The company has a lot of potential including all great features that comes with the membership, but one of the greatest features that used to attract members including myself was having a digital card that could be added to your apple wallet when you owns a iPhone you were able to have access to your digital card instead of a piece a paper that they want you to print out now and put it on your physical wallet where potentially could get destroyed that sounds crazy and make us feel like we going backwards in progress. instead of getting better, I’m sorry but by you guys removing the access of some type of features that you started and became successful with it not only it sounds unfair but also a doesn’t make sense having a business sometimes requires some type of obligation with customers.
I rely on this app as it allows me to access updated state laws when I travel. Unfortunately it is now unusable on my iPhone 8 with the two most recent iOS updates (13.6, 13.6.1). I used to be a mobile App developer so I've done the usual delete the app, hard reset the phone and reload. It initially works fine until I log in, then it crashes after about 40 seconds. Upon reloading I get a blank app (no newsfeed) then it crashes after about 5 seconds. Not sure what happened but its something you guys may want to look into. Meanwhile I will have to rely on the web page version which is not as convenient. Otherwise its really useful and functional.
I have been a member for about a year now and I’m currently in the works of furthering my education and becoming an instructor. Having said that I attended the USCCA expo in Louisville, Ky and I must say I have absolutely NO complaints. Staff was friendly, and helpful when needing to be directed to a certain booth or class. Tons of important and helpful info filled the room as well as very nice firearms and accessories. From ohio to KY I definitely wasn’t disappointed and will be attending many more. Finally, I carry 24/7 and I live in a rough neighborhood so the peace of mind I have knowing that the USCCA has my back should a situation arise let’s me sleep peacefully at night with my family. If you not a member, well you should be. It’s not a matter of if something will happen it’s when!!!
I am a member of the app. I purchased it to educate myself on gun ownership and the responsibility that comes with it. In the beginning, all of the training videos would work fine then after about two weeks or a month later the website is showing an error message that says bad request cookies are too large. What happened? I use the app for everything educational and now I have nothing to educate myself on my responsibility and increase my gun knowledge. I honestly love this app it is very educational and informative about firearms and laws. I know it's worth the membership when the app is working properly. I gave it 2 stars because I paid for a service that is not working properly and it frustrated me. The app has no major problem other than the training videos not playing.
UPDATE: I downloaded the app again to see if they fixed the issues. They didn’t. But now it has a terribly unreadable dark color scheme to match the unusable features. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I’m not a member of USCCA because they offer seriously insufficient coverage compared to comparably priced plans (likely wouldn’t even cover a full trial). They do have a great magazine, though, so I got this app to read it and also for the reciprocity map. Sadly, both of those app features are not very good. I subscribe to their great magazine and would love to read it in the app. Unfortunately, unless you plan to read it cover-to-cover in one sitting and never switch out of the app, reading the magazine in the app is a nearly unusable experience. If you switch out of the app, it refreshes back to the news feed when you bring it forward again. It doesn’t remember the issue or the page you were on. Since I often flip back and forth to my Notes app to take notes as I’m reading, this makes it completely unusable. The reciprocity map, too, doesn’t save details. It doesn’t save your home state or the permit switch so you need to select them every time you open the map. I finally gave up on the app and deleted it. It’s just as easy to go to their website.
After the last update the app has been having me crossing state lines even though I am just traveling about 15 miles in a horizontal line at least 15 miles from the actual state line. Really frustrating trying to use the app with the location active all the time and it telling me that I am somewhere that I am not! It won’t let me include a screenshot but it is available to be seen.
There seems to be a lot of criticism of this app for minor issues. But if you carry any level of USCCA insurance, and are an iPhone user, you need this app because you can add your membership card to Apple Wallet. It includes instructions for when you are forced to defend yourself AND the USCCA hotline number. There’s nothing worse than trying to remember where you put such information in a real emergency. It can’t get any easier than being in your Apple Wallet. To me, it’s worth 5 stars for that alone.
I use my membership for the peace of mind their incident support offers and the solid visibility of reciprocity. It’s saved me loads of time researching which nonresident permits would best benefit me. My only reservation, which is why I give it four stars instead of five is that I can’t find how to update my membership card in the iOS wallet, so I am stuck with an expired card I can’t figure out how to update, even though my account is current. It shouldn’t be hard to update an iOS wallet card.
Well, if I’m being honest, I would say that I love USCCA from originally just being an insurance holder, to being an RSO certified underneath of you, and then a USCCA instructor. But it goes much deeper than that because anytime I needed something you guys answered, anytime that I’ve had an issue we resolved it, and I’ll always recommend you to anyone, anytime, everywhere that I go! ❤️💯🙏 - RedBeardGunz
It need to be updated. I like the app and everything it stands for so I got it 5 stars you can’t give them enough credit for this but the app does need updating The map doesent update and show the correct statesbut you can read the list just fine just have to ready though which is fine I can read so it’s just a minor gripe.
Well it’s now my turn to express frustration about the app. I give it a 2-star for effort. In my case, the app will not open stories. I just get a picture and a few sentences of the article and no ability to open and read the whole thing. This of course renders the app useless. I suspect there is just too much advertising crammed inn, causing this and a slew of issues others are describing. Seems USCCA has had a good thing going but without the app, it kind of leaves out those who support it.
I really like this app. News feed are always a good fun short daily read that has helped me make several excellent decisions on a few purchase. Easy to find state laws and honored carry states. Concealed Carry Magazines are great for learning, finding everything you need for safe carrying, passing time or just destressing. My most used app.
I have been a member for a couple years and like the app and the positive changes with the new release. Having to log in every time in the old version really sucked. I would like to see more features to include a calling feature for the legal team and more up front and ready advice if needed to help when your stressed. Otherwise thanks for always improving and being a great insurance and educational company!
Ive been in the USCCA from the very early ( baby ) days of xerox pages. Through the early ( teen ) years of publication what it has become now with this App and beyond if you carry, or are considering the benefits The USCCA is the best resource and this app only makes the best better and the battle continues up and over the next hill as we go into 25+ years into the future. Great application , Great organization getting even Greater in the future.
App has great information and is usually great to use. Recently, many of the news feed articles are loading but are cut off and can’t be scrolled down to read. I tried deleting the app and reinstalling but it did not solve the problem. I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max and it could be related to an iOS upgrade. Who knows. Extremely frustrating.
Hello, The app was working great until just a couple of days ago, starting August 27th, 2020. Every time I pull up the app, it acts like it wants to load and then just stalls and closes. Kind of annoying since I’m my phone more than a PC during certain time in the day. Other than that, when the app was working it was great. The only issue was pulling up the CCW map.
The app works great for news feed and laws but for some reason it always shows an “internal server error” when I try to log in. I’ve reset my password and tried reciprocity, the uscca protector app, and this one. All 3 display server errors when trying to log in. Basically making all 3 apps unusable. Hopefully they’ll fix it soon as many ccw owners rely on this app for its convinience as opposed to having to sign in through a web page.
I have been a member since before the USCCA offered insurance and have always been very impressed and happy with the service I have received. I would have given 10 stars if it was an option. I especially appreciate the monthly payments option as I am on a fixed income.
I have been a proud, supportive member of the USCCA since July 2016. This is a great app which incorporates most every feature pertaining to the USCCA. It is very user friendly and informative. My only “complaint” is the inability to view the individual state CCW laws on my iPhone SE. (The iPhone SE is the same physical size as the iPhone 5 series and incorporates the internal circuitry of the iPhone 6 series).
V1.0.36 reporting in Splash Screen even though the App shows V1.0.37 as being released 2 mos ago. No addl updates show as available on the App Store. App opens up momentarily attempts to refresh data and then crashes after about 10-15 seconds. iOS 14.0.1 iPhone 11 Pro. I attempted to manually close the App, as well as delete and reinstall the app but the behavior is still the same. Please Fix.
I’m a USCCA member, and this app offers a great amount of account Access to the reciprocity map to the concealed carry magazine. However; the one issue I seem to have is even though I’ve logged into my account; it doesn’t register that I have an active membership. Once this issue is fixed; this app will be near perfect. However until it’s fixed it will remain at 2 stars from me
USCCA is easily one if the best decisions I’ve made and the peace of mind with my Platinum membership (considering upgrading to Elite). Cust Ser has always been awesome and the app has continually been updated and is now a true resource. Thx so much for the continuous updates and improvements and if you could simply add fingerprint id to the app you will easily have 5 stars! Will always be a proud USCCA member regardless
Nice app don’t get me wrong. But I wish as a member we had access to more like the training and online courses possibly. I use mostly my phone and don’t have access to a desktop/laptop or a tablet. Hoping in the future maybe the app will be revamped and can include access to everything we get through the desktop site.
I’m not sure why this app will not allow me to access my account, but I’ve tried deleting and reinstalling, resetting the password, and checking for updates. It’s useless to me and every other member if this is how this app functions.
The reciprocity map and the notifications when you cross state lines are really nice. USCCA offers excellent content and the app is a great companion. Couple of suggestions - it would be nice if the magazine part recalled where I left off. I am not always able to read it all at one time. Also maybe offer video content.
Downloaded for the map and when you hit the button, tab, whatever. All you get is a page to download the app. Description distinctly states “ Use this FREE reciprocity map mobile app” but does not tell you there is actually another app to download for the map feature. Developer states there are 3 separate apps available.
I want to tell all who carry how comfortable it feels to have USCCA insurance. My only complaint is the app which cannot update itself after recently renewing membership. I hope it works out soon..
When I first downloaded it, it would crash on iPhone Within 10-15 Seconds of Opening Every Time. This stopped happening as soon as I updated my iOS. In fact, I found this out when I emailed to inform USCCA of the problem. They were very helpful. NICE APP!
The app is great except that every time I try to use the reciprocity section it shuts down and sends me back to the main screen of my IPhone. Other than that little problem I would highly recommend it to everyone.
It's basically a magazine app, so this should work on an original iPad much less an iPad 4. Can't update anymore but yet it still tries...... five minutes after telling it to load last compatible version... how can an app be designed to NOT support earlier versions.... sure, some 'features' may not be available to older iPads, but hey...... we still need to use the app too.... Thanks for leaving us out in the cold....
I enjoy being a member of the USCCA not only for the peace of mind that their coverage brings, but also for the focus on training and awareness. This app is an incredibly convenient way to access this information and resources easily in one place wherever I am.
Crashes when I try to add my membership card to Wallet so that feature is useless, and frustratingly you can’t rotate the screen when reading the magazine, so it’s really hard to read on an iPhone. I hope they’ll spend some time making this app better.
Love the app and love reading the articles. One tool I really wish it had was a search tool to look for past articles. It would be really helpful for looking at the ones of other states carry laws.
Keeps me informed about the truth of the so -called anti gun bums/idiots!!👻. Know the unbiased truth thru The NRA & the USCCA. Learn how to operate, maintain, protect yourself before, due, & especially AFTER an incident. Get the legal protection if you have to use you weapon protecting yourself or your ❤️ ones !!!!!!
USCCA is the ONLY magazine we read cover to cover of all the mags we get in the mail. SO well done/designed and every edition is full of education. Seriously impressed with the quality. Borrowing the magazine from a friend is what lead me to joining USCCA and becoming a member.
This is generally a good app, except for the Concealed Carry Magazine reader. The reader only shows about 2/3 of each page, which makes it totally useless. It has been this way for sometime and they don’t seem to be interested in fixing it. The reader is also no full screen.
Love the app. Read it on the go a lot. But as of the most recent update, which shows 1 day ago, I am now unable to read any article. The background is too dark to be able to see the words without struggling. Even highlighting the whole paragraph is of no use because it’s just not bright enough.
Service has comprehensive coverage, app is a mixed bag. Content is good but reciprocity maps are all over the place. Map under reciprocity is different from map under my account which is different than online. Online seems the most accurate at least for my state.
With every release I keep expecting you will address the update and support issues. It never happens. Is this how little help you will be if I need legal help? We pay the same as everyone else but you wont support our devices anymore. Our iPad hasn't been compatible with the app since February. Don't we get the same features as everyone else? Is this service?
I like the app but on an iPad you need to be able to turn the iPad and the app switch to landscape. Most iPad users have a keyboard which makes it very difficult when an app won’t switch to landscape.
My wife asked if I had downloaded this app as she thought it was a good idea as we will be traveling a lot in the near future. I did and the first thing I did was to test the reciprocity feature and guess what? It crashed just as many others have said. First app that I downloaded and it was flawed out of the box but I’m sure it will be addressed.
Scrolling article text seems to not work. The initial few lines appear; when getting down to the bottom ads, where the article itself would scroll, the article doesn’t scroll or have an option to “show more “. When I attempted to provide in-app feedback, the app crashes.
After renewing my membership a few weeks ago, this app still shows that I’m not a member with (- days) listed and membership as: (null). I’ve reinstalled the App multiple times with no change. What good is a Membership App with an account section that says I’m not a member?
I also have an issue with the app. I had it on my IPhone 6s now have iPhone 11 with no app. As I attempt to load I keep getting the same message. Can not load at this time? What is going to!
Has a lot of potential. However, I’m a new member and haven’t been able to login. I can login on a chrome browser just fine, but when I try to log in on the app it tells me wrong email/password, then it won’t even let me reset password.
The app is great, but the reason why I’m giving it a 3 out of 5 stars is because the app won’t let me sign in. App works great but when I click the sign in button it crashes. Please update to fix the issue..
The added a black and yellow monochrome as opposed to the blue and white modern looking color scheme. Articles are now harder than ever to read. The map is harder to distinguish! I’m not sure how but they made the app look even older and cheaper! I pay 20$ per month for good protection and a good functional modern looking app. Please redesign the app to have good colors that aren’t hard to read!
Let me be crystal clear. Your app doesn't show reciprocity info any more and your Reciprocity app is a whole year old and does not load at all. I will NOT renew with you on my account when I see you can't even be bothered to maintain your apps into working order. You appear to be taking our wallets for granted.
