I’ve been using this app for nearly a year and up until recently I loved it. It was such a big help to keep track of my plant watering and to make notes about by plants so I could take better care of them. It helped me keep my very large succulent collection organized, especially with its option to create “rooms”. These were crucial to me. Then after its last update, the “rooms” completely glitched out, replacing all 4 “rooms” I had with duplicates of one of them! 😱 Long story short, despite dreading having to put all these rooms back together again I decided to just do it….only to have the menu for setting up a custom “room” be broken too. I doesn’t let me save the settings (green save button stays dull) so I can’t even make new rooms! I’m so dismayed with this app now. I’d like to see if another update can fix this, but I’m not feeling optimistic. The other aspects about this app I do still like, but not being able to have my plants separated into more manageable lists anymore just ruins it for me. **Update** Developer has very kindly reached out to me to let me know that they are working on fixing the room issue right now and hope to have it fixed really soon. I really appreciate their taking the time to reach out and I’m feeling much more positive about the app again seeing how pro-active they are about fixing issues 👍
I downloaded Flora a year ago when my husband surprised me with a few plants on my birthday! Being new to the plant mom world I certainly didn’t want to fail my new plant babies! Flora was and still is my favorite by far and has everything you could ever want in a plant app. I look forward to waking up in the morning and not having to guess what plant to water, fertilize or repot! With my busy life, it certainly saves me a lot of time. I also love scrolling through the Community Garden and seeing so many other beautiful plants. One feature I find useful is the “Buy this plant for your garden” tab. It brings you right to a seller who is selling that particular plant you are interested in! How cool is that!!! One miner thing that would be awesome to see implemented is the ability to post pictures within a chat thread! I think it would be a fun way to involve users in chats/ discussions without them having to make a separate post just to show off a plant. Overall though I love the concept and how user friendly the app is. Super excited for those Pods as well!
Great user friendly app for the new and experienced plant parents
I downloaded the Flora app over a year ago. I consider myself an experienced plant parent. But was looking for something to automate reminders to water my plants that were a bit more needy. Even despite my experience I would forget to water them. This app works like a charm. You can take a picture of your plant and the app identifies the plant to provide you with tips for care such as the appropriate watering schedule and humidity and light levels. I found this great to supplement any knowledge I already had about the plant or if I didn’t know much about the plant it was a great starting point. To learn more. You can set a set a watering schedule with reminders. There is also a gamification element to make it fun. I am looking forward to setting up my Flora pods when they arrive as I feel this will take the app to the next level. Overall I would highly recommend this app for anyone who has plants.
I’ve been using the beta app for some time and watching this app change and morph into my now favorite plant app. I’ve had two subscriptions and they didn’t even touch the usefulness of this app. First, you start adding to your garden, then the app will suggest lighting, humidity, watering, and general care. The general catalog and search feature to find plants to add to your garden is easy to navigate and includes a lot of tropical house plants that other apps do not have. As you start caring for your plants using the app - the plant journal function is amazing and you can include photos. Then when you water your plants it shares with the community - where people can like and comment on your plants progress. The overall interface is adorable and I’m looking forward to the plant “monitor” that will be coming. Share with your friends - it’s definitely an awesome plant app for new and experienced plant owners!
I use this app every day. Over the course of the pandemic, I have acquired a lot of plants. This app has made it very easy for me to monitor my plants needs without reviewing every plant and it’s soil every single day. This app allows me to focus in on a select few that need attention throughout the week, making having a lot of plants more manageable. I’ve been able to reach out to support and make suggestions which has come with positive response and feature upgrades that make the app even better than it was when I downloaded it a year ago. The app is always striving to do better and they add features that new and veteran plant parents both benefit from. I recommend this app to everyone!
I have contacted the developer already but just for users until things are addressed or fixed… The water meter is wrong. It kept saying my plant had little water yet I got it to the point where it was basically watery dirt. I knew it was too much but just for testing sake. Apparently that’s a pod issue and not the app. They say they’re rolling out a fix for it. The app won’t allow me to add photos of my plants when I add a new plant to the app. I’ve tried uploading an already taken one and also taking a photo on the spot. No matter what, it won’t work. My pod does seem to update regularly but a lot of times when I’m checking in on it it says it’s disconnected and then tells me to reconnect it. So I’m not sure if that’s an app issue or pod issue. It should just stay connected though. Lastly I’m a bit annoyed that after purchasing 2 pods then there is premium features in the app that I would then have to pay for. I think if I’m purchasing the pods I should get the premium for free. I was under the impression when purchasing the pods and it said there is a free app I assumed I wouldn’t have to pay for anything else. You don’t have to have the premium features to use the app but it would be a nice perk considering I purchased pods and may buy more in the future. There still seem to be a lot of bugs and kinks to work out on this app and the pods themselves.
I love this app already. It’s very useful, and it looks way better than the other apps I had for my plants! A minor thing that would be nice for you to add is being able to research plants on the app to see other people’s experience + how to take care of it, and allowing us to add the date we got the plant/customizable date in our diary entries. Another thing: allowing us to share our plant + click the picture we took of it so it becomes full screen. Love this app, and I hope in the future it can ask us more questions about our plants (ex; how far it’s from the window), so the app is able to better adjust a recommended water schedule itself. :)
I love this app. It helps me with all my plants to keep track of the watering. That was my most important reason for wanting a plant app. But, it usually can’t find the right plant I have by analyzing photos so I have to manually insert my plants. Not that hard to do but I wish it provided suggestions for that plant (water, light, pot size) once I added its name in. The only super annoying thing is this app updates literally every other day. I like convenience and this just puts one little hiccup in me wanting to check on my plants every time I open the app. Especially when my WiFi isn’t working great so the download is soo slow. I get wanting to make the app better but as a developer those pushes don’t need to be every 2-3 days.
UPDATE: So customer service has reached out to me and has alleviated the problem. I highly appreciate their desire to help out and make the situation better! I’m fully enjoying the app and I couldn’t be more thankful for them. Thank you so much! ORIGINAL: I love this app so much. It’s everything I could ever want in an app. That being said, I understand that subscription services cost money, but I’m honestly a little upset that I have to pay to add more plants to my garden. I’ve already bought these plants and seeing I have to pay money to list plants I already own is just… I don’t get it. These subscription services aren’t great for me since there are some months where I just don’t have the money for that and I don’t have a need most of the paid features. I’d only be buying it for this one thing and that just feels like a poor financial decision. Sadly I can’t show off most of my plants because of this which is a huge turn off so I’m not sure when I’ll be able to actually use the app. Hopefully one day that’ll be fixed.
This app is everything you could want in a plant app and more!! The team dedicated to building flora is incredible and have put so much time and effort into even the smallest details and it seriously shows. Everything is so simplified and easy to understand even for plants that are difficult to care for. Next to those friendly little reminders to water my plants, the community garden might be my favorite aspect to the app because the only thing better than being a plant mom is having OTHER plant parents to obsess over plants with. Super awesome app, definitely get it!
I’ve had this app over a year and it’s generally a solid calendar reminder of house plant watering. Things to know… 1. Over half my plants are not in their plant library. 2. It’s pet-safe toxicity information is frankly inaccurate at times. There should be a feedback information loop for users to tell developers when we believe they are wrong. 3. I’ve had two Flora Pods and neither worked again after being charged for the first time. Luckily one charge goes for months, but the first one was just dead and the sent me a new one. The second one just did a strobe light effect after being put on the charger- the extreme tough button appears to have failed to allow any commands. I just gave up. 4. I never received the animal pots I purchased with the Flora Pod - a year ago. 5. The Flora Pod specifically doesn’t update your watering schedule based on it’s readings- but will give you push notifications. 6. The watering schedule seems to be hard coded based on their recommendation or your Mando schedule. I wish it was machine learning and adapted based on feedback - planting medium, lights, etc don’t seem to be taken into account.
Amazing app with the coolest things like identifying your plant and all the information you need about its care. They have a reminder for watering and tell you how much to give and everything. They have quests and communities and a lot of fun and neat things to help you take the best care of your plant possible. But they have two versions the free one and the not so free one. The free one is great if you only have one or two plants. But the monthly or yearly membership has got all the great and plant saving information. But even the free version is awesome to use
As someone new to the plant caretaking world, this app is everything I could have asked for! Not only is the interface very intuitive to use, but the details such as how much water to actually use are super helpful. The “identify plant” feature is actually super accurate in my experience, nice feature! If I had to nitpick one thing, it would be some aspects of the UI design. The colors they use are not accessible and hard to read together. Would love to see some more color contrast in the design. Otherwise great app!
I am loving this app. So far, I’ve managed to stay a free user and I’m getting so much useful information. My plant family is very large and I was looking for an app to help me track when to water everything. This app does that and so much more. I’m learning when to repot plants, the best environment for them, and other tips specifically for each of my plants. Surprisingly, I’m also enjoying the plant community. It’s fun to see updates from others and share my own. I’m really hooked and my plants are thriving!
Florasense is amazing in that it takes into account important factors in plant care that other apps leave out. What is indirect light? Does it matter how big my pot is? Florasense asks the important questions and gives you an easy to understand answer. I love the community feature to see what others are doing with their plants. Diary features are amazing for keeping a plant journal. I use it to note any differences I may see in my plants. I can’t wait to see what updates they come up with next
Before Flora, it had always been such a guessing game as to when I should water my plants. I love that the app now keeps me on track and on schedule with my watering, also ensuring I never overwater as well! My plants are truly doing better than ever, and I now feel so much more informed as a plant parent. I also love that I can see how others are doing with their plants as well! So fun to have a little plant community together 😊 Overall, very intuitive, great design, and just a lot of fun!
I can definitely say it’s a very pretty app. Seems more focused on being a social media app than a plant care app. That and selling you the pod, mister, and overpriced plants. While it’s better looking than Planta, it’s missing several features (or lacking depth in the ones it has) to really help you care for your plants as best you can. The plant recognition is not very good, it got about half of mine completely wrong. The soil types are very limited and just don’t make sense (it treats leca like soil) and custom soil mixes don’t effect water schedules like they should. It offers broad ranges for pot sizes, but no option for plant sizes. Overall disappointing and will be going back with Planta.
I have been using this app for I think around a year now and it has only gotten better! I love the tips for plants that it gives and the ability to add custom plants has always been very useful for me ! With each update the app gets smoother and better and I can’t wait to see what comes next! They’re constantly improving and the fact that the app maintains a minimal design while still feeling alive is a giant plus! Great job on a fantastic app !
I really like this app! It’s like my new best friend. A bit of context: I struggled with keeping my plants alive, and honestly I need help figuring out which plant is which. So Flora really comes in handy. I think my favorite thing is the alert to water my plants and the tips “from mama” we get for the herbs for example. I’m looking forward to all kinds of updates, like “plantface” recognition :) so I can know what species are in my garden; or a chat box for all kind of questions Keep up the good work!!!
Flora is a great space for beginners and oldies to grow and share their plants! I’ve had tons of fun connecting with people and asking them questions about possible dying plants! it is also interesting to see what kind of plants other people grow! It gives me more ideas of what plants I would like to get in the future! Overall, it is a great app that provides good details about each plant and a strong community to grow in! ;)
This app has been great for helping to keep my plant babies watered and happy. No more complicated watering schedules! The app does that heavy lifting. I also love the diary feature. Our plants can grow and change a lot during their growing season, and I love being able to see the progress in diary form photos. From tracking growth to thought-to-be-dead plants coming back to life, it’s fun to reminisce on a plant’s journey. Highly recommend!
Ahhh my plant obsession started last year during the pandemic and I’ve been so happy to watch my plants thrive and a few that didn’t (RIP 😔) and I’ve been buying more and more and sometimes it’s so hard to keep track of when I watered them and this app helps me so much! I also now know that the window sill isn’t always the best place for every plant, they all have different light requirements, definitely recommend!!
This app is super handy and I don’t have too many plants! (30) super handy and when you add a new plant to your app it asks you some questions to get to know the plant and recommends when to water, etc.) Though I wish it had a Leca watering section and not just a water propagation setting even tho that will still work great I’m just saying it could be added! and it’s free and dosent shove ads in ur face! Im new to plant parenting and our front porch plants were suffering because they were being scorched by the sun and rarely watered. Now they are regular tended they are healthier after learning about pruning and are altogether feeling better since I started using flora 💚 Id give five stars if it had more plants in the id part because most of my plants were not in the database so I suggested to add them. But I know it will get better the more folks use and suggest plants for the database!
I have used this app for a year and it has really helped me keep track of all my different variety of plants. It has helped me get my father’s 30 some year old Christmas Cactus blooming and thriving. What a joy!! I have really enjoyed seeing everything so healthy and beautiful!! Thank you. I also had an issue with the app and the developer was quick to respond and help me resolve the issue!!
I had my plants on a watering schedule I thought was working, but after using the pods and the app I found I was under watering my plants. I also love that it takes the guess work out of gardening, it will help with watering, fertilizing, and replanting... added bonus is being about to ask questions instead of researching and getting 5 answers. Loving this app!
Flora has such an awesome amount of information on plant care, that I feel so much more confident that I won’t kill my plants 😅. One awesome feature is the light descriptions! It doesn’t just tell you basic information like “filtered sun” it actually tells you what filtered sun is and how many hours of sun exposure and what direction window to put it in and how far away. Total game changer!!!
Simply amazing. So helpful because its so hard to get info for every plant ever altogether. Beautiful smooth ui as well A couple things I’d love to see added are 1. Troubleshooting for when your plant is wilting or looking weird etc, maybe you could put it in and it could give you the most likely causes etc. 2. Recommendations for what kind of pots are good or bad for each plant :)
This has been a very useful app to make sure I’m not neglecting any of my plants. It has a fun and easy interface to receive regular reminders for plant care, and I get a little dopamine hit each time I water them. The community feature is fun too, seeing what the other users are cultivating, and giving and receiving plant care advice (don’t overwater!).
I’m still getting set up and started, but I love the choices! The app let me choose sassy or encouraging coaching, what level of plant parent I feel like I am.. I actually said I was a little less experienced than I am just to get more out of it. I want allll the advice! The graphics are insanely cute, too. Sometimes I really just need a koala to fix my day
Found them from Shark Tank and love it🌼App makes plant care fun. Used the plant identifier all the time to figure out what my plants need. The watering reminders are a lifesaver, and I've picked up solid tips from the personalized advice. The community is awesome for plant stories, and the game type features make keeping plants happy more fun. Flora's been a great for me as a plant parent. If you're into plants, this app is lovely
An app I’ll actually use!! It’s so intuitive & user-friendly which other plant apps aren’t. Simple, clean design while still being sooo much more than just a reminder app. Has all the information you could possibly need on your specific plants on sunlight, watering, etc. The app even has personality & community. Makes caring for your plants fun!
I got this app over a year ago, and I just wanted to try it out. I absolutely love it. I knew enough about plants and I thought I was watering mine correctly, but I was definitely overwatering them. It’s so helpful in organizing my plants and I love how specific it is in figuring out how to help your plant/what conditions it’s in. Overall a great app!!
I love this app to help keep my plants on track with watering as well as care tips such as lighting, fertilizer, and if they are pet safe. I also love that you can snap a pic and it identifies your plant. With that being said it is very frustrating that the app crashes every other time I use it. Almost annoying enough to uninstall. This app used to be my primary plant care app however it is quickly becoming a back up app only.
App crashes CONSTANTLY when trying to edit the details of an existing plant. Even when trying to do something as simple as adding a “last fertilized date”. Almost impossible to edit the details of an existing plant because of this. Out of 10 tries I think I got it to update once. Also need to add the ability to change an existing custom plant to a plant from the list once they have added it to the system.
This app is wonderful. It gives me watering reminders (especially important when my partner heads out of town), but it also gets me way more into plants! I feel way more invested now. I know it’s a small thing, but the app having you name your plants just makes the whole plant-having experience more fun. Highly recommend!
The creator himself is responsive to suggestions! This app is so educational and i love that it gives reminders and identifiers with an easy user friendly format. it’s organized really well where as in other apps it wasn’t as aesthetically pleasing. Even if you can’t identify your plant you can input everything you need and it learns accordingly
I downloaded several plant apps similar to this one but none of them worked as well for me as Flora has. I love that I can add in a custom plant if it’s not in their database and I don’t need any approval. It’s super easy to see what I have and the watering reminders are super helpful. I can’t recommend this app enough.
I’ve been using this app since beta. I added my first plant over a year ago and had recommended it to many friends. I have liked seeing it grow and evolve over time. I loved that I could add notes and see other peoples plants too. I’m so disappointed that there’s a 5 plant limit now when I’ve had well over that since before I even got the app. I don’t need the extra features and refuse to pay that much. I could buy a new plant a month with the price I just won’t be able to add it here. I’ll be looking for another app to use.
I wish I would have had this app months ago! Since using it, I’ve noticed a difference in all my plants. Reminders she. To water each girl, rips on care, and an awesome community of fellow plant lovers to help and also see their victories as well as struggles. I’ll be using this app for a very long time.
Absolutely loving flora! I’m totally a newbie when it comes to plants and always stick with “safe” options. But this overall makes me feel like I have a better sense of what I need to do. Happy to have fun little words of encouragement and badges as well. Absolutely recommend! Very easy to use!
I downloaded this app specifically for the watering schedule/reminders. I am very forgetful sometimes, but my plants deserve the best and I believe this app backs that up perfectly! It has cute features like: •naming your plant • water schedules and the amount to give per plant •the amount of sun light needed •a community for other plant owners for diagnosing and daily updates •even tells you the carbon effect of each plant! While using this app, I have learned that quite a few house plants are toxic to pets and tips and tricks about appropriate soil, drainage, and how to propagate plants correctly! LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS APP AND THE COMMUNITY.
Love the idea and I’d pay for the app without question if it ran smoothly but I’m in the trial period and it is VERY glitchy. I press buttons multiple times and nothing happens. Screens freeze. Things don’t get saved and I have to re-enter the plant information. I’ve closed and reopened it multiple times. I hope these get fixed because this app seems really useful and intuitive but these glitches really don’t make it a very pleasant experience.
This app is so incredibly helpful! I am only about a year and a half into my plant journey and this app really helps me keep track of everything! I have about 15 plants and trying to remember when to water was always my downfall. Love this app and would recommend it to anyone!
I had this plant which was really suffering — I didn’t know what it was, so I couldn’t figure out how to water it! The “identify this plant” button helped me figure out what plant it was & now the app reminds me when to water it. This app probably saved my plant (“alocasia black velvet” apparently) and the free tier is pretty good.
Flora is a fun and adorable way to remind me to take care of my plants! The photo id model seems accurate, and when it gets it wrong, the recommendations are pretty close and make it easy to find the right plant. And the mascots are so adorable! Love it and can’t wait to use it more!
I don’t normally review apps but this one is awesome! I’m a beginner with plants and this app is so helpful and my plants are all thriving now! I love the feature to name your plants and there are some hilarious options in the auto generate. I haven’t used the community aspect of the app much but what I have used has been great!
With so much time on my hands I became a plant parent during the pandemic. With all the new plants came a lot of questions! Flora has helped to answer everything from what kind of light source is best to what kind of watering schedule will help my plants to thrive. I now have 22 healthy plant babies thanks to Flora! 🌿🪴🌱
So far this app has been good but not easy to figure out. It also is giving inconsistent information about plants. For example I have a Madagascar Tree (Dracaena Marginata) and in the search it says it’s pet friendly but once I add it to my plants it says it’s toxic to pets so which is it? Also I don’t like that it keeps telling me to water 2 plants that are dormant right now.
I was super excited about the app but I think I ruined it for me. I exited the app temporarily to delete a different plant app I didn’t like. When I tried to open this app again it would immediately close out. I deleted it and re downloaded but it still doesn’t work. So I’ll be downloading yet another app 🙄. This one looks nice though so I’m sad it didn’t work out
