Greatly Improved App. / Helps Me Learn Without Anxiety
I’ve been using Jumpspeak for almost a year now. There were definitely bugs in the beginning, but the developers have been super responsive. The app is now a pleasure to use, even if I only have a few minutes to practice Spanish. I found the app online while living in South America. My Spanish was rough, but it was hard to practice speaking and listening comprehension with other people because of anxiety issues. Jumpspeak has helped me feel more confident in my interactions with Spanish-speakers. The conversations on the app are relevant and natural-sounding. I have been told that my accent and flow while speaking Spanish are excellent. I will say that I recommend beginners to use supplemental sources for learning grammar, as Jumpspeak does not focus on that. However, it is by far the best conversational practice tool I have found- especially for people with anxiety. Highly recommend! Glad this app exists!

This app needs a lot of work…
Let me tell you about my very short experience. I’m trying to become much more fluent in Japanese, and I saw this as a really great tool as I only have few speaking partners and they are all sleeping when I’m awake and want to practice. Enter Jumpspeak. I saw ads for this app and was excited to give it a try. I thought the price was a little steep for essentially an AI practice partner, but if it got me speaking more, I was all for it. Boy was I wrong. The conversational topics seemed forced and limited. Almost as if they didn’t know what else to include in the app to talk about. There were no apparent conversation choices about more relevant topics, making me feel disengaged. Often times the AI would catch itself in what I call a “compliment loop” where you both are saying the same thing over and over add infinitum. Other times, I get the SQL database information (that I shouldn’t get) and in a JAPANESE accent but in ENGLISH the bot reads the DB info. This happened to me 3 times, and each time broke the flow and immersion of the experience. This was enough for me to request a refund. While this app does have massive potential, it’s isn’t there yet. For it to be in release and still have major bugs appear so frequently, but charge so much and for support to be so shallow is unacceptable for me. If things improve, I could potentially be back, but for now, this was a massive waste of my time, research, money, and energy. Unfortunate.

All smoke and mirrors, NO substance and probably all paid or fake reviews
Wow. If I wanted to spend the absolute minimum amount of time building an app just so I could promote it as an affordable option and then just flood unwitting victims with up sells costing several times more than the original offer, which after skipping and bypassing reveal only a shell of an app with horrible voice detection, no formal instruction or guidance, just a bunch of AI chats that will jumble languages together you aren’t even trying to study, not recognize even basic spoken words in the language of study, and ZERO of the promised value, THIS IS THE APP I WOULD BUILD. You will get ZERO guided instruction, ZERO videos onto watch, ZERO constructive feedback other than the AI ‘critique’ of the horrible speech to text feature that got more of the spoken words wrong than it got right. PLEASE don’t waste your time on this app or this company. Their objective is to extract the maximum amount of money from you as possible and no focus on providing actual value - at least if you’re not independently wealthy and can’t afford to pay - I’m pretty sure all the upsell attempts added up to well over $1K/year. Possibly multiples of that. We’ll see how ‘risk free’ their refund offer actually is.

Scammed
I am extremely disappointed in this app and this company. I saw an ad on Christmas Day for a discounted sign up price. I was excited to try out the app at the price of $59. After signing up, it takes you through a list of “add ons” that I quickly went through with no intention of subscribing to. A week later my card was charged $295, almost six times the amount I had originally paid. I reached out to customer service who said I was signed up for a tutoring service that I had not used nor will use. I told them there must be a misunderstanding because I was never aware of signing up for this service and had not used it. I asked if I could be refunded under the circumstances. After going back and forth over email THEY REFUSED TO REFUND ME! They said they would cancel the service but that they would not refund me. The company took $295 from my card on file without me knowing. I am a teaching assistant at a university training to be a professor. Many of my students need to fulfill a language requirement to complete their degree. I was hoping to share this app as a helpful tool to many of them. However, like them, I will REFUSE because I cannot lead my students to support an unethical company like Jumpspeak

It’s a fun concept
I love that this is the closest thing you have to simulate real conversations with locals minus doing it in real life. This chatbot concept does open the door to build fluency drills without having to feel embarrassed about how to say proper pronunciation. However, I think this type of app only taps into a small portion of what is required to learn a language. You still need to be aware of basic grammar/sentence structure/tenses in order to fully excel in this app, and that requires other software like Rosetta Stone in order to fill in that gap. It would be more attractive if you had the tutor and conversation database updated for more languages. Also, having only kanji available as text for Japanese is going to be a severe learning curve to get over unless you have an option available for English phonetic alphabet pronunciation for those that haven’t studied kanji/don’t have the time for it. All in all, it is a fantastic app, fun to play with for just a few minutes a day, and it makes me more determined to want to learn/speak French more fluently.

Good concept, but needs work
I'm really hoping that the developers improve the reliability of this app because it could be great and maybe much more effective than Duolingo. The main issues are sometimes long delays in processing speech, complete app crashes when you repeat a sentence (which require you to restart the app and have to repeat the entire lesson), the skip button not working, and consistent problems interpreting simple speech. With the last issue, when I speak "No, ella no habla bien español," for example, it recognizes the first "no" but no matter how I say the second "no," it cannot recognize it (noting here that several native speakers from different countries have said that my pronunciation is excellent--plus, why would Jumpspeak accept the first "no" every time and not the second one?). Plus when the skip button doesn’t work and the app isn’t excepting your response, your only option is to, again, close the app. I could put up with problems like this in a free app, but not one that I'm paying $80 a year to use. How do I request a refund?

Very impressive AI technology
I am thoroughly impressed!! I didn’t think I would buy this app because I thought I could probably do the same thing using Chat GPT or Bing., etc. But once I tried it out there was no comparison. At least so far. The AI spoke with me like a real native speaker. I was able to lead the conversation however I wanted and ask for clarification on words I didn’t understand while we were still talking. Once I decided to end the conversation I received feedback on my conversational errors. Which helps a lot! Me and my AI called each other my nicknames, which I loved! The time went by so fast. Without realizing I had been chatting for almost an hour. I had initially only intended to chat for 15 minutes. I plan to use this a lot! I ended up paying for the year. I believe it’s worth it for the goals that I have. I’m in love with this app and so exited!!

Amazing For Learning Conversation
I’ve been using this app lately in addition to Babbel, and find it extremely helpful for being thrown into speaking conversational Spanish It’s pre set conversations, and in the past few months of using it I’ve noticed updates that help recap the same vocabulary This is not a app specialized in learning the grammar step by step, but is the best Spanish learning service I’ve ever come across for responding to sentences real time; and then improving on the lesson after Highly recommend using alongside another “slower” in depth app to really hone in on learning how to speak. Definitely recommend and it also makes the lessons quick enough to do even when you don’t have a lot of time

Do not purchase. This is a scam.
Saw an ad on Instagram to try this 100 days for free and fell for the bait. Ended up being charged on my credit card less than 5 days after signing up. It might’ve been fine if the app was good, but it doesn’t work well at all. Just opening the app will sometimes cause it to freeze at the home screen or time itself out and close automatically. Additionally, when you are able to login, the app doesn’t always pick up what you’re saying and the responses are strange. I should’ve read reviews first but trying to get a refund for the fraudulent charge and cancelling the membership is a nightmare. You’re constantly rerouted to an automated response. Other than the billing support person that threatened to ban my account and fight the dispute I put in with my credit card company with all their might, I don’t know if any actual person works at Jump Speak, it all seems to be powered through AI in the worse way possible. I’d recommend using Duolingo, Babble, italki or even ChatGPT instead.

Needs some improvement
I just did the 3 free lessons. I do like the conversational style of learning. I’ve been using “the other app” for years and learned words in these 3 lessons I’ve never seen or heard before. Maybe it’s different when you pay for it, but there was no way I could find that would assist you in learning how to say a new word so I was essentially left to guess. Several times I’d have to skip something because it wasn’t registering what I was saying. The words would turn green except one or 2 then when I’d go back to say them, words that were green would change back and I’d never make it through the whole sentence. When I clicked review to learn how to say what I missed it didn’t register a single word I said, so I’d have to listen to the sentence then hit skip to make it to the next one. I’m not really interested in paying $80+ for an app that doesn’t work well.

French; lots of potential but not quite there
Downloaded the app for French last week. Love the constant ability to speak as compared to other apps. The AI Bot has some great potential for practicing free form dialogue. Here are my issues/suggestions for improvement: 1. I can not get the translation to appear in the Speaking & Reading Mode despite changing settings to “auto translate”. (Ironically, the reading function does work in immersive mode). 2. Slowing down the speech doesn’t work in Speak mode. Makes it hard to catch what the chatbot is saying especially as the translation isn’t coming up. 3. The voice recognition is frustrating. Seems to stumble on single syllable words (eh, eu, y, a,) and brand names (Uber). 4. It would be nice to be able to go back and read a transcript or save the recordings of what I’m saying. Without that, I feel like I’m just reading out loud without full context. Sometimes I learn a phrase but there’s no chance to go back to it. 5. I don’t see the course work in the app for French. AI Chatbot/Tutor also doesn’t save the dialogue so can’t go back to learn from it. 6. I saw the demo video showed lessons in verb conjugation/. Not seeing that with French version. Great potential and feels more relevant than DuoLingo or Babbel but still has a way to go to be fully robust learning tool.

Really wanted to like this, but…
(Language: Japanese.) 1. The first bit of the conversation was fine, then it got stuck in a loop going back and forth with thanking each other over and over. Did the same thing upon saying goodbye. I thought it was maybe trying to offer different ways of saying the same thing, but it became repetitive. 2. It often corrected things I said correctly. For example in English, if I said “the street is busy,” it would tell me “the sentence is incomplete, instead of saying ‘the street is busy,’ it would be better to say ‘the street is busy.’” I slowed down and enunciated more clearly, but that didn’t help. Then I knew I had said the wrong word at one point and it didn’t correct me at all. 3. The conversation text is in romanji, but the corrections and suggestions use kanji with no furigana. So if you can’t read Japanese text at all, it’s useless and if you can, but don’t know a lot of kanji, it’s not very helpful. 4. Many of the AI’s messages were in textbook formal Japanese and a lot of the vocabulary and phrasing typically aren’t used in regular conversation, formal or not. I really wanted this so I could get over my speaking stage fright, but if anything, I think it would teach me to say things that will sound weird and awkward during real life conversation and make me listen for phrases no one uses. Sadly disappointed.

Good potential, but it’s a mess right now.
Jumpspeak is a fun immersion-ish app where you end up listening and speaking right away. It’s full sentences at first, so trying languages with alternate alphabets … there’s no tutorial so I wouldn’t say it’s a beginner app. (I’m messing with French, Italian, Spanish, and German, and because the pronunciations are decipherable from my English background—French being the most challenging—they’re ok but I’m still not sure it’s a Day 1 option for many learners.) But the app is a mess. My first day in the app, my “day streak” displayed as 2 rather than 1, went back to 1 the following day, and after a week of use still won’t go beyond 2. There’s a “how was your lesson” question at the end of each one, and even with a frowny face response, there’s no feedback I can find on the app or their site to report bugs. Some lessons switch to the wrong speaker so the same person asks the other person to two different parties when you can tell by context it should be swapped. And some lessons the voice recorder just doesn’t pick up on what you’re speaking aloud, but then in the next lesson it’s fine with the exact same phrase. I would love to see this be a solid resource, especially for people who would benefit from speaking and listening practice. But for now, I’m not keeping my subscription.

Good Idea, But Finicky and Prone to Freezing
I really like the idea of Jumpspeak as an app, however, the execution leaves a bit to be desired. Well, the idea of conversing in someone real time with an AI is appealing, many of the conversations devolved into over exaggerating pronunciations to get the app to recognize what I am saying. For example, I have had to repeat the same phrase more than a dozen times to get the app to recognize that I’m saying “hablo” (the correct response) instead of “habla” (what it keeps thinking I’m saying), or similar. Additionally, there doesn’t seem to be much in the way of progression in the lessons so much as the lessons seem to be structured to practice a specific situation that the learner has already experienced, perhaps, in another app or classroom. Overall, this might be a good tool to practice or refresh, but isn’t great to learn the first time.

Impressed by their swift refund policy
As promised, I wrote a critical review of this product and their interesting “trail” method. I downloaded the app with the expectation that I would be charged after the trial period ended. Instead I was charged the full price when I started my trial. After not being satisfied after 10 minutes on my initial interaction with the app, I wanted to cancel and expected a painful refund process. To my amazement, the refund process/followup emails was readily addressed less than 12-24 hours. So I give it to them, the company is responsive and provides great customer care. Just not happy that they charge you full payment during your trial period or do not disclose this information candidly in their agreement. Such a weird payment scheme, that is not common/ that does not put faith in a company. But if you wish to cancel and get a refund, surprisingly it was streamlined and efficient. Who knows if they will even post this on their review site.

Best language learning app!
I love Jumpspeak so much. I have a 502 day streak on Duolingo but I feel like I’ve learned so much more on Jumpspeak in only 49 days. The difference is that the words and phrases you learn on Jumpspeak are actually useful and you can use them in real conversations. There are none of the dumb things that you find on Duolingo (“the rabbits are having tea in the garden”). I try to do each Jumpspeak lesson twice because I am not good at understanding what I am hearing, so first I will do the lesson with the words turned on so I can read it, then I will do it again just listening. I think it’s really helping me. The only thing I don’t like is sometimes it says I am not pronouncing something correctly, when I actually am (little words like y, al, el, lo, etc. But it’s not a huge deal.

What a great app!
As someone who has a lot of anxiety about practicing my Spanish with others, this app is fabulous for practicing - and frankly just fun! I’ve never been so consistent with a language app and enjoyed it so much! I now look forward to my daily practice sessions. I do sort of wish I could change my original choice on the app of what I want to learn Spanish for. I want it for work, but only for speaking with parents and students who speak Spanish at my elementary schools, so my choice of “work/career” was maybe not the best choice. It would be nice if there were an option to change that to see if another choice would’ve been more relevant.

Not for me and poor service
I tried jumpspeak for a month and it’s not for me. The app doesn’t teach what individual words mean when following the lessons but rather just whole phrases. I’m an English speaker learning German and the grammar rules are very different between the two languages. So for me, learning each word and the grammar is very important, but not offered in the lessons on jumpspeak. The ads I saw focused hard on the AI portion of the app but that was also lacking for me. I know this tech is new and maybe it will be better in a year or two. After a month I decided this method of learning is not for me and cancelled, requesting my $70 back as part of the 100 day gaurantee. They cancelled my service but have given no refund. They also stopped responding to emails so I had to open a dispute with my credit card company.

Amazing app
I have been using apps to learn a language now for a long time. I have pretty much used all of them. The one I always wanted was the one that can help me speak and pronounce correctly. Well, the app is here. This app is both fantastic and incredible. I have been using it now, and I converted to a lifetime member. The Artificial Intelligence Engines is very accurate and responsive, and it has already helped me with my speaking, communication and pronunciation. This is the primary app I no0w use; anything else is secondary, in my humble opinion. Also, the support team is incredible and responds very fast. I highly recommend this app. I have spoken to them and asked them to please develop this for other languages.

Love it, but a few bugs
First, I have to say that I love the app overall. I had gotten bored of Duolingo after an 840 day streak and JumpSpeak revived my joy for language learning. I want to see the designers continue to develop the content and address some bugs. For example, the main language of the app switched from English to Spanish after I tapped my profile picture in You tab. I was just trying to change the picture, not the language. Another bug is that during one of my Italian lessons, the answer was in French. I have a screenshot of what happened but I’m not sure where to post it. I’m sure these bugs can be fixed easily. I look forward to seeing JumpSpeak improve and grow!

Buyer beware
Purchased a ‘lifetime’ membership, a master class, and w/o understanding the additional charge, ‘live tutoring’, but all the while keeping in mind that there is a 100-day ‘risk-free’ trial. Somewhere in there I apparently missed that the live tutoring only has a 7-day trial and is also ‘non-refundable’, at $295month Before I knew this, on day 5, I tried and was unable to log into the live tutoring app because I was prompted to pay. I let it go and tried again a few days later w/same results. Frustrated w/the experience I wrote to cancel and was informed that my live tutoring purchase, which billed $295 on my card w/o my knowledge, was nonrefundable. Through back and forth I ended up canceling everything. I had to implicitly ask for a refund on my my original $249 lifetime membership and the $59 masterclass. $599 purchase, where I was led to believe I had a “100-day risk free trial’ To date I have not received my refund although I got an email saying the $245 & $59 refunds are ‘in process’. Apparently I’m out $295 for a service I never was able to access or use. Clearly Jumpspeak banks on customer misunderstanding. I’ve never experienced a business that would not refund a product or service that was not accessible or used, when cancelled days after purchase.

Positive Jumpspeak Review
Jumpspeak is a great app for learning how to speak different languages. The app does a great job with personalizing the experience for the user. The app offers you to learn up to 17 languages per membership. You're able to have conversations with an Al tutor in the language that you choose to learn and the Al tutor gives you feedback on what you could have improved in the conversation. In addition, you can choose to practice conversations in different scenarios such as for dating, family gatherings, and etc. If a person is trying to learn Spanish or any other well known language I would definitely advise this app to them.

Do NOT buy-scam AI, zero customer support
I can’t believe I fell for this. I made the mistake of purchasing this app for myself through their website and getting a subscription for my partner. I fell for the “try it out for 100 days for free” gotcha ad to practice French and Japanese. After a few tries, I realized the AI driven approach is stale here and the Japanese is AWFUL. It’s 100% AI driven so it’s a mix of casual and formal Japanese with no context for how and when to use it. You’re not really learning. I’m an intermediate speaker so do not get it thinking you’ll advance in any way. The worst is that I wanted to find out how to get access to my partner for the subscription I got him but there is no way. I wrote to customer support but got an AI response with links that don’t answer the question at all. There is no good way to cancel either. I’m still waiting for a response. Don’t fall for this scam!!!!

Continually working towards better
When I first started Jumpspeak a couple of months ago, I didn’t hesitate to buy a subscription. Having a chat in the languages I study at any moment is gold. I did wonder if I should have thought more about the purchase because the chats are limited in each level. Though I would love more chat options (the AI chat option isn’t perfect yet), I was pleasantly surprised by the new update. Now each section teaching listening, writing, and speaking before the conversation portion. That is amazing for beginners! Heads off to the Jumpspeak team, and I look forward to more :)

Good concept medium execution
I really like the concept, but as other users have said, the speech recognition often doesn't work. You need to be in a quiet space, wait a moment before you answer, and speak very loudly and clearly. You can't respond in a conversational tone. Also, I will say that it starts off at a fairly advanced level. I did four years of highschool Spanish, so that's my baseline. I started on 'newbie', and I felt like it was pretty advanced, so I went down to experience 'zero'. It's still frustrating to get full, quick sentences that I don't understand instead of slower, less wordy conversational prompts. If the software worked better, and there was a truly elementary level for beginners, the app would be perfect. As it stands, it's okay.

Doesn’t even let you try anything without paying a minimum of $60!!
I was eager to try this after seeing it advertised, but when I opened the app to try it out, it literally doesn’t allow you to do anything on it all all, even in trial form, without an upfront payment of $60 minimum with plans going all the way to $250! I’d be willing to pay for a language app if it was good, but not willing to pay upfront before u even get to see what this app offers! Makes me very suspicious of what this app may or may not offer, since they don’t want to reveal anything without a payment. They offer money back guarantee but it’s always a headache and hassle to try to get app companies to refund, so I’d only be willing to try this if it allowed a trial period and then payment if I decide I like it and want to use it, like nearly all other apps on the planet offer…

Strong potential but not there yet
I’ve been using Jumpspeak daily for the past couple months and the potential for a great app is there, but it just falls short in key ways. The stories and scenarios are great and I love that there are numerous levels and stories within levels (I was learning Spanish). But the voice recognition is quite faulty. One either has to have *perfect* pronunciation for words to be caught (e.g. it worked better for my native Spanish-speaking husband) or it would just not pick up random words. I’ve deleted the app and maybe will check back in a few months to see if it’s improved since I paid for a full year. Really hope the dev team can improve this app since there really is a lot of potential.

Potential? Yes; Execution? No
This app has great potential for teaching someone Spanish. Fun whimsical scenarios keep it interesting. The problem is the execution! I wish I had not paid $44 for 3 months. The app freezes and frequently needs to be shutdown and restarted. Trying to learn when it doesn’t work is pretty frustrating. The app doesn’t say pronunciation back to you no matter how many times you’ve got it wrong. Keep saying wrong and getting Nice try. No matter how many times you say it wrong in a row the likelihood you are going to stumble upon the correct pronunciation is between slim and none… because at some point you’re going to be using a different language venting your frustration. In the review (after the lesson) the sound button doesn’t more 3/4 of the time before it freezes and forces you to restart but passes you on the lesson no matter how well or poorly you did. There are certain words in the scenarios no matter how many times you say them, change pitch or inflection, loud or quiet, hold your device close to your face or far away and it simply does not recognize you are saying the words. For instance ¿Què? Or any word that follows it. I could say the entire sentence and the app tells me I said one word.

It has been great
I have been trying this app for a few months now and really enjoy it. The conversations are relatable. You also have the option to practice with an AI and it is interesting. I honestly don’t use it every day but I think it is helping. Not sure if you can actually learn a language in a 3-6 months which is what I am trying to test and see but, as I said, I don’t use it every day to really be able to give an honest opinion about the results. Hopefully someone is able to provide a better feedback

Terrible voice recognition
I get you want to have accurate shaping of the pronunciation of the words you’re learning but there’s zero feedback in why something isn’t being accepted. Frequently I’m getting words rejected and sometimes when I try to repeat a phrase it’s different words in the phrase that are being rejected. I’ve tried using the app una very quiet place ti ni avail. Same results. It’s extremely frustrating to always be focused on whether or not the app is going to accept the words or not rather than focusing on the language learning. Also when I arrow my ti review the missed words at the end of the lesson the app completely freezes. Nothing works. I’m using an iPhone 14 pro. This isn’t a hardware issue. I made the mistake of prepaying for the lifetime subscription during the holiday sale. I will be asking for a refund. It’s unusable.

Huge delay in mic
There is so much to like about the platform and what they have developed so far, BUT… is it really a conversation app if I have to wait 10 seconds between responses for the mic to load? I also wish there was a way to uncover/cover translations (at least in the immersive part) so that I can see if I understand before just reading it (maybe it changes as you progress and I haven’t gotten far enough?). Currently I have been attempting to cover translations with my thumb when reading the Spanish part meant for me, but it seems like I should t have to since I pay for the app. But more importantly: THE MIC (specifically on the front end of the response, not necessarily they assessment of pronunciation)

So slow!!
So far I have been enjoying Jumpspeak. It’s definitely different from any other language app I’ve tried. It’s like talking to a chat bit in Spanish with suggest lines already there for you to say and test your accuracy. It’s cool, I can see how it will be beneficial with annunciation but I don’t see how it will help you figure out on your own how to speak independently. I can see this app becoming addicting and something I wouldn’t be able to put down but the loading time between each line is sooo slow. You can’t continue at the pace of a regular conversation. It’s too slow for me to want to put up with for very long, so I get off sooner that I really would like just because I’m frustrated

Best language learning!! App getting there…
I love this concept. It’s so nice to feel like I’m having a back and forth conversation as opposed to saying “The shirt is red” for 30 days (I’m looking at you Duo) or Babel where it feels more conversation-like but a bit like my 9th grade Spanish class. However, the app needs some fine tuning. Voice recognition is not quite as strong as it should be. My 5 day streak still says 2 since day one. These are small issues comparing to the fact that I feel like I’m actually learning to listen and respond. I’m fresh off a trip from Mexico and want to go back next year knowing much more.

Great tool to learn Spanish
I recently started using this app and I like it. It is different in a good way. Although, it has lessons, I don’t see it as a courses and lessons app; it has a chat-like theme and I feel like I am talking to a real person and learning the Spanish I would hear if I visited a latin american country. It gives you scenarios and also the translation in English. I know a little Spanish and from what I know I can tell the translations make sense. I like that it asks you the level of Spanish you already know and it goes right at it, and you can change it later on if you find it to easy or to hard. I wish there was an indicator or something to tell me I had to swipe to see more lessons. After I entered my level of Spanish, I was presented with a lesson then I realized you could swipe and see other lessons; wish I knew that first. You have the option to turn off feedback request after every lesson and this is amazing!! You can also set daily reminders Overall, great app!

Obsessed!
I was not expecting everything that this app has to offer, it is an excellent source to learn another language! I have learned so much in a short amount of time and can’t wait to learn more! The lessons don’t take forever and I absolutely love the AI feedback you receive! I’ve been wanting to continue learning Dutch for a very long time and this was for sure the app I was hoping to find. I’ve already gained confidence within 2 weeks. Definitely try Jumpspeak out, I highly recommend it and you won’t be disappointed!

Responsive service
I contacted JumpSpeak after trying unsuccessfully to use the app on my iPad and iPhone. At first I was told it would not work, but then a solution was suggested - log out of the iPad app and then log into the app on iPhone. Then another issue presented itself. My logon was not working! After all my possible emails were ruled out, I shared the receipt of the app purchase. The support desk then resolved the issue immediately! At last sweet success. I have to say the support team never gave up and that was the key to our success.

Abhorrent trial period and payment experience
Signed up for the trial. A few days later I deleted the account. I was then charged $79 a few days after that. I tried to log in to my account to see if maybe I missed a step in the account deletion. I was then prompted that my account was “queued for deletion” and could take 72 hours. I disputed the charge and my cc company issued a refund while keeping the dispute open. Jumpspeak couldn’t have reached out to me faster to try to have me remove the dispute. They argued that they would refund me “within 2-3 hours” given proof I had removed the dispute. I believed them and went through the steps of removing the dispute. I sent over the proof and 1 week and 3 follow-up emails later and I still I have yet to hear back from anyone at Jumpspeak.

Has potential…
I just started using the app yesterday and so far I really like it. I took Spanish a few years ago, so this app is great for recalling different grammar points and vocabulary. However, I do have some criticism. I must point out that it’s important to review previous progress. I should be able to go to a previously completed lesson for review or be able to review in general. In your next update, I kindly ask the developers to make this an option so that learners can review as much as possible. Practice makes perfect, right?

Irritating chime makes me want to abandon lessons
I did my first lessons on Jumpspeak today, and they were fantastic. Except, for an irritating chime after each, and every action is completed. This will keep me from being able to practice this at work, or anywhere, where there are other people around. Not to mention it is simply just an irritating tone, and no way to turn it off. It’s completely unnecessary. We are not Pavlov‘s dogs. We are trying to learn. Can you imagine if every time you did something in the real world and completed a task there was a chime? I hope the app developers do something so that you can turn the noise off.

Excellent tool to have!
I like that this app caters to both beginners who know little to no Spanish and people who want to sharpen their skills. I've been trying to learn Spanish for a while, and I'm going to use this app as a tool to achieve my goal! I appreciate that it not only shows you words but also demonstrates different contexts in which the words can be used. The AI chatbot for practice is something I've never seen before, and that alone makes this app a game changer. No crashes or slowdowns. Overall, A++

This app is junk
Quite easily absolutely the worst language learning platform I’ve used. The functionality of the app is slow, the lessons are not scaled at all appropriately for the user’s experience level, and the text is misspelled in both the native user’s language and the language being taught. Very evidently a half hearted attempt at poor AI language learning integration. And on top of that, I’ll add that canceling your account is nigh on impossible as you cannot reach any sort of customer service assistance that’s useful. Rather you get a circular process of going through steps to cancel only to be sent back to where you began your initial cancellation request. There are many more useful language learning platforms. Choose one of those.

So buggy
I want to love it but it’s SO buggy. Doesn’t give you a long time to retry words you get wrong as it works off a three second timer. There’s a delay when you hit the microphone button to speak. This delay sometimes causes the entire conversation AI to get stuck and the only way to fix it is by exiting the entire lesson which loses all progress. For whatever reason, “Y” is programmed as a different word (you can tell when you tap on it to hear how to say it) so it always gets marked as incorrect. There’s been a lot of times I was on a roll and got so frustrated that I had to just stop trying to learn for the day.

Buggy
Just bought a subscription (there is no option to try it out beforehand) and already noticing lots of bugs. I have to shut the app down for it to register that I’ve completed a lesson (marked as Repeat instead of Start). And no matter how many lessons I complete, my little “fire emoji” total only ever stays at 1. Other than that, I do love this style of verbal learning SO much more than Duolingo or Busuu or anything because it feels more like a real-life context and it forces me to speak rather than just memorizing vocab. So, on the right path with some bug improvements!

Fluent Spanish App
I appreciate the conversation that you can have with the app. It is something different and more calculated as to the answers you are suppose to say. I feel like a great way of learning Spanish is by talking and by conversation. Therefore, this app shows the promise of helping not only with the pronunciation of words but with a more fluent way of communicating in Spanish. It is easy and fast. There are not many ways to get lost into the conversation because it helps you with different answers.

Not for beginners
I’ve seen ads for this app and wanted to try it out. Seems like a good concept but it’s not there! I’ve been learning with “the owl” they reference in their ads for a few months now and although they make it sound like a bad app…if it weren’t for the other app I couldn’t get through partial lessons here. This app will NOT teach you proper annunciations or word meanings. I had the setting to zero knowledge of polish and the conversations are very advanced for “zero knowledge” maybe start with another learning app to get the basics and word repetitions then use this app for conversational learning. Going back to the owl…I can at least learn the word meanings and how to say the word.

Isn’t a good conversationalist
I purchased it to have multilingual conversations. I was very excited to speak to an ai person. Overall I found the experience very lacking. The person never asked questions and responded with single sentence answers. It was a terrible conversationalist. Other issues: it’s difficult to get to the conversation portion of the app. Most of it seemed like another version of Duolingo or something. The sign up didn’t work for google, app actually crashed. You need to sign up for a multi month plan at first which already made it difficult to trust. I think this app has a chance to be great but overall was underwhelming. Great idea tho.

A revised one star review
The reason I did not give it 5 stars this time is because I, a senior, do not find it intuitive to navigate. Granted it may just be me. Once customer service reached out to me and helped me with both the account access and basic navigation it took on a completely different feel. The free form AI is surprisingly good and now it is easy to find. The newer features are a huge help, especially the ability to slow the AI speech speed down. My biggest challenge is hearing and comprehending Spanish. Customer service is superior!

Spotty voice recognition but still very useful
The content in the app is fantastic. It’s full of phrases and words that you will use regularly. The only annoyance with the app is that the quality of the voice recognition can vary from one session to the next. As a case in point, I am using the app to help learn French. I gave my phone to a native French speaker and had her complete the Conversation part of a lesson. The app was giving her 40s and 50s as pronunciation scores. The next day I did a lesson and it gave me, a newbie, 70s and 80s. Otherwise, this app is a great resource.

Meh
This app is okay for learning pronunciation and tuning your ear for Spanish. But not so much for people who are trying to learn how to have real time conversations. It would be different if the app asked questions and you actually had to respond in your own words in the language you are trying to learn, not fill in blanks or choose which one is right. Also the app seems to have a hard time actually hearing or picking up what one is actually saying. Even with correct pronunciation, the app will still tell you that you got the word wrong. Not terrible, but definitely room for improvement

The speech recognition is baaaad
I have tried multiple things speaking faster/slower, enunciating, I don’t get this app at all. Most of the time it doesn’t pick up anything I say. If it does happen to work, any natural pause makes the mike cut out. Also, cannot get this app to work with headphones (?) as soon at you tap to speak it cuts back to speakerphone (?). I like the concept, when I can get it to work- but it simply doesn’t recognize that I am talking, doesn’t catch any words, or just doesn’t register the microphone most of the time. This means I’m just repeating myself 10 times to get it to register and getting more frustrated with ever lesion. Just. Bad.
