Kangarootime is a well made app with outstanding support to back it up. Using Kangarootime makes you feel like you’re right there with your child. Instead of a one size fits all app, there are many options and choices to accommodate the different types of families that have become the norm. One of the best things about Kangarootime is their support. When installing the app I had a few problems that I couldn’t resolve, so I sent an email to their support team. Before I could close my email app, I received a reply from Kelly. She was incredibly nice, patient, knowledgeable and fast! She solved my problem immediately and over the next 2 days helped me fine tune the app and explained everything I asked her about. I have not received this level of support in a long time. I didn’t think it even existed anymore! When using an app that is helping families connect with their children’s daycare experience, efficient and friendly support is invaluable. I feel very happy with the switch to Kangarootime. The extended features are great, but what really makes me feel comfortable with the app is the excellent support. It says that this company cares about the kids and families they are helping to stay connected. Thank you!
The app is a great way to see what my child did throughout the day. We love seeing the pictures and comments the teachers leave. I wish we could write comments back to the teachers. Maybe that is a feature not turned on by our center or maybe it is something you can look into for the next enhancement.
This app is just okay. My number one peeve about this app is you do not get push notifications on anything except messages. As a working mom who is constantly in meetings, I love to be able to look down at my phone briefly and see my child just had a snack, or is taking a nap. Instead, I have to go into the app, refresh the feed, just to see if there are any new updates. Time consuming and sometimes a waste if there are no new notifications. Also, the pictures take a really long time to load. Other parents have mentioned they have this issue as well. There does not seem to be a video feature either. Our school was on a different app before and our teachers would record singing happy birthday or the kids dancing to music. That is not an option any longer. The customer service is great. We have reached out a few times because of an issue with an assigned guardian not being able to log in. Customer service had it resolved that same day. The end of day email does the job. It provides a PDF of the child’s day in review. How long they slept, the pictures of the day, etc. If there are any improvements to that it would be to include the basics in the body of the email instead of just the PDF (last diaper or potty time, last feeding, how long they slept). Overall, I think this app has some areas of improvement that would make the parent functionality much easier and user friendly.
This app is pretty basic in its options for parents. For example, while we can email/message administrators, it would be nice if there were pictures so we as parents can make sure we are messaging the right person. Another example is payment options. It would be great if we could select different options to select from like; seasonal fees, regular payment, payment for T shirts, and various fees that would be calculated automatically. This will help us as parents not to figure out the total amount, hoping that we calculated correctly. Or the options will allow to tell facilities what we are paying for. It would be nice to either have prices along with options and we can check the boxes for what we need to pay. Also under payment features, it would be nice if there was a comment / message box that we as paying parents could make comments about payment concerns, instead of emailing a person that we may not know. The app is ok to use but could be Soooooo much better by looking at the features that I suggested. Thanks
The app does not compliment broken families, which are prevalent in our societies today. They cannot split payments between co-parents effectively and accurately. The only way to make payments per child is in person with cash, which makes it very difficult to keep track of not only my payments, but the statements and receipts to write off at the end of the year. They claim activities are being done for before/after school program, but the playground is outdated and all activities are indoor. All snacks given have a lot of sugar and are not health conscious. They is rarely a worker at the front desk when I am there. The regional director cares more about the staff than the parents and does not respond to concerns raised by parents efficiently or in a timely manner.
I work at the daycare and on our end it tells us the exact times the kids got things done at but on the parents side it say about 1 hour ago, at the end of the day after they get signed out it sends you the pdf with the exact times but if you have to keep track of the eating and the times they ate it’s very hard to if you see “about 2 hours ago” and in reality it was an hour and 20 minutes ago. It be more helpful if it said at 323 pm this teacher gave this child 4 oz bottle this child ate 4oz during this feeding.
The app is easy to use, I love that I can quickly reach out to the teachers for admin directly from the app without going into another place to conduct contact. The check in and out is quick, the ability to see what my child is doing in the day with pictures and has a complete break down for his day upon check out is very helpful. There isn’t anything missed between child and parent. The only reason I gave 4 stars was because sometimes it can be a bit glitchy with checking in or out and just not work. Overall I’m pleased with the simplicity of it.
The app is great except for two things. 1) it loads SO slow. No matter where I am or on Wi-Fi or not. And the biggest issue is 2) the app barely ever pushes a notification thru. I have to go in and manually refresh. This is a major issue. Yesterday I got a push notification about an email from the teacher that just mentioned her upcoming vacation time… HOURS later I missed her 4:17pm emergency email to come pick up your child due to NJ air quality issue and that they were closing the school. PARENTS SHOULDNT BE MISSING EMERGENCY/IMPORTANT NOTIFICATIONS ABOUT THEIR CHILDREN. fix it please.
The overall app is great! My biggest complaint is with the messages feature. I want to be able to easily delete messages that I no longer need and there does not appear to be a way to do this. I cannot figure out a way to delete messages at all from the app and even on the desktop version it appears the only way to delete messages is by clicking through one by one. With this change, it would definitely be a 5 star app for me!
Not impressed with this app at all. Pictures can take up to several minutes to load - if they load at all - when every other app on my phone is functioning just fine at top speed. Most days the pictures uploaded by our teachers just show up as a gray square or after several minutes of showing the loading icon, it just stops and leaves you with a white screen. I really wish our school would switch to something else. Two stars for the fact that it does work well for paying bills.
First time getting my child into a child care service, this app really made a difference on my end of things as far as staying updated with my child’s day to day activity. The first day off daycare is a hard day for parents, with this app it really helped ease my mind and is quick and easy to use even during work. LOVE this app.
This is my daughters first day away from us ever she is almost 3 and this app is open all day so far no updates on the app but it’s only been 3 hours hoping for a picture or a update soon I feel nervous about it not updating so I can make sure she’s ok but I’m sure she’s in good hands but I would like maybe every two hours or so updates other than that it’s great. Just a over protective dad
Thanks for creating a user friendly, easy and convenient way to interact with the daycare. The app always works well on iPhone. One request is a ‘Next’ button to scroll through pictures instead of going back to album and choosing the next picture.
This is such a well thought out application! No glitches so far, and no complaints from me. The tidbits of info about my toddlers activity throughout the day are perfect to keep me connected and up to date with his progress. I really like this application and all its useful tools!
It’s okay but I don’t like it how I can’t change what type of payment to make like weekly, biweekly, or monthly. My income has changed since I have joined and I can’t change it at all. It also doesn’t even give us a chance to catch up on payments before the give other payment on top of that. I do like it I see my child report but I also don’t see notifications when things happen. Which that part could be me . lol
This app is not user friendly, as a parent who is consistently looking for an update. It does not state the time things happened I.e. baby slept from 1 pm to 2 pm, it will just say how many hours ago. The app kicks you off even if you stay logged in on one device. As a parent who talks with staff using the Kangarootime “app” the only have a desktop version and the company said it would work best with a generic tablet that it takes several minutes to open a single page or upload a single picture.
This app is just ok. I’ve used other childcare apps that I’ve liked way more. Pros: Everything is in one place, including statements/payments. Cons: I do not receive notifications when updates or pictures are posted (this is the worst aspect of the app, as I sometimes miss important updates!), images are slow to load, missing features that other apps has, such as an alert/notification when diapers or wipes are needed.

The reports are important to me because it’s my grandchild who is not quite two years old and the reports speaks for him and it’s absolutely comforting to be connected with how he is doing throughout his entire day. He seems happy and that warms my heart.
I love being able to see what’s going on throughout our child’s day, I just wish I didn’t have to refresh to see new posts or pictures etc. It seems the only push notification options out for messages. If that was fixed…5 stars.
Love that I get to see updates on my baby!! Amazing app!!! I do however need help, I’m trying to log into it and it just keeps saying API error, I don’t know what that means, and I tried changing my password and that didn’t work. I called the support line and left a message but I was just seeing if I could get help faster this way.
Love the design of this app but I am often being kicked out. Would also love if the parents can like photos. Only other thing is that there’s an assumption that a <2 yr old would drink milk in the morning when my son doesn’t drink milk - he eats solid food. So I have to skip that part of the checkin. Otherwise, I’m very happy with having the breakdown of the activities
I have an iphone 6s. This app is worse than their other app it is suppose to replace. It feels like this company lacks functional testing for devices. I cant request a checkin or checkout for my child. It just does not work. App crashes when viewing pictures. Simple thing to test. Instead of making their other app incrementally better they chose to release another new app with more bugs. Disappointed that our daycare chose this platform and forcing me into a poor product.
I have an iPhone 7. I supposedly have notifications turned on but do not receive them with this app. My childcare center started with brightwheel and it was a much better app, the feed was better, notifications and messaging worked well, and it was easy and nice to use. This app is terrible in comparison, it barely works. I do not recommend it at all. It feels like it was designed for a computer and never optimized to mobile. Don’t select this if you are a care provider, your customers will hate it!
I love country side child care. My daughter abstloves everyone here and is doing so well. Her talking has gotten 100 times better just since starting. I would t change her daycare for anything. Everyone here is so nice and so welcoming too. Best daycare around. I love you all so much thank you for being here ❤️❤️❤️
I recently made one payment with this app. I read everything very carefully and, while I did select the option to save my card as a default payment method, I did not give authorization for anything to be automatically charged to my card. The next day, I discovered that this app had charged an additional $240 to my card without my permission. Additionally, if you don’t have an unpaid invoice pending, there is no way to change anything related to payment in the app. I’m pretty sure this is a violation of federal law.
I would like to still be able to enter when baby ate last, etc. after he has been checked in. Sometimes the staff beats me to it and then none of that info can be entered after the fact. Otherwise, this app is super nice and I really like being able to see how he is doing throughout the day.
It's a nice feeling that your children are being taken care for with announcements, posts, pictures and more. It's the care and wellbeing that matters most and this app helps provide this information to the families. Peace of mind and love.
Love that you can add timestamps to the activity feed. Thank you!! I wish I could have more ability to customize notifications. I would like nap notifications for example, as right now I’m sitting in my car in the daycare parking lot, refreshing over and over because my little one is napping.
Too many technical issues. Wast of time having to add your info multiple times. The system holds the info but does not recognize it. The system dates and times are inaccurate for documentation purposes. Very aggravated trying to use this app. Having to take additional time to contact the school to figure out another way to pay for child care.. in the mean time I’m racking up late fees because the system is not capable of doing what it was disowned for.....
The app is easy to use. We’re glad our daughter’s daycare switched to a digital platform, as it’s easier to check her in/out and communication with the teachers and staff is much smoother. Only issue I see is the messages are not in listed with the most recent at the top, so that’s what’s inconvenient with the app.
My son had been having a hard time with drop off! And it stresses me out to no end. But through this app his teacher sends me pictures through out the day that helps relieve all my stress! I love this app and The Children’s Center!
I’ve enjoyed the simplicity of this app to keep me updated on my child. However, the app crashes more often than not upon being opened. I’d say 7 out of 10 times it crashes. The photos feature is also buggy. Otherwise it’s a decent app that gets the job done!
This one particular day I picked up my child and I noticed that his nose nor face was cleaned. That very same day, as I’m in the classroom to pick up my child a staff member brought in a group of kids. I did not like the way how she talked to them (demanding and The elevation of the voice) when she wanted them to take their coats off and hang them up.
I really like the checkin and all the updates. I would love it if you could fill out s child’s likes/dislikes, food info, comforts, etc. Maybe even important tidbits.
I love this app because it keeps me updated on my child’s daily activities at school however, the I cannot pull up my messages on the app. Sometimes I get the message notifications and other times I don’t. When I go into the messages it constantly says “no messages found” even after refreshing.
1) should be able to schedule your child being gone for more than 1 day at a time. Example going on vacation for a week. 2) it would be nice to see what teacher/care giver was assigned to your child’s room that way you know who to message when you have a question. 3) be able to like photos

My Granddaughter has been learning, growing blossoming, since they first opened there doors 2 years ago. With the highest standards and the most amazing loving staff and teachers, we would never be anywhere else....

I have to download and keep up with the older version and this one, as the newer version has attachments I need, but the older one is where all content is stored. Please migrate to one version only! Also, in the activity feed, there is a typo: it is “your activity feed...” not “you’re”.
App could use a polishing to adhere to Apples more recent UI guidelines. Navigating and viewing pictures can be clunky at times. Not a bad app, not a great one. It’s nice that you can pay invoices and check on your baby through it.
The app assumes that every family is a nuclear family. This is not set up for families like mine. It’s really sad that in 2021, the assumption is that there are no divorced parents. The app only allows one parent to be the admin. There is no payment options for parents who are assigned a percentage of child care costs. I would rate this app a zero until the makers can fix this problem.
I like the app but the number dials for hour and minutes are missing the actual numbers. This makes it really hard to enter the last feeding time and diaper change. Therefore, I have to give this app a low grade until they patch this bug. Working parents do not have time to check their children in when they have priorities like getting to work!!! Please fix ASAP as it’s annoying. Thank you!
I love the design and layout of the app. It’s easy to navigate. However, it takes a long time to load photos.l and it’s difficult to zoom. I have to manually refresh for messages.
App works well and is fairly efficient for what is needed. One complaint is the scrolling feature for entering time and amounts. It’s terrible to use, and often changes on its own before you can submit.
