I absolutely love this app! I’m a big fan of horror movies of all kinds, and it’s really helpful for me to be able to skim through any upsetting triggers within these movies to either warn myself beforehand or just avoid the movie entirely. I love horror but sometimes there are just certain themes that I’d prefer to avoid, and this app makes it so easy to find movies I like that won’t trigger an anxiety attack. The user interface is really easy and simple to use. I really like that there’s a section for comments so users can explain a little more about each trigger if needed. I love that you can pin certain triggers so that they appear at the top of the list on each movie’s page. This app is totally worth the $3.99 (the website works well too, but the app is so convenient and streamlined without the ads). I have to imagine this app would be helpful for parents as well in the case of selecting appropriate movies for their kids (there’s even a “is Santa spoiled?” question on each movie’s page). I’m truly thankful for this app and highly, highly recommend it.
So far I love the app and the UI is intuitive. I like that it's pretty easy to find out what people think is appearing. My only request would maybe be an auto filter option? So you can browse movie titles that you know will most likely be OK without having to go through each movie? Maybe having it be percent based, so if it's 5 yes and 95 no, it recognizes the discrepancy and allows it to be looked at closer? Whereas if it's 95 yes and 5 no, it recognizes that most people agree this trigger is there, so auto filter it. I think that would help the app be a staple in a lot of households. The app is convenient and helpful, but sorting through the 70+ triggers for multiple movies in a row can be tedious, so any way to filter faster would be great, especially when you don't know what to watch.
I absolutely love stories. I’ve been given some recommendations from friends and acquaintances, but they rarely tell me what’s going in the story. I don’t care much about spoilers, truthfully I’m someone who enjoys spoilers, but sometimes I can’t read a summary online. Or sometimes my friends actively make sure I DON’T go looking for spoilers. I have things I’m uncomfortable with, and there were times where I consumed a piece of media and went catatonic because of content I wasn’t aware of, so this app is an absolute godsend. Thank GOD for this. I managed to find some warnings even for more unpopular media! I’m so glad this app exists. I recommended it to a close friend who loves horror movies but is wary because they don’t know what’s in it.
As a victim of sexual assault, I can’t say enough how much this app means to me. I love horror movies and thrillers and dramas, but the amount of content that includes graphic r*pe scenes is absurd! (Outlander, I’m looking at you.) Thank you for allowing me a place to conveniently and easily find out if a movie or show is going to trigger my trauma. There have been MULTIPLE times I intended on watching something but found out from this site that it would actually be triggering and painful for me to watch (without having to spoil anything if it ended up being safe to watch). Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
I absolutely love and appreciate this app! I have always hated sitting through movies where animals are killed or abused gratuitously. I think animal killings and mutilations in movies are completely unnecessary, now, every time I want to watch a movie I can go into this app, pop in the name of the movie and find out if there are any dead animals or scenes were animals are killed or abused. I love being able to be forewarned so that I can absolutely not watch that movie. To me, this is one of the most helpful apps ever made.
Unfortunately, this app stopped loading for me overnight. I was upvoting trigger requests and reporting joke/offensive ones. Went to sleep, woke up, and now the app hangs. iOS 15.5, iPhone 13 Pro Max. The only option would be to delete the app, but I want my local triggers and upvotes saved (no account), so...I would prefer not to. I tried offloading & re-installing, no luck (which makes sense. It seems like the issue might be with the app attempting to read my user data. Some of the data is from years ago). I didn't want to leave a negative review, but I couldn't find a bug report form on the website. There's probably a way to report bugs through the app itself, but, if it hangs while starting up...yeah, can't get there. Will update to five stars if I can use the app again.
There should be a warning or rating for animal treatment in the same way there is R, PG13, contains explicit lyrics. I should have checked a series that just came out, but I didn't. Of course there was a scene in which an animal was killed. There's 6 episodes left and now I won't watch the rest based on principle. I was raised on a farm and saw things I literally see a shrink about. This stuff in movies upsets me each time. I have no problem paying for this app. It's totally worth it.
Update: seems to work now! Not sure if it was updated or what but I tried it a few more time and it’s just great!! I love the website that they have available and I use it all the time so I figured I’d pay a little and have it easily accessible. But unfortunately after trouble shooting everything I can think of the app only opens to the logo of the dog then crashes. I really hope this can get fixed and I would gladly give the app a better rating!
a great app for anyone with phobias, trauma, kids, friends with trauma, etc. When you look up the movie, it lists yes/no options for various triggers and warnings (which can have comments that elaborate on the votes), so it doesn’t spoil anything specific about the movie unless you seek it out. If you or anyone you know plan on watching a movie and there’s a known phobia/trigger, looking and having just a heads up is wonderful. SO MANY movies and options!!!! worth the cost 100%
The app is a bit buggy (sometimes you can see more yes/no votes in a browser than on the app, which matters for less-popular shows) but this is still such a super useful tool. I really appreciate the concept. The website now has the ability to separate different seasons of a tv show but the app doesn’t, so it’s unclear how those will interact. Great community of people on here and always trying to improve the ratings.
I am a huge horror fan and before this site it was a 50-50 chance I would get halfway through a movie and suddenly be deeply triggered it. I have used DTDD to screen all my movies since I discovered it and I can now watch my favorite genre without fear, bringing me countless hours of fun and relaxation. I would donate $200 to this developer today if I knew how. I just discovered the app and so far I love it. !!!THANK YOU!!!
Love that they finally have an app! Been referencing the website for years and it’s so nice to have an easy accessible app to look for triggers. This site/app has saved me so many times from panic attacks and just a general feeling of being upset. It’s nice to know I can go into a shoe or movie knowing if there’s a part I should skip or if I should avoid something all together. Thank you for your service
This app is so amazing. I have complex post traumatic stress disorder, and a whole lot of triggers. I also have an love for dark shows/movies/media. This app lets me make really great choices about what to watch. If I decide to watch a show with a triggering scene there usually is time stamps of when it takes place so I can just fast forward through them. This app truly improves my life so so much.
the app is everything i’d hoped for and then some. there’s still improvements to be made, but i’m highly impressed by how smooth it is already!! i hope soon you add upvoting comments to the app like it is on the site i’ve also noticed that there seems to be duplicates of some sources of content. examples i’ve found of this so far are Money Heist and Criminal Minds. anyhoo, thank you for working so hard on this platform!! 💞
I went back to an old movie I wrote a note on underneath the “does an animal die” trigger. I realized that on the website it says “besides a cat or dog”, but it says this important info nowhere on the app. unknowingly, I said yes and was downvoted when I said cat (but I didn’t know it wouldn't count as an animal since its only specified on the website that it does not count and I used the app!) please fix this.
I use this app for every movie or series I’m going to watch. I love animals and have a very hard time watching them hurt or killed on screen. This app helps prepare me for/or avoid anything I’m not ready for. I’m so glad this app exists. Thank you to the developers for making cry babies like me able to comfortably watch shows again. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I so very much appreciate someone being thoughtful enough to make this app! I don’t know why so many movies and shows find it necessary to show animal abuse, but at least now I can avoid them from the start. I literally check this app before I watch anything. A lifesaver for me again and again!
This app is a game changer for those who suffer from intense responses to triggers. No more frantically googling for spoilers - I can easily and quickly vet things I want to play, read, or watch, without finding out more than I need to. Absolutely recommend to folks with anxiety, depression, or PTSD
Even though I’m not sure what the point of the app is when the website works okay in mobile, in the past couple weeks it’s become increasingly UNBEARABLE on mobile with several annoying including some that block important buttons when adding a comment
Huge fan! I sometimes make the mistake of watching something assuming it will be fine or forgetting to check the app- I’m trying to get into the habit of checking whenever I begin a new series, movie, etc to save myself the trauma.
I use this to identify if a movie has one of my triggers before I watch it. It’s saved me so much stress to be able to watch something without worrying about suddenly running into something triggering! I recommend this to anyone who struggles with certain content.
I've been following this site for years now bc they've always been helpful with certain triggers of mine and helps me prepare for certain scenes. Now that they have an app it's even easier to find what I need in movies and TV shows. Love these guys and thank them for all they do!
The app is simply amazing and the custom trigger section makes it even better. And the community that keeps the data updated and current, I appreciate you all as well.
I have the same complaint as the previous reviewer, who said the following: {Many of the headings show only the first 3-4 words! For instance: “Is there mutilation of..?” The end of the sentence gets cut off!} I have an Apple IPhone, so I shouldn’t be having this problem. Please DO fix it!
I LOVE this app! I have one very specific trigger and this has saved me many anxiety attacks. I wish more people knew about this app, it’s is an absolute life saver.
Looks like a great idea! Unfortunately, I couldn’t get past the awful gruesome and horrific movie promo images on the first page of the app!!! Highly recommend trying the website version to avoid the obnoxious and poorly considered front page imagery. I mean, really, it’s a complete conflict of interest!
i’ve never written a review for anything before but i wanted to commend this app for being so thorough and the community for being so helpful with their votes. i love movies but there are a couple of topics that make me super anxious. knowing what’s coming ahead of time really helps. i highly recommend this for anyone who struggles with certain triggers in movies.
I cannot tell you how helpful that this once little site, and now big app is to me and thousands of others. I cannot STAND animal abuse and violence on screen. I see movies and tv shows as escapism, not to see violence or harm (even if it’s fake) come to animals. NO THANK YOU! People? Fine. I can see a person pissing someone off to the point that they want them dead. But an animal? No. Just No. i know that documentaries are made about abuse and illegal trade, but I choose not to watch them. Animals are a definite trigger for me. Thank you DDD for years of GREAT service!
