Perfect!! Just a few minor design flaws :)
This app is so so good for people trying to learn sign language for free/low cost. It’s set up just like Duolingo and the lessons are comprehensive and progressive. They teach multiple variations of signs when they’re applicable, they teach grammar, and they use spaced repetition to keep old lessons fresh in your mind. They also have a handful of sign language instructors each with a slightly different style, so you get to see what different “accents” look like. None of the lessons are locked behind a paywall, so if you can’t purchase a subscription, you’re not going to be forced to stop using the app. There are ads but they’re very very limited. One before and after each lesson, but they’re skippable after only 5-10sec so they’re super bearable. Aside from the lessons, there’s a dictionary/glossary tab which is super helpful if you’re looking for something specific. The only two drawbacks I’ve found is that (1) the dictionary/glossary doesn’t have a section for ‘words you’ve learned in your lessons’ - sometimes I’d like to go and quiz myself on a list of all the words I know, but I can’t do that without individually searching every word. And (2) the end of every lesson takes you back to the home page, which you then have to click on a section and then click on the next lesson in order to keep going. I wish there was just a “next lesson” button once you’ve finished one so you didn’t have to go through the extra steps.

Fantastic!
I’ve been hoping for a duolingo-esque ASL app and my prayers have been answered! I have yet to see a pay wall, there’s both videos and pictures, you can test up from subjects you already know, and there’s no cap on how many questions you can get wrong. I’m so thankful for this app already. The ONLY gripe I have is that the X out for some of the ads is nearly impossible to hit, so I have to exit out of the app when I finish a lesson, but that’s hardly anything. Edit: I hope in the future that there’s more lessons! This is a great learning system and I want to use it more. It would be great if they could put tips and tricks in (maybe with a little question mark on the questions after you get it right or wrong?) for why this sign makes sense (like water being a W tapped to your lips, to drink it. Or fruit being an F hand twisting at your mouth to signify eating)

I love this app
It’s helping me so much with ASL my only complaint is that there is only a limited amount of things you can look up like when I tried to look up shoe for instance it didn’t come up and i also would like to know if you are making more tests and if you will add more signs like shoe for instance but it really is a wonderful way to learn ASL and my favorite thing about it is if you miss a day it’s alright you got me covered it’s also a good way to refresh your memory of ASL and I personally would love if you added more animal tests and more icons for us and lastly i think this I just an idea but you could possibly create your own icon from a picture of your self to a picture of something else like an animals ohh and I think if you made animal icons that would be great thank you so much for all your efforts to make this 😄 From:Kenzie Age:10

Love this app. But Im stuck :/??? Typo?
This app is the best free ASL app I have seen so far. I practice every night and when I have free time to do so. Im so very happy with how much I have been able to learn. I do notice that some signs are mixed or different. Ive seen a few reviews mention the same thing. Like how berry is the same sign for strawberry, but in tests they give you both answers and you need to guess which one it actually meant. But my big big issue. My profile is at LV 11, and I just started the LV 3, Verbs 1. At the Lesson 2, you need to pick the signs to say “I want to eat an apple”. Thats easy right? I learned all those signs. I know how to talk about my want to eat apples. Easy easy. But somehow, every combination of “I” “want” “eat” and “apple” is wrong. Maybe its “YOU want to eat an apple”? No. “Pineapple”? Nope. “Apple” “eat” “i “want”? Nada. I cannot talk about wanting to eat apples apparently. Every answer is wrong. “Grapes” maybe? Was there a mistype and I want to eat grapes? No! “Water”??? NOPE!! I will forever be stuck because I don’t know how to say I want to eat apples. Is it me? Am I mixing up the words and Im just a silly dork? Or is there an issue with this level. I have re-tried LV 3 Lesson 2 manyyy many times. I am wrong every time. I am so very sad. I want to eat an apple. And I want to finish these lessons. Im stuck and I need assistance. Help. Please. Let me eat apples.

Quick, easy, and fun!
This is a great app. I was interested in learning asl and this I the perfect app for it. It teaches you first the basics of sign and then gets into sentences and how to do it with others. My only little complaint is that it gives a sign for a letter or word and the people don’t in the videos don’t fully do the complete sign, so it can be a little confusing, but u guess that’s good on some level because it is realistically how many people sign. They go so fast that you just have to infer what they say as they go along and this is really useful for when speaking ask with another person who is fluent. But, if you really get confused, there is an option to slow it down. Anyways, overall, I was looking for a good app and I thought of duolingo, but they don’t teach asl. This is the honestly the best app I’ve tried so far!

How did you do this?!?!
I wanted to learn sign language to interpret, because I know multiple people who are nonverbal. I downloaded another app before finding this one, and you had to pay to use it. But this one is amazing. After I found this one I downloaded it and was amazed! The alphabet was first, which I remembered most of from years ago, but then when I got to food I thought I wouldn’t be able to remember it. It seemed to complicated! But I went for it anyway, and this app sticks it to your brain! How did you make this app?! There needs to be more! Also, I love how I have not seen a ton of ads. There is only one after each lesson, which seems like a lot, but the length of the lesson is long to go without an ad in other apps! This app is amazing! You should definitely download it!

Love this app!
I wanted to learn ASL but it was hard to find an app that didn’t charge after teaching two or three words. This app is free and only had a few adds! It teaches slow enough to make sure you understand, but fast enough to feel like your making progress. It has both clip art and actual people to show you how to sign. You can also make public posts, look at a dictionary and glossary, even learn about the teachers on the app. The app makes sure that you understand and goes back to redo things you got wrong, you can even go back to any past lesson. I’ve been using this for a day and have already been able to almost memorize the entire alphabet thanks to this app! I would HIGHLY recommend if you want to learn sign language for free.

Inaccurate
I already know quite a lot of ASL, but somebody told me that they were using this app to learn so I checked it out. Besides they’re not being very many levels, I could not pass most of these exams on the first try. Many of the signs may have been regional, but a lot were just inaccurate. Also a huge part of ASL is facial expression and the man in these videos has no facial expressions. Often they would ask for you to translate a sentence into English grammar, in which case many versions of those same words in English grammar would make sense, but only one way would be accepted. Other times it would be the opposite and they would want you to put an English sentence into ASL grammar, but the acceptable answer was not true ASL grammar. The woman also mouthed along to her sentences, which isn’t best practice anyway, but wasn’t always saying what she signed. A lot of the signs I could figure out, but were awkward, slightly off, or turned the wrong way. Some examples of troublesome signs were many numbers, brother, and none.

So underrated
This app is seriously underrated! I’ve been searching for apps to help me learn ASL for a while now but none of them have been right for me. They all require you to purchase lessons or subscribe to continue learning but this app is the opposite! It’s easy to use and you don’t need to pay for it at all! I haven’t gotten very far quite yet but to my knowledge it’s totally free minus a few little extra features that don’t completely impact the usage of the app. The videos are a little low quality and the ads can be annoying but it’s totally worth it. There are never games to help you read fingerspelling and recognize signs. If you’re in need of an ASL learning app, then this is the one you should get!

Love this app I can’t put my phone down🥰
I’ve always known letters but so thankful that I can now learn actual signs, it’s pretty easy to comprehend and I’m too excited that I now know signs because spelling words tend to take forever. Thanks for creating this app I love and enjoy every bit of it!!! I’m going to be using sign language everyday from now on it comes in handy at work too..customers that are deaf their faces light up and big smiles on their faces when they realize that I know sign language 😊🥰 that makes me feel Great!!! Also I’m going to make sure that my children learn sign language as well, just as I have them learning Spanish, so many opportunities when you can speak multiple languages!! Thanks again, YOU GUYS ROCK!!

Great free app for learning the basics
I’m a receptionist and I downloaded this app to help me communicate better with deaf clients. It does a great job with teaching some basic signs and even things like grammar/sentence structure. I also love how the lessons bring in vocab from other lessons and revisits finger spelling (something I’ve struggled to be proficient at in past attempts to learn since it’s rarely taught by giving examples of actually spelling out words or going at a pace beginners can follow). I’ve only been using this app for a few weeks but my skills have already improved dramatically and both my superiors and our clients have expressed being impressed by them.

It’s good like Duolingo but…
The vibes are sorta like Duolingo with login rewards such as XP. It’s very amazing to start when already know some asl and different versions. The reason why you should learn a little more about versions is because the difference between the signers. They don’t sign the same versions which was kind of confusing at first. And sometimes the same signer switches their own sign to a different version which gets very confusing!! I personally love the app except for that one fact. Also there is adds after almost every lesson, but they only take like three seconds before the X pops up. I will personally wait the three seconds after every lesson than rather pay for a membership.

Great app
This app is super helpful for beginners wanting to learn asl! I like that there’s not a limit to how many times you can get a wrong answer. Personally, I could do without the constant point update after every lesson. Maybe change it to update points at the end of the section instead. Also, there is an add at the end of every lesson- it’s not terrible because some of them can be closed out right away, the others only have a 5 second limit before you can close out- which is better than the 30 second alternative other games have. I would pay for an add free premium version if it also had fewer point update screens. Overall, a great app, just a few nit-picky things could be fixed, IMO! :)

Pretty good
Overall the app is pretty good. It’s free so it’s for me. And you can’t really expect much from a free app. I have only a few concerns tho. The dictionary is very limited to thongs taught in the lessons. However there are a few signs that you don’t learn in app that you are quizzed on that are also not in the dictionary. Also I ran into an issue with a word being wrong and there was no way to send up the error. Example, the sentence was, the cherry is mine. When I put that in I was told I was wrong and the correct word was strawberry. When I went back to my lessons, I was right. But there is no way, again, to ask for the correction. Lastly I would like for the app to be updated so I can learn more.

Good but
I have been learning ASL for 4+ years now and one of my students recommended this app to me because this is what they use to practice. I’m speed running it by taking all the exams of each section but I noticed one thing. that it isn’t correct you when you get something wrong for the exam. I figured this is because you were supposed to know all the contents of the exam before you take it lol. But still, I think it would be beneficial for her at the end of the exams. It tells you the questions that you got wrong and what sign it is. Other than that I have really enjoyed that.

Love this app
So overall this app is great and yes there is a lot of ads, but it is very useful and I have been able to communicate with people. I do have a few complaints though. Like for on family 1, it shows that my and mine are the same, so I got the questions about that right half the time, so could you please put the answer choice my/mine like you do for some others. Then On food 1, the image for strawberry isn’t popping up so I got those questions wrong. But those are my only complaints really. I’m on section 3 and this app has been really helpful. So I recommend it.

Important! Recommend
I have become obsessed with this app. I have recently became mute and the 1 ASL class I took years ago didn't really stick so having this app to refresh/ teach me new words and phrases will and has definitely helped me. I do wish there was more then 8 sections but who says they won't add more sections. Very easy to understand and great that I can go back and test myself. Oh yea and I don't have to pay just watch a 5 second ad after I'm done with the lesson and back to learning I go.

One of the people signs things incorrectly??
It’s been an amazing app so far and has clear introductions and multiple people being shown to teach you things throughout the lessons, but this is the second time one girl has used the incorrect sign, it gives you videos and asks type to type the word the person is spelling in sign language, and one was perfectly normal and correct, then i got two videos in a row that had a different girl, signing k as u and signed d as o, i went back and thought maybe i was just wrong, but when i went back and looked it up i was right about her being wrong? this is confusing and a problem

Great Idea… but
I love this app, and have been using it to supplement what I’ve been learning in my ASL classes I’ve been taking in school. I have a few critiques; 1: When I get an answer wrong, I think it would be beneficial to be told what is wrong about it. Like maybe it telling me what I clicked, the meaning of the signs, etc.. 2: A more interactive interface, and an overall update to the structure of things would be nice. A more beneficial learning experience is needed. I want to be told grammar structure, and I want things explained to me. I feel like if the developers of this app took a few inspirations from Duolingo, and invented a few themselves, it could just make the whole app a ton more “usable”.

It’s Not Bad
If this app included written descriptions for the signs ( and multiple camera angles) that would make the learning process simpler. I’ve only seen a written description for a sign once in the 3 weeks I’ve used the app. There are many times where a sign is shown, and it is difficult to see exactly what is happening in regard to how you are meant to move your hand(s). This slows down the learning process and can be extremely frustrating. Other than that, the app is pretty simple to use and seems to be effective for the most part.

This app is AWESOME! My friend and I were bored and wanted to learn some ASL because we like doing it. I found this app, and we’ve been doing this ever since! This app is amazing. I love the way that you have multiple levels and then take like a quiz after to test your knowledge. Another feature I like about this app is that you are able to see what you’re going to do next, even if you can’t click on it. Thanks for reading this review!

Definitely the best ASL app I’ve used! I’ve been teaching myself ASL since I was 10 by just looking up any possible words I could think of and memorizing them. I’m going on 5 years of Learning now, and this app has helped me practice so much! It’s completely free! You get the occasional ad’s, but everyone has to make their money somehow. And most of the time you can skip them! I would highly recommend! It’s has so many different things to learn!

It's Pretty Good!! But I have a Problem...
I absolutely LOVE this app!!! But then it sent me a notification... It was a new update!!! I was so excited!!! Until I saw the update... There use to be a close up hand on all the Questions but now it's someone signing it!!! It's not close so it just makes it hard too see... One thing I do like about the update it that that you can click something that says "Angle 1 Angle 2 Angle 3" I like that because it shows you the side of the Person that's signing it (Plus the side of each sign) By: Adam,

Literally tho only good ASL app
I looked for a long time for a quality and truly free ASL app and this is it. It has ads so you don’t have to pay for a premium version AND there aren’t an annoying amount of ads. The only reason I didn’t give the app five stars is because of the conformation button you have to click when answering questions (which isn’t that big of a deal). The app format reminds me a lot of duolingo, which is a language app I love, but it unfortunately does not have ASL. If you like duo and want a free app this is the one to get.

Great
I’ve just started and they do a good job of showing how sign language works, along with pretty clear images of the signs. My only issues is that some of the images are just slightly different from the video exercises which especially at first can be a bit confusing, however I assume that it plays into the critical thinking aspect of sign language and how everyone signs a bit differently, just like any other language.

Amazing app for beginners!
I’ve been looking for an ASL app for a long time, and this one definitely checks all the boxes. I started using it today as a total beginner and I already know the whole sign alphabet and can sign simple phrases. Plus, it’s completely free, and the ads are between the lessons so they’re not interrupting your learning. I love that each lesson builds upon previous ones so you don’t immediately forget the words you just learned. Really useful app!

I work at Starbucks, and this lovely deaf couple comes in every so often and I decided to learn ASL so I could connect with them better. I always wanted to learn, but I didn’t have anyone to speak to, but now I have the inspiration to learn. So far, I like this app a lot. I don’t like ads, but I understand the necessity. It’s free, unlike the first app I downloaded and inevitably deleted. I hope to continue working to learn so I could improve that wonderful couples day :)

Really great two things
The glossary isn’t as expansive as I would’ve hoped, not a big deal at all and there’s so much for free it’s great. The app it self is fantastic from what I can tell. I’m picking up ASL as a hobby and this is perfect for. My big issue though is that on my IPhone when I have music playing if I get a question right it pauses my music to play the noise and I have to manually resume it. So if the devs could figure something out with that, maybe an option to turn of the sound idk, this app would be perfect.

I’ve been wanting to learn ASL for a while now, and this app has helped me accomplish that! In my opinion, this is a top tier app. You can actually learn and memorize this better because it’s hands on and you have to read what real people are acting out. I would absolutely recommend it to everyone. I have had a few problems though, I noticed that some of the signs were inaccurate and the people signing them don’t have any emotion while signing which is a big must have in ASL.

I just have a few cons about it. It would be nice if there were more lessons on it. I had to download another app to learn more. Also I can’t find this app anymore so my sister can learn sign language too. Strawberry missing
Every time I try the lessons that involve the word strawberries, it is missing from the answers. Right now I cannot move through the number lessons because I cannot write the sentence “2 strawberties” because strawberries is not listed as one of the choices. Other than this quirk, I’m enjoying the lessons and have learned a lot. One other thing, sometimes the interpreter’s hand is not very clear, especially when trying to distinguish between letters m, n, and t.

Out of all the apps I tried to learn ASL this has to be the best, I love the different setups and how you don’t necessarily have to pay. I like this app. I installed it to help me stay up to date over summer between my 2nd and 3rd year of school asl classes. My only issue is that like English asl has dialects and that some of the signs are signed slightly differently between the different teachers. Neither are necessarily incorrect but they are different. As someone conversational in asl before starting using the app the differences don’t bother me but I do see how it could be confusing for someone starting completely from scratch.

Good app, just a few things though.
This is a good app for starters but, there is just so many ads. Every time I click on a new lesson or get done with one, there is an ad. I feel like there should not be as many ads. Yes, I know it helps the app but, still, too many. Also, sometimes I can’t understand the signs because it is only front facing. I know you can pay to get different angles but it would help a lot if I could see the different angles. Aside from that, this app is really good. I recommend this for starters.

Great for beginner
I love that it displays pictures, uses short videos, and utilizes different methods of practice to help learn. I’m really glad the lessons are compounding so I don’t forget what I’ve already learned while focusing on new material. I’m having trouble with one of the ads that I can’t make go away after the timer so I have to keep closing and reopening the app when that ad comes on. Overall, I’ll happily continue using the app but I’d like a paid version without ads.

Nearly there
I would’ve given five stars if the signers were consistent, one of the people teaching/testing is not using ASL. They are using a different type of sign language, which can be very confusing with learning. It’s great to be able to recognize both, but there should be a stated difference, or they should be showing multiple ways and differentiating them. Hope no one gets too confused.

Its okay ish
Is not terrible and you can learn from it but the lady in the video half way signs the letters. It's like learning to read but the person has sloppy hand writing so you have to reread it. M,N,O,P and several others are either not completely formed or directionally wrong. Please correct the videos, people should be taught correct first considering they're learning a new language, if they get sloppy later on that's on them but don't teach it that way. I know my alphabet and the way she signs some of the letters threw me off when doing the practice videos

Like Duolingo for sign
I have tried many “free apps” to try and learn sign and this is by far the only true app that will actually teach you anything and not stick a bill in your face. It has ads but it’s a small price to pay to learn when your on a budget. I hope going forward the app doesn’t change and we can all learn.

Not recommended unless you want the Premium Edition
Never an adept language learner, I wanted a kind of Berlitz guide to ASL, to learn a few basic, practical signs and some alphabet so I can more confidently interact with the friendly waitstaff at deaf-run food carts and a local coffee shop. This looked well designed, and promising for me. I didn't get very far: very soon, the pop-up ads and relentless looping interruptions pushing purchase of the Premium version made the app unusable. I have deleted it an am looking for something more accessible and free or much less costly.

This is a great app for beginners or for those who just want to practice. This app treaches me to read sign as well as learning sign. I'm thankful for the careful teachers on it. Also, you can watch the video of his sign as many times as you need. They even have a "slow down" button. I've recommended this app to many fellow students that a are taking class with me

Needs work
I really wanted to love this. As most people like me are using this on a phone they need to consider how things display in small format. Trying to figure out hand shape is really hard. I don't need to see half the persons body to id a letter. I need the hand bigger within the field. The person who signs the phrase has such long beautiful nails she does not display the letter the way its usually seen confusing that part. With some improvements it will be perfect.

So far, I love this app, I work with special needs children and I know a little bit of sign language, but wanted to learn more to teach my kids. This app has been helpful. The only suggestion I have is when you have multiple instructors, making sure their signs look exactly the same. It has been a little confusing when the instructors signs don’t look exactly the same.
