Great Potential

Hey I just got this app and it was amazing! It was all I want for! However I do have something that I don’t like so much that it made me uninstall: Crashes and the subscription. When I was trying to make a game, it kept on crashing a lot. It only stopped when I reached the limit of making games EVEN THOUGH I checked to see if my saved games were there… they weren’t there! And for some reason it counted as me making 3 games! I thought it wouldn’t count unless i published the game but I guess not… and by the way, the subscription was the final nail in the coffin. Sure you guys need the money I know but making a limit for how many games you could only make is just not my type of a company. But I could only enjoy this app if you guys at GDeveloper would do this: Remove/Rework the limit Try to fix the crashes (Im a mobile user) That’s it, that’s all I want from you guys! This app really has potential but you’re just a few steps away! Thank you!

Problem when I enter the asset store

I went on GDevelop to make a game for someone’s birthday. When I decided to change the character and went on the asset store,it just took me back to the Home Screen and didn’t even save my stuff. Im a mobile user and I’m not sure if that’s the case but whatever it is I can’t get my birthday gift or “game” finished because of this bug. I hope you find out what’s wrong and fix it. And I saw another reviewer talk about how some stuff isn’t free. I agree because when I’m trying to put in a new text I have to pay for a subscription! I understand your a small business but maybe you could add a feature like, 5 silvers a day or at least a daily rewards chart. For example, Day 1 you get 2 silvers and Day 2 you get 4 silvers. I, myself is kind of a noobie at making games and all I need to do is change my character but it just takes me to the Home Screen every. single. time! If you can, please fix this.

Best no-code engine out there no doubts

I have used GDevelop on the browser for quite a long time and have made quite a few games with it (and some apps like a portfolio, dosent need to be used as a game engine) and I have always loved it, even the random changes that I need to adapt to. The mobile version seems great, I personally have only done small adjustments to my games on the go with it, but that’s not an app problem, I would though love to see a UI scale slider, and for the game to open up in a full screen iframe instead of a weird pop up window that cuts of some of the usable area, last thing, when moving around the editor area (the place where you move the sprites) gets kinda laggy when moving around (for refrance I am on a iPhone SE 2022)

Easy to make games but limited features

Decent option to make games on your mobile phone. You can find many extensions that do all the work for you without having to program. It feels very simple and easy to makes games. Maybe the only app I can find to make games on mobile. However their are a number of problems. Firstly, their is no Sprite editor. I cannot edit these animation, not even simple drawing features. Next, lack of certain extensions. I like to see some extensions that allow switch, else statements, enum and for loops. I feel I am limited by this engine at times. Additionally, it is very hard to organize and move pieces of code/actions around on mobile device. Furthermore, a huge issue is subscription model. You basically have to pay every month or else you can barely make a game. Their is a maximum 30 conditions/if statements that you can create before GDevelop tells you to pay for subscription. How can I make a game with only 30 if statements and 20 objects max? If Gdevelop can improve and make some changes then my rating for this app will increase.

Up and DOWN

Well I paid full price for the year subscription to GDevelop and so far I am very disappointed. The app will freeze you out every time you go to use the assets you spent real money on. So the exact thing you are spending money to receive is the area of the app that doesn’t work. I cannot give all bad news as portions of my game actually work. Perhaps it is because I use a tablet instead of an actual computer, whatever the case the disappointment in knowing I am only able to be half way successful at developing video games just frustrates me to no end. I give GDevelop 1 star until they can fix these glitches. I don’t see how you can make an app that boasts about how easy it is to make games on it, but the app designers couldn’t make an app that correctly works. Very ironic and unsatisfying.

Really great app, one bug

Whenever I’m in the middle of working on a project, it just crashes and takes me to the Gdevelop Home Screen. If I haven’t saved the project then, it would restart all of my progress. Very frustrating for making high quality games you spend a lot of time on, but other than that it’s an amazing no programming app, and I really recommend it.

Please give this app some love

It is the only reason I have a subscription with GDev as I can’t justify it without the mobile app. It’s a great app, haven’t seen anything like it, but for the love all that is good please fix the bugs. The asset store and at seemingly random times the app will crash + the missing features like piskel, + currently it is not accurately/completely loading saved edits from the pc version. Whole event groups are missing when I load it up from the mobile app. Please consider doing something if you aren’t already. I can’t justify keeping my subscription if the app can’t preform as needed.

Ok so when I got in the tutorial was Really long and it was really hard cuz when I tried to type something in when I clicked a button after it would make me type in the thing again and after I typed it in like 5 times then it would let me click buttons and after that I deleted the game immediately and I only gave this 5 stars so it would pop up on the front page it really deserves like a 3

Animation fps, less than 10 please?

I would like to be able to set the FPS less than ten in animation please I’m still getting used to GDevelop and I’m making a game with a lil dinosaur looking creature and I know have some animation skills and I would like FPS to be able to be set less then, or at less let the time be less then 0.60 something ^^ please and thank you! This app is really cool and I hope I will make my wonderful game with it!

Great, except for one problem

I was working on a game, and when I was changing the sprite, (the character) the screen flashed white and kicked me out to the menu, I will redownload if this gets fixed

Solid Mobile Game Engine.

I released my first game "In Transit" which i built with the Gdevelop engine. There are many resources online including a growing number of extensions to use to build the game of your dreams! I cant recommend this engine more for solodevs, very happy to now have it on my ipad. Just in time for my next mobile game!

Great on PC, doesn’t work on phone

I don’t know why they have an app when you can actually do anything with it. The only things you can do is edit the events tab, which is still PAINFULLY slow, and look at something you made on PC. It is possible to add sprites made on another pixel art app, but you can’t edit them or make them png. So, in all, the core functionality of the app is kinda lost in the app. Oh, and DO NOT try to make a text box. If you make the keyboard pop up, it’s there to stay. Forever.

Im disappointed.

First of all I thought this was some premium thing that wouldn’t affect me if I didn’t have it. But the premium in this app is the worst kind of premium to exist. Because when i was building my level i tried to insert a button but then it kept sending me to the premium page. So what I’m asking for is that you make the premium only allow access to new stuff not making you have to pay to add stuff.

Great program for pc but devastatingly glitchy app.

Just get it on pc it will run smoothly for only a short time on the tablet Expect lots of errors that you don’t get on pc, expect the app to crash regularly and loose unsaved progress I don’t believe I have gone longer than 2 hours without a crash, expect imported assets or even assets purchased through the app to spontaneously become corrupted and corrupt the entire scene in turn. I gave up trying to create on mobile after I had a scene get corrupted an need to be completely redone for the third time in a day. I love seeing GDevelop has an app but either it’s not ready or tablets aren’t quite ready yet. (Jan, 2024)

Powerful no-code game engine!

GDevelop makes it easy for anyone to create a game. It is powerful enough to build almost any game you can imagine. I especially love using the built in physics engine in my games.

Crashes

Crashes too much to be usable. Just going through the starter tutorials causes to crash at various points. I can’t even finish the “Start your game” under the “Create and Publish a Fling game” section because of crashes that prevent me from progressing. I would love to see these crashes fixed in an update so this could become a viable way to actually develop a game on the go.

I get that its a way to get people to get premium but it can also put people off of using the app anyway, overall super good though.

Good Game Engine!

This is really helpful for beginners but Unreal engine and unity have better graphics but this engine is ok at least this engine is better than Struckd I totally recommend this for beginners!

Can’t Even Complete Tutorial

I was so excited to try this on iPad but can’t even get pass the tutorial. Some steps just won’t complete. Very disappointed.

Horrible game

This game made me spend hours to create a account and when I finally did it didn’t let me create my own game it just let me move stuff! I wasn’t able to edit the animation or the characters or the movements this game made me so angry please fix😡

Just don’t advertise this platform as free, it’s rude you can’t play or create games without a paid subscription. And it’s not worth it. Every game on the platform is competing against every free game on the App Store, and this app isn’t beating even the terrible phone games out today..

Please patch the guided lessons!

The guided lesson/tutorials are having an issue on the app where they stop working just after the “fling game” tutorial. I hope this can get fixed soon because I would really like to unlock the next lessons and continue learning how to use the app. As the app improves I will update my review. App seems like it has a lot of potential.
