Not working properly

Since the app changed I have been having problems with it. It freezes at least once every day. Very annoying as I have to exit and come back in. Never had this problem before. I also don’t like the ads.

What Happened…

I have been an e-subscriber since moving away in 2020. Until about a month ago, it was a great way to keep updated with my Kitsap ties including families, schools, and the community that I spent 40 years in. However, recently the whole app has changed. I now have ads galore that I have to click to get rid of which since I pay for a monthly subscription I should not have to deal with. I enjoy looking at the paper as it were s paper copy in front of me, turning the pages and such. It is still there, however it is jumpy and a lot smaller. I don’t like this new app. Why has it changed?

Clunky but serviceable

This newspaper looks like it is trying to maintain the look of a traditional newspaper while offering digital abilities. Unfortunately the results are not intuitive or user friendly. I still enjoy reading the news, even with the many ads, but am not sure if I will keep it after my intro offer.

Great addition to my news reading

I love reading the local stories.....even tho I live in Sequim the Kitsap Sun is a great addition to my local news reading. I especially like the stories about the naval port.

Good content

New to the area, right balance of local business, local politics, and local sports. News about the new minute clinics was a smart thing to report.

They keep me in touch with everything going on in my community especially with high school sports since I have a child playing varsity soccer for CK High School.

Where's the Sun?

I pay online & the access requires that I need to list all my information before the "news" shows up! It's easier to skip & open up the Seattle Times or New York Times! Oh, I did call the listed phone number that is connected to someplace in another state. That person couldn't locate my account. Help!

Problematic support

I have been unable to resolve several issues dealing with my digital subscription ever since The Sun was taken over by Gannett. I try to access the “my account” link and always get an error message. I can’t get information on my subscription nor how or when I need to review. Very unprofessional.

Appreciate The News Source

I love the Kitsap Sun, the only news source for the Peninsula. My only issue with the app is it seems it doesn't update, the news is old, I have to search for new news. Outside of that, I appreciate we have a news source, the Times and the Tribune ignore Kitsap.

Dislike new version of app

New app is not appreciated at all! Quirky, freezes up. HATE intrusion of ads while I am reading. I paid good money for a subscription, I do not need to be bothered by pop-up ads disturbing my read!! Fix it or bring back the old versions!

Years later, the app is still junk

The kitsap sun is a great paper, but the sports sections of the paper never update. Headlines from 6 years ago! I’ve been reporting this for a few years, no change. And, still no change. Update 5/3/22, still same old articles under the Sounders tab and others.

Update Visa info

Last week they told me I had to put new Visa number in to pay for subscription. Did it last week. Today they said I needed to add new Visa number in...a repeat of last week. Said I needed to change pw to enter Visa info. Did that. Says welcome, but can’t get past part that says need to change pw. Can’t get to part where I can enter New Visa card number.

Hard to navigate and annoying adds

I am a print subscriber for years, why are there adds when I am paying? Why does the flip feature not work? Navigating to hold my print copy is painful! You make it hard to continue my subscription!

Never remembers that I’m a subscriber.

This app worked fine, then suddenly forgot that I have been a longtime subscriber. I can’t figure out how to restore my subscription. I walk through the steps it asks me to and still it never works. I want to support local journalism, but you make it difficult.

Impossible to unsubscribe.

It took a while to get use to the layout but after a few times I like it. A lot of newspapers are going to this type of layout and glad to see the Sun is keeping up with the times.

Too Many Intrusion Ads

Why pay for a subscription and receive ads with time delays that prohibit you from reading the news? Why?

What a hassle

I just want to tap the app, see the front page of the newspaper. This app used to be great. It is no longer user friendly, the cost keeps going up and I have trouble locating other days papers

Needs work

Sizing the pages to my preferred reading size causes pages to jump right or left. The prior app was better, I think. Hopefully they’ll get that sorted.

Website is terrible

Set up vacation hold but papers kept piling up. Tried to fix via website but was consistently running into problems. Even the option to ‘chat’ online didn’t work.

Gannet is terrible

I Love the Kitsap Sun. Gannet is killing it. I pay to subscribe yet it’s almost impossible to maintain access to the online app. My subscriber access to the app is regularly interrupted and its difficult to restore access. Not sure why I pay them anymore.

Don’t subscribe

$1 for 6 months then $10 per month and it’s impossible to unsubscribe without talking to someone on the phone (enjoy the wait).

You can subscribe but when you learn they are biased news source or majority of their articles are uninteresting crap you cannot unsubscribe. I will be reporting them to CAN-SCAM.

Doesn’t crash now, but can’t log in

Once the login info is entered, it just keeps spinning, never completing the login.

App keeps kicking me off despite my subscription. Restore purchase only ends with consistent hourly buffering. Not impressed.

Needs Search Mechanism

Am I just not seeing your search button? I end up going to your Web site to search articles, which is highly annoying. But maybe I somehow missed it? Otherwise, I like the app.
