The content is amazingly helpful, I am using the windows basics training videos to help me with the MTA. The only nit-pick I have with the app is that I would like to see a display-stream option. I’m not sure if that’s the correct terminology, but I’d like to be able to stream the videos to my TV through the app. I know it may seem arbitrary because of the website version, but TV’s are generally larger and in living rooms, where people can usually get more comfortable than sitting in a desk chair. Hopefully this isn’t too difficult to implement and a quick update can be provided. Thank you for what all of you do, regardless.
Content itself is like a 7/10. HOWEVER the app for iPhone/iPad is not very user friendly and it not something I’d expect from a company that specializing in teaching tech skills. Some of the more frustrating problems with the app are: -App frequently logs me out when switching between watching on iPhone and iPad. -No bookmark feature to add series to the homepage/user dashboard. -No button to download all videos in a series at once. Have to go to every single individual video you want to watch and press download. For example it would be easier if you could just go to the “Security+” series page and download all videos in that series. -Home page shows you recently watched videos. But I don’t care if I just watched a recently viewed video. I want to watch the next video. Would suggest showing the most recent watched SERIES (not episode) on the home page. Not as annoying but still annoying: -Videos take a bit longer to download than other on similar apps -prefer an audio option only to listen on my commute. ITProTv definitely could benefit from using CBT Nuggets app as an example ;)
Content is fantastic! The app doesn’t track your history in order and show the next video in the series you’re watching. This needs the option for auto play and/or play next, hopefully an update comes soon these things are common in 2019 app. Example: To watch the next video in the series, I have to remember the video I just watched while I go back select the series, then scroll through to find my place to select the next video. Oh ya I forgot to mention in the series it doesn’t list all the ones you have watched(aka show a history like everything else everywhere). Seems like the app functionality has been ignored for whatever reason. Another review said it well, NEEDS MODERNIZATION. Content is 8.5/10 but the app functionality is a 2.
The content is good, and the wide selection of topics is great. But this app is like something from 5 years ago. It desperately needs modernization. Recommended updates: -proper progress, history tracking -auto play next episode (chronological order based on the episode list) -in Recommended, show the actual next chronological episode, not just other random episodes -reduce friction to switch between full screen, audio-only playback (too many taps, and too long to wait for loading) -episode download feature seems to fail often, the download button is greyed out -playback speed adjustments would be nice -better sorting and navigation of the content --Every time I open the app I have to go through the entire library to find the next episode I want to watch (chronological order). The recently watched feature is nice, but it doesn't show the next chronologically sorted episode. The current process is painful and frustrating. The content is good, and if the app were modernized it would be a great all around training solution.
The app does not allow you to cast to another screen from the screen share option within the video. When trying to screen cast, it states that no devices are available. It then requests that you enable Local Network access, however, when going to the application, the option to enable Local Network access is missing. Please fix…
AppleTV version is buggd and plays 2 audio tracks when autoplaying, I have to restart the video to stop it. I have the latest tvOS. Other platforms I've had no problem. Interface is basic but functional. Some trainers are knowledgable but not good presenters, trying to talk too fast, stumbling over their words, and constantly correcting themselves. Many have commented the A course is rambling and stumbling that goes on forever, often on tangents. People point this out and the response is that he won awards. Great, he still needs help speaking publicly. Some presenters are great, Azure course for example. I'll probably stick around for the other training, not A .
Very user friendly & perfect for on the go training!
The new updates to the app have been a great improvement from last year. I love the ability to change playback speed and easily see when they are live in studios on the “on air” page. Having the ability to learn on-the-go is a big deal for me and the app allows me to do that!
After hearing so much about IT Pro TV, I’m astonished by how poor this app is. Its mediocrity is surpassed only by the lame Apple TV app. Lack of features: No picture in picture support. No airplay support. Doesn’t track the courses you’ve started. Audio-only seems buggy, no playback controls, takes a while to start. No account management. This reminds me of a 2nd gen Apple TV app. I should say this review is for the app. I would give the content another star. These apps don’t encourage me to renew/maintain my subscription.
This app has so much potential to be great but seems to miss the mark and from the previous reviews from over a year ago, it seems little has changed. Biggest things i’ve noticed on the app that are annoying, 1. No progress tracker of courses. 2. Playback speed after 1.1 speed start sounding distorted. 3. No ability to see resource notes on a video. 4. Navigating around the app doesn’t feel that intuitive and seamless. I hope to see some changes soon as this is a paid subscription and I spend the majority of my time on the go and utilize my iOS device frequently.
The app freezes, on iphone and iPad. You can only hear when it freezes. Also when driving it freezes a lot and when it becomes available it comes back very fast. It’s very annoying when it does freezes even under wifi. I use Udemy while driving and that app works flawlessly, you might want to contact them and ask for help. Thinking about canceling the service just for this reason. Horrible experience.
Background video/audio playback is non existent. Pauses as soon as the app is minimized or if you even pull down the Notification Center shade. Transcripts aren’t available in the app Videos also need to downloaded individually for playback in less than ideal network scenarios. Would be nice to bulk download a full courses video.
App works great and is an almost perfect supplement to the website. Really wish it had playback speed controls and the interactive transcriptions. Some of the courses (take the social engineering one for example) need that speed control when the info is great but the presenter kind of takes a while to spit it out.
When trying to Chromecast from the app I am told there are no devices available and to make sure local access is enabled for the app in settings. When in the setting for the app there is no option for local access to enable. This is a function I had planned on using a lot and is completely useless right now. Please fix
I love the content it keeps me entertained when I just want to listen to things and it’s a plus that I’m learning something. The app is not the best it doesn’t have a dark mode the biggest problem now is that it keeps on crashing whenever I hit courses.
I’ve been a user of the app off and on for the last 2 years and I really am a fan of the new dashboard view! It makes it so much easier to resume content I previously watched. Can’t wait to see what you all add next!
Great App and good education. However sometimes the content is explained way too quickly even at reduced speeds. This might be beneficial to those with prior IT knowledge/experience but tough for those new to the industry. Otherwise great platform!
The app isn’t quite as robust as the browser version but that’s expected. I think they’ve made great updates and made learning from different devices really easy. I also like how the UX is similar on different devices
Easily 5 stars just for content alone but my only gripe is the playback speed. I can’t see what speed I’m using because I’m just tapping on a symbol of a man? 10% of what speed? Doesn’t make any sense. Otherwise it’s definitely a solid app.
This app is frustrating to utilize. - While watching a video, selecting a new video under “Related Content” doesn’t cause it to play. You have to navigate back a screen - and then select a video - for it to play properly. - After a video finishes playing, the app will not start playing the next one in the playlist. - The app does not remember your playback speed settings. It will always default back to 1.0x speed once you start a new video. - The app appears to not have been tested for use on the iPhone SE, as UI elements appear crowded/cut off. I gave the app two stars because at least it lets me watch videos, albeit poorly.
I spend more time resetting this application because it always freezes and the videos pause all the time the app barely functions which is very sad hopefully whoever made this app starts to step up because this is ridiculous I don’t see how you expect to be taken seriously was such a low quality application
I’ve seen the videos and they make great content, but I can’t get them to play on my phone with their app. Video playback errors have me troubleshooting on Day 1. Updates and reinstalling didn’t work.
I would LOVE to be able to cast to my tv but when I go to cast it immediately displays”No devices available” like it doesn’t even bother scanning. YES local network access is turned on and my work is on. Please fix.
I normally watch on my desktop of appleTV, but wanted another way to watch when I travel. The app is perfect for that. Easy to find the courses, and very clear video.
The download for iOS it take a a while for me WiFi or cellular unless it was iPhone 6s. I got a newer phone may work better will update to see if there’s a difference.
I am a premium user and cannot access the content on the app. After login it immediately takes me to the home page and i scroll to my current course and it says the videos are locked and that i have to sign in or upgrade my account to access the content. I try signing again and the process repeats... love the content though.
The content for itpro is great, lots of good stuff. But the app doesn’t indicate the played state per video and doesn’t seem to sync back the played state to the web page for videos you watch here. Courses are long with lots of info but that also means you won’t finish them in one sitting so that played state is a must.
Material is pretty decent, however, the App still is missing a basic feature, a bookmark. It’s pretty annoying going back and trying to pick up where you left off when you have to go search for the course every time. The bookmark feature should’ve been a day 1 feature but it’s not and makes me not want to use the app.
I can’t speak to the content because I haven’t taken a certification based on courses. However, from an application perspective users really need to be able track what content has been completed via iOS. It’s really frustrating when you are trying to study or complete a course quickly.
Keeps crashing carplay, difficult to change videos quickly (having to scroll up to the top to press the play button), not easy to resume my course (have to search for it again. would be nice to "favorite" the course), and I have to say, paying $50 a month to listen to Daniel Lowrie mumble is kinda not okay.
The app really needs a modern user interface with an ability to at least bookmark content to your profile. I am used to apps allowing me to add a track to my profile showing where I am at and what is next in my list.
