By far the best drum lessons app out there. I am just beginning my journey as a drummer and purchased myself a Roland VAD506 electronic drum kit. I started taking lessons locally and was shocked and how quickly in person drum lessons can stack up on your wallet at $80 per hour. I was looking for online/app alternatives and came across Drumeo. I paid the annual fee to lock in a whole year and dove into the lessons. I couldn’t believe how detailed and excellent the drum instruction was!! The multiple camera angles showing hand and foot movements, the on screen metronome, etc are also great. The best part about Drumeo is the option to redo the lesson over or rewind back to a section you may have had a hard time with (or didn’t understand). You can start out as basic as you want with setting up your drum kit and properly holding your sticks and learning rhythm and basic songs all the way to highly experienced pro level drumming lessons. The app even has the ability to “place” you within the Drumeo lessons based off your experience level. There’s something for everyone in this app and it’s a value when you consider the cost of in person lessons. GIve it a go……I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.
I have found this site to be just Awesome. Great coaches, Great courses, from working on the full kit to rudiments on the practice pad, to incorporating rudiments into fills on the kit. The forums are an awesome way to gather knowledge from other drummers with more experience, great people who are more then interested in helping and encouraging you. 30 Day drummer and 30 day chops have been just an eye opener for me. Chops has made me completely focused on my fills. 30 day drummer is a great foundation and I love messing around with implementing rudimental fills in Domino’s beats. 30 day independence is another Homerun… helping me with my focus which helping to learn drum parts to actual songs not just playing along with them in time. I retire from the carpenters union and plan on taking a full time position behind my kit working with Drumeo. Thanks for the endless amount of content, and the entertainment provided by the Drum Department. Great work!! Keep it up. Joe Christian. JC3344
Been drumming for 40 years. Been a member for 1 year and have learned more than ever along with improving my skills. In January of 2021 they added the “Coaches” which are 11 iconic drummers who go live for 1 hour / week. You either join live or watch the video later. The “Method” is a curriculum you follow that guides you through the learning process. Again, iconic drummers are the instructors. Who better than that! It is professionally produced with several camera angles for demonstrating. The entire staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Tech support is very good. This app is evolving and they are constantly improving it. Look no further for an excellent app to learn or improve your drumming. The app is free but there is a yearly fee to join & is well worth it. I highly recommend this app and educational website.
First off, this review is not about the content of the application or Musora as a product itself. The lessons are phenomenal and created by very talented instructors. However, the app is a bit lackluster. I don’t use anything mounted to my drum kit and prefer to play things on my Apple TV, however I am unable to actually AirPlay any video content to the TV. Instead, I primarily find myself using the website so I can actually watch the videos the way I like. However, the musical loops in the Drumeo section are pretty unusable on mobile web and then I have to fall back to the app, and need to constantly switch inputs on my ekit’s Bluetooth input when playing along to lessons. It would would also be great to see this as an Apple TV app, but unfortunately they seemingly chose React Native as their development stack, so they would have to rebuild everyone to make an Apple TV app. I’m assuming this is also why I’m unable to AirPlay to anything through the app because they use the Google chromecast SDK, which does not support AirPlay. Overall, this app is kind of a bummer.
I’m enjoying the content and teaching style but I’m constantly interrupted by the bugs on the app. The video player buggy and prone to glitching, freezing, dragging, and crashing whenever you attempt to press the 15sec forward button or do trivial things like plug in headphones. Attempting to rewind the play head will turn the video into a laggy mess forcing a reboot of the app. When you come back into the app and want to pick up where you left off from the Home Screen, good luck. The resume feature rarely works and usually drops you several lessons back. Occasionally I’ll open Drumeo and find it has forgotten all my progress and shows I have zero points and tries to start me at lesson 1. Generally, navigation is miserable and unclear. It feels impossible to get a top-down view of a module’s lesson plan and I found myself trying to scroll through pages (to get back to where I was, of course), and felt like it was just shuffling and reorganizing practices instead of simply scrolling through the practices chronologically. I also accidentally downloaded some course materials trying to navigate on the video player screen, when I quickly pressing the available delete button the entire app crashed. Just a brutal user experience, but thank god the variable speed settings work reliably on the video player. I might actually recommend Drumeo if I weren’t constantly swearing at this app.
After taking about a 20 year break from playing drums I started playing again. Got my pad out and started working on my rudiments. As I got back on the kit, I found myself struggling in certain areas. I decided to look into Drumeo. I wish this tool was available 30 years ago. It has been extremely helpful in in areas that I have struggled with. Also learning new genres. Search for a topic and there it is. I just started incorporating some metal into my playing. Aaron Edgar has been extremely helpful. I like the way he breaks it down. I love Drumeo. Happy to be part of the community! Highly recommended for any level.
I’ve tried to play drums twice before, felt impossible, but I really, really wanted to learn. I am so glad I found Drumeo. The quality of the lessons, both in terms of content and production far exceed expectations. I’ve taken piano lessons in person and virtual over the past few years, and I am blown away by how great of a job the Drumeo team has done here. Sign up now. And do the lessons, I learned so much from the set up steps as well. They start at literally zero and go into playing along with songs on provided tracks. I’m a couple months in, and I’m able to play along with rock songs, I’ve got a long way to go, but this is some of the most fun I’ve had playing music in my life.
Been drumming off and on for more than 2 decades and I wish I would have had this sooner. Better late than never! Total game changer! Not only do they have literally thousands of songs transcribed so you can follow along while the song is playing and you can isolate parts on those more difficult areas. But wait there’s more! You have access to hundreds of world class teachers, forums and online clinics. Well worth the money for anyone at any level of play. So glad I gave it a try!
I’m 13 years old. I’ve had a beautiful electrical drum set for about 1-2 years now. I got it for my birthday, after putting it on the top of my birthday list, contesting of 5 items. You can imagine my excitement when i go upstairs to find a drum set all set up, and ready for me, on the stair case. So after a few years of wanting to play it, but not knowing how, decide to go online. I go to a web-cite, and it recommended this app. So i down load it, and make a password, put in my email, all the app holding junk. I finally get almost done, and realize that i have to PAY (for a free download app!) either $40 a MONTH or $240 A YEAR. I understand that the developers need to make money, but COME ON! ALMOST $300 FOR A FREE DOWNLOAD APP?! I personally thing that is a ridiculous amount.
I joined recently and I am really enjoying the lessons and listening to the awesome featured drummers. I took lessons when I was a kid, but wasn’t as committed as I should have been. Now that I am older, I am excited to start where I left off. I really like that you can customize a learning plan that makes sense for you. I wish that I had signed up earlier. Just went and purchased a set of Zildjian cymbals that I’ve wanted since I was a kid but couldn’t afford. This program has reinvigorated my love for drumming!
Been a lifetime member for several years and was old when I signed up. Why? Because Drumeo has it ALL! And just when you think you have seen it all, there’s something new! The amount and quantity of content is absolutely amazing! I could go on forever but I Wii say that if you are or want to become a drummer, this is your one-stop shop. You won’t be disappointed, rather you will shortly learn it was the best investment you ever made.
I love my Drumeo membership, they anticipate your needs and there is So Much to choose from, that sometimes I don’t even know where to begin. I finished my first module and already can play basic beats. I am learning about song structure, how lo active listen, music theory and the lessons are so much fun, and makes the learning experience extremely pleasant. The visual content is clear and colorful. If you want to learn how to pay drums, I highly recommend the Drumeo Method. Have fun!!!!!!
I was scared when I bought my electric drum set, I felt like I never had good rhythm my whole life & wasn’t sure if I could catch on, but thanks to Drumeo, I feel like i’m doing good for having never playing drums before. I love the lessons & that I can pause, rewind, slow them down until i’m more comfortable with what i’m doing. The 30 day drummer course is a lot of fun & it’s only about 10 minutes a day. The community on the app is really encouraging & helpful too!
This app is incredible! It’s a fine complement to the desktop site, and I wish this type of tech and instruction existed when I was initially learning. The content is fee-based (which is well worth it), but if you want a free taste, there’s literally 100s of hours of Drumeo You Tube content to check out before spending a cent. If you’re a serious hobbyist or student, you’ll want this. Btw, the content, site/app functionality, and user experience show the passion these guys put into it. Very well done.
Honestly, the app itself is a 5/5. I use drums, guitar, and my voice. I’ve been drumming since Christmas 2022, here and there, making small progress, and when I started my free trial here, I was progressing at SUCH am increased rate. I’ve hit a wall in guitar and lost the motivation, and since downloading, I’ve begun to pick ot up again. The sheet music, the teachers, the methods, The different intrument options ALL GREAT. The price even is very understandable considering there are MULTIPLE instrument to learn, and PLENTY of useful buttons. The only thing I find annoying,Is there is no one time payment. Because it's expensive, I will have to make sure I have the money at all times AND i have to remember which is difficult with Adhd. It will end up putting me behind in payments. All around, I’d like a one-time payment option at a reasonable price so I do not end up in financial trouble.
I purchased the 26 week IME lesson pack several years ago… 2017 or so. In any case, that was my intro to DRUMEO. Five years later, and I’m still all-in with DRUMEO, relying daily on my annual EDGE subscription to keep me learning and challenged! The range of topics and instruction is off the charts comprehensive, there’s no way to out-learn what the DRUMEO gang keeps putting out there. What a great way to never stop leaning and improving. So, while I still make use of and genuinely enjoy regularly working one-on-one, in-person, with a couple of drumming pros here in Denver, my ability to successfully incorporate their added knowledge and instruction into my drumming has everything to do with DRUMEO. You guys are great, thank you Jared for making your knowledge and passion available at such a reasonable cost.
I’m a former music business owner and piano teacher of 15+ years. I’ve seen good teachers and bad. Generally I’m not a fan of “online” lessons but these are LEGIT! Decided to take up drums a few years ago wish I’d had this app then when I had more free time. But I’m going to make time! Love the lessons. Short sweet and to the point. The practice feature is GREAT. Has everything you need and the application with the songs keeps it fun and motivating.
Drum lessons from world class drummers that you can repeat over and over. Great process of learning to play the drums all the way from learning to set up and tune a drum set to expert level polyrhythms, odd-time signatures and international styles of music in the Drumeo “Method”. It has improved my skills and I’ve learned how to read music and more about music theory in the process. Highly recommend!
Ive been using Drumeo for around 4 months now and have no complaints about the quality of the lessons and videos. However, recently the in-app video player has been crashing and stuttering when I reach the middle of the video. Usually it will correct itself and continue playing but the audio and video will not be in sync. Sometimes 5+ seconds off, which is almost unusable for an app focused on drumming which is all about staying in time! Hopefully a fix is issued soon.
Very convenient logging into lessons from the App. There’s so much good information here. There are so many excellent, engaging instructors with so many different teaching styles. I highly recommend for any drummer who wants to improve their craft. The App itself has had blackouts and glitches, but IT has always been superquick and responsive. Never interfered significantly with my education.
Best music instruction App/Service I have ever used
The high quality video lessons are amazing, and they come with a solid set of practice material. Then I find these songs I can play along to, and they give me the music for all of them, some of them I can play with special “backing” like drumless tracks and that’s just great. Lots of instructors/professionals here and I love all this content!
My son bought me drums for Christmas two years ago. I am now taking in person lessons as well as using Drumeo. It’s wonderful because I can learn something and then come home and find it on Drumeo if I need some guidance between lessons. There is so much content here it is well worth it. Even better when you join during Black Friday sale.
I love the app. It truly helps wit practice. I’d actually give it a 4.7 because the app preps you for the next video in the training series, you watch it, and then have to open up the video again in the practice session vs the app automatically marking the video as viewed. Otherwise, a wonderful tool to help with your learning and practice.
Drumeo is the best investment I’ve made into my drumming! I always know what to practice and the play alongs are literally a dream come true. To be able to read the music as you play along has been a key element to my rapid success on the drums. I’ve been on Drumeo for two years and I’m already in two bands, and I’m 50! 🤩 Thanks Drumeo!
When the app works, the lessons are great and it’s an excellent way to learn. The problem is, I’ve set this up twice now for a membership and it keeps randomly saying my membership has expired. I called support and they are very nice and very helpful but I’m sure you can appreciate the frustration. I sit down to drum and instead spend the next 45 minutes trying to solve a login issue. If it keeps happening, I’ll have no choice but to find another app to learn from.
I’ve used this app for a few years now. I love it and have grown so much in drumming. I have the subscription but many songs that I have previously played are no longer on the app. A lot of my favorite songs to play have disappeared. It’s definitely not as fun anymore. I don’t know if it has to do with copyright but it’s sad. I can’t find any Bruno Mars or Twenty One Pilots.
This app is excellent. There is so much in here that it would take 10 years to watch it all, and 50 years to master it. It’s got the lessons of course, but it has interactive content, documentaries, entertainment, and even niche interest content. Well done.
Have been a member for years including paying for the lifetime membership. Now they are taking things away or wanting to charge again with Musora+ or something. It is clear from reading all these reviews I’m not the only one who feels betrayed. If you agree to offer something (especially called lifetime) and we agree and then pay for it, how can you just take it away?!!
I love this app! Coming from a guitar/bass background, I’ve wanted to learn how to play drums to round out my understanding and become a better all around player. The lesson designs in this program are incredible; and through it, I am confident I’ll get to where I want to be through practice, patience, and precision.
Coaches are amazing. Teaches you everything from square one. There is a bug when you open the app sometimes it will just go to a black screen and you have to uninstall and reinstall.
Please not the app is still in beta, however some common issues I have been running into: long load times for content and the app will close occasionally logging you out. Again, this app is still in beta. A feature I would like to see added: more refined search filters on the app, just like the website (choose instructor, choose topic, choose difficulty, etc.)
I been using the drumeo app for about almost 6 months and all I can say is wow!! Amazing categories to choose from. songs, play-alongs and courses etc etc. the only reason I gave it 4 stars is because the app can run kinda slow sometimes. But I find it’s like that on google also. But again spectacular tool for drumming, I also use pianote, that’s cool to.
The drums have always been the instrument I was most curious about. Drumeo has made it possible for people to learn it at their own rate, with clear and simple instruction. I am totally satisfied and have enjoyed my whole experience!
Drumeo by far makes the and most accurate best drum tabs, but the only way to access them is too pay for a full Musora membership. You should be able to select what you want to pay for rather than paying $240 a year for all of them. I would use this app a lot more if I only had to pay for Drumeo.
I’m into my 3rd year with Drumeo. As someone over 70 The mentors & support are 2nd to none. Reading drum music is like learning a new language. Active listening works best for me. I am a product of the 60’s and 70’s , Rock N Roll & Doo Wop music era. Thank you Jared, K-Rad, Domino and the Mods who are front line…
I tried the 7 day free trial. Never did put one drumstick to a drum. Watched some tedious videos about what drums are, how to set them up, and how to tune them. Eventually started skipping them and saying I completed them. I think the App would be better if it did 1 video talking about how to set the drums up, and then get down to drumming.
Ok after I bought my ipad, the app was buggy and I a was frustrated. The fixed the bug quickly so thank you! The looping is the best feature. I would love this app at 5 stars if you could save your settings when you exit the screen.
It sounds good from the start but as soon as I open it, it tells me I have to pay for a plan. If the app was free then don’t make us pay because the only reason people like this app is because they have money, and the people that don’t have money won’t be able to use the app. Why not just make a lesser version of the app that doesn’t cost anything but has less quality than the original.
Jared Falk is a unique guy who’s done something so far beyond what was available in my day. (A turntable, headphones, paper to take notes). Incredible accomplishment and I’m glad I was there to see it EXPLODE into what it has become. Great company built around great people.
I have watch Drumeo lessons before and they were great so I was exited about this app. But the moment I opened it I found out in order to use it I needed a paid subscription in order to use ANY of it You cannot even see the format or lessons with out a subscription. I am in college and don’t have a surplus of money I will be looking for a app that is free
Drumeo programs and lessons are extremely comprehensive and present every aspect of drumming and developing one’s self into a fine drummer. I think the most important aspect though is that they never stop innovating and creating and listening to their members. Bravo!!
The app works fast overall & connects with your online profile perfectly. I am able to take not only sheet music but also live streams & pre recorded lessons wherever I am.
Good app 10/10 I do like this app I don’t use it but my dad and brother do they say 10/10 so I am writing a review to tell you 10/10 they have been using it for 7 years now. So overall 10/10
I have been a subscriber for several months. I spend 30 minutes a day practicing the lessons. They are tremendous. Use the app on my phone, I Pad, and MacBook. Subscribed to several lesson sites prior to Drumeo. Others are good but Drumeo is superior
The Drumeo app and program is helping me to quickly learn proper technique and fundamentals for playing drums. This is the best online training tool! The progress I am making would not have been possible without Drumeo.
I have a slow internet connection, and I've never been able to get the download functionality to work on my Mac OS app or iPhone app. Otherwise the content is good, but my internet connection is slow and I can't play it smoothly. Because the downloads do not work at all, I have to cancel my Drumeo subscription.
It keeps pausing and replaying behind the sync/ voice and video off timing. Downloading lesson and then playing it is useless because it takes 30 to download (actually not sure, stopped the download after 10 minutes). New iPad and full Comcast expensive top package internet WiFi. Everything Elise in my house works including all gaming systems and other media.
It would be amazing to categorize or make folders of saved lessons. Right now I have so many saved I have to scroll through them all to find what I want. If you are a drummer of any level, this app is amazing and worth the subscription price.
I tried setting up an account on my iPhone but when I got to the screen to pick a plan, it wouldn’t allow me to select a plan no matter how many times I pressed it. I’ll have to just make an account online but hopefully this gets fixed soon.
