The school I work at uses it school wide and I feel like it’s working just fine for us. I only use it to post important notifications to my classroom Parents or to private message them in regards to something about their children. My problem is that I’ve been using it for three years now and I have old messages from parents of previous students that I would like to delete. I have not found a way to delete them. Can you please create a way to delete old messages?
This app is what you get when a developer spends 90% of their time figuring out how to monetize an app, and 10% of their time making a usable app. I don’t understand the glowing reviews. Must be from a review farm or something. Every inch of this thing is filled with obtrusive ads. I get it, you need to make money. But when that is clearly done at the cost of any usability, you’re doing it wrong. Be careful you don’t accidentally tap somewhere when you’re trying to navigate, because you’ll be kicked out to one of their sponsors. Conveniently , the screenshots don’t show ANY of the ads you will be bombarded with inside this app. I only use this because my child’s teacher uses it. I would never choose this app/service voluntarily. Even the emails are awful. Do better. I have apps that find a balance between ads and usability. It is possible.
This app is easy to use and once u sign up everything else is done for you which made it a lot easier exspcially when u have kids of all ages , gives u information on all ur kids even if they are on different schools. Also u have everything right at ur finger tips . You don’t have to go into a bunch of different apps to find out one thing and I like that , when u don’t have time to mess with all kinds of passwords . I get alerts on everything that is important exspcially if there’s a half day. So far I haven’t run into any issues, keep up the good work !!!
This app use to be better. Last year it was simple. This year they jacked it up with log-in social media linking and it signs me out after every use. I can’t “activate” my profile even when I click on “activate now”… The ads get in the way of important information the teachers are posting. I missed several cool posts about my child’s first day. Luckily I did some digging and found them after another parent asked if I had seen the first day of school pictures… And lastly there just aren’t enough parent options to filter through what is being sent to me notification-wise. Super not user friendly. Will be recommending a different app to future teachers. :/
Primarily used for parent communication/daily notes; it does that- to the bare minimum I found the inbox system to be extremely cumbersome. Sometimes to continue scrolling for messages, I would have to close out and reopen the app. This lead to me using my email to check messages, however there is no way to clear the notifications from the app in bulk. So while I’m caught up on parent communication, I have over 1000 notifications on the app, which can only be cleared by going through each message, which makes me close and reopen the app. Add some more user friendly features and this app can go from being just okay, to great
We just started using this. I haven’t had any issues with ads like many other have noted, but maybe my district paid for an ad-free account? The biggest downside is that there are no badge notifications for messages. The only notifications are in-app (so I’d have to open the app to see if there are messages) or emails. Thankfully, emails have worked just fine. It would just be so much easier if the app notifications were badges and not just inside the app.
I have been using app the whole time my child has been enrolled at Bridge Elementary. It’s nice to be able to get any and all the information from one app. I think most teachers are using this app so I don’t have to login to several different ones just to see what my child is doing or what events are coming up etc. Keep up the good work ClassTag!!! Michelle
I would not use if the school didn’t force it. And I agree with another review. Welcome to a developer trying to monetize the heck out of an app. There are so many ads it’s infuriating to navigate. And if YOU want ad free then you have to pay. Screw you. I don’t want to use it anyways. Remind was/is such a better app. I hope no one pays and burns this app. Worthless. Update: worthless response from the developer. The school forces us to use it. Doesn’t pay for the ad free version. And then, the developer expects the parent to pay to remove ads. How about you quit being annoying and remove the bazillion ads. Or just keep a small banner at the bottom that stays out of the way.
The app is decent. I can understand having advertisements in an app that is free but some of the advertisements are placed and worded as if they are requirements for the class. For example there was a Kleenex ad that said something like “Every kid needs Kleenex in class.” Then it had a link to purchase them. If you didn’t read it closely you would think it was a requirement from the teacher or school. I see a lot of those kinds of disingenuous ads that look organic to a teacher’s post. I feel it is very intentional and very deceptive.
Last year it was so easy to log on. Now I can’t even reset my password. It shows I have a registered account but I never received an email to reset/recover. I reached out to my school so hope tech support there can help. But I submitted a ticket directly to school status to reset my password for me and they sent me a message back saying the received my message and they’ll contact me in a couple of days to see if it is working correctly.. well it’s NOT working to begin with. Why not just make the change then send me an email.
First, let me say that I love the idea of this app, and it is helpful for the school to communicate messages to parents. However, the app itself is buggy and frustrating. It is constantly refreshing content and reloading itself and losing the place of whatever I was reading, or worse, writing. It is very frustrating to be composing a message to the school or a teacher only to have the app do a refresh or reload and simply lose whatever you've typed. It is so bad that I have taken to composing in a notes app and then copy/pasting into the app as a workaround.
It was filled with ads that covered up buttons and words. I said whatever and paid for premium. The ads never went away. My renewal date said invalid and I was never notified of an upcoming charge- overdrafted my account because they made it look as though automatic renewal wasn’t happening and didn’t even show any date. The school barely used this app they insisted they were going to. The entire experience was frustrating. It constantly begs you to donate money and supplies but also said lists weren’t verified by the teacher… bet they were going to not even get supplies to the teachers.
I Love being able to communicate with my child’s teacher most any time. It’s much more convenient on both ends, Instead of having to call and leave messages or interrupt class, she gets to the message when she has a chance instead of rushing on the phone bc it was in the middle of something important. Thank You ClassTag!
I appreciate the desire to serve teachers and offer the platform for free. However, the content I get from ClassTag is 90% ads. The ad sits between title and the subject. In a recent email update it was little title, giant ad, little subject, giant ad again. When I view messages from the teacher, the message pane slides off screen because we need to scroll down to make room for ads. The advertising is done so poorly and over the top, I have no idea why I would pay for the product. It leaves me zero confidence they could deliver a good experience.
It has my brcvpa teachers witch is very fun because they have this app that is fun for kids who need help with numbers, math, and science I love this app so much that I cant stop saying it,this helps us learn and all that stuff witch is possible to do and very fun for pre-k,1st grade,2nd grade,3rd grade+ helps with problems and mistakes that help you,and this is why I love class tag!
This app, compared to the one we used last year, is absolutely awful. Heck, even stand alone without a comparison, it’s awful! It’s slow, glitchy, takes far too long to load up. Plus, we get notifications for stuff, go in to view it, and 99% of the time the posts don’t even exist on the app yet! I absolutely do not recommend this app! If you’re a teacher, please choose a different app to connect with your students guardians!!!
We’ve been through them all, or so it seems. This year it’s Class Tag. Be prepared for a million ads (or pay to remove them - hello school equity issues!), and a clunky interface that makes it difficult to navigate (comms with teacher vs app?!) Notifications pop up and then there’s nothing new in the app. I don’t need an entire section devoted to Walmart. Just a simple, streamlined way to send/receive messages & read announcements from teacher. Really wish my school had at switched.
I have received more emails about sponsored products than I have about my child's class that I apparently can’t opt out of even though I opt out of everything. This app is a burden. Will be deleting if it doesn’t get better. Spam emails are the worst and I’ve only had this app for a week. Using the apps free option and in no way would I ever want to subscribe for $4 a month just to not be bothered by ads. I can delete the app and get the same thing.
This app has helped me to keep my information organized and easy to find for my parents! I found that this helps me to keep my parents informed and am easy to reach for any type of collaboration with parents!
Given classes have more than 15 students ( and each student having two parents) the max of 15 recipients now makes this application useless for group communication between parents. Also, there needs to be a way to look at the full class list and check off a bunch of names at the same time; instead you have to type each child's name one by one in the search box.
I never write reviews. I hate using this app, after going from class dojo to this, I’m very spoiled. Only using because my child’s teacher is using it. This app is slow, and almost every time I open it, it tells me to reopen to update, but when I try to update, there is never an update. The other times I open the app, it automatically sends me to an outside website. I wish I could completely delete this app.
Great way for me to stay connected with my sons teacher and find out the latest things going on at his school. Way different than when I was a kid! Thank you.
Great app really helps parents keep up with their children work at school. Easily accessible to parents and is a great way to communicate with teachers at any time parents feel the need. Greats App 5 Star Review
If you ever sign up as a parent to receive notification from the teacher. Class tag would send you hundreds of ads from different advertisers. The worst part is that you can’t really manage the notifications. If you are sign up for your class only, they will still send you promotional emails. I works in the mobile app industry and I know this is poorly done.
This app is so glitchy and there are SO many ads. The pages bounce around while you’re trying to scroll and it freezes randomly. Half the time I have to open and kill the app 3-4 times because the app loads to an all white screen after spinning for a solid minute. My app is up to date and none of my other apps are this bouncy. It’s not my brand new phone it’s the app itself
Love this app. It gives me access to contact my grandson’s teacher by private message. Always a great app to find out activities and events going on during the school year.
I understand the need for ads when something is free but I can’t even use it. I currently can’t reply to a private message from my child’s teacher because there’s an ad covering where I am supposed to reply. The x doesn’t work to exit the ad. Really frustrating. I guess I’ll just send an email to reply.
Raised $285 in less than 12 hours. Some of my kids cried!!
Love it love it love it, wish I’d known about it sooner. I have. Shared this with every tea her I know! $285 raised in less than 12 hours. Some of my students cried! ♥️
The app would be great if the apps weren’t constantly popping up or rerouting you for the ad to an internet page! If it’s not the ads then you have to reload your page sometimes multiple times a day which they say is because they are “pushing out updates”. Going back to class DOJO next year!
The ads are obnoxious when it’s mostly just a web app. My opinion isn’t going to change this but if enough people complain, maybe. I do t mind paying to get rid of them but only if they are non-obstructive to begin with. As for the app features, it’s pretty good. One on one chats work great. Group chats and comments to posts work well.
This app is effectively a virus, at least given the breadth of use granted by the supposed privacy policy. Your data is harvested and combined with third party data sources to make you a lucrative advertising target. All so we can talk to our kids’ teachers. It’s ridiculous. And the subscription price is a laughable $50+ per year without any guarantee that the data collection will stop. I can’t offer suggestions to improve the app. The app makers will predictably claim that adware keeps the app free. I understand. But this app shouldn’t exist. We should be able to communicate with teachers without selling ourselves to advertisers.
The platform was shifted to this for this school year and this is by far the worst. I get emails with specifically only advertisements more than school updates. The general school announcement don’t is very small with advertisement being absurdly large. Not recommended app.
My kid’s teacher from a couple years ago used ClassTag. Now, his new teacher uses it- except this app won’t let me sign into my old account, or create a new one with my email or phone number because they are associated with my old account. This means I’d have to create a new email or get a new phone number just to use the app. Absolutely ridiculous.
I have had parents tell me that they do not really like Class Tag because the ads really bother them. A couple of parents who are also teachers even suggested I use a different platform for parent communication.
Screen for the unpaid tier is half full of ads. It also kicks you over to Safari to show an ad immediately upon launching this app. You might not have much choice if your child’s teacher uses ClassTag. But other apps do the same thing, but better.
Pretty decent messaging app. Though unless you pay for it the adds are pretty intense but all in all it’s a good tool for communicating between school and home.
Every time I use the app it asks me to verify email address. It hasn’t ever changed. And I’m not getting notifications from the app as my settings say I should. Parents and teachers both are missing out on important information since the app is working properly. Something has changed in the last year. Fix this app
Please do not donate to teachers using this app. It is better to either donate directly to the teacher or ask for something you could send with your kiddo. It is absolutely infuriating to see parents donate money only for it to be turned into coins and the supplies teachers have to pick from are outrageously overpriced. A three pack of disinfectant wipes for the equivalent of $19? Absurd.
It works ok.. but wit takes forever to load whatever announcement that comes up in notifications. As a software developer, this is a big problem. 10-15 seconds is far too long.
