very very hard to like this App. However, it is simply too difficult to navigate and takes a lot of time better spent elsewhere on other newspaper apps.
This app is a disappointment. I don’t find it user friendly at all. It takes too much time to go through. I’ll probably find something else to get my Boston News.
Same comments as WSK 25.... repeating the headline over and over? Why? Annoying and adds no value! And having technical problems ... scrolling on screen isn't working. Great!
No login button so I can’t log in to my account. “Restore subscription” button can’t find my subscription. I do have a subscription. Also, they have very few articles!
Readers can adjust the font size in the articles themselves but not on the home page where the articles are listed. The app has to have the smallest font of any app I’ve ever seen.
This latest "tweak" update is so confusing to maneuver. So much "white screen" and hunting and pecking to find relevant articles. Very disappointed in the "new look" to the Herald app.
The new site does not allow seeing the tabloid view which is what I want to read. The new format is not very welcoming. Need to have the format that we would see at the newsstand.
The November 2022 update completely destroyed this app. I have cancelled my Herald online subscription and will find another source for my Boston news. Whomever engineered that update should be immediately fired. HORRIBLE.
As others have said, the product is amateurish & seemingly without oversight. Been this way for years so presuming they don’t care. Will cancel subscription.
Not one good thing to say about this new version. Far too difficult to find specific types of articles. The herald has totally stepped backward with this one.
It’s a decent paper, especially the very funny articles by Howie Carr and the point/counterpoint opinion pieces. but I don’t think it’s worth the subscription cost. Just my opinion.
Heralds new app is terrible! Print small and not packaged correctly! Please return to previous app soon! I will delete and find another source of Boston news
