House of the Dragon: DracARys

I got it early during comic con. It’s really cool to see your little buddy grow. But other than that there’s not much in this app. I’m a huge fan of dragons and the books and the show. That being said, there’s really not much to do in this app apart from feeding your dragon and teaching your dragon some commands. After your dragon grows that’s pretty much it. This app has a lot of potential. Would be nice to add mini games or missions in the future. Or even battling. But seeing that this app was developed by the same people who made the my Daemon app another AR app promo for another show, I highly doubt any updates will happen in the future. This app purpose is to promote the show. But I’m still hopeful that they will pay attention to this app and update it.

AR burns through my battery like dragon fire, causing me to only be able to keep my app open for five minutes at most before overheating my phone and crashing. There’s no actual tutorial either, it’s like “tap, talk, and feed” till your dragon learns one new trick for the day, come back tomorrow. Not to mention, to my fellow ASOIAF readers: the dragons do not breathe same color fire as their scales :( the dragons do look good though their limbs are super flimsy when “walking around” their surroundings. Dear Developers, Please give a toggle to turn AR off into a Westeros-like background setting would be extremely helpful, and a low graphics/power toggle too. As well as giving us audio settings as well, and signing up with a designated account because I’ve deleted and redownloaded the app then learned the hard way that i wasn’t getting my original dragon back, and had to say goodbye to the dragon I worked so hard to raise.

I love dragons and the a song of ice and fire world. It would be really nice if this game added anything more than the initial egg choosing and training process. I like the giving commands in Valyrian but it’s frustrating that I have to wait for the game to “teach” me them instead of being able to use whichever Valyrian words from the get go. The AR is really wonky and has my dragon clipping out constantly. It either needs some big improvement or the option to turn AR off and have a background generate. Also when I first loaded the game and chose my egg it bugged out to the point I had to close the app. When I reopened the app it had me choose eggs again, not having the colour egg I’d chosen before. Then when I named it the game chose a completely different and random name for my dragon. Would love for this to be a good fleshed out app with some ASOIAF worldbuilding and dragons in it.

My husband and I both downloaded this app when House of the Dragon came out. It was good to start, but now that our dragons have “grown” to fitting outside of household spaces, this app is really messing up for both of us. When it’s not glitching, the dragon will not come out of the sky due to spatial recognition issues. It seems like the app is having a hard time recognizing certain planes (fence, house) & the dragon won’t ever land & just goes back into the sky. Whenever it does manage to “land”, the app glitches so much the commands no longer work, or the app freezes my entire phone up. Pretty tired of it at this point.

I was very excited about this app when I saw the add for it after last weeks episode. I downloaded the app but unfortunately I’m not impressed. My dragon has grown and learned new commands, however when my dragon flies he’s not flying around the sky he just “floats” it sounds like he is flapping his wings and gliding through the sky but in reality he is just in the same spot on my phone. That’s boring. In addition there are no instructions, no goals to achieve, no interactions with other dragons. I’ve only seen one dragon since I started taking my dragon outside and that dragon seemed to fly and move around like what expected but my little boy just stayed in the same spot on my screen. There is nothing to strive for here or do and when I walk around my dragon is on the same spot as well I couldn’t go for a walk because my dragon needs to be in the screen for me to give him a command. The idea is great but doesn’t seem like there was really a test done on the app, it’s as if they were just banking on the name to get as many downloads as possible to receive more funding. Gonna delete. Not worth the space on my phone or battery life.

While I understand this app is fairly fresh and new features could be added along the way; outside of feeding your dragon, and walking it around a little bit, there isn’t much here to keep you playing for more than a few minutes a day. This game burns through your battery like wildfire and I wish there was a way to turn the AR off, similar to Pokémon Go. Though I love the idea of raising my very own GoT dragon, maybe my expectations were a little too high coming into this. Hopefully there is some QoL improvements and additions down the line!

It’s fun to raise a dragon and have it learn and grow. It’s keeping me entertained even though I’ve never watched a single episode of GoT. I know it’s been just released and there may be bugs but something has to be done about the app heating up the phone. I have the latest Apple device and iOS but this app gets the phone hot to where I shut the app down and play something else. I used AR in many other games from many other companies and this hasn’t happened on those games. Sure it’s just a bug but it limits my play time with the game.

I have had so much fun with this app. And, thankfully I have not had the problems I have read in some reviews. I would like to know how to pronounce my dragon's name in valerian (Vicatanor). Everything else has been great! My dragon will fly on command, cook his own food and has eaten a goat in the grasslands. I pet him frequently and you can see how much he likes it. I think it's really cute when he lays down after he eats and takes a nap. I can hear him softly breathing. Great job creating this app!

One of the best features is not only raising your own unique, beautiful dragon but you soon begin spotting dragons from all over the world. By joining the Reddit forum, I was able to share pics of one of the dragons I spotted flying over my house with its owner, neat :) The forum is also a great reference area if you’d like an idea of which eggs hatch what type of dragon. Looking for a specific color, for example, check there before U snatch an egg. Hope this helps.

I love my dragon and the app showing me other dragons in the wild but after it’s grown I’d like to have another without losing my current older one I’ve worked so hard to grow. Also please add a feature to allow me to edit my dragons name. I accidentally hit accept name and now I can’t edit it at all. I love my dragon and thus I’m keeping it but it would be great to have the ability to go back to the naming process.

This game is incredibly for what it is currently! It just came out so bugs and glitches are good be expected however the concept of it is excellent. I’m very excited to grow own dragon and learn Valerian that the Targaryens use for their dragons! I believe this game will be amazing if they keep working on it! Ideas- 1.) After a lot of glitches and bugs are fixed, have a thing where your friends dragons and yours can meet each other/interact. Basically if you’re playing with someone next to you, you can invite them to have both dragons on both your screens. 2.) Have Grand Masters research new skills for you to teach your dragons, in combat. 3.) Kinda along the lines of the first and second one, once your dragon gets big enough to fight other dragons, allow players to fight dragons.

Im am so disappointed👎🏾. Ive been playing this app everyday for the last 2 months trying to grow my dragon to an adult and beyond. Got my dragon to 80% to adult, and today the app reset, a complete waste of my time and effort. Developers is there a way for you to restore my data so I can get my dragon back? This is why there needs to be accounts so that folks dont have to start over if they have a new device or if something’s goes wrong, users should be able to restore their dragon since its takes so long to grow them. Can someone please help me get my dragon back??? If not I will not be wasting my time playing this game if there is no support.

I wish that we could get more than one dragon or the dragons can have genders and you can breed them if you have a male and female to get more and other people who have the app you can see their dragons in the world and maybe be able to battle them or something like that because you can’t really do that much beside feed and teach them new trick which is cool but still and also maybe once they get old enough you can make it to where you can like get in the dragon and fly in the air and see different places

This app definitely could be fantastic! It’s great to pick your dragon egg and see your little guy grow up. But it needs a few things. For one, we should be able to use a name of our own choosing. Also, it would be cool to turn of AR sometimes and have a Planetos world to explore. Also, some kind of skills tests or missions would be great. It DEFINITELY needs a tutorial! There’s no way to know what to do when opening the app aside from giving the dragon scritches and feeding him/her.

Listen. I love GOT like everyone else and I was super psyched for this game— but there is A LOT of both technical and graphical issues here that really need to be addressed and fixed. It’s a very high power running app, more so than Pokémon. Your phone will overheat quickly and drain fast. Dragons are EXTREMELY glitchy. And by glitchy I mean GLITCHY. Sometimes they stretch into very weird shapes, glitch through the floors or into cabinets for example. You can see them a lot of the time. There’s not much to do either than pet it once and feed it a raw piece of meat for it to cook. Very boring and not very interactive. Mediocre 3 score from me. It was a nice concept. The execution is terrible.

I really have fun with this app. The only downside is that the photos for the milestones are taken automatically and sometimes they're not great. I wish we could change the photos. Also maybe a tutorial on what your finger movements do? I just accidentally disciplined my dragon without knowing what it is I did that caused that action. And I don’t want a mean dragon. Lol Also the AR could be more responsive to things in the environment. Though I know that’s really hard.

So this game is pretty fun. I know it would take a while but I have something that would be awesome to add. You could make it so that you could create a world and you could look at it like it was you riding the dragon. But you would have to make it have amazing graphics because that should be what is expected. Again it would take a long time to do but it would be worth it. Also I understand if you don’t.

I don’t want to uninstall and reinstall to hatch another dragon. I don’t want to lose my previous dragon that I spent so long on growing and bonding with. I love my dragon. But after growing it, there’s nothing else to do. What, so it’s a one time use kind of game? Give us more to do. I feel like an endless supply of hatching dragons after one is grown is the easiest way to go about it. It keeps us busy with new baby dragons to take care of.

It’s great and all but I wish there was a bit more achievements to get or more things to do with your dragon. Also with there was more variation of dragon models (love the current ones though) a bit glitchy as the dragon phases through the world. But otherwise beautiful and really cool I appreciate the thought, the time, and the effort put into this AR game.

There’s still quite a few bugs with the AR and the app itself that need to be hammered out before you could call this playable. I can’t even open the “milestones” page in the bottom left hand corner without my app freezing and crashing every single time. The game keeps telling me I’ll find something new for my dragon to eat while outside but no matter how far I walk around, nothing pops up. I want to like this game- a virtual dragon game sounds like a fun concept. However this app just doesn’t work, so it’s hard to enjoy.

I’m not a GoT fan but I am a dragon fan. I will say it does crash for me sometimes (usually if I need to switch between apps), but the details are awesome and the dragons are cool! I like using the commands for the dragon, and I cannot wait to see if more will come. I signed up for a news program so I hope that means there will be more. 10/10 dragon game!

Love the concept of an AR dragon game. But they could have done so much to this. For example, pvp/pve, more dragon variety, since this game is based on HOTD they could’ve added more dragons like the kinds of dany’s dragons, caraxes etc… instead of just different colors. Graphics is great but could use and improvement. Maybe someday

I have to agree with the person who wrote the first review of this app. I have had this app for maybe 2 weeks and the only 2 commands “ come” and to breath’s fire if anyone has any idea how to do more commands let me know and as for you the developers create updates invent some quest and adventures

I love this app but now every time I call my dragon he becomes smaller and sends us back into the cavern😭 I hope this is a known problem and it’s being worked on being fixed because I miss feeding and watching my dragon grow

I’ve had the app for over a month now and my dragon will not go past 27% to the adult stage. Idk if I should try and start over with a new dragon, or hope that it eventually just grows. I’m getting annoyed because I wanna see him full size. Otherwise I love this, and it’s so fun to have your own dragon.

I like the idea of this app but it’s too fickle to use. My dragon gets caught on every single thing and has horrible glitches all the time (shaking, legs/wings not positioning or moving right, walking in circles) and it has no battery saving mode. I also can’t stand that it automatically turns up my volume? Rude! I can see the potential for this to be entertaining but for now I think I’m done trying to figure out how to get it to function properly.

Another app released too soon before it was ready to compete with the show release. Tons of flaws- and my dragon does nothing and does not update. Downloaded and hatched my egg yesterday but somehow my dragon is 44 days hatched. He only does one command Mazis. Husband downloaded 5 days ago- his egg hatched 5 days ago and his dragon can do multiple commands. And yes, dragon was brought outside. Don’t waste your time yet- wait until they release more updates.

This app is glitchy and super invasive! It immediately asks you for access to your camera and photos, to your mic, and your location, and you don’t even get to see if it’s something you want to spend time on, let alone provide that much access to your privacy. I deleted the app, and had to restart the phone because it started to glitch and shut down every time I tried to use the camera. Stay away!!!

The app is really good and I love how it turned out. The only drawback I’ve had issues with was the battery life, it really eats your phone battery a lot and it would be nice to add something to conserve battery while on the app.

It would be nice to add if you’re standing close to someone else that is running the app that you can see their dragon too. As of the other review, I agree that there really isn’t much else to do once your dragon is fully grown. Maybe have the potential to get another dragon to add to the dragon family.

I will say this the game is cool and there are some bug fixes but I really would love is if the dragons didn’t look the same and it wood also be cool is if we could hook the game to are VR glasses and there would be a button that we can ride on the dragon and fly around where ever I want to go

From what I’ve seen I really like about for this app. Now when I enter to find my dragon egg, I see every color except the color black. I am looking for a black with red, but I’ve seen every other color and every color with black with it. I just want to see black eggs.

Giving it five stars cause to see a dragon "in real life" is best frakkin' thing EVER! Yes the app is slow. Yes the tutorial could use some work. Yes they probably spent all the money on licensing and what not. But I get to see a dragon and a command it. That's enough for me!

It was so glitchy. If there was more then one egg to choose from I could not tell. The once I claimed my egg and named my Dragon it hatched. I see a quick outline of his wings before the image disappears. I have no clue what my Dragon even looks like. Hopefully they will fix these issues because the idea of the game is pretty interesting. This is why I give two stars in.

The app is fun and much like the old tamagotchi toys, your attachment to your dragon makes you want to open the app to see how your dragon’s doing. The realism is amazing; the longer you use the app, the hotter the iPhone gets! It’s like your dragon is ACTUALLY blowing fire at you!

So I was using and enjoying this app even with all the glitches in the app and the fact that it drains the battery faster than I can blink. The latest update tells me it’s not compatible with my phone any longer. What the heck!!!!! I have an iPhone 10 that has plenty of space and works great. Why would you make an update that only uses certain model iPhones? Pretty crappy decision!

I do like this app it’s cool I just wish they would update it so it didn’t glitch out. Sometimes I can even see my dragon

I have the newest iPhone that came out and this game burns my phone tooo much … can you please put in the option of turning off the AR mode and just replace it with a generic field based off ur location… I’m going to have to wait for some updates for sure tho

I got this after seeing the commercial following episode 3. I saw articles describing it as very similar to a tomagochi but really there’s not much to do with DracARys. You can pet and feed the dragon but the rest of the app is driven off you doing things, similar to Pokémon go but less involved, just kind of looking around. Not much interaction with the dragon.

There is no clear way how to level up. There are milestones that only show up once you do them. If they would show a clear path how to level up it would be nice. Been feeding and walking around for over 1 hour and stuck on 75%. Needs to have goals so you know how to progress.

Could be better they need a way to save your dragon also need to add more features as it get boring just watching lil dude walk around the screen would be cool to maybe have some kind of training feature where you can learn the different commands or atleast a tips to help you with the achievements kinda disappointing for real as this could be so much better

I reached the fly command a few days ago and taken my dragon multiple places, only for nothing to happen, no new commands or guidelines for what to do next to grow him. He’s been stuck at the same development percent for days. What am I supposed to do now?

I deleted and redownloaded to get a different dragon but now my dragons age is 89 days… which would be impossible given release date. Will future updates correct age, weight issues?

The app is glitchy. But it’s new, so I’m willing to overlook that and hope it gets better. But I named my dragon Stargazyr and it changed it to Starhanyra, which is really stupid. And it won’t let me change it!! Trying to figure out how to delete and start over. Just remove and redownload the app, or…??

Fun concept and would be fun to play if I was able to play for longer than 5 minutes without it making my phone hot. Will be an interesting app once it gets more time under its belt and updates.

This app could be really cool if there were more instructions and more to do. Being able to interact with others/their dragons would make it a lot more fun.

I’ve downloaded this twice and the first time I was able to at least hatch the dragon and do some things with it, but not a lot. The second time I downloaded it, it wouldn’t even go to the “hatchery”, just showed Sparks and smoke and an obscured dragon face on the screen. There was nothing I could click on, etc. very disappointed…

This game does not seem to function at all. I managed to hatch a dragon. It sat in the same spot and did not move or do anything. The AR suffers from severe clipping and minutes after the egg hatched, the game’s data said the dragon was hatched 53 days ago. This product is clearly rushed, non-functioning, and requires way too many permissions to be worth it. Definitely a skip.

I don't know how or why this is happening but now the app is saying I'm not connected to the internet and can't run. I am very obviously connected. There have been several people on reddit getting the same error. Please fix this soon.

The app would be great if it didn’t freeze and crash every time. The other problem is the audio commands for the dragons never register correctly and it won’t let you just touch what you want. I couldn’t speak more clearly or plainly and it will pull up a different command.
