So i tried it out on objects to see if this app is big and bad but it thought a penny was a bug! Oh and it thought my pants were a monarch and my pants are gray oh and it thinks everything is a Asian lady beetle hey so it keeps on glitching and I have to delete it I had to delete four times but now I can’t get it again can you fix it from Rylee
I had this on my iPhone for a few months because it was fun and mostly identified correctly! I deleted because I was not using it anymore, and because I needed extra storage in my phone. I just downloaded it so I could find out what type of spider the one I found was; I took a decent picture and put it in the app. It was a brown spider with black stripes and white stripes on each side of its abdomen. It said it was a pill bug… I thought maybe it was a bad photo so I took one with better lighting; It said it was a northern honey bee. I don’t know what happened! This app used to work!
I seen a bug that I did not know what it was and this app got it straight on this is a very educational i’m happy this app exists. it deserves five stars truthfully this is a very good free app. this is the best bug indemnify I ever had in my life I recommend you to download this app because it is the best I can figure out what bug is what thank God this app is the best. thank you for whoever created this app.
This works pretty good, but sometimes if you don’t line up the squares properly, you get another result. I’m not sure about you guys, but it’s working fine for me. It also doesn’t work really well with small bugs, which I can understand, but otherwise, pretty solid app
This app is the worst, it call my new pet spider a house fly. I was expecting something much better. Also after Avery attempt there was another add! I get that adds are how they make money but it was every time a submitted a photo! I even got a picture with all 8 legs in it and the eyes and details, and it still called it a house fly. The 3 responses that I always got were: common house fly, picture winged fly, and no results. I would not recommend one bit. Awful app.
I had this app on my iPhone and it worked wonderfully. We used daily as I have 2 boys who are really into insects. We also loved going through our list of insect pictures that we got over the year. I got a new iPhone and used the iCloud to reinstall all my apps. This one was a favorite, but when I downloaded the update it is completely inaccurate now. It’s such a bummer. It also didn’t save our previous snaps. What happened to this amazing app?
I usually don’t write reviews, but I felt the need to give positive feedback for this app after it identified a bug that no other app could identify. Thanks to this app, I was able to identify the pest and properly treat my plants.
I tried two different distinct pictures of spiders I had pics of and it reported them back as being one a mantis and the second one some sort of grass bug located clear across the country and like the first didn’t look a thing like the pics I provided nor were they even close! Disappointed because it is a free app that doesn’t provide even slightly accurate results
A bit disappointed. Has to use a different app for identification. This one identified a reticulated net-winged beetle as a monarch butterfly; identified a wolf spider as a honey bee, and a lone star tick identified as a forest bug.. Not instilling much confidence in this app. I’d it works for you, I’m happy for you. My experience has thus far been lackluster..
This app is great for finding out that bug in your yard. But when I try to look up “fruit fly” and “fungus gnat”, it says no results were found. Yes, it wouldn’t have every bug, but fruit flies are not those strange bugs that no one knows about. If you love laughter, then get it. But if you don’t, stay far away from it.
This app will waste your time. I’ve ensured all my photos meet the recommended parameters (one insect, sharpened image, no blurr, full insect is in frame, full daylight, etc.) nonetheless, I have yet to see this app correctly identify a single specimen. This may sound like a joke, but it’s not: this app can’t tell the difference between a wood tick and a black ant. Nor can it differentiate a carpet beetle from a honey bee. Not to mention you have to watch an ad for each picture you submit. I never write app reviews, but I feel in this case it would be a disservice not to. Don’t be like me, don’t download this app, don’t waste your time.
This app wants access to your entire photo gallery instead of just your selected photos. There’s a reason this app is free. Be cautious because the only reason I can think of for this to be free, but want your entire photo library means they are wanting access to all your photos for some reason.
I used this on a bug two different photos and they both said different things which I looked it up and it wasn’t accurate at ALL a whole different color I showed a tiny brown bug and it told me mine was a moth and I put up another photo and it said it was a type of ladybug which was WHITE. wouldn’t recommend this app.
This app is amazing! We had this giant wasp flying around our porch, and after scanning it, I figured out it was an eastern cicada killer wasp! Definitely would recommend this app!
this app is def not the best bug id app. but it has wayyyy to many adds and for some reason i dont trust some of the analysis’s it makes. so if i were u I would look at reviews before buying it so ur not wasting ur time and energy. so i dont recommend it. at all. pls read this and don’t get.
Hello! I installed this app a couple weeks ago to scan a potato bug, and it said it was a cicada! I then deleted it, reinstalled yesterday to scan my pet slug, George, and it thinks he is a White Sphinx Caterpillar. I scanned him again today with a different photo, now it thinks he is a monarch. Please fix this. 🥺
This is the absolute worst bug identifying app I’ve used. It has been wrong (not even close) every time I’ve used it. I check what it gives me on google just to be sure. Even its own percentage of being accurate is very low on the bugs I’ve tried to identify.
I’ve taken live pictures and used my gallery. The pics are close up and good. The identifier is saying these are things that don’t even look like the pictures and it has very low probability that it is correct. Even the app knows it’s wrong!
I submit a very clear and focused picture and it gives me a random bug name, then submit it again and it Gives me another random bug. I’m %100 sure this app just randomly pics out bug names without any sort of identification knowledge.
Trying to figure out if we have bees or wasps invading our home. Took a picture 4 times and results were some sort of moth, some sort of mosquito, some sort of beetle, and a bald hornet. Still don’t know what’s invading our home.
I’m taking pictures of some sort of water insect. Maybe a damsel fly nymph, with a cool triple tail. This program said there was a 30% match for a lady bug. So I tried to get a better shot. Now it says it’s a 35% match for an emerald moth. And it shows me tons of intrusive ads. I don’t think so.
I picked limited access to pictures and now you’re telling me to enable pictures?? why can’t you just take the two pictures I picked? I do not want you to have access to my 3000 pictures. Sorry no can-do.
Don’t waste your time. Not a single correct answer. I tried 3 different times for 3 different bugs each. It gave me a different answer every time. The highest confidence reading I received was 78% once and it was no where near the same bug. Next highest was 11%.
I tried to identify a type of ant I found in my kitchen (probably a carpenter ant). First attempt stated it was a Western Honey Bee. Second attempt stated it was a some sort of lady beetle. Third attempt repeated Western Honey Bee. Forth attempt stated it was an Argentine Ant. I looked up pictures of Argentine Ants and this ant was obviously very different.
I sent a picture of a spider, trying to specifically identify the type. The app said it was probably a bumblebee. That made me laugh. I will try again a few mor other insects bei delete the app.
Tried to identify 2 different spiders. Told me 2 different types of bugs, non of which were spiders. Both spiders were identified as a western pill bug and a second attempt told me the wolf spider was a mantis. The second spider is actually a brown recluse.
I have allowed access to selected photos in the settings, but the app keeps saying access not allowed. I suspect it wants me to select Full Access. Not going to happen
Tried getting a couple bugs identified and this came up with insects that didn’t even resemble the ones I had taken pictures of. Don’t waste your time downloading it.
This app doesn't identify the bug at all. The insect I'm looking to identify looks like a tick but the app kept showing different things every single time including a butterfly as well. Just removed it.
I really only used this app for spiders and it got EVERY SINGLE ONE WRONG. Didn’t even identify them as spiders. One spider I did, it said it was moth. Another spider it said it was a beetle. Then I got like butterfly for another spider. Like wth???? This app has no clue what spiders are apparently.
Tricked me into thinking it could tell me what kind of bee is nesting on my front porch under the cushion of the chair, I was a foot away and it still didn’t know, thanks for wasting my time and money
I never did get it to work. It wanted to install chrome (already installed on my iPhone) so it either wanted to access my private data or is a poor app.
Took a clear picture of a particular spider. Submitted several different angles. App was not even close in properly identifying insect. Never once did it even recognize it was indeed a spider. Awful.
I submitted the same picture of a spider 2 times The first time it said it was a mantis and the second it said it was a moth. Not sure how a long spindle legged black spider could be mistaken for either of those
I have aphids and something else on my tomato plants and I wanted to know what the red thing is and what the round brownish thing is, but this app could only identify the one I already knew, aphids.
Same photo produced 3 different (wildly different) identifications. Checked with 2 other apps and did further research online and I discovered none were accurate.
