Fine for my 3yo. Glitchy and buggy. Please fix!

A lot is over her head but she finds PLENTY to do. Some games teach her how to do video games so that helps. The tutorial is too open to help her much. It’s fine, she’ll grow into it, and she loooves her avatar! Often recently (September 2020) when she selects a game the app gets stuck on a blue leap frog screen or a blank white-ish screen. We have to restart the app for her. Please fix!

Doesn’t Work

This app is frustrating. My 4 year old loves it, loves the games and learning and collecting rewards and that’s why we bought a subscription. Unfortunately the app hardly ever works consistently. It has major issues loading just about anything so when we complete an activity it will crash, when opening the app it will crash, when we finish a Learning Adventure lesson to collect a reward it will crash, etc. The worst thing that has happened to us is that my child had collected a fair amount of collection pieces as well as character customization options that just disappeared and the app acted as if we had just started the app for the very first time despite us having 12 certificates and saving our progress. We have contacted customer support a few times and they’ve been less than helpful. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app (three times) which didn’t solve our issues and the only response I received was “It seems to be working on our end.” Based on the reviews I really doubt that considering I know somebody that has the Leapfrog tablet and they have the same issues we are having on iOS. I caution all parents because while the games are great the execution is incredibly frustrating and the lack of concern for support is downright infuriating. I was hoping they were fixing these issues but reviews from 3 years ago tell me that the concern for the developers isn’t in fixing these issues.

Accessing Leapfrog Academy

I have the apple parental control restrictions setup on my daughters iPad where I have the specific websites she can visit entered only. I feel that the “limit adult content” setting is still too much freedom for an 8 year old if she wanders to the internet and accidentally searches...As a parent, I just don’t feel comfortable using someone else’s interpretation of what “adult content” is where my children are concerned. My point in explaining this is that when I have the controls set up this way, even if I place this app under “always allow”, the app will not launch. The only way I’ve been able to get it to launch successfully is to select “limit adult content” under the apple restrictions, which I am not comfortable with. Has anyone encountered this and found a way to fix it? Do I need to enter the leapfrog website as an accessible website, and if so, what is the specific site or sites? I love the app otherwise.

Needs work

I wish I hadn’t paid for this. I wanted to love it. When we are able to access the content my son loves playing, but there are areas that have proven difficult to navigate and more often than not it has server connection issues and takes FOREVER to load or is difficult to play due to large lags. The printables are not age appropriate for the younger kids and don’t give a good introduction before jumping in and assuming they have an understanding or knowledge of the materials (especially letters). Over all I think the content needs to be revisited and updates to accommodate the ages it advertises. The app needs reworking to make it less bloated and easier to use. It would be nice if the avatar was more easily customizable as my son has somehow created a princess for himself... I don’t mind the princess, but it would be nice to be able to change it if he wanted.

Games freezing but don’t call Customer Service for help!

So frustrated! Some games work and are fun for my PreK child, but many of the games are freezing so I called Customer Service. Big mistake since it’s pharmed to a 3rd party. I had to call twice because the reps couldn’t hear me and had trouble understanding English then kept putting me on hold because he didn’t know how to fix the problem. 45 minutes later going around in circles and NO SOLUTION! The rep just kept asking me to repeat the problem like he didn’t hear what I had been saying the entire call. I tried the posted solutions on the site, but they’re missing some steps and are incredibly unhelpful! This is not what I expect from the Leapfrog brand!

Games freeze repeatedly

My daughter got to the 2nd island and the game with the chicken eggs saying hello and goodbye stops responding repeatedly on my iphone. I have closed out the app. I have restarted my phone. There are other games in the app also freezing. I am up to date on all my software. I’m not having any issues with any other apps. My toddler doesn’t understand why I can’t make it work and is getting upset which stresses me out. This is NOT a situation that I want an app to put me in. I literally am paying for more stress in my life. But when the games in the app are working she loves it so much like all the other leap frog things we have gotten for her. The chicken game worked on my ipad so idk what the deal is.

Can’t access anything!

I just signed up for this for my child tonight and I can’t log in to the parent dashboard because my whole password won’t fit! So I tried to login to the website and it isn’t letting me see my account info anywhere. I’ve searched every inch of that site and tried to reset using the password reset, seems like a ploy to make it so you can’t cancel before your trial is up. Which I wasn’t even planning on doing, but considering it now. Running around in circles and this is not cool.

Doesn't work more often than it does

When the app works, it is great. The problem is it doesn't work more often than it does. It looks you out repeatedly and then it resets the game specific age setting to 6+ every time even though your parent dashboard will show the age that you set. You have to change the age setting on the left of that screen every time. Most of the time after it logs you out it will freeze on the loading screen when the bar is full. Restarting the app or iPad does no good. You have to delete the app and reinstall it every time. We have two tablets and it occurs equally often on both. Will cancel subscription if this continues. Too bad. It would be a good app if it worked.

Absolute crap

Just like everyone else here I tried the free trial. What a joke! When I tried using it, it didn’t work. So I went to the review page to find out if that was a normal thing, as you can see it is. So I unsubscribed from the app & never turned back. Until I had a charge on my bank account for $70! Now they will not refund me my money for a yearly subscription I can’t use, even though I emailed them the same day they charged me. (This is also been commented several times on the reviews) next time I’ll know I need to read reviews before I try a “free” trial. Leap frog you need to fix your app! It doesn’t work and apparently doesn’t tell you when someone unsubscribes from the “free” trial you advertise.

Great, when it works.

My kids enjoyed the app the first time they played with it (according to them, it is way better than the educational app they were using before), the next time they tried to play, it was frozen. After doing some looking around, I found instructions from LeapFrog on how to fix the problem. Once again, my kids enjoyed the app. Unfortunately, the way we had to set it up makes it so other things we use the iPad for, don’t work. I don’t want to have to change the settings every time my kids want to do this app. Unless we can find away to make this work better, we won’t be subscribing.

Crashes all the time

I never write app reviews, so the fact that I feel so motivated to write one says a lot. I really wish the developers would get their act together. I have a daughter that absolutely loves this game. I have 2 iPads and the app does not work on either. It freezes constantly. The only way I can get control of it is to delete it and re-download it. I would simply delete it and be done, but she loves it so much. On my other iPad, the sound goes in and out so that you have no idea what you’re suppose to do or there’s no story-time soundtrack. It’s not the iPad as we use other apps and it’s my home music library. I am so frustrated! I give it 2 stars for content, but I should give it less for creating this fingernail-on-chalkboard affect of crying kids every 5 minutes that it freezes, crashes or fails in some way. So many people are complaining, so many little ones are disappointed by such shoddy development. Just fix it!

Hardly ever works

We haven’t been able to enter the app for several months now. It just stays on the loading screen for several minutes then crashes and freezes the ipad. We have continued to be charged monthly for it. I have tried several times on iphone and ipad to sign in to cancel through the browser, BUT IT REQUESTS TO DOWNLOAD THE APP TO CONTINUE!!!! The app DOES NOT WORK, so i can’t make changes/cancel account. Basically I am paying monthly for A CHANCE that the app will work. When it did work without any crashes it was very pleasant, if i remember correctly it may have worked flawlessly for about a week then the crashes and forever loading screen began.

App is unresponsive to touch screens

If it works, my kids really enjoyed the app. I wasn’t able to have them use it long enough to gauge how effective it is as a learning tool. We have an iPad Pro, iPad, iPhone 8, iPhone 11 and iPhone 12 (I am an app designer myself) and the app doesn’t work on any of them. At a random point shortly after opening, the app will simply become unresponsive to the touch screen, and acts like it’s waiting for you to do something. Seems like a bug, but it has been weeks without a fix which is a bummer. We have no choice but to cancel the subscription and discontinue use.

Great if Working

I have to sign into this app almost every time my daughter wants to use it. If she hasn’t been playing with it for a few hours, when she goes back to open it, it is requiring to sign up or sign in. I’ve uninstalled the app and reinstalled with same issues. Aside from that, this is a great app for my 4 year old. It has helped her with her reading and comprehension. She can play it with no help from me and includes me as she feels necessary. But this login lockout thing is annoying and I’m not always available to log her in.

Wish this worked properly

What is with this app, the volume won’t come on most of the time! I’m glad I haven’t paid the subscription. I put this on my grand daughters iPad she loves when it work right. So aggravating. I’m also aggravated with the Leapfrog activity device. Says download video/audio. The mess ain’t working. I even bought a separate bundle of booklets, wasted $$$. Y’all need to fix the issues! Very disappointed. Makes me not want to purchase anymore of your products!

Not worth the monthly fee

I like the app and my 3 year old does too but there are too many bugs. The app closes, freezes, or is stuck loading every 5 minutes. The last update was a year ago so the developers obviously don’t care about making the product functional. After this month ends I won’t be using it until they fix the app. They’re just stealing peoples money and I’m not going to support them. I’ll be using abc mouse from now on✌🏾

Glitch

I just down loaded this yesterday and kept saying I was off line ,when my iPad is connected to my internet at home. Now today it says the same thing and just keep bring up the first screen with my child’s name and the play button. Once you the play button it brings you right back to the screen over and over Again along with saying I’m off line

Not age appropriate

This game is NOT age appropriate. My daughter just turned 3 & isn’t familiar with numbers yet. She has no idea what they look like. INTRODUCING a child to preschool would be TEACHING them these numbers. Not expecting them to know them right off the bat. It’s ridiculous that my child can’t even navigate this because she’s not shown anything from it, it literally starts off with a toaster number crunch or some weird game that’s involved with figuring out numbers from 1-10. She doesn’t know what those look like. Where’s the stuff to teach her? Really disappointed in this. Will not be renewing once the trial is over.

No problems maybe some need to upgrade or something.

I saw a lot of reviews that act like it crashed and couldn’t open it and created problems but I don’t have any problems at all works great it’s an adventure in learning much better than most apps I’ve seen for toddler’s. I hate to see a great program get beat up for apparently no reason

It’s great, when it works.

This app is great but only when it works. It logs me out constantly which means my 4yo can’t play whenever he wants. Every time I have to log back in, it never works, it gets to the LeapFrog screen, the loading bar loads completely but then it freezes, and even completely exiting the app and reopening does nothing. I pay for the monthly subscription for it to work occasionally. Disappointed because of how much my son loves it. Canceling my subscription and deleting the app.

Keeps stalling

I just downloaded this for my 3 year old. He plays one game on it and then goes to do another and the app freezes and has to be restarted again hence. The content is fun and engaging, albeit some of it does not seem entirely educational, but at least it’s better than him being glued to mind numbing videos that provide no content.

Disappointed

I love Leap Frog and we have owned several leap pads. After the new leap pad quit working, I decided I would go this route on my iPad. However, I can never get the sound to work. I have followed the instructions in the parent help section. I have it all the way up. I have checked and rechecked settings. No go. I will not be keeping it because he can’t sit at the big computer to work. Guess we will just stick with ABC Mouse.

We love this program!

We’ve been apart of a few different programs such as ABC mouse — and this one is by far our favorite. It’s interactive and high quality. The lessons are short and simple! Our 5.5 year old has learned so much. Our 7 year old also really enjoys everything in the program!

Loved it until it started crashing

My 5 yr old loved this app until it started crashing today. Wouldn’t load, was stuck on the ‘leapfrog’ loading page then it would start chirping and bird sounds would start like on the character screen. I cancelled my subscription because it did this all day and even after I closed the app then reopened. Still did the same thing. Then I shut off my iPad Pro and turned it back on. Same thing. It had updated earlier this week with no problems until today.

Having problems to open leapfrog stays in loading

I am having issues my daughter likes your app but when you open the app stays in loading mode and doesn’t move from there and I have tried to reopen and I have turn off my iPhone and it is the same.I have to delete the app and downloaded again everytime when she wants to play leapfrog can you fix these issue?

Great but!!

My nieces love this! There in kindergarten and have a bit of learning difficulties. So we started a free trial to see what it would be like. BUT! When we play on a computer or a phone it does freeze sometimes and it makes them very upset! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE FIX the issues!!!

Love it!

Just started using this today and my kindergarten child loved it. It didn’t crash at all but it did start all over again when she accidentally left the app but overall I love the activities and I believe from my experience it’s better than abc mouse. Great job!

Bad customer review

Worst customer service I’ve dealt with. My kids used this app in kindergarten and are now in 1st grade and have outgrown this product. I just noticed it auto renewed today so I promptly called to cancel. They will not issue refunds. For a company serving kids and BUSY parents, do yourself a favor and get another product. The second person I talked to started yelling at me about their policies so I hung up on her. Lesson learned but I just want to warn anyone who is thinking about this product. Just go buy some books.

Freezes

This app stared out great but now it freezes constantly after about 25 minutes. I have deleted it and redownloaded it twice and it still does the same thing. I was going to renew but I think I’ll find something that actually works without freezing all the time.

Why do I have to login everyday!

Purchased this app for my Preschooler, and I have to login every time she uses the app. It’s frustrating because with her being on the spectrum she doesn’t quite know how to communicate that the app isn’t working and gets frustrated easily. I hope and pray the developers can fix it or she will just use Khan Academy exclusively.

Games Don’t Work

I really want to like this program but my kids often have to restart it several times a session because games keep freezing. Can the developers please revisit or fix a lot of the games? Especially the side scrolling “jump” games or where you have to drag your character across the screen to catch items. Very frustrating.

Like the app but freezes CONSTANTLY!

My four-year-old really does love to play this but it freezes up several times while he is playing. I mean repeatedly. We shut down the app and start back up. I have installed all updates and my phone is fairly new so it isn’t on an older unsupported IOS. Frustrating.

Freezes constantly

So this app is great, the content is age appropriate and my son loves the games! I would recommend this app - BUT it constantly freezes! CONSTANTLY! The developer needs an update to fix this glitch or I will go back to ABC mouse........... This app is definitely more engaging and has better content, but the freezing are out of control! Once the app is fixed, I would be happy to rate 5 stars!

No sound

We have ipad 2021 (ios15.) The app makes no sound. The sound comes back after I uninstall and reinstall while the app is open but the sound disappears every time after I close the app and open it again so I have to uninstall and reinstall and log in every day!!! Their solution “check the mute button on control center” does not help at all. Please fix it.

Leap Frog constantly freezes

I downloaded the app a few days ago. Since that time, I have deleted and uploaded the app multiple times due to the app freezing. Is there a bug fix for this problem? If not, I think I will delete and cancel membership. I hope there is a bug fix because my daughter loves the app when it’s actually working.

Crashes Regularly - Does not work Restricted

The app crashes regularly within a few minutes of starting any exercise requiring regular tapping on the screen. It also requires a magic (undocumented) combination of URLs to access when an iPad is in restricted content (allow only) mode. I’ve yet to get this to work. The FAQ on Leapfrog’s website is outdated referencing iOS 12 as the latest. Skip the trial - just don’t use this.

Keeps Crashing!

I wish I could say this app was great, because my 13 year old daughter loved LeapFrog products when she was learning to read, but this app is absolute trash. It’s constantly freezing and when it does work either the touch screen stops responding a couple of minutes in or the next screen won’t load. Save yourself some money and get Star-fall or ANYTHING but this app!

Keeps freezing

Horrible! My son can never play it, It always freezes on him and he gets so frustrated. The VERY FEW times he could play, he liked it. 99% of the time It freezes on him 10 minutes into playing. At that time, I have to delete the app and start all over. I would purchase it if it kept working. At the moment I am in my free trial. If it keeps freezing, I will not purchase.

nostalgia

i completely forgot about this game, but i will just say i used to play this as a little kid, it definitely deserves a high star rating. there are lots of educational games and resources that will actually make your children learn something, and yes, i learned something from this app… the app has this land where you make a character that travels when you play more games and yeah, very colorful, adventurous. 9/10 and 4/5 are my ratings!

7.99 a month???

I am so fed up with subscription apps. What happened to buying a game /app ONCE and then owning it. Sell updates if you want a revenue stream. This is ridiculous for a childrens app. It may not seem like that much, but my goodness every single app has become subscription based! I was so excited to download this and planned to buy a package or something to use the full app, but once it’s installed then you learn it’s 7.99/mo.

Freezes every time

We love the concept of the app. My son loves building up to get a pet surprise but every time we play it freezes and we have to log out and back in. Sometimes that doesn’t work and we have to delete the app and install. This all takes time and definitely not worth it. How is he supposed to learn when it freezes every single time we play!! Want my money back!!

FREEZES ALL THE TIME!

I want to love this app, but it’s terrible. Some of the activities are great, but it freezes ALL the time. It is so frustrating. Also, there are activities that just aren’t on level. For example, developers, the shells that you need to put in color order...that is just not something that many two year old can do!

Constantly Crashes

This is a nice learning app., but it constantly crashes. We are using a brand new device with plenty of memory. It is incredibly annoying to have to keep deleting and reloading the application every time it freezes up.

When it works it’s great

The app freezes on the loading screen. We’ll have finished up a lesson, ready to move on to the next - then freeze. Other than the hassle of going out then back into the app, it’s great. My toddler enjoys it and asks to play it each afternoon.

Poor customer service

App down for multiple days - customer service only response is “it was communicated on our website & it is back up” - app still down. This is a PAID subscription, no offer for a refund or accommodation of any kind. Disappointed to say the least - can someone from customer service call and explain the situation to my 4 year old please?

Don’t even bother

Lying bunch of scumbags will charge you outrageous fees for services not subscribed to. Tried to talk to their customer service and they claimed it wasn’t their problem and they don’t refund charges, going straight up the ladder to my credit card company. Customer service was incredibly rude. I won’t be buying anything leapfrog brand as these money leaching people couldn’t care less about the customer.

Lots of issues

First, my kids love this app. It just does not work properly. They have to log back in constantly. The app freezes all the time, then they get frustrated with it not loading and end up playing something else.

Well, we did buy and now it’s not working

So frustrating that we pay $40 and it’s not working. It works with the free trial and now it’s not?! I want my money back. I can’t advance her or anything. It doesn’t let me even close out of the app unless I force close it. Once we go into an activity it won’t move around. The sounds and effects work but it won’t do anything. Sigh

Constantly crashes

The overall thought is super nice. The app is fun with bright colors. However it crashes ALL. THE. TIME. I constantly have to restart our iPad to get it to work again. Super annoying as it’s a great app BUT super buggy. Definitely not worth being subscribed and paying monthly/ yearly for an app that just won’t work. Pass
