This app makes it so much easier to be organized and prepared for youth ministry, especially if you use Grow curriculum (but not necessary). I can easily review the small group questions ahead of time, have an icebreaker if the group needs some motivation to participate, as well as other helpful resources to encourage and help youth leaders grow (see what I did there? 😃) The check-in feature is great to actually start tracking which youth have attended and who is missing. No more guess work. I’ve never used a database system regularly in the past but this helps me feel way more connected to which students are actually coming and who I need to reach out to for missing. I love everything Kenny and Elle are doing. The Facebook group is amazing to learn from other youth leaders. The free resources are better than most paid resources from other places. It has hands down made me a better youth leader and is doing its part to expand the kingdom of God here on earth. Thank you for all that the Stuff You Can Use team is doing!
Seriously, this is what you have been looking for for your ministry. It is more than a curriculum. Grow helps provide a scope and sequence for your teaching each year along with small group questions/materials, mission opportunities for your students to own their faith outside the youth room and so much more! I’ve used dozens of different curriculum over the years. This is the first one that I’ve found to be both Spiritually DEEP & easy for students to relate too. I absolutely love the curriculum dashboard and the simplicity it provides for tailoring the message to my specific group. Stop reading reviews and order GROW right now. If you use either the Grow Curriculum or the Attendance tracker this app is a must have. It has the small group discussion guide for the curriculum, the attendance tracker and now it has groups! I had my entire volunteer team download this app as we use both the curriculum and tracker and now I don’t have to worry about printing off backup lessons. Plus with the groups my team can now focus on their individual small group without being overwhelmed by everyone’s information. It’s great and a must have but not quite perfect. There are a ton of passwords that you have to keep track of. There is a password for the curriculum, a password for each group you create and a password for each event you check in with. Plus there is not a simple way to import all of say the 6th graders into one small group. You have to do each student individually for each group you create. If I could give this a 4.5 I would because a 4 seems too low for something my team and I love and use on a regular basis.
I haven’t used the grow curriculum yet but after viewing the app I think it might be a budget item for next year! I love this app... it really has so much that will help me do ministry especially with the curriculum and small group section being right in the palm of your hand. I love that I can just pull up the curriculum in this app instead of trying to read a pdf on my phone hoping my google drive has synced! Also, I’m not using the grow numbers yet but after seeing how easy it is to use, I can’t wait to use it next budget season! I worked in a boarding school before youth pastoring and met with different organizations to set up attendance tracking in the dorms. This app is even simpler than the expensive software I used their and has a much nicer interface ! Last... is the icebreakers!!!! This is just what I need for the quick oh crap I forgot to figure an icebreaker for tonight! It has a lot of great would you rather questions, questions to get students talking, activities, and of course dad jokes! Well done guys!
Grow curriculum is awesome and the app makes it even better. The grow app makes it easy to run my youth group time with the fewest possible distractions. Before, i would have to juggle attendance sheets, printed materials for small group leaders, my lesson plans plus whatever other elements i needed and it could get crazy trying to remember everything. Now resources for tracking attendance, small group questions to accompany the lessons, icebreaker questions, and even links to the message builder and helpful podcasts are all conveniently located in one place accessible to me and my volunteers. On youth night I grab my phone, my Bible, and a few pizzas and I’m good to go!
I just got the Grow app and started adding my students in Grow numbers. It’s a fairly intuitive process, and I’m looking forward to being able to track our attendance, have info at our fingertips and generally being more organized because of it. We will also be adding Grow curriculum very soon! The discussion-based format is based on strong theology and includes great leading questions that really get kids to think and open up without feeling like they need to have the “right” answer. Thank you for all the tools you are introducing to those of us in the trenches of youth ministry!
This app and the Grow Curriculum has helped us be able to improve our youth ministry in HUGE ways. Being able to have an entire year’s worth of youth lessons, games, and events planned out has freed up so much time to focus on the teens themselves. I didn’t think it could get any better then I started using the App. I use it mostly for the checkin feature from Grow Numbers which is free for under 25 checkins. I love how Grow bends over backwards to meet the needs of smaller youth groups by providing quality material and be flexible with smaller youth budgets. 5 Stars!
Thank you Stuff You Can Use for giving us something we can use! The Grow app is excellent for Grow and GrowNumbers subscribers and is also useful for those who don’t subscribe! With easy check-ins, easy information gathering and free ice breakers, it is a must have for our small group leaders. It makes it easy to learn who a kid is and how to contact them or their parents. Maybe the best part are the ice breakers. We’ve all been a part of an awkward small group where no one wants to open up, problem solved. The ice breakers are effective and easy to use!
Updated App is like a Swiss Army Knife for Youth Ministry
I’ve had this app since they launched it, and have enjoyed using it along with the curriculum. It always felt a little underwhelming though, until they updated it this fall with check-in, icebreakers, groups, and more. Now I feel like this app is a powerful tool for ministry that works seamlessly with the other grow products. Perfect for pastors, leaders, and volunteers! Thank you Grow team for making an app that puts easy to use and helpful tools in the hands of people in the trenches!
If you use nothing else from Grow (which you should), you need to use the app builder. I have a large high school ministry which means communicating to a lot of students, leaders, and parents. We have know about the app builder for <24 hours and I can’t wait to dive into it and launch our own app this fall. Thanks Kenny and Elle for all that you do to equip us to spend less time looking at a screen and more time speaking truth into the lives of students!!
I don’t use the grow curriculum in this app but I do pay for the check in feature and it is so worth the money you will spend each month. We went from 20 average attendees to 40 average attendees in 2 months because we have started collecting better attendance data and training our adults on how to follow up. This app gets student data in their hands and is revolutionizing the way we do ministry!!
This is a great app to have if you’re involved in student ministry. If you use Grow Curriculum then it is even better as all of your small group leaders can have their conversations guides at their fingertips at all times. It’s also great for tracking attendance, what students are most consistent, what students have been M.I.A., and what students are new. The best part is that Kenny is committed to continually adapting and growing his stuff, so you can expect this app to only get better with more and more features.
This app took the time to communicate with youth ministers and find out their needs and then fulfill their promises. Good apps take time and this one clearly took the time to do things right. My leaders love having the questions and check-in at their fingertips, and it saves paper. I personally love this check in system, it not only is the Factive but it helps the youth pastor to keep track of students volunteers and parents. It’s also affective better than the old fashion way of checking in kids every single week. Thank you so much grow team For developing a nice efficient way to keep track of everything. Our team has been using GROW curriculum for almost a year now. It’s been instrumental in getting us organized and moving in the same direction. The app is just one great part of it. Being able to hand it off to our volunteers allows us to give them more ownership of what we are doing. Looking forward to taking advantage of and implementing the new features soon!
Excellent app! Best part= groups and check-ins. Small group leaders get access to their students’ info easily. A win for our ministry is Small Group Leaders becoming the pastor of their group and this helps them be successful by keeping info at their fingertips whenever they may need it. Check in’s grid looks sleek and proves to be super simple to use. Grow Curriculum is hitting it out of the ball park in youth ministry tools!!
I am really excited about everything this app has to offer. A quick and simple way to check students in to small groups and events, endless icebreakers to get the conversation started, and all of the curriculum and content easily accessible at your fingertips! We don’t currently use Grow at my church but this makes me want to start!
What more could you ask for. With app you have everything at your fingertips with you at all times. Love using the ice breakers as an opening for our night. Gives my leaders help with small groups where I don’t have to print everything off. Just makes life more simple and that’s what we always need gives us more time to spend with students.

So after 17 years at a major mega church in a top 10 city in the US, volunteering for years in youth ministry, and looking for ways to enhance the volunteer and staff experience, we have finally hit pay dirt. First off, the Grow Curriculum itself is great. As a new youth pastor, it’s made my transition so much better. The app is a great addition to that! I didn’t know that this even existed until my predecessor told me about it like a month ago. The ice breaker section is a life saver. I’ve had no problems or bugs with it. Overall a good app. Now if only they would add the message editor or viewer onto it...
As a youth pastor I love this app! It’s such a great tool for a student ministry that does small groups. Instead of having to think of and print questions, I can refer my volunteers to a certain week number in a particular series. Performance wise, this app works really well on iPhone 8 Plus. No bugs or anything sluggish. 10/10 would recommend.
I’m not huge on reviews, but after 12 years in youth ministry, this app has been the most practically helpful tracking students. I love how they long to make it continuously better and are very responsive to any suggestions or questions. I don’t use the curriculum but this app makes it a tempting option. Definitely worth it.
This app is absolutely amazing and super easy to use. I’m not a fan of apps that are cluttered and have too much going on but this app is very organized and has amazing features. I honestly can’t wait to get grow curriculum so that I can start using this app for our youth group. I also love the ice breaker tab! Such a creative app and you can tell a lot of thought went into it!
I love this grow app! I use it every week with my leaders and small groups. The newest update really ramped up the usability with adding things like icebreakers and the check in system. The only thing I wish I could do is edit which series we are going through so they all aren’t on there. Other than that, all around an awesome app. Highly recommended.
I like that the app is simple and easy to use. The curriculum is excellent and this app just enhances it even further. Parents can have this app too and use it to see what’s being discussed with their teens. We’re going to promote this app at our fall open house and help parents use it to further their spiritual conversations at home. Great job Grow team!

Easily the best thing to aid youth ministry in 2019 - very relevant!
This app along with the grow app curriculum can be summarized in that it saved me so much prep time and busywork that I can now use my time where it really matters - spending time building relationships with my leaders and students. In the words of my previous youth pastor (now exec pastor), enamored, “Man! I wish I had this when I did youth ministry! Wow!”
Grow makes for a smooth planning and execution of the youth process. Takes a lot of the stress out of getting everything together each week. This app is an awesome addition to the curriculum to give you access from anywhere to content. Thanks for the hard work providing this awesome resource for us!
I am currently going through one the sample curriculum in my youth group right now. this app works as a great extension to that, especially for small groups. I really like the attendance/small group feature listing youth information for leaders to include all youth information they may need (parent contact, allergy info, etc). Keep up the good work!
This app is simple to use but offers great resources to any youth group. The check in system is a great reference for getting to know kids. I also like the profile each kid can have where you can take general notes to be more intentional. It’s hard to remember everything about every kid but this really does help.
This App is great for attendance tracking and check-in system. The group feature is very helpful for leaders to visually see a list of students in their small group. It would be great if we could add photos through the app, and copy the phone number into a text instead promoting automatically for call option. Can’t wait to keep using it!
This app makes my ministry a lot easier. There are still somethings it could be better like you could use your phone to add pictures to the students profiles straight for the app, now that would help tremendously. Overall great app if you are looking to get a good view of how is there and how is missing. Plus if you use the curriculum makes everything better.
I LOVE grow. It’s user-friendly, useful, and is a great resource to use at regularly scheduled events in a youth group! My kids love it as well because it’s a simple check in that takes less than a minute. Grow added structure to our youth group & it’s only getting better! Definitely recommend.

TL:DR You not using this app for youth ministry makes you look silly. Don’t late adopt what is already WORKING! From the team whose curriculum built a successful youth ministry framework comes the companion app to give you (and your leaders) the data you need to succeed (again). Teaching Leaders have their questions on their personal device. SGLs have their group contact info at their finger tips. The students who you wanted to help with check in now can while Snapping with their friends in the lobby. Seriously this app is 3-in-1 and the only way it can’t help is if you won’t let it! This is a great app and seems very user friendly! I like how all the curriculum content is already loaded for each series. The groups and check in features would be great to help leaders reach out to members who aren’t attending regularly. My only question would be if any of the content is customizable so that you could add upcoming events or announcements for your small group leaders
This app has been a game changer! My team all have it and can instantly access any of the small group discussions when they need it. We have also REALLY liked the icebreaker feature and it has really equipped my leaders to better connect with their students. Great product here!
This app is a wonderful enhancement to the already great curriculum. It allowed myself and my student leaders to be on the same page while we plan our nights together. It’s simple and easy to use. I’m a big fan of simplicity, and this app delivers! Everything is laid out exactly as you would expect it to be, so you don’t waste time searching through page after page of content just to find the one thing you need. Plus the ice breakers generated is a nice touch!
This app has basically everything I need for a youth night. Curriculum is only a part of this— I can also check info on the kids in various small groups, check them in when they arrive, come up with random icebreakers... all in one app. Super simple.
I like the smooth function of the app. The database of students is very easy to use and as you build you group with their pictures it will help volunteers learn students names. Love that even if I can’t remember a name I can see their picture. Ice breakers are hilarious and the students love them

There’s so much here! I love that I can have every leader download this app and always have the small group questions available. It makes lesson prep on the go very easy! Still learning how to make the best use of the check-in system, but that is so simple too!

Love the app! It’s super easy to use and has several free resources even if you don’t subscribe to the program. My favorite part was the Icebreaker questions. I also can’t wait to listen to the podcasts. Lastly, the groups and check in feature are so awesome for your youth group meetings!
First, this a is great, but I recommend the Grow Curriculum as well! It’s helped our youth ministry in every way. Back to the app: It’s really helpful for small group leaders. In just a few weeks, our volunteers feel so much more equipped to guide teens in their conversations. Totally recommend it.
