Life changing
Learning languages has never felt accessible to me because private tutors are expensive, classes are expensive, and we all know duolingo doesn’t really cut it for actually speaking a language. I’ve always heard that the best way to learn a language is to immerse yourself in it, but traveling to other countries is expensive too! Enter italki: an affordable platform where you get to connect with native speakers of many many languages and dialects (this is the only place I’ve found a tutor for Egyptian Arabic). You can watch videos from tutors introducing themselves to see if you think your tutor will be a good fit for your learning goals and common interests, and you can see their whole schedule. Italki seriously makes it so so easy. I can’t necessarily jump on a plane to Mexico or Egypt to immerse myself in a language, but italki feels pretty dang close. I’ve learned more, and more quickly, than ever before in my life. For the first time being fluent in another language feels possible! I truly can’t recommend italki enough! And some other online tutoring platforms seemed really sketchy, but I can confirm from years of usage that italki is straightforward and there are no hidden fees. 🖖🏼 Happy learning!!

5 star teachers - 3 star app
5 star classes with great teachers. 2-3 star app which needs replacing. Nothing beats italki for learning a language online. No screen app - just the in person video classes from experienced native speakers or those with much training in the language, almost all of whom have teaching credentials of one kind or another - and who can work with you at any level, A1 beginner to C2 advanced. Plus, so many languages with teaches all over the world. That's the 5 star part. The 3 or 2 star part is the app itself. Just about everything on it is difficult to navigate, hard to find, and, in the case of calendaring, gives a completely insufficient amount of useful info. Please italki, contract a professional app developer and have your site completely modernized and rationalized. Sometimes I think using your app is harder than learning the dative case in German! Ok, well maybe in some more difficult language. No matter how rubbish the italki app, absolutely use the italki service if you really want to learn a foreign language and you're not in that particular country. It's available at many different prices and teacher levels. You really don't need a highly trained & expensive teacher at the beginning, but you will as you progress. But then you'll be committed in your mind to learning. There are many different teachers - so if not having success with one, try another!

Helped me learn Spanish
I started using iTalki about 3 months after seriously studying Spanish independently. I have tried a good number of different tutors and have consistently used 2 in particular consistently for now over a year and I noticed a drastic improvement with my learning. I was able to gain more confidence with my speaking, help with my pronunciation, and improved my listening skills tremendously with my tutors. I have tried other Tutoring apps and have found that iTalki has a better overall quality of tutors. I like that you can choose between Professional Tutors and Community Tutors, as well as the different prices and packages, and can choose which time and dates work for your schedule. Most of my tutors on iTalki have been useful, efficient, prepared, nice, and most importantly patient. I highly recommend and can attest to it’s effectiveness. I plan to continue booking with my Spanish tutors to further improve my abilities, and will also use it to find tutors for Tagalog.

New Update Breaks Part of App
I’ve been using italki for years. Never had any trouble with the app until today. I mostly just use it to schedule lessons and chat with my teachers. I’ve updated to the latest version and was greeted with a loading screen that took about 8-10 seconds to complete. It asked me to see all the new tools for learning, but when I clicked on the button, it launched another loading screen that ended up with ghost divs. I could see the page layout but every box was greyed out and without any text. Would love to know what the new tools are but alas. I clicked the other menu buttons and luckily my conversations are in tact as well as my profile and whatever the planet icon represents. So it's only the first menu item that is malfunctioning for me. Please fix as I now have a sneaky suspicion I probably need that page for something. Thanks! Update: Actually I just tried to access the #readingcomprehension prompt and that page won't load. The header is there but there is no text and no questions to answer. So it looks like the new changes are cascading through the other pages even though on first glance those pages seemed fine.

Too many last minute cancellations from teachers with 100% attendance
The concept of italki is fantastic and there are some great tutors out there. I have been using it very happily until…There are a few teachers who are unreliable and don’t show up. Unfortunately italki does not resolve these well. Here’s why: if a teacher cancels within 12 hours, you cannot schedule another class during that timeframe. You have to just wait until it’s over. The teacher does not get penalized in any way, in fact, their attendance rate still shows as 100%. So you cannot filter out the reliable teachers/tutors from the unreliable ones. There should be a “late cancel” option. Furthermore I have a teacher who did not show up, then wrote to me and said “oops I didn’t notice I had a class” yet he didn’t want to mark the class as no show. The class has gone into dispute and I can’t block this teacher who keeps sending me nasty messages because I didn’t accept his request. Italki is good, but this is a very bad way of handling No Shows and Last Minute Cancellations. I have a busy schedule and I want to take a class every day yet due to this unfortunate feature, I cannot. Currently looking into italki alternatives.

Language learning confidence has increased, but…
Pros: I love italki. I didn’t think I would because I’m super anxious and I was worried I couldn’t find a teacher that I would vibe with, but I did! I’m learning Slovenian with this amazing teacher I found (who’s actually from my small hometown there!) and it’s just been amazing. My confidence in speaking has skyrocketed! I’ve even taken Korean lessons on there for a few months and although my interest in Korean has dwindled, it was still really enjoyable. Highly recommend if you can find a teacher you like. Cons: the italki classroom isn’t the best when it comes to internet connectivity. Sometimes if I enter the classroom before a lesson is slated to begin, it boots me out for whatever reason even though I use an Ethernet cable and my teacher’s connection is good. Sometimes my teacher has connected, but the classroom system says they haven’t, so I have to refresh the page which makes them think I’m late and.. bleh. It’s just unnecessarily stressful. Definitely something that could be looked into more by italki and improved upon.

Best Way to Learn Languages
Honestly? I don't know how I'd survive learning Japanese without Italki. I've been using it since 2019, when I started learning the language at college, and I pretty much live on the app now. I use it every week to contact my teacher, get assignments, book classes, and brush up on my vocabulary. I can even send audio messages, which has been super helpful in checking my pronunciation. Having everything available in one app is convenient, especially on busy days when I only have my phone on me. Sometimes the Italki video sessions freeze, but this has only happened 2x in all the times I've used it. If this happens, there are other video platform options that Italki works with. If I had anything to suggest, it would be that I think the app needs a better way for teachers/students to share resources and assignments. Currently, the files get dropped into the chat box, but this makes it hard to find sources later, should you want to review them.

The best tool for speaking another language
I’ve been using iTalki for a few years now. I can’t recommend it highly enough. I love the ability to be able to find teachers that are cost-effective and interesting to talk to. You can take formal lessons in a language or just chat. I prefer to chat because what I miss in my day-to-day life is speaking in another language. So I’m less concerned about learning the language and more about just having talking practice. So I choose teachers who chat. We talk about their lives and my life and a whole lot of things that challenge me to put it into practice the language learning that I am getting in other places.I currently have three teachers that I work with each of whom brings something slightly different to the learning experience.I credit iTalki for the fact that I can actually converse in my new language. And that’s a huge thing for me.

Very happy with italki!
Italki is a great resource! Easily connecting with a native (Russian) speaking instructor has really sped up my learning. I have not had any problems with the app at all and find it easy and functional, though I will say I primarily use the website (which is very intuitive and makes communicating and connecting with my instructor/uploading money/reserving lessons/and viewing my upcoming schedule easy and organized). In terms of the actual learning via italki - I really enjoy and appreciate italki! It is by far the most efficient way to find and connect with a reputable instructor (and with so options for instructors to choose from you can easily find one who suits your style) that I have come across! The lesson price for my instructor is very reasonable too, and she is excellent and has made a huge difference in my learning. I highly recommend italki!

Super annoying - need to confirm every lesson and forced to rate teacher after every lesson
Every time you have a lesson, in order for the teacher to get paid, you have to login to the website or app and confirm the lesson. This further requires you to enter your password each time, which is an additional irritating step. It also forces you to leave a rating for the teacher every single time. I don’t mind leaving a review after the first lesson or having the option to leave a review after each lesson, but this app forces you to do so after every lesson or else your teacher doesn’t get paid right away - it makes them wait for their payments. I use other apps for other types of lessons and the teacher is paid automatically - there’s no need to login after the lesson unless there was a problem. I like the teacher that I use on italki which is the only reason I keep using it. If I am able to switch to a different platform with the same teacher, I will definitely do that because this is the most user unfriendly of all apps I have. I am reminded of this each week on each lesson.

Great Service. Easy To Use App
Everything about my experience has been positive this far, from using the app to adding credits to booking lessons to interaction with teachers to feedback. I am an absolute beginner in learning a language in this way so after getting past the initial nervousness of videoing with teachers worldwide, the experience, I believe will be rewarding in the long run. There are so many quality teachers whether professional or community teachers so it makes it hard to choose one. I feel there is a teacher to fit every budget and language experience level. I really liked having 3 trial lessons for those teachers because I was able to meet 3 different teachers for 30 minutes before determining which was the best fit at this time for me. I would certainly recommend italki even if to just give it a try. Thanks

My Italian has improved so much thanks to Gloria my tutor
I really love using this app. I only wish I tried it before. I found my first Italian teacher through a language exchange website and she was not very good - always late, lessons were boring and I didn’t learn anything. Then I tried italki - I could view intro videos and did some trial lessons. So I found a few tutors that I liked and did lessons with 3 different people until I found Gloria who is absolutely amazing. I have been doing weekly lessons for about 4 months and then I went to Italy and I was able to speak to people!!! All thanks to my amazing tutor. Of course I study a lot on my own bur it’s mostly passive learning - the only way you can improve your speaking ability is with a good tutor.

Italki
Italki connects teachers and students interested in advancing their conversational skills in many foreign languages. Italki offers a prospective student with 3 trial lessons which help ensure that you find an instructor with a teaching style that fits your needs. Overall their platform, both web based and their smart phone apps are quite good. It appears that they have attracted good teachers to their platform and ratings help highlight the best. I am hopeful that additional attention can be made to the interface such as asking whether one is sure submitting a response is their intent as well as better support for the Mac (such as Pages) or at least not stripping out MS Word markup such that teacher corrections to written text can be viewed and discussed. However, as students of foreign language we recognize that there is always room for improvement.

iTalki is an example of the great social good the internet can accomplish
iTalki delivers on the promise of global connectivity and a global community by connecting thousands of native language speakers with eager language learners. With iTalki I've become semi fluent in French in two years of tegular lessons, and very affordably. A generation ago this wouldn't even have been possible; even if I could have found a native French speaker nearby, the lessons could never have been as convenient or affordable. Now I take lessons at 6 am or 11 pm, on weekends and weekdays, sometimes once a week, sometimes three times, sometimes with a professional teacher but mostly with a great group of friendly enthusiastic community tutors. I hear different accents from several different francophone countries, male and female, young and not so young. the app is super reliable. the user interface is clean and easy to use. I can message teachers, schedule leasons, and have the lessons themselves in the iTalki classroom. The teachers have told me iTalki keeps around 15% of their fee which seems reasonable for the service provided. iTalki works best for self motivated students with a little background in thr language.

A tale of two languages
I first used Italki to study Arabic, a language I had already studied. I have a wonderful teacher with whom I meet once a week. The lessons are wonderful and very instructive. I then decided to study Italian, a language I didn’t know. I found this to be more challenging and I think the reason is that we were only meeting once a week. The constant drilling and conversation practice you need to do to really learn the language was harder to do on Italki. So, if it is language you are learning for the first time, I think having a live instructor is preferable, unless you are willing to go on Italki several times per week. Italki might do well to consider organizing groups for new learners that provide such practice to beginners, perhaps in conjunction with a teacher you meet with once a week.

Excellent resource to learn a language
I’ve been using italki for over a year now, having initially wanted to give it a try to augment Duolingo. Italki allows you to connect to people all over the world, so what I’ve discovered that I really enjoy about it is that I can learn about the culture and how people live in other parts of the world WHILE learning Spanish. The other aspect of having 1:1 classes is the ability to dig into nuances of the language that don’t come across in books. As with English, there are so many phrases and non literal translations that are used in practice and again, not something you learn in books or formal group classes. I’m a big fan of italki and have found a great instructor that I continue to work with!

Perfect complement to Babbel
As a Professor of Foreign Language, I can attest to the fact that we need to both work on our own to develop the foundations of the language (grammar, syntax, vocabulary) and work with a native teacher to put that learning into action. For the former, Babbel is the best. For the latter, Italki is the best. The ability to choose native-speaker teachers from different parts of a country and with different areas of expertise allows us to broaden the range of accents we can understand and the range of topics we can discuss. The interface is easy, the lessons affordable, and the experience transformational. Can't say enough good things about the teachers and how they've turned my trips to Italy into deep and rich cultural experiences.

Don’t wait. It really is better than you can imagine
I’ve known about italki for more than a year but never got around to trying it because I was skeptical that it would be a good experience and I was a little tired of doing online meetings all the time for work. That was a huge mistake. Just do one or two trial sessions and you will quickly realize like I did that the quality of instructors is really amazingly good and the experience is fantastic. I’ve had sessions with three instructors, all excellent, and I am very excited to finally be making real progress towards my language learning goal. And the sessions are fun. I am learning so much. Oh, also the scheduling is super easy.

Italki is really helping me.
In January 2021, I started using Duolingo to learn Spanish, just for fun. I ended up really liking it and decided to try to learn to speak Spanish. As I approached the two-year mark, I knew quite a bit of Spanish vocabulary, but I couldn’t really speak. A friend suggested I get a tutor through Italki. As far as talking went, I didn’t really know how to express myself. I’d try translating as I went, but I’d always get stuck. My tutor is a wonderful young lady and a very good teacher. She said I needed to stop using English and just do my best in Spanish. That was the greatest advice. In the beginning, only speaking in Spanish was difficult and a bit frustrating, but I kept going. I do one one-hour class per week. Now I can get by talking only in Spanish. My listening and reading skills are still much better than my speaking skills, but I’m improving! Currently, I am doing both Duolingo and Italki. I wish I had started Italki after one year instead of two. Talking to someone from a Spanish-speaking country has been very valuable, and I highly recommend Italki.

5 stars for iTalki, 3 for the app itself
I’m learning Japanese with a couple of teachers during this lockdown, and iTalki has been great so far. The app has some annoying bugs, though, like not retrieving payment info from my keychain, teacher reviews coming up as white text on white, and a few other things I’m forgetting. In time this should be great. Edit: it just ate a message I spent some time composing in Japanese. Had to redo it on the website. I’m uninstalling and will stick to the website. The app is definitely not ready. Also, all of my lessons have moved to Skype, as the classroom function is extremely slow. To the devs: Sorry, I’m spending quite a bit of money and time taking lessons on your site and will likely soon be teaching English on here as well. Your employees should be the ones testing the app, not paying users.

Great platform great teachers.
Italki does a great job choosing their tutors and teachers. They limit how many teachers and tutors they hire for each subject and language which weeds out all the others who really don’t qualify to call themselves teachers. A lot of platforms allow anyone to teach which is great for them but not for students looking for a quality learning experience. I have used italki for years for various languages and have never been disappointed in the teachers I’ve met and booked class with. I will continue to use them for years to come. Thank you italki for continuing to provide consistent quality classes and teachers.

Learning late in life
I retired right before Covid I needed something to keep my mind going. I am so happy I fond italki My teacher is fantastic and after 3 years I can carry on a decent conversation in Italian. I went to Italy last year and had minimal issues with reading Italian . Speaking is a bit difficult for me due to not remembering words but from being a person who could barely speak English correctly and I was born in the USA! My teacher (insegnata) has taken the time to work with me and improve my grammar my speaking and my ability to read. Had to use italki and a wonderful Italian teacher to learn correct grammar in Italian and English !!! Recommend to anyone

Good platform, affordable, and great collection of teachers
I have been using italki for over a year. I worked with two different teachers at different times. I am learning Greek because I live and work in Athens now. I am not of Greek origin… I married a Greek, so I need a lot of help to improve my ability to communicate and interact with the people all around me. Italki has helped me get individual attention to accelerate my learning. My friends and family here have told me that I am making great progress. I have recommended italki to other friends who are interested in developing foreign language skills. I give italki the highest ratings.

Great teachers, good service, very rough app
Sign in with Apple is basically a lie. You can sign in with Apple, but then if you try to use the app, you’re blocked from most basic functionality (even just marking a lesson as completed) without creating a password and more of an account in the iTalki system. I wish they would respect the Sign in with Apple account and actually let it be fully functional. Also, the ‘free trial’ is broken because you have to confirm your phone number, but then get an error loop about it not being confirmed, so that’s false advertising/a lie? And things like calendar integration are very limited, you can’t select which calendar to put lessons on, instead iTalki creates its own new calendar (not what I want at all) and writes to that. Great teachers, good service, very rough app. I look forward to better app versions in the future!

Recent update ruined italki
Why did you take away the option to search for language partners and move everything else to the phone app and remove it from the website? I downloaded the app to look for language partners and there is no way to search for them. You have a large community of people serious about learning languages but no way of finding them. You call these new changes the community but how is it a community if you can’t find the other members. Now the app is just full of people writing requests for language exchanges because there is no way for them to search for other users and ask them directly. There is a section for practicing writing and getting corrections but you have to do it on your phone keyboard because this feature isn’t available on the web app anymore. Writing in another language is hard enough, nobody wants to do it using a tiny keyboard. These changes make no sense. Italki was great how it was before. I have paid for lessons on italki weekly for a year and a half but because of these changes I think I will either find a teacher I can pay directly without going through your app or start using one of your competitors. I honestly think your going to lose a lot of your users with these changes. I can’t be the only one.

Suggestion From Teacher
Thank you guys for what you do! I love being a teacher the past 3 years. I have a request. Is it possible to make notification sounds or pop up banners to notify me when a student messages in the chat bar of the iTalki classroom during the iTalki classroom lesson? I’m usually on another screen the whole lesson and don’t realize when students type something. Skype does this with a sound and banner no matter which screen you are on. WeChat does this because the notifications are linked to my notification center and it pops up in the top right of my computer screen. Same with other conferencing apps.

Love the App - Unfinished Product
Searching for tutors on a specific date/time doesn’t actually work, and support staff don’t really seem to read your support requests the first time. There’s a consistent back and forth with support staff when that could be improved with more attention on their part. The app would be 5 stars if the support staff was reliable. As it stands, the incentive is to close the case quickly without solving the problem, discouraging you from using support services in the first place. Italki is overloading their staff or hiring the wrong people. Either way the answer is to hire more/new people.

Why it works
Duo-lingo is for learning a word or phrase, italki will make you learn a language because you have to sit in front of people and speak that language or just waste your time money and energy speaking your native language. Half the time their english isn't going to be perfect which is good for you, it gives you an opportunity to learn to use the words you know in that foreign language. I knew maybe 20-50 words in russian. Then after like 20 lessons i was at 500 words, then 200 lessons in i could just speak read write listen, the hardest for me is listening.

Please make some improvements
I am both an italki teacher and a student. Overall, I like the scheduling/calendar integrated into the app. However, I’d like to see some improvements with the messaging and italki classroom. I have had a service notification on my app for a year now, and the little red notification never goes away. Please allow us to delete these automated messages. They are almost like spam. They’re unnecessary and have glitches. Secondly, please update the italki classroom so it doesn’t randomly kick the student and teacher out of it during a lesson. Plus, it would be nice to have virtual backgrounds like every other video platform offers. It would also be great to have AI noise cancellation. Google Meet and Zoom both offer these amenities.

Highly disappointed
I was a regular customer to several teachers on italki who were great. Unfortunately italki didn’t care about that at all— They took nearly $100, didn’t allow any more lessons, and now won’t answer any emails! Very disappointing customer service after I had been so loyal to this app. I feel bad for my teachers too but I just can’t justify going back to this company… Update: got a response saying they answer all emails, which is a completely untrue. I reached out again (now that they have a chat feature in the app) and still they are sorry but can’t help me now since it’s been 1.5 years (when I originally reached out via email). They also confirmed that they take 15% commission from all their teachers. It might be better to coordinate with them outside of the app if possible.

Humiliating user experience
Awful experience on the very first lesson! I wanted to change my plans and move a lesson the day before, but there were no such option for me, so I stick to original schedule. Their policy says it is the same for the teacher, they can not cancel/move the lesson 24hours before. However this is not true. The same day of the lesson I got a message from the teacher saying that she had to cancel, just three hours before the lesson. And the money will get back to me. I do not care much about the money, but the fact that the teacher may not appear and you can do nothing about this, is just a humiliating customer experience. Do not recommend to anyone.

Italki took all my teacher money!!!
I’ve been teaching on the platform for 3 years, and I had one student one month before who had some problems with his wallet. Italki claimed that the student’s payments can’t go through the platform so they locked my wallet without any notification!!!!! I kept on teaching for another 2 weeks and when I tried to withdraw the money!! I can’t. They said they will not pay me unless I have the proof to have the class with the student. How? I never recorded our lesson and plus it’s privacy. I gave them the proof of video call timeline but they said it’s not sufficient. Avoid this platform!! As a teacher I never missed any 15% penny commission fee to them and now they don’t blame the student but me! Also you will never get back the money if you buy credits even though you don’t like it.

Horrible money wasting experience
I found a teacher I liked finally after going through 3: one of which abruptly quit and the other which actively was teasing me for not knowing something during a class. Finally a teacher I like! Then the issues with the program started. First I couldn’t always schedule something. Not like I couldn’t read the schedule therefore I was doing it wrong. No. It just simply wouldn’t let me click. Desktop, app, both of them. Whenever I finally managed to schedule something, I couldn’t look at details of my lessons, the pages wouldn’t load, constant “oops something went wrong” messages. Finally after missing 60 dollars worth of classes because of this stupidity I’ve decided to call the rest of my money a loss. You won’t be seeing me again!

Fantastic app for all language learners
I rarely write app reviews but over the past years I’ve practiced my French with a native speaker and also started learning Spanish. I’ve found all the instructors to be competent and flexible to your needs. I think learning a language is never easy but with the in-app challenges and groups plus consistency it’s perfect for whatever your goals are. The classroom feature is particularly flexible , you have white board functionality plus an ease of meeting via whatever platform works for you zoom, italki, etc

Poor client service from app administrators
I used the app for many months with many teachers without having major problems. I had good teachers and other regulars but still enjoyed using the app. Until I had a problem with a 5 lesson package with a teacher. The teacher was absent for no reason and then she didn't answer my messages and disappeared still owing me two classes from the packet. I went to the administrators of the platform and they always directed me to solve with the teacher but the teacher did not answer me. After many attempts with the administrators, they still have not credited me money for some classes that the teacher did not offer. They cannot be counted on to help you effectively and quickly if you have a problem with the teachers.

Great resource
I am happy to use italki for my language learning, specifically with Spanish. There are quality teachers at reasonable prices which have helped me advance in my language learning. The one thing I would improve is the feature to record classes. The file comes out as a continuous audio/video stream where you cannot pause or skip to specific time points of the class. Otherwise, the learning platform is very stable with helpful features for commenting, messaging, sharing files, and reserving classes :)

I think I finally found the best teacher for me, thanks to iTalk!
I just finished a lesson with Maria B. and let me tell you, she. is. good. I really like her teaching style. And I wouldn’t have found her if it were not for iTalki! So if you’re on the fence about using iTalki, get off it and sign up! iTalki provide such a variety of teachers to choose from. And, I love how iTalki provides a short intro by the teacher so you can at least know if this person is the right teacher to try, at least for one class. I wish I had used iTalki before now. But I’m here now!

I was a teacher for about a year
I was on italki for about a year. Then I found a job and tried to place that I wouldn’t be available for my students. They blocked me from getting new students and when I tried to get back to working with them they completely ignored me when I told them I needed more students or it wouldn’t be worth for me to be on the app. Kept blocking me so I stopped logging in the app and they canceled my teacher account completely. Now that I could go back to it full time. I’m just not even going to try because they are the worst I’ve ever have in customer service! Even for those they got money from. As my past student keep asking me for lessons and I am just not allowed to. También hablo perfecto español (soy nativa). Lo cual era muy conveniente para mis estudiantes. Esta aplicación ha sido muy decepcionante para mi. Aunque al principio haya sido conveniente. Es una lástima.

International travel from your desktop (or phone)
I’ve been using italki for a few weeks now, and absolutely love it! Years ago, I traveled to Central America to study Spanish, and sat across the desk from a private tutor in Guatemala. It was a great adventure, and I’d love to repeat it, but who has the time? italki has re-created the experience for me. I’ve now had lessons with teachers from several different countries, all of which have been excellent and recreate the personal attention I once got across that desk, but now we use a virtual whiteboard.

Highly recommend!!
The hardest part of learning a language is getting over the fear of opening my mouth and engaging in a conversation—knowing full well I will make mistakes. iTalki has helped me TREMENDOUSLY in that regard. Having opportunities for authentic communication—with an instructor who can help guide me when I get tangled up in grammar or am lacking the right vocabulary—is a total game changer. There are so many instructors to choose from, so take a little time to find one that resonates with you, and start on the path to greater confidence and competence!

Great, It just needs one more feature:
I could be mistaken, but i have no idea why some scheduling apps don’t have an option for selecting an available time, and then seeing the teachers available during that hour. Learning languages is a VERY time sensitive and INTERNATIONAL thing, so I shouldn't have to look at each individual teacher for their available times. If i'm looking for a teacher (especially one halfway across the globe) i should be able to select a certain time that I am available, and then select from the teachers who have already made their schedule free during that hour. Im not sure if this feature is already made, but to my knowledge it isn’t. It shouldn’t be that huge of a fix, and once it is, then i’ll give 5 stars.

Very useful
My only complaint is limiting how frequently you can post answers to questions. People post questions because they want answers. If no one answers and you are limited because you answered someone already then it can become frustrating for the other both parties. Also if I just answered a question and they send a thank you, you’re forced to wait to reply back. This can make people think they’re being ignored. Or worse, that you’re not interested in starting a dialog to help one another. Bottom line, these types of limits shouldn’t exist.

Amazing! Only a few small gripes, but nothing major
I haven’t had any bad experiences so far, and I’ve been able to learn so much in such a short amount of time. HOWEVER, it would be amazing if you could sort teachers by which dialect they teach for some languages. For Vietnamese, I’m learning the Southern dialect and it’s a pain having to view every teacher’s profile to see which one teaches north or south dialect, but maybe it’s just me being spoiled 🤔. 10/10 would definitely recommend 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Excellent way to develop and maintain language skills
I have just started using Italki, but I already noticed how convenient this platform is. It is really easy to locate teachers and arrange lessons. The cost is quite reasonable, and the platform is well-developed, allowing the teacher to provide direct feedback in the form of text. The quality of the audio and video will depend on the teacher's setup, overall this truly seems like a great system. I will look forward to more lessons!

Why I don’t like this app
Overall this app is very detailed and helpful to tailor your needs to learn a language. That I would give 5 stars. The reason why I gave this app a poor rating is its xenophobic payment system. My native language is English and I live in Russia. I looked at their payment system and they don’t accept Russian bank cards. This app essentially is Russophobic and discriminates Russian based people-ethnic or foreign who only have access to the local Russian banks. This is a major error in Italki’s part. Many Russians have a desire to learn another language too and to exclude them from this is a major disservice. I have deleted my account in extreme disgust at the behavior of Italki. Fix this grievous issue and I may re rate it to a superior rating.

Outstanding Choice for Language Learners
I highly recommend italki for learning new languages. It's a great platform because it lets you choose when to have lessons and offers many teachers with different teaching styles. The app is easy to use, and there are affordable options, including discounts for buying multiple classes. Whether you're just starting out or looking to improve, italki provides excellent support and resources to help you make great progress.

iTalki has changed my life!
I have been a student on iTalki for 6 years now. I have connected with approximately 200 teachers. I have a favored set of about 25 teachers that I have studied with over months and years. Through my work on the platform, I have become very proficient in Portuguese, Spanish and Chinese, while also studying Japanese, Hebrew, Russian and Arabic. I have connected with teachers from many regions, so I feel comfortable with native speakers, regardless the accent. I highly recommend iTalki

Customer service issues
I’ve tried this app for 3 languages. Half of the time the teachers flake - as in they are no longer teaching yet they keep their profiles up. I only find this out AFTER I pay them. Funny how that works. Seems scammy. Then I contact customer service. They say, oh just terminate the package. Funny thing - it costs you to terminate the package. It’s in the app. It costs you. Yet when I contact customer service they just keep saying terminate the package and just keep ignoring my complaint that it costs me money to terminate the package when it’s not my fault. This italki is not worth it. When I’m done with all my lessons I’m going to delete the app.

Ideal Learning Platform
Italki is an excellent and affordable tutoring program. You can participate in either group or private lessons. I had been trying to learn Spanish on my own, with apps, etc. for an embarrassingly long time. While these format help, nothing can replace an actual teacher. My Spanish comprehension and usage has improved immensely since I have begun using the Italki app. I found an excellent professional instructor who has been wonderful. I highly recommend Italki!

Excellent Application for progressing your language skills
I would say this application is great for intermediate and more advanced students or students who already have general conversational skills in Spanish. There are so many professors available to communicate with on here and everyone I have worked with has been very professional and helpful. You can learn at your own pace and the prices are very reasonable. Would definitely recommend.
