Decent functionality, but lacking in watched episodes tracking is a bummer

In general, I like the app just fine. Some of the functionality issues I had were either added recently or newly documented in a way that made them obvious and usable. The biggest issue I have is how impossible it is to manage what you’re actively watching. The episodes list in the app doesn’t show any check marks or progress bars and the history is too limited and erases itself regularly. So if I’m binging a show, it’ll kick the last viewed episode of any other series I’m watching off the list in fairly short order. Or, if I have a stretch of a few days where I’m not able to watch anything on KOCOWA due to real life requiring that I come up for air occasionally, the watched list will be erased entirely and then I have no way to find out where I left off if I can’t remember off the top of my head until the next time I can access the site on my desktop. That’s really my biggest frustration. Otherwise, the app functions reliably and well on my phone.

ad problem

I love using this and viki to stream my favorite k dramas i have used this to watch a couple viki is better tho and im only saying this because kocowa has a very bad ad problem. I don’t have the premium subscription so i get ads and since most k dramas are an hour long it’s abou 4-5 ad breaks but the ads are weird if you leave the app you will have to watch 3 ads even if it’s not for an ad break it just makes you every time you open the app and watch something, they will play the same ad over and over one time i opened the app and it played it’s usually 3 ads for me to be able to watch but then it had another ad break because when i had watched it before i stopped where the original ad break was suppose to start if that makes sense anyway i had to watch 6 ad videos in total and they played the exact same ad all 6 videos and then if you get through the ad break and leave the app and come back you can play the show but the ads will play over the show and even if you pause it it’ll still play so you’ll have no choice but to go back in the app and try loading the video up again and of course you’ll have to watch the ads all over again i really do love this app and all the variety of shows they have but the ads make it annoying to use

Best k-drama app I’ve used!

Hello! I love this app! I saw a lot of comments about the ads and to her honest it is kinda annoying but like it’s easy to get over. Im 15 so I don’t really have a way to make money yet and a lot of k-drama apps like to make every k-drama movie they have a plus or a special k-drama. I don’t want to actually tell the app that I’m implying this to but I think you know. In order to get to watch majority of their shows you need a pass to watch. Me being 15 I can’t pay for that and my parents won’t pay for something that won’t entertain all of us as well. While I do have their app I’ve seen some of their movies that are in need of a pass to watch it and on your app it’s free! I kinda laughed at this because they have to pay for those when they could come here and watch it! Im not saying I hate or that I don’t like that app altogether, but I just don’t like the amount of plus and standard movies there are. I’m pretty sure that app is worth the money however in my opinion I will always stick with this app! I want to show my appreciation for this and how grateful I am to be able to find this app! I Love It!❤️❤️

The paid subscription is worth it…

I’m a paid subscriber to KOCOWA for a number of reasons. I appreciate that I can easily cast it to my TV from any device. I cast it from my iPhone to chrome cast with no problems. I also appreciate the access to such a broad array of high quality Korean TV shows. The $6.99 per month is worth it. Plus, I don’t have to see a single ad. The #1 reason why I am a loyal subscriber is the decency used in the English translations. KOCOWA has class and dignity. Korean culture still esteems respect and modesty. When my kids watch with us, we never have to worry about a profane word being displayed on the screen. KOCOWA also is careful to never display vain references to major world religions. You’ll never see translations for “oh my G_d”. You’ll never see the name of Jesus Christ being translated as a cuss word. I only wish Netflix held the same standard. Even the most innocent of Korea phrases, such as “aish”, Netflix finds a way to interpret it with a broad array of 4-letter cuss words. It’s not needed. KOCOWA and the Korean programming they feature prove that high qualify clean and classy entertainment is possible. I love this app! Thank you KOCOWA!

A reoccurring problem that annoys me + others

So every time I watch a drama, there’s gonna be an ad that pops up (obviously) but the ad basically breaks the app. While I’m watching an ad the drama always continues in the background, and when the ad finishes the whole screen is black and I can’t see what’s happening although I hear the drama in the background still going. It really annoys me. And with this problem it leads to another: The ads. The ads are placed WAY too often. When the first problem I talked about happens, I have to to close the app and start it again. But when I do, I have to go back to the drama I was watching, and as I’m trying to skip to where I was, I get ads before I can even do that and I have to wait a full minute for it to finish (which is kinda understandable since it’s the start) after I wait that full minute I finally have time to skip to where I was. You’d think that I wouldn’t have to wait again since I just watched a full minute of ads huh? Well no. I have to wait again. After THAT I can finally watch but ads come like 1 minute later then I just get really annoyed and close the app. (Please fix this. It’s really annoying especially when I’m just trying to enjoy what I’m watching)

Paid Membership - Still Have to Buy

Have a paid monthly, wanted to switch to yearly. Now, I'm doubtful about either. Was going to show someone the benefit of it since it can end the weekend off laughing BUT after choosing a show, being told to BUY. Decided to see what happens if I chose buy, it says I'm a monthly subscriber. It won't even let me buy it. Did the restore purchase, cleared the cache. Submitting a help request now. Next is to delete the app. 1 star for having last week's #runningman episode less than a day after broadcast. Hopefully, I can edit the review if things are resolved. Nov. 22, 2017 Update So, the above was resolved BUT it happened again. Payment cleared early Nov. and still showing that I have to buy when it shows I’m a subscriber. When I tried to cancel the subscription, it says that the subscription will begin in Dec. (since it shows to them that I have my Nov subscription). I’ve been communicating with the horrible customer service & included Print Screens. The rep or whoever says he/ she was telling me to redo everything on a PC. HELLO, it’s clear on the Print Screens attached to my complaint. There’s no other way to attach a file since the customer isn’t given that option on a mobile device. Deleting the app now. Disappointed because like many, we liked watching Running Man, IC & 1N2D.

Is it just me or...?

I have some pretty significant issues with the app on my iPad. The subtitles don’t come on automatically- every episode I watch I have to pause the show, turn off the subtitles, and then turn them back on in order to get them to work. This is annoying enough on its own, but what makes it infinitely more of an issue is that when I then try to go back to rewatch the part that I missed without subtitles, the screen “locks up” and I can no longer get anything to work on the screen. The video will continue to play, but none of the touch features work any longer. I can’t pause, rewind, fast forward, adjust sound, brightness - all those player features (which would be awesome if they worked) no longer function. I have to then close the app completely and start over. This happens anytime I try to use any of the on-screen features. This has been an ongoing issue for many months for me. I assumed it was a bug that would be fixed in time but after so long, I’m starting to wonder if it’s just me. I’ve been using the app since it was first developed and want so badly to like it, but my patience is running out. A service that costs this much to use needs a player that works properly.

Great content, app navigation could be improved

I love the content that is available on this app, which is where the 3 stars rating comes from. The aesthetic of the app is great, but the user experience could be improved. I do not like that I have to scroll through all of the episodes to find the first one instead of being able to easily sort it. The search functionality is quite slow and not always accurate. For example, I searched “Running Man” and while “Running Man” did show up, it was not the first result and “Running Man Classic” was near the very bottom, despite the fact that it was the exact phrase that I searched for. I also do not like that when I am watching something and cast it to my TV, it does not save the progress I made on the episode so I have to manually go find the last episode I watched and scrub through the episode until I find the point that I was last watching. It’s a hassle and enough of an inconvenience that I would most likely not resubscribe, as it takes up too much time when other streaming services do not have this issue.

The search is not intuitive

After dramafever abruptly ended I signed on with Viki and Netflix to watch k drama . Eventually I joined KOCOWA. Honestly I don’t even know if kocowa is a separate entity or if you are part of Viki? Since I paid a subscription with Viki I didn’t feel it was right to pay for kocowa under Viki . I am commenting because I like Kocowa just fine, it offers me a variety of shows that Viki hooks you in with one or two episodes and then ask you to upgrade! I think I am more curious than anything as to why Viki offers Kocowa shows but requires members to pay additional? This is why I subscribe to you guys directly. Your newest update was not as user friendly ( I’m sorry if I am the only one ?) it is not easy to search, a little counter intuitive. Aside from that I am fine with this app. Gives me options of shows to watch. Thanks for taking the time to read this

Love this app!

It works great on my iPad and my Roku for tv viewing. The KOCOWA app actually plays video better than Viki (I have both) and equal quality to Netflix. Internet speed affects apps like these so if there are any issues it’s usually because I have slow internet...but that isn’t the app’s fault. My only complaint is the app doesn’t keep a complete file of the episodes watched. I can’t really watch 2 different dramas at a time because episodes watched will disappear from my watch history. Of course I could always keep a notebook and write everything down...but it would be better if the watch history kept everything instead. This app also doesn’t show you it’s complete library of dramas....it has some listed but that’s not everything they have. You will need to type in the search to see if they have what you’re looking for. Otherwise I have had no problems with this app...it’s great! I subscribe to be able to view everything.

Prefer Viki and miss DramaFever

There’s nothing “free” to watch on this app, with exception of the first two episodes of dramas to hook you in. You have to pay to watch. Unlike on Viki where you can watch some dramas without a paid subscription, with commercials. Don’t get me wrong I don’t mind paying. But it’s hard to decide whether I’d want to subscribe when I can hardly experience what the app has to offer. So I deleted immediately since I’m already paying for Viki and Netflix. This app doesn’t offer anything different. I also watch the shows I can’t get on Viki or Netflix such “Golden Spoon” on sites like Kissasian for free, with no commercials. The only benefit I could possibly gain is being exposed to dramas that aren’t offered on other the two main platforms I use. But since Viki is partnered with Kocowa all the dramas I would have been interested in watching such as “Cheer Up”, “Weak Hero Class 1”, & “Bad Prosecutor” are advertised on both and require payment to watch on both. I may as well keep my subscription all on one app. If I may add, I will say one thing this app has over Viki is the multiple profile option for premium members. I’d pay for that option.

Hello ppl who might be having the same problem as me. Okay so I’m new to this app and I tried to create an account. When I was doing the sign in process everything was great. Every thing had a green check✅. Then it said confirm my account. I went to my email and I couldn’t find. It wasn’t in spam either where it said to look next if you couldn’t find it in your regular email box. It also said “couldn’t find email?” then it had a link. When I couldn’t find my email I went back on the app to find help to get my account up and running and the caption disappeared. I really disappointed. Luckily I had another email to use. I went through the sign in process with that. This time I found my email and activated my account. When I typed in everything it said “email or password incorrect.” I typed in my email and password a few times. I even changed my password. It still said it was wrong. I’m a little confused and really and really disappointed. I really wanted to try this app because it seems great but for now it’s trash. SBNS.

i actually love this app

so i saw many reviews that were complaining which i understand happens when there are issues but the developers always fix it so it’s not bad to have some patience. customer support is good, i always turn to their customer support if i find any issues and they always find a way to fix the issue (and usually their suggestions always work when you follow them correctly). i’m also cautious of their selection but i notice that they’re always trying to improve selection; i don’t expect them to have everything i want but i like that they have enough things that i like (and $7 for the subscription is good and standard). with subbing, of course it will take time and probably a couple of hours because it’s done by humans so i could never hold them to such an impossible expectation when it comes to subbing (it takes a long time to sub and especially to do it as accurately as possible). finally, i don’t experience any issues with the app. creating an account and logging in is very simple, and i have no issues with the app on my ipad or phone. this app is really good because it gives access to shows that do not air outside of south korea, i’m just thankful that the video quality is good (depends on your internet) and that the subs are done well. really happy with this app and i recommend it to casual drama or variety show watchers!

I can’t really review the app

To be honest, I can’t give a review on the app for its content, when subtitles are added, or even their subscription program because I couldn’t really log in (hence the two stars). At first, I tried to log in through Facebook and I would confirm with Facebook, but the app always returned me to the login screen. So I tried with my email. Everything went fine until I had to confirm my email address. After I confirmed it, the FIRST attempt at login in I received an error that too many wrong attempts had been created and I was locked out the account to try again in 3 minutes. Since I had just created the account I assumed I typed in the password wrong. I tried again after 3 minutes and I received the same error. So after waiting 3 more minutes I reset the password and I triple checked to make sure the password was correct. When I tried to login I received the same message that too many login attempts had been attempted and I was locked out the account. It is too much trouble to sign in, I can’t imagine the trouble of actually using the app.

Update the TV version of the app

I really like kocowa and Viki. I mostly used Viki, but since last year, the TV version of the app did not let me watch episodes, it always said that there was an error but it didn’t make sense. I mostly watched shows on my tv, so it was very frustrating that the app was bugging on tv but on my iPad and phone, it worked really well. I had premium subscription bc I wanted kocowa+, but i wasn’t gonna tolerate me not being able to watch whatever I wanted, so I switched to just kocowa, and I’m glad, but again, the TV app for Kocowa is not the same as the kocowa app for iPads or smartphones. So it will be nice if you could upgrade the TV APP for Kocowa, and allow viewers to see what’s on the app as easy as it is on iPad and smartphones. I even forgot that I have a watchlist because it doesn’t appear on my TV but it appears on my iPad. It would be nice it you guys fix the TV version of the app, I really don’t wanna have to unsubscribe because I cannot access or see things on the app.

Was working well-

So far this app is great, I successfully logged in with no problems, managed to use the app for a couple of hours, after about 2 hours I refreshed the app because I was having problems trying to pause, once I opened it, it suddenly kicked me out of my account and took me back to the “sign up or create new account” screen, obviously I tried to log back in with google since that’s how I signed up in the first place, yet it will not let me, it keeps on saying there’s an error trying to enter, I deleted and re-downloaded the app and even powered off my phone and I’m still having the same problem. If anyone else is currently having the same problem it could just be an app crash, but besides the error, I recommend the app.

Like the shows & price but so buggy

I like that there is a way to stream recent Korean shows here, and I like the shows they stream for the price. It’s not a lot of shows, but the price reflects that fairly. The problem though is that the app is so buggy on my Roku. I have been charged for active membership monthly as usual, yet the app hasn’t even been loading on my Roku for 2 months. I started casting from my iphone, which was annoying bc that’s not what I’m paying for, but I was hoping they’d fix it soon. To my surprise, it’s gotten worse today as the casting no longer even works. I feel like I’m just giving them free monthly paychecks for no service. I want this service to work but I’m seriously considering canceling. Tbh I think if they want to make things right, they should give me a refund for the 2 months it didn’t work at this point and fix the problem, then I’ll consider coming back. This is not right.

Stuck on ads much?

I am a huge fan of Asian Dramas and prefer them over American TV and movies. I use Kocowa, Viki, and Asian Crush, so it can get costly with paid subscriptions. This is why I tolerate ads when viewing dramas. However, having to constantly close the app and start a drama again because the ad pauses and will not play is a bit much. I tried not skipping through the ads to see if that corrects the problem but it doesn’t. I can’t discern whether this is a passive aggressive way of trying to get a subscription or just a bug in the app. Reinstalling the app and clearing out the cache does not work. At any rate, if we are allowed to have access to dramas with ads, please let us do so without the punishment. Thank you for providing an opportunity for a person on the other side of the world to view Asian content and experience new cultures.

This app acts so retarded

It keeps acting as if I can’t pause it or play it myself so I have to let it either be paused or played until the buttons show up and the buttons take forever to show up. It keeps taking me to where I was like 10 mins ago when I was already on a different part so I can’t skip it without getting tons of ads or I just can’t skip it in general Bc the stupid app won’t let me use the buttons. Also when an ad comes on the show still plays while the ad is playing so I end up missing some of it and I have to go back which is difficult and takes a long time because I still have to wait for the buttons to show up to let me go back and still when I go back another ad pops up and I have to wait all over again. Whoever made this app need to get they life together and fix it to everyone’s liking because y’all really irritating me. This will be the first and last show I watch on this app!

Just a little thing I wanted to say

So basically... I’ve been binge watching in this app! I love it so much! Like a lot! But one thing... I was really sad when I finished a series (who are you 2015) and then I wanted to rewatch it, you locked the series. I just feel there needs to be more unlocked things for people to watch. My opinion no offense at all. And can we do the monthly membership for 1 month only? That’s really it. I enjoy your app a lot and I hope that I can find more shows for free in the school category. I love this app and I think the ad breaks are pretty okay (there are glitches but they are fisible in less than a second) but my only problem is that when I signed in to my kocowa account to my Samsung Tv, it would not let me play my show. I got to watch three episoes on my iPhone 8+ just fine before I got busy but when I tried to watch it on my tv it said “This service is only available for kocowa paid subscribers.” Even though hours before, I was watching it for free just fine and I even double checked to see if that would come up on my phone and I was still able to watch it but it still won’t let me on my tv. My tv is pretty old n all (I think) but I still think it’s ridiculous!!

Save your money!!

So you pay to have content provided to you in a timely manner but it never happens. You have to wait 12+ hours after a show is supposed to be available to watch before it is uploaded &/or translated. Might as well watch Viki which has volunteer subbers and still many times gets their content up quicker than Kocowa which has paid subbers! Not only that, but their latest update crashed their system and now content is taking even longer to access and in some cases you cannot access it at all. They say they are aware of the situation and tell you to try other methods to watch their programs besides their app, but none of those work either. When you message them they just come back with a canned reply which is neither useful nor helpful. Lastly, they refuse to refund their users for the several days their system has been broken and unavailable to use properly. So we have paid to NOT be able to watch our programs!!!! 😡 I really miss DramaFever.... 😔 UPDATE: So they responded and said to use my web browser to watch their content. They OBVIOUSLY did not read my review which states that’s doesn’t work either (see 2nd paragraph). Just another one of their canned responses to make it look like their answering/addressing their users concerns when in reality they couldn’t care less because they already have your money. UNBELIEVABLE, TIME TO CANCEL!!!! 😡😡

Please update your apps we need continue watching!!

Let me preface this by saying that I like the service, but the iPad app and the Apple TV app are awful. In this day and age how is there no continue watching button anywhere? I do like the fact it has more episodes of the variety shows I watch but for how clunky and limited the apps are I’m not sure I’ll use it much longer. People have been begging for a continue watching feature forever. We shouldn’t have to go into our history to see where we left off. Id love to see my actual watchlist on the main screen too not buried at the bottom. The search feature is awful, unless you have the exact title you won’t get any results. EDIT *sigh* if I’m binge watching a show I shouldn’t have to turn captions back at the start of every episode. Auto play next is still non existent.

Ads Breaking App

I love the app and being able to watch the shows that I love, however every time I get paused for ads they practically breaking the app. I can hear the show playing but the screen would be black. There have been times where I can exist from full screen and just restart the episode and it would work fine for another 20 minutes (with some ads) before breaking again, or I can’t exist from full screen and have to close the app to fix it temporarily. Not only that there are a lot of ad breaks. Every five minutes there are ad breaks and for an hour or longer show it gets kind of tedious to have to stop that often, and then to add the ads breaking the app causing further delays makes it even harder to watch or even want to use the app. Please fix.

Love it

I been eager to watch some of my favorite shows, so I downloaded this app which I really like. It has most of the shows and drama I been wanting to watch. At first I was annoyed by the ads but I started to pay monthly subscription since it’s very affordable. Which it has been more enjoyable but the issue it’s been having is every time I’ll watch an episode it’ll start but than stop loading. I hope they have fixed the issue since last time I been on it. Overall I have no other problems with this app. Would recommend getting a subscription if you dislike ads and having to wait weeks for an episode to unlock.

Regrettably..

I currently have a yearly subscription with VIKI. I wanted to try KOCOWA, and I was willing to pay yearly subscription as well since we regularly watch K-dramas. Unfortunately, it’s not going to happen until they fix the PROBLEMS. Today is the first day of my trial. I logged in to my account using Apple MacBook pro, but I wanted to watch it on a big screen so I clicked AirPlay. Didn’t work. I followed the instructions on KOCOWA’s website on how to play using AirPlay (even though I’ve been doing it many times with VIKI, Netflix.. etc..- so I know how it works)- didn’t work. 2nd option- I installed Kocowa’s app. I logged in successfully, but the drama won’t play, it’s giving me an error message. I tried to log in, and logged back out and logged back in. But I realized, hey! a well thought and functional app shouldn’t be this way! Heck I have over 100 apps on my iPhone and didn’t give me this useless headache! TIME TO MOVE ON! So, KOCOWA- FIX THIS WILL YA? That if you want to stay in business.

Problem with the app

I just downloaded the app yesterday and it’s constant having problems with ads. Every time you watch an ad and press skip it would go to the show, but switch hack to the ad and continue to play the show while the ad is going. When the ad is over the screen is black but the audio is still playing. I saw a previous review and it seems like the issue still hasn’t been fixed. It’s not a delete the app and reinstall problem it’s a programming problem that needs to be fixed. How are people going to watch the shows and ads pop up thinking you can skip but it’s only causing more of a problem. I leave the app and then come back for there to still be an ad and the same problem occurs. Then, there are too many ads. I watch the show for literally a minute then another ad pop up. Please fix this thank you!!!!

Reoccurring problem

I just read a review from the person named “gocha_unicornpuffs” and the same thing has been happening to me and I was wondering if there was a way to stop the ads from somehow making my screen go black and the drama is still playing and also I don’t mean to sound like a nagging person but please please please fix the app where there are less ads because I can never enjoy the drama I’m watching without having to watch almost 20 second ads 3 times in a row. I’m begging you please stop the ads. I remember when this app didn’t have any ads and it was so amazing. And I also wanted to say thank you for making this app because this app has always took me out of reality when things were down!! Thank you!

I liked it better before

I liked how it was prior to the update when I could just swipe on the screen to go back or forward (instead of tapping) as well as to raise the brightness and volume. In fact, that is something I really liked on the app and wish more apps had. Because it made it easy to make quick adjustments. I wish the search feature was easier to use, but overall like the app. And like the shows. I do wish that for shows that were in progress it said that somewhere in the description. I prefer to watch shows once they are finished. Also if they aren’t finished if it had the release date of the next episode, that would also be useful.

Bad app don’t download

So I downloaded this app just a few minutes ago and just deleted it. The problem is that the episodes are locked and there are still ads even thought your watching in a app. You also have to pay to watch the episodes, it’s like those apps where you have to pay monthly in order to watch. I mean it’s pretty cheap but I’m looking for an app that’ll let me watch episodes for free and without ads. So I got annoyed of this and I just deleted it. Before anyone else waste their storage on downloading this, I wanted to write this so people know what kind of app this is. I mean some people might like it because they’re able to pay monthly because it’s only $8 but I already have many bills to pay so I’m not down for paying even $8 every month. Work is not fun at all so don’t waste your money on this, I’m pretty sure there’ll be others app that’ll let you watch episodes for free and without any ads.

Love the content, not so much the app

I am a paid subscriber and I love their contents. Only issue I have is their app design. It’s so hard to find anything, the series that I watch and the episodes that I have watched. I know there is a history but it isn’t helpful when the lists are completely gone now. And sometimes it doesn’t show the older history list just because I was on a marathon with one tv series and I can’t scroll down to find my latest watched episode of another tv series. It would be also helpful to show progress bar for watched episodes when you’re viewing the show details. Instead of tile view, a list view would be helpful in history and “new” section. Sorry for all the complaints but can’t help it because I’m a frontend developer and I see so much improvements needed in this app!

A small bug

Hey so recently i been watching on kocowa and sometimes when i have to watch ads, my screen goes black but i can still hear the audio. Like i would have 3 ads in a row then a cut second of the kdrama then it cuts back to 2-3 more ads. Then my screen goes black with just audio...its been really frustrating because i had to close,open, search kdrama, find the episode, then find the point i was just watching at then the problem happens all over again! Im not sure if it was the recent update but i didn't experience this before. So yeah thats been happening! Overall i like this app, its pretty good, thats just my small complaint.

Y’all really have a really great app here but you really need to get the ads under control and not have them keep playing over the show. I’ve been patient with it but right now at this point it’s really just unnecessary to have the ads playing over the show like that. I would have to close out the app and try all over again on where I left off and yet the ads will still be there, which I’m not upset about, but they would just continue to play over the show while it’s playing. And then when I try to get through the ads while the shows playing the show would just come out with a black screen but the audio still playing. That’s really annoying please look at this problem in the app and fix it. Thank you

Problems with the app.

Every time I am watching my shows, there are to many ad pop-ups and after every ad pop-up my shows are playing while the ad is still on. After the ad is over my screen turns black and i would have to go out of the app and go back into the app but my show is still not working because it’s either the screen is still black or the tools to fast forward, re wind, make the brightness brighter or dimmer, and the sound won’t work. I’ve tried deleting the app and then signing back into my account and then going back to my show but it still won’t work. I’ve deleted the app about 4 times already and it still is broken and won’t work. It frustrates me a lot, but I hope you can fix it really soon so more people including my self can enjoy the app without any problems. Please fix this problem quickly as possible!

It’s a really good app it’s just that there are WAY to many adds I was watching a kdrama when I add piped up but after the add was over my phone died I charged it then went back to the drama it made me watch the add all over again but that wasn’t the problem after watching the add again I skipped 30 seconds ahead on the drama after that I watched it for not even 10 seconds until ANOTHER add popped up it was like 1 min and 40 seconds long wit no skip then the second one had a skip so I skipped it and the third one was so long with no skip I’m just confused as to why I had to watch another add a few seconds after watching one it’s that big of a deal it’s just that I feel like there are a lot more adds then there should be some times/ NOT ALL THE TIME

THE ADS

This app has diverse shows but the ads kill me. They give you three ads to watch back to back, thats fine with. However, I literally get 6 ads back to back and sometimes, after the 2nd/5th ad, the show continues in the background and then becomes black when the ad is finished even though it’s still playing. I’m so frustrated. I don’t even want to use the app because of how many ads I get. It’s like playing one of those popular but simple games that gets an ad after each level, but instead the level is like 10 minutes, and there are multiple ads at once. I probably won’t use this app anymore if u can’t even finish one episode one series, or rather 30 minutes of an episode without having to try to fix the show, watch more ads, and restart the app. There’s honestly no point to the skip button either.

I have really enjoyed this app. For a couple of months I had problems not being able to login or dramas and shows were locked even though I paid my subscription. A kocowa representative contacted me and after finding the right help; My issue was resolved. The resolution was to give me a new log in identity, i had a little bit of trouble logging in on all my devices but that too was resolved quickly. I love the fact that translations are done quickly and that I am able to watch my favs immediately. However my schedule has become overloaded and I don’t find much time to watch much so I will unsubscribe until I can find the time again. Thanks kocowa!

I would like an explanation please

Before this review, I would like whoever is reading this to know that this wasn't ever even remotely a bad app for me until today. Anyways, when I started that app today it said to sign in which was really strange considering I had been signed in for a while now. When I tried to press sign in, the app crashed. I tried it again and turned my phone on and off, but it the end had to reinstall the app completely. While this problem was fixed another occurred. An episode of 'It's Dangerous Beyond The Blankets' had no subtitles when it was first released so I decided to wait. After waiting a whole day (the day where I was logged out to be exact) it was locked. I don't know if this is normal but it really upset me. If anyone can give me an explanation on any of this, it would be appreciated. Other than that, the app if really good.I enjoy Running Man, Weekly Idol, and It's Dangerous Beyond The Blankets.

Ugh!

I live to watch the shows as I had originally subscribed through the Roku channel. I wanted to use the phone app though and couldn’t use the account login I originally used, so I unsubscribed through Roku to add this app. I paid for a one year subscription, but it still is showing my email is unverified. I have clicked the link in the emails (yes, I have gotten multiple emails for verification, because non have worked) many times, but non have worked fully. The app opens, but gets no further than the attempting to load the screen (I see the Home Screen but can’t click on anything and I see the swirling purple loading [phone equivalent of a computer mouse] symbol yet it never completes even if I leave it go for an hour. Why is it not working? Is the activation link broke or what?

It’s a good app when it actually works

I’ve had Kocowa for a few months and it’s a good app when it actually works. It has a wide variety of Korean dramas for free. But the amount of issues I’ve had with the app drives me crazy. I’ve gotten up to 11 ads within a 5 minute time period, ads won’t load and buffer constantly, the drama will play behind the ads and once you skip over them, it displays a black screen with only the audio, and occasionally you are unable to exit out of the drama or pause it. The app also runs quite slow and it takes a while to load the home page. If it weren’t for these issues, I think the app would be much better and more people would use it. Please try to fix these problems soon!

Needs Improvment

The app functions and moves as if your battery is on 1% that type of stuttering feeling. People are paying 5.99 a month for a slow and crappy ui that even struggles to let you type the show you want. Constant errors, Cast/Airplay Issues, Constantly being logged out is annoying also there is an error where if you log in it won’t allow you because it says “Verification Error”. Also here’s a tidbit add a continue watching or a favorites tab because customers star a show they like but still have to go through the tedious work of looking it up or scrolling to find it, needs to be more accessible. The app she move swiftly and feather like this is a streaming services with other strong competitors. SERIOUS PATCH NEEDED. UPDATE!!!!

Could use some work, but LOVE it !

I absolutely love this app. There is a variety of TV shows to choose from (I recommend Weekly Idol). The only problem with this app is the pauses for ads. I understand that if you watch stuff for free, you eventually get a lot of ads. But somehow, whenever I get ads, I wait but at the end of the ad it restarts the show and does not save my place. Also.. whenever I would get an ad I would go through it and have the same 1 minute ad like 2 minutes later. That’s all I have to say, and if you are reading this publisher, please fix this problem. Also, know that I do NOT hate this app at ALL. I actually kind of enjoy it too much! 3 stars, but not 5 because of the ad problem. Again, I LOVE this app ! !

It’s alright

I personally enjoy this app, but there are a few problems here and there. I find it quite difficult to find new dramas that I want to watch. I don’t want to pay for premium so I am limits in my choices and I find it hard the find the free choices. I also like to search by genre and find that I don’t have a wide selection of genres to search by. I enjoy how it shows my watch history so I can pick up a show from where I left off. It is also nice/sometimes annoying that it will clear shows that you last watched a while ago. With some improvements I think this would be a fantastic app, but right now it functions inconsistently and strangely.

Love it... but it has some issues

I first of all would like to say that I love Kocowa and I personally don't hate it, but I have some suggestions. I wish that you could have some more Korean shows like Netflix has. I also wish that the time that you left the episode is where it begins again. It is very difficult to try and find where you left off without messing up. This also leads to when you are changing the place you are at and if you press any buttons while it is loading it will go back to where you moved from. I love the app and I love the shows but I wish it had more shows and a few changes. Thank you for creating this app though!

Format of ads needs to be fixed!!!

I like that Kocowa has a 24 hour option to allow people to watch shows that recently aired within that timeframe. I only have two variety shows I love to watch, so a subscription just never really appeals to me. That being said, it is so frustrating watching multiple ads just to have the show running in the background, the screen going blank, exiting out of the app completely, getting back into the app to click the show, watch the ads AGAIN, all for the same thing to occur in an endless cycle. I really hope they fix this problem, it is quite annoying, and I always end up leaving and trying out Viki. I don’t mind watching ads, but it’s a problem when I watch twenty in a row for the show to not even play.

Hello I am writing this review because I’m trying to watch my kdrama I just started on, on the first episode the ads were okay but I got on episode two then the ads started acting funky. So when I was watching it an ad came, normal. Then it went onto the second ad and the kdrama started playing I was confused but I thought that I could just go back to where I was. Then the ads were done and the screen was black so then I closed the app and went back on the kdrama and of course two ads then after three more and the same thing happened three times. I was also on the good part which makes me mad but I really like this app, I finished a whole kdrama before and none of this happened so I’m very confused.

This App Is Terrible

Ok first of all, the shows and stuff on here are average. The reason I got KOCOWA was to watch kpop related things and Hwarang. Second of all, once you close the app or exit out of a show, it takes LEGIT FOREVER to load back to the part you were on. In fact, it doesn’t load at all. I can’t even watch the rest of the episodes or anything at all because it won’t load and I accidentally clicked out. This app is horrible and I recommend you think twice about getting it. Actually don’t get it. Lastly, even if you don’t click it, it just randomly opens the pause button and shows where you are and I can’t read the subtitles because I don’t speak Korean. Then I miss a few minutes trying to get it down. And if I fast forward it back, it loads and then you can’t watch anything. This app is utterly useless and irrelevant.

App issues

I love kocowa the content is great the service has a lot of things other streaming services doesn’t have its really really great. But the app doesn’t work I literally can’t watch anything I pay for a premium subscription but I cant use it, the app literally sends me to the subscription screen only to tell me I already have a premium subscription. I know that but apparently the app doesn’t. The app won’t let me confirm my email address and the link gets sent, but it just doesn’t work. I pay for premium to utilize offline viewing, but because the app doesn’t recognize my premium subscription so I can’t use it. I really love Kocowa’s content it really is some of the best in my opinion, but this app is kind of terrible.

Good service, bad Apple TV app

I would give the service itself five stars, but it’s SO frustrating to try and watch on the Apple TV. The 15 seconds back and forward don’t work at all, and the fast scrub (using the wheel because the buttons don’t work for this either) is really temperamental and makes me feel like I’m being forced to play some sort of precision game to get it to go forwards or backwards. I have a video of the behavior if the developers need to see what’s happening. I also know it isn’t the remote because it works for every other streaming app. Please fix this! :( (Casting from my phone works fine and the remote works fine for it when it is being cast from my phone - but then I’m unable to use my phone.)

Its great so far!

I just got this app, so I don’t know if I might change my mind or not, but I think its a great app! At first I thought you had to pay to watch it, but i downloaded it anyway in hopes of wanting to watch this one show after all other apps didn’t have it or had to pay. I logged in, and it was a panic of me hoping it would work and be free. I searched it up, and I think that some shows you have to pay and some you don’t? And that they eventually become free? I’m not sure, but even though there are a lot of ads, you can skip them easily! Its very nice. I think I’ll enjoy this app.
