KY3 News

My iPhone 8 app would immediately crash upon trying to open since the last update. This update appears to have resolved this issue. Less news items on the app compared to their online service.

This is much better than the previous version, but the ad that pops up over the whole screen immediately on opening is too much. Do you really need a 5 second ad in addition to all of the ads in there regular news feed? I will be deleting and reading local news from a different source. Latest version is a huge battery drain. Reading two stories makes by battery drop 20%. Edit: the return of the ad on the splash screen has done it. I have deleted and switched to a different local news provider who still had plenty of ads in their app but are not nearly as intrusive.

I was in the middle of reading a TORNADO WARNING for a neighboring county, and as I am reading what counties are going to be in the path of the storm, and trying to determine my family's risk of being caught in its path, an ad popped up, and took over my screen telling me that I had just won a $500 Walmart gift card, and it would not let me go back to the tornado warning. I had to quickly switch to a different weather source to finish reviewing the warning. Considering the nature of the storm, I am highly disappointed that this happened, and this is something that should be fixed quickly!

Storm sirens sound and taking shelter in the basement. When we needed a weather update, we got a 30 second commercial. 30 seconds doesn’t sound like much but it is when you need to know where the tornado is. There is an advertisement when you open the app. Another between forecasts and video. One more at the bottom, then you have watch one every expletive time you up a video. I would gladly pay for a version of both the KY3 apps to not have to deal with the stupid advertisements. I am going to delete this one until the do something different.

The KY3 app is a great source for local Ozarks news, sports, and accurate weather forecasts. I use it several times a day. The audio weather alerts are especially valuable in these hills. I would give this app five stars if there weren’t so many advertisements on the display throughout the pages of the app. I would gladly pay a few bucks for the app without ads. NOT A SUBSCRIPTION, but a one time charge.

Your "new" v3 version doesn't work on my older iPad. Used to, at least your old versions worked, not now. But those ads of yours still work in the app of course. The newest version of the weather app hasn't worked on my iPad for some time but the news did. So much for using any of your lame apps. How a good station can have such lame apps is beyond me. For those of you like me who dont have one of the newest iPads, the KOLR old version still works. *** Update - After trying to download the new version again the app asked if I wanted to download the last compatible version and I did. It still initially would only show ads. After opening it and closing 3 or 4 times it *finally* started showing up with stories as before. This is the worst app on my iPad and that I've ever used. Lucky for them KY3 is a decent station or I would never use it. I'd give it a zero if I could.

I have installed and deleted this app several times over the years. I just now deleted it ... again. I try to look for information that I can use and help myself and my family. In the end however, it’s the negative news that gets the headline and I just do not need any more negativity in the world. Also I feel that it is a little ridiculous to have to close the Cherokee Firearms advertisement every time I open the app. KY3 is fine as a reporting agency. The choices of what make to the app however makes it “Not the Place to Be”.

I’ve had many issues with this app. I have had a problem with trying to view a tornado warning to find out if my family needed to move to the basement when an ad popped up and covered the whole screen where I could no longer see the weather warning. Every time I went back in it happened again. Recently the app has stopped working altogether. It either kicks me out as soon as I get in or won’t let me in at all. Unfortunately, I’ve had to delete the app because if these issues.

I have never seen so many advertisements in a single app. They pop up, they slide in, they take over, they annoy you, they’re not closable, and more!! The entire app is not centered around news and content it’s centered around Clickbait so that you accidentally click an advertisement and make the developer money. This is not a news app folks, it’s an advertisement app. End of story. I’m actually surprised Apple let’s just kind of trash slide through their App Store.

An apple guy had me reset my settings. My only complaint is on my ky3 app I don’t get the sound of ding dong ding. Sounds funny I know. Been the settings on that but can’t get sound back. It’s updated other than that don’t know. To whom it may concern: Matt…thank you !

I don’t understand why your station is biased and trying to adhere to national liberal media standards? This is a conservative dominated region. It is obvious by the reporting and personal opinions of the anchors. In public schools locally they are forcing kids to watch CNN locally without permission from parents and we know CNN is liberal. Why is this happening? Are you aware of your region and what appeals to them? Do you really care about local citizens and what they want to watch? Remember the majority is what pays the bills such as advertising etc.

I expected so much more from KY3. This app has way too many ads. Doesn’t load about half the time. And, slideshow of images never works. Many times a story will reference a slideshow of images to scroll through and it either isn’t there at all or you can’t scroll through the images. I keep thinking this will be fixed but after 3 updates...still the same problem. Come on KY3, fire these developers and create an app people can actually use.

This app is very good, as I had download it once before. However, whenever it opens, there are ads come up and have to be closed. Is there a way to get rid of these ads?

I can’t help but wonder why Nicolette is on more often? I like her much better than all the rest of the people ky3 has had since Abby left. Please give us more of her for weather!!!

I do understand stand weather is important, I do however think on the TV news the weather could be one segment. They repeat a lot of the same information. I like all the forecasters, but think weather could be a shorter one time segment. Jack McCormick. Lakeview Arkansas.

I hate that I rely on this for local news. It locks up every other time I use it. The AD causes me to search for other options. It has not had any real design changes in years. Hate how unfriendly the images are and videos rarely load without significant wait time. The app locks up almost like clock work, every other time I try and use it. It’s strange to me that no one at KY3 uses this app - if they did they would have someone fix it.

Over a couple of years, I’ve deleted and reinstalled this app several times, always hoping it will work better. I usually end up deleting it within the first day of downloading it. It just won’t work, won’t load, freezes up. It’s junk. Why can’t you get your app to actually work??? I want to see YOUR news in Springfield over the others, but your product is worthless.

Horrible app. Crashes not just the app but completely shuts down my phone. Maybe KY3 can’t afford to pay an editor. I would think they could based on the payroll they’re not paying to get good reporters. How about change up the stories that you guys keep on the news app for days and days. To bad you don’t have multiple Steve Grants or Lisa Roses’!!

Create your own national news articles instead of sourcing them from other news organizations with bias.

Who ever decided that trying to find ways to fit more ads into this app should be fired. You can’t even use the app these days with out some random ad popping up causing the whole thing to crash. Plus, what’s the point of reading local news if there’s just an add in the way anyways. Please please please cool it on the Ads.

Your app crashes daily now ever since you added the automatic ad that you have to cancel out of. I understand the business aspect of it but it’s ridiculous how many ads you have in all of your stories. Deleting and won’t download again unless you fix the crashing problems and report news as opposed to selling advertising.

The KY3 TV News App has an increasingly large number of junk advertisements that are full of issues and at times, makes the KY3 News App more difficult to use. The majority of the advertisements really do cause me to not want to use the KY3 App anymore at all.

Update: fixed the crashing issue but added ads that look like news articles, misleading you to click them, also ads with click bait headings! Deleting the app! The app crashes consistently, also I understand having ads but on every single video and every time I open the app.

Great app to have specially when you don’t get to watch the news.

I have sent several msgs to tech support about the notification tab disappearing each time I close the app!!!! It is frustrating to have to go back in & turn it on each time I open app!!!!! WHEN are they gonna fix it?!?!?????

I know you have to pay for the app somehow, but when you added the huge opening page add you lost me. I am deleting the app. There are many people who will pay a dollar or two for an app just so we don't have to deal with ridiculous ads while we're trying to read the news.

Ads on this app are beginning to impede my ability to navigate with ease. ESPECIALLY while at home where my Hugh's net internet "connection" is poor, at best, and cellular service is even worse. I plan to check out the other local news apps for comparison.

Sometimes I click on an advertised news story, the ap takes me elsewhere. System is not very user friendly. Way too full of ads and delays. Lots of useless information. Keep it news or local interest related. Have came very close to removing it.

KY3 is my favorite local news channel. I wish the news articles didn’t freeze up, forcing me to abandon their app and seek local news elsewhere. 10 nicknames later my review is rejected due to the name previously being used. Coincidence?

I do not like the white background on the weather map. It’s taken out most cities and towns and roads, and counties. I like a bigger picture of what’s going on with the weather. Shouldn’t have to zoom in so close to see the counties. Please change it back to the previous display.

Ever since my phone updated to iOS 11 the battery life has been TERRIBLE. I just looked at this app for 5 minutes and watched my battery life go from 87% to 60%. In the 11 minutes since I closed the app and have been discussing and writing this comment, my battery life is still at 60%.

The news tiles are mixed with ads and junk. Hard to tell what is news. Also, trying to play videos in landscape causes frequent crashes. Ad before video is choppy.

1/4 of a star is all I will give, and that is really pushing it. I do not understand how so many “1” star Reviews can add up to “2” stars. Bad math + bad advertising manipulation + bad News coverage + bad (crappy) weather forecast + bad and irresponsible management = find another source of news, so “SEE YA!”. Sorry, but...,replace the old guy on evening news for a start too. Sooo boring!

This was a decent app and then all of the sudden they added pop up ads. What kind of solid news media puts pop up ads in their app when you're trying to find out what's going on. I'm going to delete this and get my news elsewhere

I love the app as I have decided KY 3 is the place to be. Could use a little more news/info outside of Springfield. I have cut the cable and would like to cast KY3 to my tv.

While reading text the paragraph jumps up and down on my iPhone. I think the flashing ads are causing this. I was reading the article about the panhandler woman with the boy that got into a Mercedes. I never finished the article just gave up trying to read it.

This has been a fairly standard news app with typical ad heavy content that worked great. However, since 1.1.5 a month ago, the continuous crashing and general unpredictability have prompted me to avoid using this app.

When trying to read a story...ads come up that you can’t get to go away. I’d understand an ad that comes up but one that takes you to questionable sites w fake gifts and you can’t get out of them without closing the app? No real work out into this app.

I do not understand why the KY3 personnel do not keep the app updated with the most recent news. I will browse for New News, and then go to the KOLR 10 app to find the most recent news not posted in the KY3 app. Very disappointed in the lack of coverage.

I hate having to X out of an AD before seeing the 1st Screen of KY3.

I do like your app. However the flashing banner that appears during the replay of you news stories needs to go away. It is annoying, disruptive, & unnecessary. Perhaps a glitch for the closed caption? Please fix

The radar never loads on the news app or the weather app... it’s frustrating when you’re in the middle of a tornado warning and you can’t figure out witch way the storm is going ...

This is a terrible ad filled app. I downloaded it for the school closings and tried to set up notifications for multiple districts and they limit them to three. I need more due to the large area that my staff live and where my staff travel for work.

KY3 should be aware that although the news portion of the app is good, the click bait ads make it hard to tolerate the platform and view KY3 as a legitimate news source. Link to local “real” companies not make up click hungry pseudo companies

You get an ad before the app even opens. Ads throughout the app. It’s more like an advertisement than a news app. Really a shame because they have the best news team in Springfield, just too many adds to even bother with.

News service only posts total numbers of COVID-19 cases and deaths. Your audience deserves to know more - recovery rates, those who have survived, a personal story of restored health and vitality. The human soul is not wired to hear just negative news. It is defeatist and discouraging. How about a message of HOPE?

I have been a fan of KY3 for over 30 years. You guys are great. Over the last 3 weeks the app will not load on my phone. Please fix this. Thank you.

Use to rely on this app for news updates. Now adds and “sponsored” links are intermingled with the news. Can’t tell what is news and what is spam. 👎🏼 Now every time I open your app, it shuts my phone off completely. 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼

Looks like latest update has locked up the app, won’t open, deleted tied to reinstall, can’t do that, restarted iPhone 13, no luck, did lose the icon, bit it thinks it’s still there
