Fantastic app!
This app has done a great job teaching me the basics of Icelandic. I’m used to more textbook learning styles, so this has been different and fun! It was hard for me to find any good resources for learning Icelandic, a language I’ve been wanting to learn for a long time, so I’m super happy that I found this app. It’s clear to understand and helps the words and phrases stick in your head easily. I’d highly recommend it to anyone who’s serious about learning a language. I can’t write a proper review without a little critique though, so I will say I would add a few things. Instead of just having a list of words, I would like to see some sort of flash card feature where you can quiz yourself. The little sliding games are fun, and they do a good job of teaching you, but I feel like a separate section with flash cards would add another layer onto the learning. Also, I wish you had an option to see the picture AND the English word above the one you’re trying to learn, just because when you’re going through them quickly it’s easy to associate just the picture with the Icelandic word, instead of what the picture MEANS (If that makes any sense). Other than those small things, I LOVE the app and I might even try it for another language in the future. Keep up the good work!

Love it!!
I’m wanting to learn Icelandic, because it is the most ancient-still-spoken Germanic language, and I’d like to keep it alive. I speak English, some Spanish, some Portuguese, German and understand Yiddish. Being able to speak German does help with Icelandic for sure, except for pronunciation. Very glad it has spoken voice on here, as I try to master accent while learning languages. I just wish it had both male and female pronunciation, to catch different tones, to further understand how I (as a male) should be sounding. If you learn a language by hearing only female voice, you can pick up feminine voice manipulations, which might throw off your listener, or throw YOU off when you hear a man speak. Other than that, 100% love it!

It’s a good app for a beginning student of Icelandic
The app thus far has done a good job of covering the basics of the Icelandic language. It also splits words into categories, such as food and essential daily conversational words. However, it can be difficult to understand the pronunciation of certain words or phrases, and could use more activities with regard to that aspect. It seems that I am learning the language but not how to speak it. Additionally, it has you match Icelandic words with images that are often vague. For example, “Takk fyrir”, which means “Thank you”, is represented by the symbol of someone giving a thumbs up. “Vinsemlegast”, which means “Please!” is represented by a similar image of a man begging. Some of these images serve to confuse. Nonetheless, it’s a good app, and is really beneficial toward helping me learn.

Enjoying it so far!
This app offers a free trial! Method seems to work so far(I’ve been learning Icelandic for 15 minutes but I’m guessing if you’re reading this then there is a chance you are too.) Gamification of language learning is an interesting concept and I wonder about the long term results as opposed to instance based results for this method. Anyway this is a review not a novel so I will leave you with those deep thoughts as you too embark on your journey to learn Icelandic. Decided to slowly translate this review to Icelandic over this next week to give you a good idea of what to expect from this app.

Great app but..
This is a really great app and it’s pretty fun, but if you don’t pay it only gives you five minutes to practice every 10 hours. I would give this app 5 stars if it gave you more time, like 30 minutes-1 hour every 10 hours or something like that. I just don’t think it’s fair that I can’t practice for more than 5 minutes because I can’t pay. I think it should work like Duolingo with the hearts, and I would be using Duolingo but they don’t have Icelandic. This app is very fun though and it helps me remember the words as well if not better than Duolingo did when I learned Japanese. TL;DR: If you don’t pay you can only play for 5 minutes every 10 hours, but if you’re okay with that it’s very fun and useful!

premium is worth it
Paying for premium is worth it in my opinion. I am amazed at how much I have learned in such a short time. The balance between stretching my ability (means more mistakes), hints (when I get stuck, just a small nudge in the correct direction), and giving me the “easy” ones for me (gives me the confidence, and enthusiasm to continue) is well done. I especially like the cycling back of previous learning, the sometimes showing capital equivalents of the letters, and the dojo. The speaking of the words and phrases is extremely helpful. I have the option to also learn from a university online for this language for free. Maybe when I get further with this app, I will feel more inclined to continue with my learning on the university free site as it covers more grammar, etc. I will be deleting the other apps for this language as this one does what they do and more as well as better in my opinion. Well done! Thank you greatly for this app!!!

I just got it and it’s pretty good
This app is better than most language learning apps out there that I’ve seen. This is a really fun and engaging app that makes what would otherwise be the living hell that is learning a language fun. I only have one critique, the pronunciation is what gets me every time and I’m not sure if it’s just me but it’s hard to understand sometimes so I would suggest implementing how to pronounce the word like how you would see it in a dictionary or something like that. Other than that this app is fantastic I would definitely recommend it.

Wow
Ok٫ so I was watching a movie and had no idea what Icelandic was. Then, some guy and women pop up, and turns out they’re Icelandic. The women was beautiful, and they started speaking the language. I was like, “Mom, what type of language is this?” And she says it’s Icelandic. Long story short, I thought the ppl were really pretty from there, and the language was more beautiful than I could ever imagine. I really wanted to learn Icelandic, so I downloaded this app. I know 18 words already. It may give u premium, but I think ur better off without it. -Elina M.

All in all, very good informative app.
This app has definitely helped me learn Icelandic, my opinion it does not offer that much immersive Ness, but then again I’m still at a very beginner course. I think it would be great if the sessions were a little longer than five minutes. However it is pretty informative. One thing that I think could be added to it, is A sort of feature where it says a word or phrase, and then you have to repeat it back, and it just helps you learn to pronounce it. Because honestly some of the letters are very hard to pronounce.

Best app for pronunciation for Icelandic
I’ve tried nearly every Icelandic learning app and this is by far the best in pronunciation. My husband is Icelandic and I’ve been attempting to become fluent after a few years. This app is a step above the rest, even compared to Memrise which has excellent courses available. Drops is very polished but I do worry about sentence structure later in the app. Seems to be better at learning vocabulary than conversation skills. I may give pro a shot for a year to see if I improve.

Edit
Okay, so the app has a LOT of issues with pricing- like, a lot a lot. However, I was able to go through Apple to select a plan from about 50 possible prices and combinations. Once I had the pricing sorted out I have been using the app and find it very helpful. The developer really needs to work on the pricing thing, though, the price changing every time you log in or additional pricing when you’ve already bought premium really isn’t good. Once that is sorted though it is a decent app.

Easy learning AND…
5 stars for easy learning.. Icelandic isn’t a particularly easy language to get but this makes it fun and surprisingly easy! AND a note/request is to add more common phrases while ordering at a restaurant or store since this is a highly used vocabulary list while traveling .. there is some good basics but a more in depth chapter would be great (“I’d like to order…” , “what is the specialty here?”, “can I get a to-go container”, “do you have ____ in stock?”, etc)

Learn with pronunciation AND pictures
Icelandic is a language not easily found amidst learning apps...I was so excited to find not only is the drops program so well equipped to teach this language, but many others as well. You can pay for a subscription or simply try their 5 minutes of free lessons per day. Honestly, how much are most of us really retaining, or have time to study during a busy work day. Be it a trip or a proper go at becoming fluent, I highly recommend Drops.

Great tool!
Absolutely wonderful way to learn languages! Premium is totally worth it. I’m happy it syncs your progress across devices. My only wish is so see a section to get further handwriting practice if desired and also a speech section to check if your pronunciation is correct. Thank you for making the language learning app I’ve been looking for. I will update once I’ve seen more of it. Really hope there is a sentence and conjugation section later on!

Incredible!
This app is like flash cards on steroids! The range of language options is impeccable, such clear and absorbable pronunciation is a rare find in language apps but of course this one is here to impress!! This app is user friendly and here to teach, I’ve never been so addicted to learning! While this app is an incredible vocabulary builder, I’d suggest they expand to sentence building and put a focus on applying the vocabulary words we’ve learned. Overall, very happy with the setup and performance.

Simple but not boring
This app is so simple with how it teaches the language,it doesn’t try to overcomplicate anything or make you do something you’re not ready for. It’s very thorough with each new thing it teaches, too. From matching a word to the right picture to spelling it out, it tests you in every way it can. You can move on when you’re ready or just restudy what you’ve already learned. I thought it’d be too good to be true, but I’m in love with this app.

Fantastic way to learn Icelandic!
Feels natural and you can go as quickly or slowly as you want through each lesson. Definitely worth the premium price but still offers you enough to learn in one day to leave you feeling challenged but not fried! Wish I had started with this app sooner since I arrive next week. But I am already much more confident than I was before I started using it!

I've only done one lesson but
I'm confident in saying that I really have faith that this will be a huge help! It was recommended by someone else I know learning Icelandic on their own. The interface is really sleek and the activities to learn vocabulary are interesting and fun. It's not genetic word practices, the games are really thoughtful. Every word is pronounced when interacted with as well, so there is plenty of listening practice to boot. I'm very impressed and excited moving forward.

Finally an app with pronunciations
I just found this app and am super excited that it has pronunciations built in. I tried other apps to learn Icelandic, but they didn't have voice outputs. For a language like Icelandic it feels as if voice outputs are one of the most important things - how else will you learn how to pronounce letters like ð or þ... Or how to pronounce words with two ll in the end? I also like the playful interactive character of the App. Well done!

So far so good
I love the picture examples even after the 5 minute free trial I picked up a few “food” words. I go to Iceland often so having an app like this would make it easier for me to get around and speak with the locals and learn the culture deeper, I’ve yet to try the full version. I feel I will probably sign up for the full version and continue learning the language to further expand my knowledge of the beautiful country, and its culture.

I absolutely love it!
I love this app! I just downloaded this and I can’t take you enough! This is so easy to use and this app actually helps you learn Icelandic. It was really hard to find this app, but I’m very glad I did find it. Most people want to learn French or Spanish and I’m over here struggling to find something to help me learn Icelandic. And what do you know! I found this. Overall my point is, I’m not disappointed and I absolutely love this app.

Wonderful Vocabulary Booster
This app has helped me vastly, I recommend it with almost no issues. The only issues I have are largely my own but fault with commitment. Upon coming back, an option to take a comprehensive test or way to test every subject I know would be a suggested improvement. The feature where it throws in a word from other lists occasionally is perfectly tuned for consistent users.

Charming & Effective!
Like having a very young and receptive brain again, allows you to learn at your own pace so you can process the new information and build up organically. Useful repetition and review, the program detects words posing greater challenge and presents them more often to help you get these down. Really quite fun, it’s the closest one can come to feeling that wonderful sense as a kid of “job well done!”

Scammed and progress deleted.
Today the app required me to “sign in” to continue. This ended up linking the separate icelandic app to my multi language app, meaning that instead of getting to practice each language on the separate apps per day, i can only practice one language a day. What a cheap, dirty way to scam customers. If this was your business model, you should have never had the separate apps and tricked people into thinking this was a language resource that they could use for multi-language learning. I deleted the app immediately, as well as all the apps by drops, and i am never touching anything from this scammy company again.

Good for learning but a horrible plan
I HATE that you only have 5 minutes to learn every day... I also hate that if you want premium there is only one plan (one whole year) I would rather have it for a month and see if it works, it is really annoying because I want to learn but this app makes it VERY difficult because of the restrictions of learning based on how much you have learned out of five minutes. Instead of this you should probably find some courses on another platform because of the lack of time you can spend learning on this app. This is my honest opinion and I don’t like this app.

Awesome and engaging!
I love the way this app teaches! Just 5 minutes twice a day and I feel more confident about learning Icelandic than I did when I took two years of Spanish in a classroom!! I feel like I’m writing an infomercial with how stupid excited I am about this app, and would like to thank the creators or creator for rocking this it out.

Love approach, would help to have phonetic visuals
I love this approach to learning language and happily pay for premium. As an English-speaker it would really help to have phonetic representation of the words. Hearing the audio isn’t always helpful when I’m learning a language that uses different sounds than I’m used to. Otherwise this is great!

Great app.
So far it’s been a wonderful app. I’m very happy with it and will consider purchasing the permanent license for it. Given, I am also using other resources to study Icelandic. This app is great for quick study breaks during the day. I love how you can hear how the words sound on your stats page after a session by touching the word/image to continue practicing the pronunciation. Love it!

Just started but learning quickly
I just started this today but the high-quality audio files and visual representations are really helping me connect the Icelandic words to familiar concepts. And it really helps that with each try they verbally repeat the word, so You get many opportunities to practice the language out loud and get your pronunciation down.

Fun way to learn, subscription is a hindrance
App design is really nice, and the learning structure is good so far too. I was looking for something similar to Duolingo for Icelandic, and I seem to have found it. The only downside is that you have to buy a subscription to be able to practice more than five minutes every ten hours. There's plenty of stuff that you get with a subscription, but I'd like to see unlimited practice in the basic tier.

Good, with a few buts
App works well and it’s nice to learn in daily small doses. It’s very visual, and it’s not always clear what meaning the image is meant to convey in my own language, let alone the one I am trying to learn. I wish there was more text to text translations and also a way to learn more about the letters themselves and the sound each one represents. Overall good, but for the price I would really hope for more substance.

Amazing App!
Icelandic is an interesting language to learn because it is only spoken by 300k people or so. It is a very interesting language and this app does a very good job helping me remember words and get my spelling on point. I have one question. I’m not too far in, but I’m just wondering if this app will bring me as far as forming sentences and learning how to use verbs and stuff like that. Takk Fyrir!

Love this Learning App
I’ve tried a few language learning apps, but I like this one because it gives a reminder every day. You do it for 5 minutes a day! I also like the way it intermixes and changes up the way you are learning each new word and then adding in the old words to make sure your are remembering.

Learning! :D
The short bursts, Icelandic-only audio, and being able to view the words only in Icelandic is really helping me learn the words. I have a strong grasp of so many already :D and my brain doesn’t feel tired or worn out because the sessions are only 5 minutes long. I seriously love this. It’s a great addition to my other materials!

Starting Icelandic
Wonderful ! I’m a native Spanish speaker and fluent in English, have traveled to Iceland and this is the best app I have found to start to beginning with the most difficult parts of properly pronouncing the words and I actually enjoy the tongue rolls :) we have quite a few in Spanish in Peru (know very little German also which both help) but not as complex as the Icelandic ones. Great app, great visual cued pronunciation exercises! I was hoping duolingo would have Icelandic and basque (of basque heritage) since they have fictional silly languages like clingon and valerian lol but they give no love yet to smaller bodies of language speakers like basque and Icelandic but here comes drops to the rescue ! :)

Fun on first use
I just joined an Icelandic company, and it was a lot of fun using this app to learn some basic Icelandic words. The app teaches you is you go but does not frustrate you. Instead it turned everything into a game. That made it easier to try and learn new words like breakfast she is and fork. I have a long way to go to master language, but this was a fun start.

Really good for learning vocabulary
Drops format is enjoyable and helps to keep the process interesting, as it gradually works additional word into your vocabulary. I have found it very helpful for learning words in short sessions everyday. I would definitely recommend it to anyone trying to expand your vocabulary in a new language.

I love the fact that it has reminders so you can study every day! I’m a very visual learner, so these little games help a lot! It also helps that every time you get an answer right, it says the word. So it’s repetitive and that’s pretty good for learning a language! It’s intuitive and very aesthetically pleasing, i really love it. Just what I was looking for!

I like the simplicity, yet stylishness of the word matching. The voice is pleasing. This is good for a beginner. It is super easy to get started. My only complaint is how quick it is.
