Pretty cute

I think this is a pretty clever app, it works well and the options for creating your elf are nice. I wish you got a small trial or something before having to purchase it to make sure you could even get what you wanted out of it. I also wish you could use two elves, we have two elves and having them in a video together would be neat. Also being able to save more than one elf would be nice as well so for those reasons I’m only giving it a 4. But it is a pretty neat app

Not worth $5

Where do I start? I’ll give it 2 stars for the idea behind it. I thought this would be a cool thing to show my kids like, “look what I caught on camera!” You have to pay for it just to use the app and see what it’s about and then pay an additional .99 for filters to mask how unrealistic the animation is…Unless you’re showing this to a toddler, who let’s face it, probably could care less to begin with, kids aren’t going to buy how obviously fake this is. The elves they let you pick from don’t even match the traditional elf on the shelf you get in the store, so if you’re showing this to a typical kid who notices the little details like this they’ll call you out instantly on that. (Outfits and features are not the same). Also, after multiple attempts I still couldn’t get the animations to look right or even close to natural looking. We live in the digital age, and kids now days know the difference between real and made on an app or computer. Bottom line, if your kids are almost to the age where they might not think Santa and elf on the shelf aren’t real anymore…this app will seal the deal lol. Save the $4.99 and record the elf riding your roomba or the dogs collar or something. At least then it’s the same elf and not some poorly animated and obvious fake.

Cool app BUT..

The app is cool and pretty easy to use except I feel their should be more options at designing your elf as all the main elf’s are just all red with no black suspenders and should allow more surface as well as jumping up options or even hanging off something would be cool otherwise it’s a cool app.

Why would I pay without knowing what I’m paying for

The app looks super cute, but after downloading the app I was asked to pay before even seeing what I would be paying for. Yes, I know it’s to make my elf and have it appear in our house. But I don’t know what the elf will look like, what he will wear, if I can only have one elf in the video (we have 3 at home). It doesn’t make sense for me to pay before seeing the product I get to create. I’m all for charging but how about charging after we create all the things and having a watermark or something. I don’t know, but I’m deleting this app now.

Don’t download

For starters, they act like it’s a free app but all that is free are the directions. You have to pay to even use the camera. Also, the elf in the directions has on green…. But aren’t like 90% of the elves in all red? My 3yo is smart enough to spot the difference. I definitely wouldn’t want to buy it unless I know and can see the outfit options, gender options, and other options that would make this even remotely believable. Quick install but immediate uninstall simply for these reasonings. Big bummer. This was gonna be our elf’s big goodbye Christmas Eve.

Very hard to use

I’m not sure what country this app originated in but in my experience most of the elves in the US look the same and none of the options allow for that in this app. For example my elf doesn’t have buttons or any boots and you cannot do that on this app. It is also very confusing on how to use the floor scan and then the plotting. It took me probably 10 times to get a video with an elf actually in it. The app has a lot of potential but needs to be tweaked.

Free to Download but Must Pay to Use

What a dumb way to get the download count up. The app is free to download but you can’t do anything without buying the $4/yr subscription. Zero free features here. So why not just charge a fee to download the app in the first place? That way those of us looking for free apps for our kids don’t waste our time and device memory space downloading an app that has to be deleted immediately after. Cute concept with the elf though. Just not worth paying for

No elf on shelf colors

The fact that 99% of homes have the elf on the shelf yet there is not one that matches it doesn’t make sense. More than 11 million elf on the shelf’s have been sold. You can’t even see if they have the correct color until you purchase the app. Why not make the correct color? You could have so much more business otherwise, or maybe that’s why you make people pay first. Is it because if copyright infringement or what? Until that is changed, I wouldn’t purchase again.

Honestly wish I could have a refund

Our elf has a outfit and this app doesn’t give you any option to put clothes on your elf. Not even a single option to look slightly close so I ended up waiting $4 for an app I can’t even use. Would have been nice BEFORE having to buy to know you wouldn’t get any real option to customize your elf 😔 wasted money and time unless you have a completely naked elf with either a red, green or pink body.

Adorable

Son absolutely loved this. Just wish you could pick the amount of elves and more style options. We have elf on the shelf so he looked like our elf. My nephews have 2 Elf buddies so it’s more fun if we can get them to look exactly like them but for a start this is amazing!

No free version/ Fake reviews

If you are going to advertise this, advertise the price and advertise that there is no free version. Most apps that have in app purchases usually are noted in the App Store. So I wasted my time downloading the app, opening it, going through the tutorial only to find out I have to pay to use it. Sorry but 3.99 is not worth it. If I had known that before I downloaded the app I wouldn’t have wasted my time. Also most of the reviews on here, you can tell are bots…nice try.

Not what I expected

The app should allow you to preview the outfits prior to purchasing because it didn’t meet the need for me and my family. Those kids are too smart and can spot the differences between our elf and the ones in the app. The app worked fine other than that, but a preview should be a part of the process.

Not enough outfit choices

Our elf wears a skirt and a scarf- neither were an option in the outfits which I didn’t know until I purchased the app. I think my daughter will be very suspicious of the video since it doesn’t really look like our elf. TBH they don’t look like the elf on the shelf elves really at all so if you’re child isn’t a toddler anymore it may not fly.

Cute app, but not for us

This is such a cute app and inexpensive! I’ve only used it once, but unfortunately that will be the last. For some reason it freaked my 5 year old out to the point where he was crying. :(

Straight Terrible

All red elf isn’t an option. Literally the standard elf on the shelf across USA isn’t an option. Standard is all red with no boots. The app has a boot choice, cant have an elf without boots even tho the standard elf has no boots, all red legs. My 10 month called it out. Idiots. Why would you dumb dumbs make it without the standard elf options. Stupid idiots. I want my money back. Zero stars isn’t an option either. I hate this app.

No free preview

What a load of garbage. I would happily pay the $3.99 if I could actually try the app out, design my elf, plot a course, etc. even if I didn’t have the ability to save or export…I understand that a 7 day free trial would be a poor business model as people would use it and cancel before they had to pay, but without the ability to at least try SOME of the functionalities….boo.

Needs work

This app has the potential to be really good, but it has some issues to work out. One being, mapping out the floor is a difficult task no matter how well the room is lit… and when you put down a snowball, you should be able to delete it if you made a mistake without having to go right back to the beginning, doing it all over again.

Love it

Elf on the shelf magic comes alive. Wish you had more color options and could add multiple elves. Would love more dance moves and outfit add ons. So much fun messing with my kids!

Scam likely

I’ve tried everything to get the camera to work and no success . Probably a scam can’t know for sure . Using an iPhone 14 Pro and running latest version of app. Installed and uninstalled a dozen time. Made sure that “elf cam” had access to camera. Still no dice, save your money since you’re prompted to buy before trying.

Free ONLY to DOWNLOAD

It shouldn’t be listed as a free app if you have to pay to use it. The only thing that’s free is to download it. But then you can’t use it without paying for it. And it won’t even let me see what I’m paying for — can I even design an elf like mine? Will it look real? Or fake? Cuz all this other A.I. stuff out there screws up all the time.

I had this app a week and still not working

It is virtually impossible to scan the floor. No matter how I try to angle the phone, added light, or scan close and far from the floor it will never pick up the scan. Do not waste you money. I fave it a one because I had to but it is not even worth a one.

No try me buttons!!

I do not like the fact that I could not try this camera out before committing to purchasing for a measly $4 a year. You have the capability to implement a “try before you buy” and I would LOVE to see what it has before committing to it. This just makes me NOT want to purchase this even more.

Costs money should be free

This app is for parents trying to keep magic alive for our KIDS. We should not have to pay for this app. Sad because they know so many parents will pay like myself to see how excited my kids get. But this is definitely something that should be free.

Waste

I’m not paying for something if I can’t even see how it works or if it will work for my family. Most apps let you try the app and purchase extra features, this one doesn’t even let you see the customization options

Quick money grab

Don’t see how anyone would pay for such a silly app. Parents can get a lot more creative and not have to pay anything . I guess this app was a good realization to motivate us in doing it ourselves. And not give money to a company making something so dull .

Black screen

In my settings it has access to photos and camera, I’ve re-downloaded the app and everything, it still just shows me a black screen when trying to record my room. What a bust.

Not happy

Paid for the subscription which was cheap enough but it just keeps scanning and won't create the video! Have used it in the past but just will not work...

This app is not free. Yes you can download the app but all you can do is watch the tutorial until you purchase. It’s not expensive it’s only $3.99 for 6 months.

Just know you have to pay for subscription to even use the app. No free trial or one video to see if you even like it or worth paying for. They need to put this before you even waste time downloading

Not a free app. No features without subscription. Should be able to preview and test features before purchase. Easy to block saving/sharing/download. Just let people try it out first.

Not enough outfits

My elf is the standard all red solid with a red and white hat. None of the elves available in this app remotely resembles my elf. There are hardly any outfits available. It would be a great app if more outfit variations were available.

Not and intuitive app.

This was not a very easy app to use. It was nice that I could change what the elf was wearing, but the application did not adjust for distance in 3-D. Another words as the elf walked away. It stayed the same size which made it look much larger.

Was a big fan but update makes it impossible

This was a huge hit with my kids each holiday. This year it is impossible to save an elf and make vids. Very buggy and unuseable!

Rip off

This app literally doesn’t work. You pay 3.99 for the year for something defective. The scan just loads and loads over and over again regardless of what i do as well as following the instructions.

This app is terrible

Don't waste your money especially if you have an elf that doesn't have a white ball on his hat or is wearing a plain red outfit without buttons. This app has limited outfits to chose from. Highly disappointed in this app.

False advertising

Only giving it 2 stars because the ideal is cute would be nice if you all list that is is not free not after it’s already download and I’m excited to you it I wouldn’t have added it to my phone.

You can download this for free on your phone but I read all the instructions and says I need to pay NO I AM NOT PAYING TO USE THIS APP this is the worst thing to ever experience on this platform like tis just don’t download this app

Bait and switch here. Some advise to the developer -Don’t market as a free app then make me pay $4 to use it. I can’t even try it out or get into the app, need to pay first. Don’t waste you’re time with this one.
